Just 4 days have been completed, and we have a bunch of big upsets so far. First, Argentina got destroyed by Saudi Arabia and yesterday Japan managed to defeat Germany. And in both the matches the strong teams were leading by 1-0 by half-time, before the underdogs scored two goals in the second half to make the score 1-2. Today there is a chance of another upset, as Serbia is taking on the tournament favorites Brazil. Before that Portugal is playing against Ghana. The chances of any upsets today are very slim, but I am still hopeful.
The world's attention will be on Cristiano Ronaldo, because Ronaldo has just parted ways with Manchester United, even though Ronaldo is in a bad state, I'm sure Ronaldo will definitely prove his worth to the world when he faces Ghana tonight, I'm also sure Ronaldo will be able to score goals. From this match and previous ODI too we got that England is too weak and unstable in ODI batting and bowling too , because the early 269 runs partnership of warner and head exposed the england bowling lineup and now batting lineup is under pressure and lose 6 wicket while the runs on board of England is just 90 which will be too woory. And absence of Ben stokes also effect england bowling and batting. It is unstable but we can't underestimate England team because we all know that England team performed very well in T20 and all know that it won the world cup too. Every team has some loose points and England has too. But they can eliminate these issues and can grow at anytime. Pakistan then played very poorly and gave England the target for very few runs. So they won that match by luck . So looking at that score they can't be judged as good. They have not played well in any ODI match. They are still quite weak in DOI. It is true that all teams have some weak points and one team never always wins. Yet England are very weak in ODI Pakistan's low scoring target facilitated England's victory. I will not underestimate England in any way. There is a continuous performance in them which was not in Pakistan. Pakistan can lose anytime against any weak team which is a very rare scenario in England. England won the T20 World Cup. And recently they lost the ODI series with Australia. The two formats are different so I wouldn't say England's T20 squad is bad. England is a reliable team in T20. Hope they will come back and do well for the upcoming ODI World Cup. It is not that Pakistan plays badly all the time, Pakistan has performed very well in many matches. But currently Pakistan team is a bit weak especially the batting site is the main problem of Pakistan team. Due to batting problem Pakistan has to face problems in some matches. But the bowling line of Pakistan team has some reputation again All discussion is about batting side of Pakistan which Is unpredictable sometimes they perform and sometimes they don't but balling is their strength as we have seen in all the tournaments and whole cricket world knows them as strongest balling attack in the world . Argentina need to get back winning the both games left for them to qualify at the top of that group that's if Saudi Arabia plays a sloppy football which I think they won't. After India set a target of 191, I thought that New Zealand would not win but lose by a few runs But that didn't happen, the Indian team bowlers were able to resist the New Zealand batsmen brilliantly. Which is really commendable.
Target like 191 is surely match winning in New Zealand conditions and there was no hope that Indian young and inexperienced batting line up can do score like this but Surya Kumar was in excellent touch, and he hammered all around to kiwi bowlers for his century with the striker rate of 201 with this performance surely he deserved th1 Number One rank in T20i batting ranking, and he can keep this place for long time because technically he is the best player and currently no one can give him challenge. After having huge target like these, bowlers were also at the top and take few early wickets which not allowed New Zealand for having any good response and at the end they lost the match by big margin which is surely a setback for them after losing their seminal against Pakistan in Australia. The last match was awesome. However, if the Indian new T20 team squad can protect their consistency, it may be a big one for them. Since the BCCI gave them freedom. However, no one was able to contribute much with Surya Kumar. He had done alone in the last match. Even the Hardik Pandya batting has noticed some changes. Since he is now the captain of the Indian team, he must be responsible for the responsibility. However, I would like to have this continuation of their victory in the upcoming match. Apart from Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav, no other batsman could contribute much in the first match. Even then only Suryakumar Yadav was able to set a huge target of 192 with his superb batting. But every Indian batsman has the ability to perform well. However, the performance of the Indian bowlers in the first match was excellent. If the Indian bowlers are able to perform well in the second match as well then we will see the dominance of the Indian players in the second match like the first match. But my guess is that New Zealand will win the next match. I thought New Zealand would win. But my opinion is completely wrong. India has shown their potential. They did not lose heart after such a big loss in T20 World Cup. Their bowling department has done a great job. Outstanding performance by Indian team specially Suryakumar Yadav, they definitely deserve this win but a weak performance by New Zealand they got all out in 18.5 overs. As far as I am concerned, Sanju and Umran Malik should have been included in the team. In T20, Samson would be a better option than Iyer. Sanju Samson is a great batsman who can also smash the ball hard. The fact that young Indians are representing the team is good.
