Good players you see at the moment win a lot of games because they play against not so skilled players. But in an olympic setting with only pro playing, it would be all about luck. And thats not the spirit of olympic competition.
Have you ever actually played games like Fortnite? It is simply not true that professional players only win because they play against not so skilled players. Just watch the games in the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. There you can see the best players from all over the world playing against each other. "Luck" is only a very small deciding factor here:

https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/competitive/de/events/world-cup

The games were preceded by very long qualifying phases. Even if you were lucky with drops 1.2 times, you had to perform very well over weeks to be allowed to participate in the World Cup.

I am not saying that the people competing in the final tournaments got there only by randomness. Of course they are skilled players who have to work hard to get there. But the game has by itself randomness in it, which weapons drop where, etc. Thats why Dota 2 or CSGO are so great for the competitive seen, it's a fixed setting. The spawns are fixed, the end is fixed too.

In that worldcup you got points for being placed on the top, so with good RNG and only becoming 2nd or 3rd everygame you could still become the world champion. The fortnite format is just not great for Olympics.
5882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Poker Odds Calculator is a Perfect Tool for Poker? on: June 27, 2020, 09:54:48 AM
I think this is the same calculator that they are using at poker games streamed on television.
Right?
You can see percentage of winning of one player just as the camera saw his cards.
But it changes. Even a 2 and 3 of diamonds could get a high chance of winning once the flop happened.
Pair of Aces can lose any time once every card is facing up.
That is why I want to finish it at the start when I have that pair.  Grin

I don't think it's a good tool for me, anything could happen.

Same here. LOL!

It may sound absurd but I sometimes do all in if I have that card. No need to wait for the flop. Make the bad cards fold as early as possible and deprive them of ever seeing their probability of winning rise.

It is better to let the game end like a purely random game rather than have your pair of aces be defeated by a 2 and a 6. LOL! Grin

It all depends on what you are planning to do with poker. If you only play once every two weeks with friends, I get your approach. It's all about having fun. The variance in your cards is much higher.

But if you actually play thousands of hands over a longer period of time (good players easily play 4-8 tables at once on multiple screens) then going all in randomly is not the best approach. Over a long period of time AA will beat 26 off easily.
5883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess on Sports/eSports betting on: June 27, 2020, 07:46:04 AM
I really enjoy the surge in popularity of chess. The new blitz tournaments are awesome to watch. I think the change from normal games to 3-5min time slots per player are just awesome. It increased the attractiveness chess to a lot of people who had nothing to do with chess before and then adding streaming on top is just wonderful. Seeing the top 20 chess players in the world thinking and analysing live on the internet the game is just awesome.  Betting on chess tournaments should grow in my opinion to make the sport even more attractive.

According this two news,
https://www.economist.com/leaders/2020/06/27/why-the-next-olympics-should-include-fortnite
https://techcrunch.com/2020/06/18/why-the-olympics-should-add-esports/
there is a big/huge interest to see eSPORTS like Fortnite in Olympics Games! (Starting soon with Tokyo 2021).

I was wondering.. there are official tournaments or site that give the option for bettings?
Since there are a lot of players it could be really interest try to win some bets... Any bookmaker or similar service?

If there is more demand for esports betting in the future I am sure the major bookmakers will increase there betting offers for other games and tournaments.

But seeing fortnite in the olympic games seems crazy to me. Sure we there are millions of people playing it but the game is with so much randomness, for example which weapons to find, how many people land near you, etc.

Good players you see at the moment win a lot of games because they play against not so skilled players. But in an olympic setting with only pro playing, it would be all about luck. And thats not the spirit of olympic competition.
5885  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus Outbreak on: June 27, 2020, 07:25:54 AM
Texas, California, and Florida are having coronavirus surges and apparently it's concentrated among young people. Usually there'd be a lag in the amount of deaths reported prior to surges, so I'm not sure if we'll see a spike in deaths or not considering the least likely demographic to die from coronavirus are getting infected. And according to Mike Pence in the press conference today (and what we already knew), most cases are asymtomatic.

