5801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: December 17, 2019, 02:21:55 AM
We will see now the Mavericks playing without luka in the whole game against the streaking bucks.
Las time against the heat, they rally in the 2nd half to make it a close game, can they do the same with the Bucks here or even stop the streak.
IMO, i think they will struggle as they lost a PG and their main scorer so buck here could probably dominate the Mavericks.

I'm thinking you are right.  Think the bucks are only favored by 10, I can see this game get out of hand early and see the bucks leading by 10-15 by halftime alone.  They are the real deal, excited to see the bucks lakers game soon.  Bucks -10 should be a decent bet.  Can see a 125-100 type of game here.

For me +10 will be a decent bet for the Bucks and they can easily cover that. They are averaging +13 this season and steam rolling opponents with or without Giannis.

And with Luka out, the spread of +10 - +13.5 is very attractive.

I'll save you time searching this community, 100 Ways To Earn Bitcoin ★★★★★.

Old thread but most on the list are still effective and there's no secret earning BTC, you just have to work, just like when people earn fiat. So best of luck.
5803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Upbit hackers using EOS tokens for money laundering? on: December 16, 2019, 03:28:05 AM
They're criminals, so I'm not surprised that they are going to used every avenue to cash out what they have stolen. The thing is that if they used DEX then it's going to be difficult to follow their tracks because everyone knows how DEX works.

Probably EOS for these criminals are just a testing ground as how they are going to manuever and hide their trail.
5804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In 2019, Students Demanded Blockchain Education. In 2020, It’s Coming on: December 16, 2019, 03:06:07 AM
I would not be surprised if some countries join in the train of offering blockchain courses or degree because whether you like it or not, the blockchain technology is a great tool with so much benefits to help curb the escalating rate of bribery and corruption. Blockchain technology needs to be exploied to the latter. In the meantime some industries i heard some universities across the globe do offer online blockchain courses as well.

already happening but i guess more universities will integrate blockchain tech this coming year. blockchain tech is indeed a great tool to address many issues such as transparency in operations and its corresponding cost.
young generation would be the new crypto users very soon. more adoption means better crypto valuation in the market.

Yes, I think many schools have been offering blockchain courses already, so I wouldn't be surprised that in 2020 we might see a boom.

Demand is already there, it's that the market is short of experts right now. But with proper education in the next year demand can be filled and adoption will follow.
5805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How many confirmations are equivalent* to 6 Bitcoin confirmations? on: December 16, 2019, 02:26:48 AM
How many confirmations are equivalent* to 6 Bitcoin confirmations?

You will be surprised,  Smiley

https://howmanyconfs.com

How are these values calculated?

Quote
It's easy to compare blockchain hashrates when the Proof-of-Work algorithm is the same. For example if Bitcoin has a hashrate of SHA-256 @ 40 PH/s and Bitcoin Cash has a hashrate of SHA-256 @ 2 PH/s, it's easy to see that for a given period of time the Bitcoin blockchain will have 20x (40/2) the amount of work securing it than the Bitcoin Cash blockchain. Or to say that differently, you need to wait for 20x more Bitcoin Cash confirmations before an equivalent amount of work has been done compared to the Bitcoin blockchain. So 6 Bitcoin confirmations would be roughly equivalent to 120 Bitcoin Cash confirmations in the amount of work done.

However if the Proof-of-Work algorithms are different, how can we compare the hashrate? If we're comparing Bitcoin (SHA-256 @ 40 PH/s) against Litecoin (Scrypt @ 300 TH/s), the hashes aren't equal, one round of SHA-256 is not equivalent to one round of Scrypt.

What we really want to know is how much energy is being consumed to provide the current hash rate. Literal energy, as in joules or kilowatt hours. It would be great if we had a universal metric across blockchains like kWh/s to measure immutability.

However that's fairly hard to calculate, we need to know the average power consumption of the average device used to mine. For GPU/CPU mined Proof-of-Work algorithms this varies greatly. For ASIC mined Proof-of-Work algorithms it varies less, however it's likely that ASIC manufacturers are mining with next generation hardware long before the public is made aware of them, which we can't account for.

