5841  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: March 06, 2017, 09:29:49 PM
A have a question to kano or some other blockchain or db specialist.

I was under impression that once tx is on the blockchain, even an unconfirmed one, then it is unchangeable.
is this really so, or does current soft allow for some sort of "replacement in kind" with the same numerical outputs for currently unconfirmed transactions?
An unconfirmed transaction isn't in the blockchain.
It's simply in the mempool of anyone who has accepted it.
From the point of view of it ever getting in the blockchain, it must be in the mempool of (some) miners and they must include it in a block they find (and it must not be orphaned) e.g. a pool - kano.is Smiley

There's also:

1) RBF (replace by fee) was implemented by core - yep many may not realise that you can replace a transaction with a higher fee.
Bad idea in my opinion, but no one got to decide that, core just added it in.

2) Maleability. There is a minor fix for this here already in core for 1x transactions.
However P2SH (3x transactions) is plagued with this due to the design flaws in it.
That's basically what segwit is a poor solution for - poor since it is also full of 'core profit' motivated code, not just a maleability fix.

Maleability means anyone can change a transaction identifier to produce the same transaction result (same inputs and outputs) by modifying something in the transaction that does not depends on proof of ownership of the inputs.

....interesting
I had a tx that was not confirmed for 40-48 hr or so, but i could see it's tx id on both blockchain.info and blocktrail.
Suddenly, it disappears altogether and shortly, but not immediately, there is another tx id and tx is immediately confirmed, but timestamped at the second occurrence. All inputs/outputs are the same.
What could have happened?
Someone just picked up this tx, but timestamped it as a current one?
Blockchain fixed itself? LOL
5842  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 06, 2017, 09:18:07 PM
What is the ave daily payout on Hashnest S9.

About 0.005BTC / day after fees, a bit less in the past days due to bad pool luck.

Thank You very much for the information.  That is about 40% less than mining on my own with a value of about $10.00 per miner.

...i don't know, but calc show $9.27/day for a 13.5Th/s miner, BEFORE COSTS.
Maybe yours are 14Th?
0.005 (currently about $6.29) is AFTER cost on hashnest, unless i misunderstood.
Not super good, but not bad either (probably 7-8c/kw equivalent in power costs).
5843  Economy / Speculation / Re: When does an ETF buy coins on: March 06, 2017, 04:49:47 PM
If the Winklevii ETF was accepted on 13th, will it go "live" then, and people can buy the ETF right away? Or is there still some delay?

And more importantly, at what point does the ETF actually buy new coins? If the Winklvii have 100K BTC, do they sell all those first before the ETF buys any more? (So it might actually have a negative effect on the price as more supply is available and some people may chose to buy the ETF instead of buying coins on an exchange?)

Is the ETF a close-ended fund? In that case, it will be open for subscriptions for a certain period of time. As and when people subscribe, the ETF will buy bitcoins to match the subscriptions.

no, it is like GLD, to my knowledge. Winkies just provide the initial liquidity.
What I don't remember is whether there is a yearly maintenance fee.
If yes, hopefully, it is small; GLD fee is 0.4% yearly.
That's the downside of ETFs plus tx fee each way, which is $5-10 in almost all brokerages.
GBTC has an annual fee of 2%, which is way too much.

See... our hashrate went down and we are getting more lucky and getting more blocks.
we need to keep our hash rate below 27,000TH.  Grin

My dog wakes up and then, almost immediately, sun rises as well.
Wow! My dog has the ability to make sun to rise.

someone can explain to me the difference of these codes that make vary the price of the video cards? yet they are sapphire, rx 470 8gb

all my card are memory Samsung with this code = 11256-02-20G

11256-17-20G  ?
11256-02-20G  8gb, core clock 1260
11256-01-20G 4gb, core clock 1260

see ^^, so -01- is 4gb, not 8gb
5847  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Mining on: March 05, 2017, 07:16:34 PM
TBH, I'm probably earning more bitcoin by lending on Poloniex.

stick mining is just for fun.

Re lending on Polo, i am not sure how can anyone make any money there as current rate is 0.01%, so you earn $4 in two days on $38000 bitcoin at risk, which is almost nothing.
5848  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitcoin Miner PSU Questions! on: March 05, 2017, 04:45:42 AM
I appreciate you enthusiasm re starting mining, but R4 is a much better choice for an apartment.
S9 will drive you crazy with it's noise and if not you, then your neighbors.
Plus, you'll only need a 1000-1300W PSU and there are plenty of used EVGA 1300 out there (it will save you at least a couple hundreds).
On the other hand, if it will not work out, then there are hosting sites in Canada with great prices: check @allinvain here (cryptoboreas) and others.

