Chances of upsets are more in the next edition (2024), as the tournament format has changed. The ICC announced a few days back that for the next edition of the world cup, there will be no qualifier stage. Instead of two groups of 4 teams in the first phase, the tournament will have 20 teams divided in to 4 groups (5 teams in each group, with a total of 4 matches each per team). Upsets can happen in all the formats, but the possibility is more with T20. In that particular format, one good spell of bowling, or a few overs of good batting can win the match for you. It is much more difficult with ODI format, and almost impossible with the test. And that is why I am of the opinion that only the top 4-5 teams should play test cricket regularly. Other teams should concentrate more on T20. And I don't know what the future holds for ODI. This format seems to be a bit redundant and maybe scrapped in the future.

The matter is basically like this and its implementation is sometimes seen . Which team do you think is the weakest team that has fought so hard to get the opportunity to play in the international team? I have no complaints about Mohammad Rizwan's performance. He is an amazing batsman. He is capable of playing well in both T20 and ODI formats. But the problem is that he doesn't play well regularly. His performance must be consistent. As far as I know Rizwan's strike is more than 120 in the night. That's not bad either. However, if compared to Suryakumar or Gayle, Mohammad Rizwan will be quite a bit behind. However, Pakistan's batting line-up was never very strong. Pakistan continued their good run largely thanks to the excellent performance of their bowlers.