There's no automated way to get this data and no reliable data source to scrape it from. We'd need to manually research all mining hardware and collate the data ourself. And as soon as newer mining hardware comes out our results will be outdated.

Is there a simpler way to get an estimated amount of work per blockchain in a single metric we can use for comparisons?

Yeah, there is, we can use NiceHash prices to estimate the cost in $ to secure a blockchain for a given timeframe. This is directly comparable across blockchains and should be directly proportionate to kWh/s, because after all, the energy needs to be paid for in $.

How can we estimate this?

Get the blockchains Proof-of-Work algorithm
Lookup the average price per hash on NiceHash for this algorithm
Multiply price per hash by total hashrate per second
Now we have an estimated total Proof-of-Work metric measured in dollars per second ($/s).

The $/s metric may not be that accurate. Miners will mark up the cost when reselling on NiceHash and we're making the assumption that NiceHash supply is infinite. You can't actually rent 100% of Bitcoin's hashpower from NiceHash, there isn't enough supply.

However that's not really an issue for this metric, we aren't trying to calculate the theoretical cost to rent an additional 100% of the hashrate, we're trying to get a figure that allows us to compare the cost of the current total hashrate accross blockchains. Even if the exact $ value we end up with is not that accurate, it should still be proportionate to kWh/s. This means it's still an accurate metric to compare the difference in work done over a given amount of time between blockchains.

So how do we compare these values between blockchains?

Once we've done the above calculations and got a $/s cost for each blockchain, we just need to factor in the average block time and calculate the total $ cost for a given number of confirmations. Then see how much time is required on the other blockchain at it's $/s value to equal the total cost.

So to calculate how many Litecoin confirmations are equivalent to 6 Bitcoin confirmations we would do:

Bitcoin (SHA-256 @ 40 PH/s) or ($100/s)
Litecoin (Scrypt @ 300 TH/s) or ($10/s)
Bitcoin's average block time is 10 minutes (600 seconds)
6 Bitcoin confirmations on average is 60 minutes (3,600 seconds)
Bitcoin's total $ cost for 6 confirmations is ($100 * 3,600 seconds) $360,000
At Litecoin's hashrate of $10/s it would take ($360,000 / $10) 36,000 seconds (10 hours) to complete an equivalent amount of work
Litecoin's average block time is 2.5 minutes (150 seconds)
The amount of Litecoin blocks expected over this period of time is (36,000 seconds / 150 seconds) 240 blocks.
Therefore we can say that 240 Litecoin confirmations are roughly equal to 6 Bitcoin confirmations in total amount of work done.

5806  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Quadriga: Lawyers for users of bankrupt crypto firm seek exhumation of founder on: December 16, 2019, 01:43:40 AM

lol Just DNA will be enough to see compelling evidence of fraud here. If proven he faked his death, how are they going to find Cotten in India?
Curious about this investigation. If indeed he did an exit scam, he may not be there anymore if he is alive. Probably in Thailand where he can easily ask for cosmetic surgery.  With $180M he can shapeshift so anything.

Well that's one speculation of Cotten, that he is still alive and living somewhere else.

And this whole exhumation process will finally settle everything about his death. But as far as the missing funds? It can't be recovered unless he goes to a procedure like this Meet the Tiny Bitcoin Wallet that Lives Under Your Skin.
5807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There is a better alternative to Bitcoin and why not use it? on: December 14, 2019, 12:40:35 PM
People are creating topic like this every week. The simple truth why there are so many hype around bitcoin - it was first. A lot of people think that this is the only one true crypto currency. This is not about tech, this is about status

And it's about where you can make a lot of money, and that is bitcoin. And it has alot of enigma behind it, Satoshi and some drama behind it.

Yes, Digibyte or any other altcoins there are far better that bitcoin, speed wise, security and scalability. However, most of altcoins are simply being used for pump and dump scheme.

