January 31st, the Downfall of Bitcoin

Funny how the  price is just humming along without a blip on Chinese exchanges today...

Did you see in one hour on the 29th more than $8 MILLION USD (元50 million) in BTC were PURCHASED on Chinese exchanges in about an hour?

Wait am I appealing to a troll?  What is wrong with me?

I believe CONFIRM that briefcase contained the 100K+ signatures needed to have Obama ponder the idea of kicking the beebs out of the states.

Umm thread is for BAD news...

I'm not so sure that the fundamentals of ecornomics will allow yet another cryptocornency to dilute the market

But this is as of yet uncornfirmed. Any foreign language sources?

Oh no.  Not again...

Confirmers, it's time we get serious about the development of a better cryptocurrency.  I've been inspired by the work of Professor Williams, and in his glorious honor I propose we begin collaboration on bitcorn - the worlds first best cryptocurrency.  I don't know how to program, so I'll need help.

It's a cryptocornancy.

And each confirmation must be confirmed.
I can confirm your confirmation. This means that 1 out of 6 confirmations is now fully confirmed.

I also confirm what I wrote. If someone could confirm my confirmation, we will have 2 out of 6 confirmations.

CONFIRMED

CONFIRMED for 6/6

To confirm this I have done a regression analysis of the confirmations received so far on the news chain.

This source appears to conclusive and foreign. 102% confirmation shows the martingale leveraged shorts are in control of the order book having shotred more than BTC supply.

I am sorry to have found another fully confirmed chart...  Sad

Fair play to you for taking the hit and pulling out of Gox - this blight on the BTC ecosystem needs to go down. I am assuming from your words that you have taken cashed out completely. Did you receive the BTC without problems ?

Even though Gox has shrunken significantly the combination of the public perception that it sets the actual BTC price combined with the erroneous conception that it is the leading exchange makes it's eventual demise possibly painful for us...

if you want, I think it's best to express one's calmness by going with the standard-font un-bold "I am not a special snowflake" type of text so that we all understand the issue is not of "bold importance" k thankx

WHATCHU TALKIN BOUT BRILLUS?
5809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fork The Blockchain And Block The Seized FBI Coins. on: January 27, 2014, 08:40:25 PM
Don't think this is something that is possible to do.
It would be totally possible to create a fork of the Bitcoin chain to do this.  Trouble is, the people who suggest these thing over and over and over never get past the talking/posting about their ideas and on to the doing it stage.

I get the impression that a lot of people think talking about something is the same thing as doing it and that is just not true.

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean it is a good idea.

Hopefully most of the people smart enough to code a new coin with a fork of the blockchain are also smart enough to reason through why this would actually do far more damage to bitcoin than good if it were successful.

The continued seeming interest in the ideas of this thread depress me slightly.

Micon give me my chips from the buy-in and a compensation for the lost time back!!
My user name: Bassimo
I was in the BigBTC when it disconnected and site was unreachable. I just wrote an email to support@sealswithclubs.eu but no reaction!!! You want to scam me after all the BTCs you got from me with me playing on your site??

Be patient.  They make these things right.  Over and over.
5811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fork The Blockchain And Block The Seized FBI Coins. on: January 24, 2014, 10:02:11 PM
Sounds like a great idea for another alt coin:  "MoralCoin" or something like that...

HighHorseCoin or LameAssCoin both fit even better.
5812  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: January 24, 2014, 10:01:07 PM

I completely agree with this idea.

However, we still aren't particularly experienced at this and every situation is unique, we haven't done this many thousands of times like a restaurant. So inevitably we get to some point where it looks like it will only be an hour or so, we say "just a few hours" and then learn that we were completely wrong.

And in case anyone hasn't realized, Micon isn't actually stopping these bad packets himself, he only gets what info techs give.

We could forgo estimates, but we think they have some value even if they can't be very accurate.

Thanks for the site.
Thanks for the hard work.
Thanks for not failing to communicate even if its hard to be accurate.

just one time promote for a week a 1BTC omaha hi freeroll.

