LULZ you guys are sinking so you resort to copying the coin that you didn't think was competition.. I guess imitation is the greatest form of flattery ...

Since when is selling the xc-tor-stick copying another coin? If you're going to start some FUD at least get your FUD facts straight

Personally I don't care what other coins do and may the best coin win but people like you should just be permanently ignored
582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 29, 2014, 11:27:06 PM
Price growth has me depressed... plus I want to mine on the multipool what the hell happened to it?

So the multipool is offline due to some issues with the code[note: I am not the developer of that code nor have I looked at it].  At this time I'm looking at all options for getting a multipool back online asap

Also EM_RC4 should be completed soon and released for wider testing.

As most of you are aware, the Key Coin team has worked up an anonymous solution based on the XC rev1 code and asked me to take a look at the code.  Which in of itself is a rock solid testament to what XC has done and continues to do moving forward and just as ground breaking as that tech was, XC will continue to bring new ground breaking game changing technology to crypto and the mass's.

An updated image for the tor stick will be available for download as soon as the EM testing wrap's up....  Fully anonymous encrypted messaging over TOR :-)

Dan

Thank you for the updates done! Things sound exciting for XC the following days!

As for the tor stick, I really believe it should be available for BTC as well. People with smaller amounts like me might want to hop on the train without spending their precious investment. But if there is some significant discount, like 20% cheaper at current rates XC vs BTC, I might consider buying with XC.

Well potentially it will evolve into a decentralized ebay - available directly in the wallet so that is part of the reasoning

583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 29, 2014, 11:07:02 PM

For buying the xc-tor-stick we will be setting up an online marketplace which takes XC[only] for payment, hopefully the prototype will be online next week

Thoughts on only accepting XC for payment?

Dan

584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin - X13 - Fair Launch - Bittrex/Cryptsy - 7/27 KeyOS Soon on: July 29, 2014, 10:42:14 PM
Dear KeyCoin Community,

I have always been a strong advocate for advancements in technology, dating back throughout my career and I support anything that can have a positive effect on the path to greater freedom and I regard crypto-currency as key part  of the solution to a decentralized and free society.  You can see my extensive list of accomplishments at http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dan-metcalf/12/1a8/b82

The KEY code:

KEY is 100% Proof-of-Stake, with checkpoints, active POS checkpointing server, and a POS Maximum Age of 120 days to prevent long term accumulation attacks. The code has been well audited by both members of the community and exchange operators.

Key’s anonymous solution is an unique hybrid which leverages on-demand encryption and clustered pools to randomize mixing.  To prevent leakage the transaction is passed through the clustered mixing pools twice, thus rendering the transaction untraceable on the blockchain and also prevents even the sender from tracing the transaction on the block chain. While the anonymous system is indeed based on XC, it is a highly modified and unique version.

The KEY team and invite for review:

At first when the KEY team reached out, my initial response was to say no due to my workload and commitment with XC, but since I am always open to new innovation, I finally decided to accept the request.  I was invited to a private channel with an extremely organized and eager development team. There are over 20 guys in here with skill sets ranging from proficiencies in various computing languages, graphic designers, web developers, 2 3D rendering studios, Linux system admins, they even have guys with 3D printers exchanging custom designs for the KEYos and merchandise.
I also noted a great deal of cross collaboration, with many prominent developers from the community contributing to the success of the coin and the quality of the code.

They have their ears open and they are open to acting on not only my suggestions, but those that emanate from the community itself. Since innovation is what drives cryptocurrency, I decided to accept the opportunity to review the code and the team.

Peer Review:

In reviewing the code, I did a basic review of the entire code base and a more in-depth analysis of the anonymous related portions.
The additional clustering abilities within the protocol itself provide an ideal solution in preventing block analysis, and to take it even 1 step further, the developers have implemented a ring layer on the protocol allowing the transaction to take multiple pass’s through the cluster, further anonymizing the transaction.
Since the entire protocol including the enhancements are encrypted it is impossible to gain any information by sniffing the network.
The protocol enhancements have been integrated correctly and based on my own testing perform as expected and haven’t created any security vulnerabilities.

As my time very limited, I will leave it up to the Key Dev's to handle any questions

Sincerely,

Dan Metcalf

Still need assistance in getting the private transactions to work on build 2.45. Over 15 attempts of various amounts between 1 and 10 and no dice. Correct ports open on both the router and win firewall, wallet has full network access, etc. No coins lost, just no transactions showing up and certainly nothing ending up on the other end. It shouldn't be this difficult... what am I missing?

That's odd. Is your internet connection through a large institution or some entity that might have all manner of filtering on its network?

For example the Oxford University network doesn't let private tx's through at present.

This is an issue that'll be resolved in future updates.