Luka Doncic’s 40-point triple-double vs. Pistons sets multiple records

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic set multiple records with his 40-point triple-double in their win over the Detroit Pistons.

https://clutchpoints.com/mavs-news-luka-doncics-40-point-triple-double-vs-pistons-sets-multiple-records/

Love this question from that webpage.

Quote
With a ton of games left in the 2019-20 season, it seems that Doncic is just showing us a glimpse of his astronomical talent. What does he have in store for us next?

There is still so much room for improvement with this guy.
I hope I could live long enough to see it all. Will be following more about this guy.
So for now he had equaled Lebron with a 40 point triple double. He will break it. There is no doubt about that.

He may be the most entertaining player to watch by now. Yeah!, he is.  Cheesy

Right, everyone is on the bandwagon and just love to watch Luka play and hope that they can see some magic around. He is still very young, a lot of leg room to developed that skills.

40 point triple double, that's already a accomplished for his young career and yeah, he can easily break that and set a new standards in the NBA in the coming years.

You might want to test what IP you are getting here:

https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php

And then try to used TOR or VPN and see how it goes for you. But just like the rest of guys are saying here, there's no risk of having multiple IP's.

But as far as Cryptotalk forum, we can't really answer that for you.
5810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't want Bitcoin, You don't want Future :-\ on: December 14, 2019, 10:36:50 AM
Let us face the reality, people are scared about the high volatility of bitcoin. Just imagine by\uying into bitcoin at its all time high in December 2017. Do you know how such buyers are feeling at the moment? The future of bitcoin is blurres and i can only imagine it as an asset of store of value other a global accepted currency. This i think could be the future of bitcoin

On the contrary, those who have bought at it's peaked have either exited and take the loss, or simply holding and hope that the price could go on another all time high run in the coming years.

Of course, no one really know that what the future can bring, everything is blurred until we have seen it, store of value, or money system, still the future looks bright for bitcoin.
5811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on: December 14, 2019, 10:01:17 AM
Chavez Jr is being trained by the fabled Freddie Roach, so that is a big positive for him. But I don't know if his body and mind is still in boxing. Another interesting side note, Chavez Jr, skipped a drug test, putting this fight in jeopardy, but Hearn assured the everything will be push thru as plan.

Quote
Skipping the test was clearly the wrong thing for Chavez Jr. to do, as it made him look like he had something to hide. Hearn wishes Chavez Jr. had taken it, because if he had passed it, they would be fighting in Vegas on December 20. Of course, if Chavez Jr. had something to hide, then that’s another thing. This meant Chavez Jr. wouldn’t be licensed to fight in Nevada.

5813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Bitcoin scampany got rekt! on: December 12, 2019, 08:00:39 AM
I don't know why people still get scammed and putting hard-earned money towards those kinds of things. They didn't even do their own research with that. I think almost everyone who has experienced something positive with regards to profiting or investing, they automatically think it's legit already, but the truth is, it's just a Ponzi scheme.

Because sucker are born every minute in crypto sphere. They thought that crypto is a easy way to get rich, so they invest their harded earn money.

Obviously, US is clamping down on this Ponzi scheme, fake and scammy ICO's, it's good to see them doing this, but it will take a lot of time to really busted those criminals because they can really hide their guise and before everyone notice something fishy, they're gone. At least in this case, there are names and people behind can be prosecuted.
5814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: December 12, 2019, 07:23:10 AM

Tonight, Giannis is out. We can see how Bucks will perform without him. But even they will lose here, it doesn't mean they are nothing without Giannis. Their real strength without Giannis might be seen within several games and not on a single game.

They won with a big margin and the streak continues.. No Giannis but no problem for this team who are in active winning streak right now.

Middleton and Bledsoe both led the team with 24 and 29 points respectively, if this is the way they are going to play in the playoffs, then I guess they have a huge chance even against the Lakers, Clippers or Sixers.