TL;DR
In your situation (apartment), I would not order S9, but order R4 instead (if and when they will be available).
If so, then think about cancelling that 1500W PSU and order new or used EVGA 1300 instead (for R4, NOT for higher powered S9).
5849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW PSU Died After 24 Hours? on: March 04, 2017, 11:17:28 PM
Now that the psu is blowing the circuit breaker the psu is probably bad. That is not what started his problems, though.

yes, of course, PSU is probably dead now and it was most likely not what started his problems, you are right.
Phil told him how to test PSU without connecting it to anything (with a plastic dummy/jumper short for the 24 pin connector, which is usually included in the box these days).
5850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW PSU Died After 24 Hours? on: March 04, 2017, 07:51:53 PM
No it should not. 6 rx480's will pull over 1000 watts. You are not realizing a 1200 watt psu will only output a max of 1000 watts of 12volt power. GPU'S only use 12 volt. No 5 or 3 volt rails ever connect to gpu's. Sorry but you are not correct as you have no math to back up your statement. Only incorrect assumption. If you had 6 undervolted 480's it might pull around 1000. That is if you are running stock firmware and no overclocking That is also assuming you are ming eth only. No zcach , no dual mining no xmr..However, even then each gpu will spike and eventually you will go over 1000 and blow your psu.
I am sure you ignorantly responded " 1200W power supply should be able to support 6X RX 480" without even looking at the side of the psu which would have clearly stated what I am tellinmg you.

i am not sure what is above based on; instructions clearly say 1198.8W on 12v rail:
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-P2-1200-X1

he messed up something else OR his wiring is old OR EVGA is defective (least likely in the beginning, but likely now).

tried to send consolidated transactions and they are stuck.
it was cool before to get 30 payouts (or more) in one mo, but with current ridonculous fees it started to become a burden.
is there any chance for kano pool "accelerator" aka submitting tx to you for inclusion in the next block?
alternatively, don't sent them so often (not sure if it is possible).

i check my 'stuck' transaction (about 30 kano-inputs) and some services suggest $40 fee to "push" it...WTF?
The whole thing might come tumbling down soon if this continues for a while.
EDIT: viabtc says that tx does not exist. Well, it DOES exist on blockchain.info and blockexplorer.
5852  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [FOR SALE - SIDEHACK STICK] GekkoScience 2PAC - 2x BM1384 USB Stick Miner on: March 03, 2017, 02:49:58 AM
^^^you'll have to look very very closely to see the hairline difference in those.

I always wanted different colors, so I am grabbing a couple before they disappear or will be sent to EU (eventually).
It is like a collection item (to me), plus i will get them earlier than EU  Grin.

TL;DR

Several sticks that sidehack is talking about are visually different (black coloring scheme) vs the rest, which are green

Interesting how they were able to affected the 20PH of miners here already and stop them from making blocks also Cheesy
Kano's Spring Break. This coming block around 400% Smiley)
Since we have more Miners coming, could you reduce the pool fee to 0.5%?

come on, 0.9% is very, very modest by all accounts AND we are getting tx fees (not so for the antpool).

Possible floor at @1939$ on stamp, let's check it again after some hours. That was the Gold price this morning (1934$ right now), so it can be a good signal that the markets approve that btc > gold, but let's see if it is in the short term or in the long one.

Btw what are now saying those gold-supporter twitter accounts bearing about btc?  Grin Grin Grin

$1939? Back from the Future part unknown?
maybe some other $$, not USD  Grin
5856  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 02, 2017, 09:43:08 PM
None of my friends have mentioned bitcoin to me recently.

Now...these are the friends I was boring back in 2013/14 about it and when the shit hit the fan and it dropped to $200 I bought them all up. My friends know this.

This has all happened and not one of my mates has asked or text me about bitcoin.

Is this because:-

A. They all know the price now and don't want to talk about it as they feel sick knowing they laughed and made jokes.

B. They haven't even heard the news as the media have hardly reported on it.

C. They hate me and never liked me in the first place bitcoin or no bitcoin.

I always tell my friends that i will not give them buy/sell advice and I never do.
However, I did notice the same thing-nobody talked about it with me since last summer ($400).
I'll go with B, though. Maybe a little of A for some.
Ask a random guy on the street-they wouldn't now.
Older folks are into paypal, younger-venmo.
5857  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 02, 2017, 07:03:57 PM
As noted above, BITMAIN has issued $300 coupons for S9 purchases.  I have 2x of these that I will more than likely not be using.

Anyone looking to make a purchase in this batch, I'd be willing to transfer them for a fair price.  Private message me - US located.

you know that you got machine(s) from the worse batches if you got a fat coupon like this.
I would sell the coupon and keep the cash for a repair that might (or might not) happen.

I think they just understood that the price they set for their latest batch was way too high. Their new price is more appropriate.

what is the new price of new batch ?

It's there...$1464+shipping, so, maybe $1520-1524 for a 13.5TH...probably had a big customer reneging at prior (higher) price.
5858  Economy / Speculation / Re: BETI: Bitcoin Exponential Trend Index and technical analysis on: March 02, 2017, 05:55:06 PM
^^^Well, based on comparison with 2011-2013 we are coming up shallower, but had a couple of sharp bumpletts already.
Most likely scenarios:
1. we are about to undergo a "phase transition" and go for a sharp local super-exponential peak OR
2. wiggle down to -1.2-1.25 before doing #1

Both scenarios would favor long positions, but wiggle down to $800-900 might be possible on ETF rejection, for example, which would be hopefully dismissed by the market.
jl2012 provides numbers for the all-time high, but I am curious, what would 1 or 1.5 peak look like in current numbers (1.87 might be too extreme).

the formula for BETI = x is: 3166.72 * e ^ x. For x = 1, it's $8608

making $8608-14912 a possible supra-exponential peak.
If it happens, I might sell 10-30% there, most likely.

Bitcoin's market cap (current) is about $20.2 bil
SNAP (today's IPO) $35.3 bil

We shall see what happens in 4-5 years.