Nope, individual home connection. For the life of me, I feel like I have followed what existing directions to a T and have everything setup appropriately but yet nothing. I'm not trying to start anything here as it would be counterproductive being that I hold quite a few coins myself, but I do want to know why I am having issues on a feature that everyone else seems to have no problems using (especially when it is a core feature by design).

I have seen that certain ISP's or content filters can impact the privacy feature, we are working on an update to resolve this type of issue

587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 16, 2014, 11:22:51 PM
Yes you are right.

But you guys forget, the same trick I can easily make with BTC. There are many mixers too.

So this kind of anonymity is not a destiny choice feature, that I should leave well tested & open source BTC and switch to poorly tested & closed source XC. Agree?

Hiding your addresses? No, you can't perform the same trick with BTC because ONLY XC has trustless mixing.

Sorry, while XC sources remain closed, I need to trust in Dan (XC's dev) I never ever seen in real life nor been a friend of.

So neither BTC nor XC has trustless mixing today (and possibly many months or years if ever).

XC has decentralized trustless mixing today and the source code will be open sourced in the future

May just be me but I would like to see the updated roadmap, with the milestones that are met and the ones that are coming up as I don't feel 100% clear what has been delivered and where, ie testnet, mainnet etc etc..

And then also just a view as to what features / area is being worked on at the moment...

+1000

Its on the way, Arlyn is working on updated info op like he did with the current one

Any update on this Guys?

I will be releasing an updated roadmap this weekend and also an updated wallet with improvements to the private transactions feature

Somethings are ahead of schedule (EM, Website, branding, etc) and other items need additional improvement (private transactions) for usability

Thanks,

Dan

In response to the attack that was carried out today on navajocoin.

While I am still reviewing the limited amount of information, based on my review of both the code and the available data, the attack was successful partly due to the 30 second block time.

XC use's a 90 second block time.

I am reviewing the additional variables & Proof of Stake code involved in this attacked for any potential issues

The current REV2 test-release will be updated, additional data collected and then the final rev2 will be released

Why it says this address is not a x11 ?

the address I provided was for testnet use only, you launched the wallet in normal mode

I seem to have this issue with the latest wallet where it seems to keep hanging with the the blockchain download. It's resolved by restarting the wallet, until it happens again.

it is P2P, so this will happen, if you let it run it will download

EM TEST RELEASE

Now available at

http://downloads.xc-official.com/testing/

Windows only for now, The UI for this feature will be completely revamped but I need to test out the core of this feature.

The PDF has a quick walk through on how to use

You will need to generate a new address, which also creates a PUBKEY just for that address, which is used for encryption.  You will need the remote users XC Address and also the PUBKEY.

I need to setup the testnet node, then some testing can take place - due to the hour[and I'm away from my main pc], it may not be until tomorrow morning for the actual test itself.

thanks,

Dan

Hi all

If you make a payment in privacy mode, you won't get a confirmation notice and the transaction won't appear under the "Transactions" tab until after the transaction is sent (~30 minutes).

In future updates you will get confirmation. You'll also get progress tracking. For now, you won't.

If you make a payment in privacy mode, does that just mean that the addy where you got it from is hidden basically?

I know this might be a stupid question, but I have very small knowledge of this.

It means the transaction is Un Traceable

Real Life Example :

u put mail in ur mailbox to send to friend.  before putting in box u put a lock on it and send your friend the key.  only your friend has this key to unlock.  the mail man gets your mail and rips it up into 1000 pieces.  he gives 1000 pieces to 1000 other mail men.  each mail men routes the mail down different routes to your friends house.  Each mail man gets a tip from you for routing their portion of the mail (lets say 0.001 XC), the more pieces of mail the mail mens deliever the more tips they get Smiley /  when all the pieces of the mail hit your friends house your friend re-assembles the 1000 pieces of mail back into the letter.  and then he uses the key u gave him earlier to unlock and read the message.
-XC  (SUPREME PRIVACY)

and this isn't our last layer, we have 1 more layer of blockchain privacy coming out as well with REV3, and at that stage it will be 100% anonymous & bullet-proof when combined with all the layers we have built

Are we going to see Encrypted Messaging testing today?  Today is the end of this week.

Yes, it will be deployed to testnet and the test parameters put together for users to start testing, This will happen tonight

600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 12, 2014, 04:26:35 PM
Requires UNPNP or Port Forwarding of TCP:32348.

Can someone please explain to a noob like me how to do those things please?

Thank you Smiley

Settings>options>network>tick box mark UPnP and that is it correct?

It is already set up by default in the wallet

I don't believe your setup correctly, so it is not going to work

the best to validate to is to go to ipchicken.com, get your ipaddress and then port check it for 32348