Yes, both of them step up as expected, no doubt that the two will play very hard knowing that Giannis is not there. And I do hope that they will kept going until he returns. However, it's just one game, haven't check their schedule but they could face a strong team next and could be tested if they can continue their streak here.
5815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beginner needs advice for portfolio on: December 12, 2019, 02:21:22 AM
If to chose 2 from the rest, I'd go for EOS and Tron. EOS is a project by Dan Lamier, though his name is not always associated with success, I just wanted to make you know it's a global coin with nodes around the world not restricted to China only. Tron is cheap now and is one of the fastest utility token. The rest you listed are left behind in development and has stopped to grow.

Yes, I would agree with EOS and Tron, China love those two crypto, so I wouldn't be surprised that in the next bull run, we will see another dramatic run with those two.

Plus Tron have Justin behind, he loves to shill his pet project here, so he can influence investors again with his sweet talk here.
5816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 30th South East Asian Games on: December 12, 2019, 01:59:47 AM
I wonder how they will split the incentive for every Gold medal brought home coming from the basketball team. Incentive is around $16,800 USD and they will split that among all players since Basketball is considered as just 1 Gold medal.
Is the incentive that really big!? :O. It's just seems small in terms of USD but on our currency it was almost a million! In my opinion, that's enough for the whole tram already. What I'm wondering right now is that how single gold medalists felt receiving almost a million pesos. What a fortunate for all of them, they already did their passion, make our country proud and got a pot of money. What else they could ask for Cheesy?

Most of them are playing professional basketball right? So I'm sure they already have a decent pay already. So it doesn't makes any difference if $16k is spread among the players because money is not their incentive to play but instead represent their country win the gold and continue their streak on basketball dominance in South East Asia region.

Kudos to Philippines, after so many negative talks in the beginning, the SEA games went very well.

It is to be expected, even a lots of Olympics in tha past has criticism as well. What's important is that the Philippines has stage one of the best SEA games in recent memories.

The closing ceremony is also world class, fireworks display and you can see all the athletes are very happy an proud to be part of this games held in the Philippines. Vietnam will host the next game, and with their strong showing, I wouldn't be surprised that they continue the tradition of host countries being the the most bemedaled.
5817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do some ICOs have different 'team location' and 'place of registration'? on: December 11, 2019, 09:18:40 AM
Maybe some ICO projects have teams that work in different regions, but they have one headquarter, in the case you have given, Cayman.

I think this has been practice a lot, teams are scattered around the globe because of their expertise. But there could be projects as well who have their teams just located in one place. Doesn't make any difference as long the project will deliver.

Are you guys looking for the best rates in the market when deciding to buy/sell Bitcoin or you're bond with the certain exchanges where you have an account?

Of not, there are a lot of exchanges out there, so I don't understand why you're stuck win just one. And to add to that, just a precautionary measure, don't put everything in an exchange though, better have your money in a wallet that you control over with.

It's also good to experiment and experience other exchanges though, regardless of the exchange rate, just saying.
5819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 30th South East Asian Games on: December 11, 2019, 08:14:35 AM
Today is a last day for Sea Games, my country is in fourth place, the medal achievement over the target but should be able to get more gold medals.
The results of the soccer match were a little bit disappointing, never thinking about losing with a big enough score, but I appreciate the struggle of young Indonesia soccer players.

That is OK mate, at least your country did try their best in this meet and even surpasses their expectations. Everyone struggles in sport, and I'm sure that with the young Indonesian soccer players, this is just he beginning of their journey.

140 gold for the host nation, what can we say, they really dominate this meet and with the whole crowd behind them, it is to be expected. Surprised nation here is Vietnam, they have improved a lot and I'm sure that in the next SEA games, they are going for the top spot.
5820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nvidia Battles Shareholders in Lawsuit Over Crypto Miner Claims on: December 11, 2019, 06:53:57 AM
I think that Nvidia is really to blame for this. After all, investors will not get their money back.
Nah, investors were pretty aware that there was a gpu mining boom and it's pretty silly to expect that to continue forever without issue.

Right, investors are not complaining when we have a boom in 2017. However, they should have known that this kind of surge can't be sustained in the long run. Of all the people, they should be the first one to understand the market situations.

This is going to be a long battle, and with the expected bull run in 2020, they should step aside their difference and look for ways to make money again. just saying.
