Sure, if you're willing to misdefine terms... but then nobody can debate your categorical BS. /ignore

Terms like slavery vs indentured servitude.
5823  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what is your political preference? on: July 04, 2013, 05:34:57 PM
Slavery is already a violation of the NAP and inherent human right not to be enslaved, so would-be slavers should surrender or be killed in self-defense. No laws codifying what is inherent are necessary, without a government existing to violate (or enable the violation of) those rights in the first place.

Sell on ebay. Tack on an extra 25% to market value to set the price. People are willing to pay a premium if they can use paypal or credit/debit card to pay for bitcoin.... and later do a chargeback leaving you holding nothing.

FYPFY
That's why you sell to people with verified PayPal accounts. It's a risk you have to take if you want to maximize your profits. I've been doing this for a while now without any problems.

"Verified" means absolutely nothing when it comes to frauds. Countless "Verified" PayPal accounts have charged back regardless of your personal experience. Until "Verified" means "2 factor authenticated via Yubikey or Google Authenticator, implanted RFID chip, or DNA sample", then PayPal will continue to be the #1 choice of financial criminals on the world wide web.

5830  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LocalBitcoins.com - a location-based bitcoin to cash marketplace on: July 01, 2013, 07:46:28 PM
Take a page from http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams and get back to basics.

What is the domain name? LOCALbitcoins. That means you meet people locally, i.e., in person, and exchange physical fiat (counterfeit check it) for bitcoin. If in public (or private), you should either be armed, or be within a few feet of uniformed others who are armed (and preferably past 100% controlled access with metal detectors and x-rays for bags). Don't get robbed.

When will it get through everyone's thick skulls that bitcoin (and the follow-on cryptos) is the ONLY safe electronic payment method, and to stop fucking using the rest (of the electronic payment methods)? The stolen money and time has to number in the millions of euros/**Dollars/pounds by this point.
5831  Bitcoin / Press / 2013-06-30 - DailyNews.com - New LA Mayor hat tips(?) bitcoin on: July 01, 2013, 04:40:20 AM
http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_23573577/eric-garcetti-taking-l-back-basics

Quote
During his 15-minute speech, Garcetti promised to give Silicon Valley "a run for their bitcoin," a reference to the digital currency. He also said he would end runaway film production, and focus on the city's aerospace industry. He vowed to lower the city's business tax.

Was that a positive hat tip to bitcoin or a "we'll outdo you, Silicon Valley bitcoin firms"? No publicity is bad publicity, I guess?

When is the price going up, and how often?
5833  Economy / Economics / Re: Keeping Bitcoin Price High on: June 30, 2013, 10:58:27 PM
It seems like every time I think of buying something with BTC, the price drops, so I end up paying more.

Given the wild swings of bitcoin prices, I really think any merchant worth his or her salt would peg the prices to the exchange rates so that customers aren't screwed over when it changes.

Doesn't matter. Example:
Buy 1 BTC at $100. Hold. Buy 0.25 BTC for $25. Find item for sale that has its price pegged to $125, but by that time the exchange rate had dropped, so the 1.25 BTC is insufficient. The $125 peg requires, for example, the purchase of 0.10 more BTC for $9.26 (assuming you buy at spot, no fee). In the end you will have to spend $134.26 to buy a $125 item.

I see this happening to other people all the time... "I came up short, need to buy 0.xx BTC to make up the difference because of the rate drop", paraphrased.

Murphy's law at work.

There seems to be a bug in bitmit.  Why is it I see listings from 5,000 km away when I am in "Local Listings"?

PM me and I'll give you more details.