Still though, Texas is rolling back a lot of their reopening measures - https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/26/texas-rolls-back-its-reopening-a-day-after-pausing-plans-as-coronavirus-cases-rise.html

Luckily the death rates among younger people is fairly low compared to the elderly generations. In general the ratio of severe vs mild courses of corona are much worth for people above 40.

I think it's alright for younger people to enjoy life again and relax the security measures. But everyone should still wear a mask and keep distances when interacting with older people.
5886  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the economy supposed to be a political tools? on: June 27, 2020, 07:09:35 AM

I think the economy is a management tool in the hands of the government. After all, the government takes all decisions taking into account the current situation on the country's market and regulates this situation by issuing various resolutions. In a crisis and taking into account the economic decline, the government takes forced measures and this can cause inflation and other negative consequences for countries.

Before the governments the economy was the tool of the Kings of every country. Even now many countries still have very wealthy kings, most of the times with limited powers. So in the end the government is just the aggregation of all the people in a country. Without such a pooling of powers by a government, the people would look very bad compared to other countries.

There might some bad consequences from the government, but without it, it would be even worse.
5887  Other / Politics & Society / Re: why socialism? on: June 26, 2020, 05:48:13 AM
Perhaps you should read bookchin or at least get a basic understanding about how some of these places operate or their philosophy before coming to those blanket conclusions.  Purely democratic states do not involve rules or a state.  Just groups of people agreeing to do things together with voluntary participation.

You are forgetting about one thing.  95% of people are complete idiots.

In a true democracy, you would not be able to agree which leaves to use to wipe your ass.
Never mind running a complex society.

No matter the political system, you need leaders, you need a ruling class.

Socialism makes almost everyone as poor as a church mouse.

We need meritocracy, not socialism.

But people are lazy, we have seen it in so many societies in the past. Once wealth (i.e. land, resources, other forms of power) is accumulated it will always be easier for the following generations just ot live off that wealth and redistritubte it. Socialism sounds so nice for most of the people, why not increase your standard of living without actually doing anything? Wouldn't it be nice to get a lot of benefits for free?

Of course socialism will fail in the long run, but this might be after your time. So why bother? In Europe socialism is spread everywhere - it's so sad =/
5888  Economy / Economics / Re: High prices mean even higher volatility on: June 26, 2020, 05:42:28 AM
Based on my experienced while doing trade move higher volatility when the price go up because the demand increasing at the same time but be careful when the price go up because it will go down drastically, that's why always watch your buy and sell order to make sure that you will make profit and avoid loses. Those higher volatility is also a chance to earn if you know how to play with it.

It's best to work with limit orders so you don't sell by mistake a quick downturn.

But who knows what the real price for 1 Bitcoin is? Since there is a fixed supply we can only speculate about the price. Also with inflation and expansionary monetary policies the price for bitcoin is only up. With a higher price bitcoin doesn't not need to be more volatile - if the price would be rising constantly for a year, the volatility would be very small - just avoid panic sells.
5889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FOX prepared to add virtual fans and crowd noise to NFL broadcasts on: June 25, 2020, 02:48:59 PM
It's really one of the downsides of this pandemic that we really have to deal with and adjust almost on everything. I wonder how long should we live like this?

Who knows, maybe it's the new normal now?  Sad

But honestly, watching sports in empty stadiums without any crowds cheering seems a bit sad for me. In comedy movies it's normal to add laughters, why not for sports? It definitely increases the excitments.

It's same with so many people watching reactions online. They don't only want to watch the content but also some background noises of normal people.

I think it's a good idea. Atleast until the stadiums are sold out again and real fans are back.
5890  Other / Politics & Society / Re: One Million Trees on: June 25, 2020, 02:45:23 PM
Trees help save our lives We take oxygen from the tree Therefore the more trees we plant the more beautiful our surroundings are going to be there's no comparison of Paris in terms of tree planting. Not just road ghats but just rows of trees next to everyone's house which is extremely nice that's why we all got to stop killing forests and plant more trees.

Trees don't live forever it makes sense to eventually clear forrest, as long as you plant more new trees than you harvet.