Aww dude.  You just used your one time on that?
5814  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: January 24, 2014, 05:02:14 PM
Micon was on here yesterday saying site would be up in 8 hours.  It has been roughly 18 hours since that statement.  Why are you giving them the benefit of the doubt?  Like I said, it would be very easy and allow them all the breathing room they need if they would just refund people who are concerned, and allow them to get out of their hair.

It's up.  Go get your money.

The reason I asked earlier how much money you had on the site was two fold.

Firstly I was going to suggest you only keep a couple buyins in there at a time.  It's so easy to do there is no excuse not to unless you just trust the site.

Secondly I was going to come on this morning and personally guarantee your bitcoins.  If it was an amount I could cover with my roll then *I* would pay you your damn balance.

I personally trust SWC enough that if we made a public agreement here then I'd ship your roll to you and get the money back when the site came back up.

Looks like I'm off the hook.

Go get your money.
5815  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: January 24, 2014, 04:55:45 PM
My address and a friends have both been cleared out. The transfers happened on the 22nd. Explain this seals. Why are you stalling? Buying time to launder our funds?

If you can move our funds to your mega accounts the day after the attack why can't you process withdrawals so we can get off your god awful crappy site.

Posts like this from idiot trolls with 0 post history come across to me like they're actually coming from whoever is DDoSing the site.

Pretty much, yes.
5816  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: January 24, 2014, 06:52:45 AM
It won't be.  This is obviously beyond their capabilities to handle.  I just want to make sure I am first in line to receive my funds as it will be an epic shit storm in a day or two's time and the reality that it's not coming back gains some momentum.  How can you believe that there is:

A.  An attack at all, let alone one they can't handle
B.  They are completely stumped on solutions
C.  2 days time is not ample to develop/hire help to provide solutions

It just doesn't make sense.  Yes, I don't quite understand the gravity of an attack like this, I don't know much about coding or networking.  But I do know that I am a customer of a service, and the service has been unavailable in excess of two days now.  As a consumer, I can choose to do business with who I choose, and complain when I feel taken advantage of.  I just want my money out of the site and I will be on my way.  That's it.

You'll get your money off the site.

How can I believe:

A.  I have seen it happen before.  At seals and elsewhere.  This is a DDoS attack.  It's obvious really.
B.  The solution to DoS is not always simple.  It might involve server migration or a new host.  SWC is most likely not running on a shared server.  So they are responsible for all security.  That involves databases, hashed passwords, private keys and so on.
C.  Since SWC is (most likely) and X man shop (where x=<5) there is just no way they can go fixing this willy nilly.  They have to discover/implement/test/repeat.

It takes time.

It almost always takes more time than you thought it would.

I personally understand you are concerned about your BTC.

May I ask how many chips you have on the site?
5817  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: January 24, 2014, 06:30:28 AM
Micon, you've lied to us about the comeback time.  I've requested my money and my withdrawal three times now.  Please allow me to take my money off the site.  This has entirely been too long and you said yourself they would start processing manual withdrawals if the site was down for more than 48 hours.  Thank you.

Holy fvck.

He never lied.  He gave a couple hopeful estimates with giant disclaimers.

If you are keeping more money than you are comfortable losing on SWC then you are keeping too much money on there.  Or you care too much about the money.

They will be back.  I bet in less than a day.
5818  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: January 24, 2014, 02:39:47 AM

It takes probably only 1000 days before bitcoin is at $1M. So if you want to be one of the people who made it, time to join the action! Wink

When bitcoin reaches 1 million $US i will donate 50 mBTC to the charity of your choice.
5819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fork The Blockchain And Block The Seized FBI Coins. on: January 22, 2014, 03:15:27 PM
As said earlier, it's not really a fork of the blockchain, it's a totally new blockchain with 1 block containing everything but the FBI's coins.

And as said earlier, it's easily one of the worst ideas ever typed into this message board.
5820  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: -- Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: January 20, 2014, 03:02:10 PM
This whole puppet master argument he is making is so fantastic it is hard to believe folks buy it.  He is not smart enough... Not by a long shot to pull off that level of con.  Niot even smart enough to see how ridiculous the argument is after the fact.  A sociopath, yes...  Some evil genius? No.
