What does Bitcoin Foundation do exactly? Just wondering because they have not done anything as far as I'm aware. I have not seen them help solve any of the issues that have come across bitcoin since I've been involved. Do they have any say in bitcoin at all (I hope not)?
It's like the group was created to form a hierarchical structure in a non-hierarchical system. The members are a bunch of snakes like Mark Karpeles, that dude charged with money laundering (Charlie Shrem?), and some useless hot Asian woman who calls herself "Satoshi's Angel" obviously taking advantage of her looks to gain attention form bitcoin nerds.
Why not read about what they do? Maybe you would understand more. Hint: They are not the bitcoin police. https://bitcoinfoundation.org/forum/

Wait, you think we are going to stop using BTC because someone says so? Haha, that's a good one man!

It might be worth mentioning that there is no evidence of anything but incompetence at Gox.

There are public keys and private keys. Don't show your privates.

This is the logical fallacy that most Bitcoiners fall into, they will PGP 4016 encrypt all their messages, generate the wallet in an offline linux machine etc only to be hit with a 12 dollar wrench on the head until he gives up the password.
So true. I worry more about IRL thieves these days. I used to protect my BTC with strong passwords and offline wallets. Now I use guns and safe deposit boxes. Sorry for your loss Razick. That sucks man. I like Danny Hamilton's approach. "If you do not have sole control of you private keys then you do not own any bitcoins."

Oh, because bitcoin dropped in value. That's how I knew dollars were such a silly idea after 2008. Dollars, lol, like that could work out.

A vote is always a good way to determine the truth. It's how we discovered the world is flat.

Seen on twitter. "Oh great, the same banksters who gave us the wall St. bailout are now ramming this bitcoin stuff down our throat!" Not a lot of research there.

Hi friend. Don't get involved in loans or bitcoin businesses or PayPal or altcoins. That is my newbie advice.

They believe the fundamentals are still there. As do I.
+1 That's where I am. I don't soil my pants every time someone posts nonsense they pulled from their arse. But if I thought bitcoin were broken, I would bail in a heartbeat. I'm not the religious type.

How many have written him so far? I will write an email to him tonight. Us talking to each other here is not going to derail his train. Let your representatives know or face the ignorant legislation they dream up.

Time flies quickly in BITCOIN-LAND.
Next year we will be in the $3000 to $7000 range saying the same thing.
But.... That will be after a crash from $10K, so a lot of people will be saying bitcoin is dead. Circle of life.

I wonder if he would take bitcoin? That would make a nice vacation home in the north woods. Hmmm.

I don't see why I should worry?

Bitcoin values slid again in the wake of hacking facilitated by a flaw in the digital currency’s central software systems. ...
Well, that's not exactly correct. If I understand, the flaw was in gox's wallet implementation and does not affect the bitcoin client. It is not a bitcoin problem. Also, there is no central anything. No central software, servers, systems. also, welcome redtea!

Don't put much into a car. It's a depreciating asset. IMO

Nothing really that strange about bitcoin being down 50%.

My mate and I are going to Portillo's in about an hour. I fire up the APP and place a Bitcoin deposit, an amount I know is more than what I'm going to spend. When I get to the restaurant, I show my receipt via the APP. The confirmations have already been done prior to us getting to the Portillo's therefore, upon paying the tab, change is forward to our Bitcoin address. Even if we carry-out, no need for us to wait for a confirmation, for we know that Portillo's is good for it. The onus was on the customer at the onset of the transaction, thereby protecting the eating establishment.
I would love it if there were a place near me that does that. Bob-Appetite