Some trees even need wildfire to actually spread. The Sequoias in California need a lot of space to grow and only release their seeds during fires.

We should take care of our evironment, which doesn't mean to never use wood again.

I have been planting trees once a year since I was a kid. It's a great way to do something for nature will spending a weekend outside.
5891  Economy / Economics / Re: The Covid19 Curve is Flattening on: June 25, 2020, 02:28:28 PM
I guess it will be back to square one, and for sure economy will be hit hard if not harder than the first wave because people are going to be more scared to go out and afraid that they are going to be the next victims.

It simply cant be harder then the first time. 1. some already have immunity (sadly in countries that locked down strict not that many).  2. companies and businesses are more ready. They remodelled business processes and they modified their working environment to have their workers more isolated.  3. there is more available hospital beds and respirators and more available masks as it was in first wave.  So this are 3 reasons why economy will not be hit as hard as in first wave. What will be hit harder is People, company and country budgets. For the first wave they had saved reserves. Now those reserves are dried out and second wave will be pure debt.

I fully agree with you, any new wave of corona will be not as severe as the first one. Our understanding of the virus was basically not existent at the beginning of this year. Everyone thought it only a local virus in China. Who would have thought that it will spread all around the world so quickly? Even if people won't be immune towards the next wave of corona we will still be better equiped to deal with the new outbreak. Also, the people are more sensible now towards the subject. For example all people wearing masks in public was not being thought of in western country. And now its the new reality. We humans are resilient.
5892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Before Experience On Gambling...!!!! Stay Safe. on: June 25, 2020, 08:12:50 AM
If I see your story in the opening post, I'm very sure you gambler addicted. My advice control yourself, and don't let it gambling controls you.
If you can't afford it, you should ask for a psychiatrist's help before it's too late. Love yourself, for playing gambling during recess is not a good
thing for your body's health. And also love the closest people around you, make them happy with you trying to control your desire to gamble.
Because I'm sure you play gambling to look for fun, not to ruin your life.

I am not sure if he is really an addict yet. It's depends on how much he gamble the rest of the day. And if this happens every night or once every 2 weeks. Also the betting size would play a role I believe, if it's only micro amounts it should be better than playing for large sums.

How many people are watching TV or youtube on the laptop to fall asleep? I wouldn't call them addicts. Or how many people are watching memes and other funny stuff on their phone while trying to sleep? Sometimes it's just hard to fall asleep, make sure it's not every night.
5893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Am I wrong or right share your opinion please on: June 25, 2020, 07:13:56 AM
It would be helpfull if you can post some parts of your converstaion (maybe some screenshots)

In the end if the owner of the site made a mistake (do you have any proof - again screenshot would be great) you can just ask for your money back.

I would try to keep contacting the support, if you don't get any satisfying reply it might be worth to send a real letter to their company.

Make sure to store every information.
5894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker games that are providing free plays to earn real money on: June 25, 2020, 07:09:36 AM
I think time spent playing a betting game (even the free ones) should at least be proportional to the value or benefit derived from playing the game. Bettors need to factor in time and not just money in their betting activities. Time well spent on things is important in most cases.

But it's free, No company can just offer free money for a long period of time without any return. If you would give every gambler benefits for their time spent playing your free game, the casino would just go bust. It's all about having a lot of people invest their time and eventually real money, for a few lucky guys to receive a prize.

In the end if the people would just work on an hourly salary everyone (except for the winner) would be better off monetarily.
5895  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is China going to dominate the world? on: June 25, 2020, 07:04:20 AM
I think it is possible for China to become the next superpower. If you look at human history all empires rise, peak and then fall. Look at the Roman Empire, Dutch Empire, British, etc. No Empire can last forever. Me living in the USA I can see how everything is falling apart.

I agree but at the moment the Chinese military is no match for the USA. It will still take a long time for china to surpass the west. The trade wars will likely continue and intensify. Don't forget China is being build on the back of their own population offering products to the west.