The 2nd match has already started. Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan are the opening batsman. So far they are their start is really good. England's run rate wasn't bad but they couldn't keep wickets, it was a bad experience for them. They managed to play a total of 38.5 overs. If they could have played 50 overs, they might have won the match Australia has performed well in both bowling and batting in this match. England has been bad in batting in this match. England's batsmen have not scored many runs. In this match, Australia's Adam Zampa scored 45 runs in 9.5 overs and took 4 wickets. Australia in the match Adam Zampa played a big role behind the win. Whatever we say in today's match England lost the match by a big difference. Here England's weak side is easily revealed. As their bowlers have been defeated by the Australian batting, their batting has also fallen in disaster for the Australian bowlers. Overall Australia is ahead then England in two aspects. It remains to be seen how Pakistan cricket has improved during his tenure. Whatever the cricket board chairman says irrelevantly. But it is true that even though Pakistan cricket has improved, Ramij Raja is viewed negatively by many in the cricketing world. Because there is some differences in his speech. After all we want every country's cricket to thrive and conduct cricket with honesty and integrity. As a result at least cricket will improve.
No doubt we have too many positive changes after arrival of Ramiz Raja as President of PCB even till very long way to go for them if they want to be bigger and stable in this game and around the world but still good approach by him for handling things which was never been good and favourable for the long term games future but as few already mentioning above positive and negative points of this post and attitude this is surely happening in subcontinent specially in Pakistan because system is not strong and many form cricketers which fail to have any post or contract with leagues can also show their frustration even they never deserve for this post, but they feel it's not justifying by them hopefully things will be changed, and they could be able to understand this all. Pakistan has emerged as a strongest team in the world in almost 2 3 years and hard work is obvious in that . Definitely there is a role of PCB in that too from finding these great talented boys and polish them to bring the best out of them. England was defeated in the first match of the series due to their poor batting. Both openers cannot play well. Other than Dawid Malan, no other player can stay at the crease for long. The second match between Australia and England is going to be played tomorrow. And if England wants to beat Australia, their batsmen will definitely need to perform well. Because Australian pitches are usually batting-friendly. And so it is very difficult to win if the batsmen are not able to perform well. I hope England's batsmen will not make any mistakes in the next match. The series is 3 matches, if England loses the next match they will lose the series. So surely the England players will perform very carefully and responsibly in this match.
In first ODI which won by Australia at Adelaide their confidence level is high, and they are going to do better in this second ODI which is going to play in Sydney England which is playing this ODI series without their few key players are having the good number of youngsters as now they are preparing for the next ODI World Cup which is going to play in India and England is going to defend their title but right now things are looking no favorable for them because after early exit from Twenty/20 world cup now Aussies are doing good and their top order batsmen are in good form which is clearly indication hard time for England and their bowlers. Like the first match, England lost the second match and lost the series. And in today's match, they were beaten more badly. Australia won by 72 runs. It was an easy win for Australia. The main reason for England's defeat was not their bowlers, but their poor batting in both matches. We did not get a good performance from England's batsmen in the first match. And today England managed to collect only 208 runs. England's performance will not improve if the batting does not improve. Three important batsmen like Sam Curran, Jason Roy and Dawid Milan returned to the dressing room today with zero runs. Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa's performances were excellent today. Both took four wickets each. Due to the extraordinary performance of these two bowlers, it has become easier for Australia to win this match. What a win for Australia 72 runs and they took all the wickets on 208 runs. They have won the series ,no doubt extremely good batting and balling from Aussies. Seriously when England ended up with 287 runs I thought that was a very good score and the Aussies might not chase this score or perhaps they might face some difficulty chasing this score. However, the top three batsmen from Australia (David Warner, Travis Head, Steven Smith ) took the match away from England and they won this match quite easily. Apart from the result of this match, I enjoyed the innings from Dawid Malan. He scored 138 runs in challenging positions when all other wickets were falling around him. Without his contribution, England may not have made even 200 runs. Australian openers batting was good, David Warner 86, Travis head 69 and Steven Smith 80 just look at their batting almost target is chased by these 3 batsman. And England somehow managed to score 287 ,thanks to Dawid Malan 138 runs but they failed to ball like that. They didn't took early wickets which results in Australia's victory. |

