I am mainly just trying to help people get some Bitcoins at the start, as this is like, the easiest thing someone can do.
Well keep in mind that something being easy doesn't necessarily mean it's any good. Maybe have a look here and work on something that's both more feasible and more productive.

Is this your job? Who pays for this, and how do you contribute? Is whoever paying for you to do this getting their money worth? All you've done is insult people and added nothing to the discussion about the company or the stock price. If you have a legitimate complaint or issue about the company or their share price, maybe you could post that instead of trolling?
Or maybe you could stop and think for a minute, on either of these two points: 1. that a no-name fuckwit with a two month history (ie, you) does not get the right to an opinion, on any topic or subject; 2. that no-name fuckwits proclaiming that x has value or y has "no value" matters not one whit. I speak on this venue backed with the full force and credit of Bitcoin's largest financial entity, and for that matter, the oldest. What I say is not optional, and especially not to random no-name fuckwits born this October. Which means you.

what's the best alternative for cryptsy? Are there any other exchanges with this many alternative cryptocurrencies?
this maybe? if you can even get any coin back at all from cryptsy https://vircurex.com/FFS. Read up about services before you suggest them. You're contributing to the mental rot of this space otherwise.

Sure your are right managing other people's funds requires expertise. I have been involved with private equity and venture capital for the last nine years mainly in China and South East Asia. I also would like to point out - specially for the "find" part - that I have personally met most of the entrepreneurs including the founders of MEXBT.com, GoCoin, Hive, BTC.sx; my partner has met the Cryptopay co-founders in the UK; I will meet Monero's founder next week and our Austin-based mentor has met the founder of zSIM. We have organized a conference in Singapore, the first bitcoin conference in Asia, on November 15 where many of these entrepreneurs were present and we had 200 attendees from all over the world. So in the "find" area I can say we have been quite active, in addition to the tens of entrepreneurs my two partners and I have talked to in meetups, over skype, and via email. For the "help" part we have already been providing services in finding partners, registering companies, assessing risks and the regulatory environment, defining the business model, defining the business strategy and targeting certain markets. Of course much more work still needs to be done but this is what we do daily. I think the result of this work will very soon demonstrate our focus and dedication to our main task: helping entrepreneurs around the world to build successful bitcoin-centric startups.
Claiming to have "been involved" with nary an iota of substantiation does not constitute establishing your competence or expertise. It constitutes further proof that you're able and willing to say anything, and that you're either unaware of how to present yourself or else too lazy to actually do it correctly. Same goes for passing off conference organization as some kind of artifact of financial expertise. Yes, various idiots have been murkying the waters of this forum with similar contentless assuring for years; this doesn't mean it's in any way acceptable. You can either demonstrate that you're capable and serious, which means following the actual protocols of the field, or else you can appeal to the groups here that have no business investing and who will cheer on your good intentions 'til their last satoshi is gone. Don't mistake that second option as anything other than blowing it.

The owner/operator of Cryptsy is well known as he has repeatedly made it clear he is Paul Vernon from Del Ray Beach,Florida. Cryptsy is registered as a business with the State Florida. As such it makes it very easy to file complaints with the State of Florida over the issues we are having. Cryptsy is in the mid process of filing all the needed applications to enter into a USD market. The last thing they need are multiple complaints about financial mismanagement and issues right now as it would get them nixed pretty quickly. Florida is very aggressive on consumer issues like this and it doesn't matter if you reside outside the USA.
Paul Vernon himself, also know as BigVern needs to come in here and explain what is going on. Not one of his "lackys" like BitJohn or pr9me but Paul Vernon himself. I have a combined total of coins in limbo of about 63BTC. Enough is enough. Let us know what is going on or deal with the consequences.
What say you Paul Vernon?
Oh fucking can it. See here.

We are helping Bitcoin startups with attractive businesses prospects and some already profitable. Our structure is quite similar to standard funds whereby a management company helps a fund to find viable and interesting opportunities in a specific sector or industry, in our case, cryptocurrencies.
Except that there is zero basis for imagining you're any better equipped than the average bipedal life form to "help", "find", or otherwise create any sort of value. Managing other people's funds and identifying worthwhile projects are not trivial tasks; they require specific expertise. Not interest, not passion, not "we talked to some guy named Dan and he likes us", expertise. That's what you need to focus on demonstrating. And that, well before you solicit "investments". See here.

Interesting idea, E. Sorta like btc geocaching? Sounds like you're still ironing some things out. To that end, you should probably see here.

UPDATE FOR 4.12.2013: Response from BITSTAMP: "I'm still waiting for a response from our bank. We are terribly sorry for this delay however we contacted our bank several times and we were unable to receive any new information. We were promised that we will be contacted as soon as they learn more."
Passing the buck eh. It's outrageous that they'd imagine this constitutes an update nearly a month after the fact.