I don't think the West will just follow China in their communistic dictatorship approach to run a country. Eventually the chinese people will demand more rights. I would assume we will see an alignment of China with the west in the long run. You can't controll your population for ever with increasing technology.
5896  Economy / Economics / Re: What if this pandemic persists till the end of the year? on: June 25, 2020, 07:00:03 AM
It's almost 6 months since the coronavirus took its toll on every aspect of human lives. it has been accompanied by widescale job loss, a rise in the unemployment rate, a reduced standard of living, and intense hardship. From the economic perspective, what will be the fate of the global economic situation and normal day to day business if this pandemic doesn't go away by the end of this year?

Unfortuanelty the chances of corona still being around next year are not so small. COVID 19 infected the hole world with million of cases everywhere. There is not one circle of corona around the world, but different states in different countries. Like NZ already being corona free or European countries already containing the virus and reopening the country. But in South America or India for example the numbers are still rising.
Once international travels become normal again a potential spread of corona could happen very fast again. Especially if there will be new variants of covid, smiliar to the flu.
5897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "NEW NORMAL" Betting on: June 24, 2020, 05:41:27 AM
Then, would it be best if they have just visit some fancy aquariums? (a certain place where you can find good quality whores) There are also some certain clubs that has VIP Rooms and they can do what they want especially gambling.
That would be the best choice if that was the aim rather than a casino LoL
That will be a side effect if they visit someplace which have a fancy aquarium lol Grin
But I am sure that the luxurious casino will have that room, and not all members can use those rooms unless they are a VIP or VVIP member who always spends a lot of money on playing gambling on that casino. Although they have those rooms, they still need to check every VIP or VVIP members and all of the employees who will enter that room, so all of them are clean from the virus.

As always the big wales will be playing seperatelty from the peasants  Cheesy Own private rooms, private dealers, better food and drinks, etc.

But you can't be a 100% that a employee is not carrying the virus. You would have to test that person everyday and still then its not guaranteed. I think the security especially for the high rollers will be very good.

5898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Physical Casinos Decoded : on: June 24, 2020, 05:31:54 AM
If someone is keep winning more bets then casinos will intentionally ban them from playing there, this is biggest untold truth behind every successful casino. They offer lot of free perks for you to enjoy and make you guilty about not spending enough money.
I don't think that casino's will ban someone unless they are caught cheating or suspecting that they are cheating. Of course if you keep on winning, alarms will be raised and you will be put under the microscope. If didn't find anything suspicious then you are good, but we all know that  luck doesn't last. Sooner or later, the house edge will caught up on you.

If you play every day in casino and go home every night with some winnings, the casino security will definitely notice after a while. Security will first of all monitor and keep an eye on you if you are cheating or use any other other tricks like card counting before baning outright people from their casino.
And if you are just winning randomly big time on the roulette table there won't be any security coming to escort you out of the casino. Most of the times people who win big in casinos will gamble most of it away afterwards.
5899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: June 23, 2020, 06:27:47 AM
This means that there was something wrong with the preparation for the return of sports matches due to the fact that there was a player who was confirmed to be in the coronavirus. And in that case, sports events can be stopped again and the rest of the league will be lit. Maybe they are too excite and rush so there are missed processes and not all are safe.

The best would be to put all the athletes with their families and teams into one isolated city where no one is allowed to enter or leave. Then there would be no risk of corona virus getting in or out. Also the players wouldn't need to travel and fly anymore as everyone is in one place already. You would only need playing fields as there won't be any visitors except the camera crews. Every new person wanting to come into that city would need to be on a 2 week quarantine to ensure safety.
5900  Economy / Economics / Re: How in the world we going to restart the world economy ? on: June 23, 2020, 06:20:31 AM
I think it's hard to judge the hole economy just after a few months. We should wait a few more months to actually look at the economy numbers.People still have money in their pockets and the governments are print more of it to inject into the economy.
Due to corona every big investment is kind of on hold until the we are having better outlooks for the future. Home sellers are waiting instead of selling at a discount at the moment. Car buyers are waiting too for better prices or just an up tick in employment again.
I believe for most people cash is king at the moment. Investments will pick up again.