In this match the team who plays well will advance. But in this match we are waiting to see a good game between India and New Zealand. Many people are waiting to see which team will win this match. Some days. Earlier we saw that India could not reach the World Cup final after losing to England in the World Cup match. Let's see what India can do in this match. This match would be entertaining for sure as both these team lost in the semifinals. As an Indian I know we wanted to avoid Newzealand in the semifinals of the T20WC. The Indian team management did feel the same but after getting defeated by Pakistan many fans like me wanted India to play with NZ inthe semis. India team is full of new and deserving talents. It would be interesting to see Hardik Pandya as a captain in an international T20 series. This is going to be an interesting match between equally strong teams , let's see how Hardik Pandya will lead India in upcoming matches. Newzealand is my personal favourite team and wish them for their matches. |

My question is what Rameez had to do with the poor performance during the initial two matches? When the Pakistani team performed well during the New Zealand tri-series, the credit went to the players and not to the management. When that is the case, the poor performance during the initial stages of the world cup should also be attributed to the players. Managing the PCB is not an easy task, but Rameez has done a wonderful job so far. So I am in favor of letting him continue with the job, without much harassment. Like i mentioned above, whenever Pakistan are performing poorly they would attack the coaches and the management. There was a time when Waqar Younis was their coach and when they fail terribly everyone would attack him including Ramiz Raja as part of the commentary team. There are some crazy things said by Ramiz Raja as well in the past and now he is under attack because he is the PCB chairman and he is still making statements in Twitter. Teams with billion dollar leagues are falling behind us this is the statement by Ramiz Raja when India lost to England in the semi finals and when someone voices their opinion he is sending legal notices to them and that rings a bell as a hypocrite   . This "Billion dollar" Jab is just one example. There are quite a few instances where he becomes loose cannon against opposition teams " Beat em and we'll get a blank check" "Kohli scored a ton against 3rd rate team -Afganistan-)". Imagine ECB, CA, BCCI's president start talking like this. I like the show you were referring to in your previous comment. The only thing I hate is when they bring religion into everything. Some might still remember Waqar Younis's bigoted comment last year, he came out as a true Islamist and later he had to apologize in public but it was just a damage control tactic IMO. I don't understand why people forget their decency and grace when they get some position ,Ramiz Raja is loosing alot of respect which he had when he was a commentator. These direct disgraceful attacks aren't good for cricketing relationships and you goodwill. |

Except the first match against Pakistan I do not see an exceptional batting by the legend. He was able to provide a stable middle order but the pressure of NRR did drill down to those batters who came after them. SKY was the reason why India was able to capatalize a run chase or put on board a decent target. If you are in the middle order and an experience batter you should be responsible to increase the NRR rather those coming after you. Thankfully BCCI has now taken the right decision in dropping some of the legends in T20 international.
Agreed. India managed to win the matches thanks to quick batting by SKY and due to the pace bowlers. Although Virat scored runs, he was too slow (except in the game against Pakistan). And let's not forget the fact that he has been out of form for the last 2-3 years. Selectors urged him to take a break and participate in domestic matches, but he refused their advice. And then got in to a brawl with Sourav Ganguly as well. IMO, Virat Kohli has no place in the Indian T20I team. He should concentrate on the test format. Yes if you have to name the best in Indian team for now batting wise its Suryakumar Yadav. What an outstanding and extra ordinary batting from his side throughout the World Cup. Virat Kohli is no doubt a legend for many youngsters but for now his form is not suitable for T20 format . |