In an effort to be more transparent and so you know who is behind the website I'm going to post my facebook link here. If it becomes an issue later on I'll have to remove it but I want you to see who we are.

So a coupla guys who imagine linking their facebook profiles constitutes some sort of basis for trust (while being worried about it, at that). This sort of thing doesn't end well, whether they're honestly trying (and failing) to serve people or consciously out to scam. If you're looking for gift card stuff get in the WoT and look for relevant trade opps.

Well, don't use MtGox again, ever, and never wait over a year (or anywhere close to it, really) to check on the status of stuff you care about.

I know that we as a community need exchanges in order to thrive however,
It's hard enough to explain Bitcoin to the average person so it's an amazing thing to get friends and relatives to invest money in. Recommending a service (like campbx) to someone only reinforces the belief that BTC is a scam when campbx runs off with their money. This only hurts the bitcoin community as a whole.
If a lawsuit (for better or worse) was able to take down bitinstant then maybe the community should consider coming together to rid itself of the bad apples.
My experience. The first transaction (money order) went through no problem. A few weeks later after saving more money I sent a second money order. My girlfriend sent her first one at the exact same time. Hers made it in to her account no problem, mine was deposited by campbx into their account on nov 14. I went through their help desk route. I got a trouble ticket, which they closed and labled resolved during the request for more info. I started another trouble ticket and provided the info they requested. They responded that they could not find the deposit (despite that I sent it certified mail and had delivery date and deposit date) and asked for a photocopy from moneygram to prove that they had deposited it. They then closed the ticket and labeled it as resolved. After deciphering the moneygram system for a photocopy request I sent in $24 for the photocopy proof that campbx took my money and failed to deposit it to my account. Now after a third trouble ticket with campbx they have gone silent.
So I am left in a situation where in essence they have been using my money without my permission since nov 14. They happily took my money but decided it was to much work to match deposit with account. Hey free money for them from all us suckers right?
I know I'm not alone, hence lets build some interest in a class action lawsuit. I and others might as well get something for our $.
Feel free to post your experience with them, although please refrain from name calling, lets keep this professional and stick to the facts. Who, what, when, where, how, why
Thanks
A class action lawsuit isn't the sort of "let's get a pitchfork mob together" exercise you seem to imagine it to be. The far less expensive, far more efficient, and overall more effective route to take is to learn to WoT, commit to performing extensive, exhaustive due diligence before trusting any service with your funds, and to refuse to vote for broken services with your wallet, no matter how inconvenient the alternative may seem at the time. Bad exchanges, bad assets, and individual scammers abound here for the simple reason that people give them money. Because their website looks nice, because they were "courteous", because they made some unsubstantiated claims about their "services" that said payers never bothered to verify. So long as this behavior continues, this stuff will be a problem. No matter how many lawsuits people imagine they're going to file, no matter how many "let's find this scammer in person" threads get started, no matter what else. Educating yourself and making smart decisions thereafter is the only way you're going to keep your funds. Start here.

I'm basically just blowing off steam, here. Figured some others may want to join.
4 hours ago I was trying to complete a 1.5 BTC transaction with another party from my Coinbase app which has built in wallets. Oddly, I got an error message saying error, it could not be sent. So I tried again. No luck so I scrounged up 1.5 BTC I luckily stored on another mobile wallet (risky stuff, I know). Well, 3 hours later I open Coinbase and see two 1.5 pending transactions had just started, destined for the same address from earlier. I'm hoping the other party is honest enough to return it. Hmmm.
I get worried when basic software makes such huge mistakes like this and inothers in Coinbase's app.
Nasty. I suppose actual functional ineptitude can be added to their long-documented selective scamming practices. Learn to WoT, stop subjecting yourself to this nonsense (and supporting their continuation in the meanwhile, y'know?).
|
|
|
Be careful, and use common sense.
Indeed. I'll leave this here.
|
|
|
But... I understand the LBC decision as well. It is expected of a business not to make financially important decisions based on whatever they might perceive as common sense, they need to stick to the words of the contract. You marked the payment as completed although it was not, so they were entitled to cancel the trade. In my opinion it would have been reasonable to keep the coins in escrow until your fiat was refunded, though. Any news on that?
Exactly. OP, it's unfortunate this didn't work out, and I don't entirely grasp the whole "your posting on reddit has consequences" nonsense, but you'll have to learn to get things right to the letter when working in systems that depend upon things being right to the letter. It may seem petty, but it's not, and neither would it be petty to learn how to get your ducks in a row for smoother deals in the future.

Can you please summarize, its too long to read.
no Haha kudos. Thanks for publishing details. In the future though, lay off with the retarded self-moderated thread "feature", eh? All it really does is tarnish the credibility of your reporting.
