583  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] 1 roll of Casascius Aluminium Anodized Orange - 125 pcs in roll on: November 05, 2017, 06:58:36 PM
Did these ever come with holos or meant solely as a token?

There is no hologram with them. They are just the coins. You can use it as a offline wallet with your own hologram (or from other coinmakers)

for auction 1 roll of Casascius Aluminium Anodized Orange - 125 pcs in roll

I bought 500 pieces directly from casascius.com back in 2015. These were one of the last rolls available. It is shipped by Mike to me.

Roll is unopened, in its original packing, at the end of the roll there is a small rip in the paper, it arrived this way.

as it has been mentioned, BTC premiums have definitely come down across the board for casascius coins with the increase in $ price.

ignoring all the alt coins... you paid a 0.38BTC premium in 08/2016 when the $/BTC was about 500 (0.38x500= $190 premium).  as multiple people have mentioned above this coin probably sells for 0.6-0.65 BTC in an auction format, so lets say a 0.125BTC premium.  With $/BTC at $7300 (0.125x7300= $912.50 premium)

lets take it to an extreme of $1mm/BTC... do you really expect someone to pay you a 0.38BTC premium or nearly $380,000 premium for this coin?

as the price continues to rise, the BTC premium should be expected to decline

that being said, I'd offer you 0.60 BTC for this coin!

pretty lame to ignore altcoin when you calculate back to the other altcoin called $. When you take $ in your calculation you should also add BCH , Bitcoin Gold and all other shit that comes with it which is worth some extra $ to the value/price.

Buy a BTC coin with BTC, sell a BTC coin with BTC no matter what the $ price is for BTC is. If you are CORE stay CORE and that is BTC not $

Your price is your price. Dont let others sway you. All this nonsense with premiums going down because price is going up is bs.

No nonsense here..... unfortunately we still live in and peg the bitcoin price to $$ or other fiat value.....
Being that.... The premiums will continue to fall....Unless these start to make their way to traditional auction houses and real numismatic collectors take notice and are willing to pay
(Which would be an interesting turn of events if that happens sooner than later)
You would be hard pressed to find someone paying much any premium as we start to climb over $10K..... and I can't even imagine what we will experience once it's over $100K

You have a good point MJ. Also because the $ value of 1 coin is sky high now, sending it to buyer becomes more a risk and expensive. The premium value in BTC will drop as the $ price of BTC goes up to certain level it might be better for the owner to peel it, claim the BTC and all extras coins than sell it with low premium and risk it gets lost in the mail....

Personally I have some casascius 0.5 coins, why sell a coin for 0.6 BTC with all the fuzz of packing it, sending it, hoping it arrives, happy buyer while I can claim the BTC with all extra coins (bitcoincash and shit) and also get (near) 0.6 BTC,  I can even sell the redeemed coin for some mBTC.

In my opinion a good 0.5 casascius is worth 0.75+ BTC. The collector will buy BTC with fiat, buy this kind of coins and hope for higher BTC value in the future for profit. as soon as ebay, amazon, catawiki and auctionwebsites accept BTC as payment, value of these coins will sky rocket !

I don't know why the thread moderator marked my previous message as "unwanted" and canceled it. I was just unhappy about the latest days trend and since I'm owner of 200 000 XVG (that are not so many I know, but they are, anyway, money) if I write something like "today is falling down /cry" it's just my concern and I, like everybody of you, will be happy when this coin strike down the book and reaches a good value.

please fix that ...

thx

espers still has a very good future ahead, very good team, continues to do so ...   Smiley
0.8.6.8 is running again

when I MAKE 0.8.6.9 I get this error

Code:
In file included from src/version.cpp:6:0:
src/version.h:49:14: error: ‘int64_t’ does not name a type
 static const int64_t HRD_LEGACY_CUTOFF = 1509537600; // ON (TOGGLED 11/01/2017)

              ^
Makefile:2322: recipe for target 'build/version.o' failed
make: *** [build/version.o] Error 1
:

add this to version.h right under "include <string>" and you should be able to compile:
#include <stdint.h>

Edit:

I wanted to add since some people are having issues compiling with newer openssl dependencies, libssl-dev-1.1.0 or openssl versions 1.1.x are not currently compatible.  To build, install libssl-dev-1.0.1 or the correct corresponding package for your current linux distro.  If your distro's package manager no longer has those packages available you will have to build openssl from source and link the libraries and headers manually when building.

Works ! thanks.

That's ok, it's purely informational. You can continue by running 'make'.

0.8.6.8 is running again

when I MAKE 0.8.6.9 I get this error

since 0.8.6.9 I tried to start 0.8.6.8 again to start staking again, now I get this error:
Code:
./Espers-qt: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.54.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Espers qt-wallet broken on Linux  Undecided

for now I will try to install new wallet on Windows but I would like to Linux

You probably updated libboost-system in the previous step. After updating libraries, you must recompile all programs that are linked against it.

When I recompile (old/previous working version) I get this error (same as with new version)

Code:
Removed plural forms as the target language has less forms.
If this sounds wrong, possibly the target language is not set or recognized.

qt would even compile 0.8.6.9

Code:

tried with command qmake and qmake "USE_UPNP=-" and qmake "USE_UPNP=1"

had no problems compiling current version of Espers

edit: before downloading and compiling 0.8.6.9 I ran:
Code:
sudo apt-get install qt5-default qt5-qmake qtbase5-dev-tools qttools5-dev-tools     build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev     libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev     libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev
no errors

since 0.8.6.9 I tried to start 0.8.6.8 again to start staking again, now I get this error:
