5901  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gas prices, why do people pay that much more for a "brand" on: July 07, 2020, 09:09:08 AM
I can't really answer that question for Germany, because here it seems different. People prefer to buy the cheapest gas for their cars. On a big street overhere we have a the big name gas stations and normally a few hundred meters further we have the low budge gas station with lower prices. Everytime I pass the gas stations there are more cars for the budget gas. But in the end it's probably all the same gas anyways and they just try to sell more.
The only difference is that the brand gas stations have a premium gas for high end sports cars. But I barely see people actually using it. I guess the Germans are looking more to save money than anything else.
5902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Physical Casinos Decoded : on: July 07, 2020, 09:04:45 AM
The first time I went to a casino, it feels like I don't want to go home and stay for a longer time, the lounge is very cozy , the staffs are very accommodating, there are a lot of freebies, feels like home to me,you are treated like a king especially if you are with a high bettor and high roller.

It's just a good casino, man. This is their job so that you can comfortably spend your money and enjoy the game. Time flies in the casino. That is why it is much more pleasant to play in a regular casino than in an online casino.

Yeah I agree, going to onsite casinos is all about the atmosphere and flair. For me it's more about having a good time than actually winning big - I prefer games like poker and black jack. The upsite is fairly limited if you only play a few hours. Sure you can have a good streak but in the end I just end up spending most of the money for a 5 star dinner and a some expensive drinks. Playing online in a casino however it's more about winning. I am focusing more on my bankroll and always try to save some winnings. It's hard to compare playing online in your living room to being on a huge gambling floor with many people around you having a good time.
5903  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we rely on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency? on: July 07, 2020, 08:14:37 AM
Some people are already relying or relied on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency before the pandemic even came. People use the Cryptocurrency Industry as their job and they have not left that job because they are gaining profits from it. If we learn more and utilize our knowledge regarding this matter, we can surely do something profitable or useful about it.

For a jobless person like me, instead of doing nothing in my free time, I guess it is better for me to learn about stuffs that I have not known yet and look for things that can help me gain profit in the future.

Investing time to learn more about crypto currencies is very useful and owning bitcoins is even better. Bitcoin will not go away, it's already spread and being used by so many people around the world. Just by looking at the bitcoin price we can see how stable the price is, and managed to get through the crisis so far without really being affected that much. Of course there was a big drop in March, but which asset class didn't tank in March this year? There are many more mid cap stocks that are much more volatile than bitcoins. I believe we all can rely on bitcoins for the future.
5904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Potential Valorant Esports betting sites on: July 07, 2020, 07:13:30 AM
Valorant is awesome, it reminds me cs 1.6 when it comes to mechanics and weapon recoil.
As for betting I've seen that Thunderpick is offering bets on valorant matches.
So far I've seen only few, but once scene grows and more tournaments will appear it will surely become better.
TBH I believe that the game can get as big as CSGO

I don't now if valorant will get as a big as CSGO. There is a huge hype at the moment and many streamers switched games. Who knows how long this is going to continue. As for betting there wasn't really a big market when APEX Legends came out, people where hyped too but in the end no real market materialized. So far watching valorant games on twitch is fun and enteraining. I really hope it stays around.

Did you actually bet yet on a game?
5905  Economy / Economics / Re: Growing number of institutionnal investors on: July 07, 2020, 06:59:35 AM
~snip~

Well, that's the same as the 2/3 of us actually using cryptocurrencies, they're not here for the tech or the development or whatever. They're also here only for speculating and take their profits.
What's the difference in terms of motivation? When it's institutional investors it's a problem but when it's random individual it's not anymore a problem.

To some degree, institutional investors are problem to the market when compared to random individual buying his first bitcoin. When an individual wants to invest in cryptocurrencies, he will place bid at current market price (maybe little less or more) which will contribute organically to the market growth. But on the other side, imagine if someone wrote 5 minutes call options worth $10M and then intentionally bought $20M worth of Bitcoin in an open market so that price drop by 1-2% in next 5 minutes. Everyone who bought call option won't exercise the option because it will lead to loss. Premium paid by the buyers on Option of $10M will become profits of the writer. This is how big players (institutional investors) can easily manipulate the organic growth of unregulated markets like that of Bitcoin.

Not sure if I really understand this, but why would the prices drop 1-2% if someone buys $20M worth of bitcoins? Shouldn't the price go up since a lot of sell orders will be filled instantly in the exchange? Sorry if I am missing something here but having institutional investors invest heavily into crypto currencies should force prices upwards, or not? Also, why would you want to exercise your options? Just hold them until prices go up even further.
5906  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long can the gov keep up the economic lie: downplaying the pandemic? on: July 07, 2020, 06:53:59 AM
Everyday via TV citizens are reminded:
- Virus is just temporary
- Vaccine coming (it may not)
- V shaped recovery
- Deaths will be low
- Virus will magicly go away by easter  Roll Eyes
- might do another simulus check  Roll Eyes
- unemployment is low

The goal of these lies are to get people to keep spending and not sell 401k.
How long can keep the lies going, before people realize we're fucked

I think they are tying to downplay the corona crisis until elections in November, but this is still so far away. What if the numbers keep rising until autumn this year? Everyone can check the statistics themself, there is no point in believing the various TV news when there are statistics online available. It looks really bad at the moment.
5907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 1.1 BTC in 35 Days on Sportsbet.io on: July 06, 2020, 05:14:18 PM
thank you guys for all your good wishes, about addiction thing, i can say its addiction for sure but as you know all addictions has levels. For now at least i am still able to withdraw funds completely and give a break. I dont know with what amount or when i would start again, but definitely it wouldnt be whole amount.

And lastly about risk taking, i would like to point out that my initial bankroll was 0.19 btc only , later on as bankroll got bigger with profits, my betting amounts increased as well, but i gotta say there that most of the money that i m risking here was profits. Since only initial bankroll itself was earned money, i dont consider that as a big amount to risk to say the truth.

Congratulations on your winnings, 1.1 BTC return on such a small starting balance is awesome and that in a little bit more than a month. I saw that most of your bets had Odds of 1.35 to 2, which seems like a good range. But the number of bets are a lot, a little bit too much betting for me. Will you keep betting all your bankroll or do plan on cashing out some winnings?

5908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luckyfish accepting kids on: July 06, 2020, 05:06:25 PM
I have just discovered my son ,14 years old  gambling in this site.

How dare you letting Kids register into your site.

How can i report this site as It is illegal  for Kids to gamble and its illegal for casinos to accento minors.

I'm not even sure why this site is operating in England without a UK license.

I'm looking for your license to report your site but I can't find it anywhere.

I'm furious., u have not shame..

Can someone advise me where to report this casino?

The thing with most casino sites is, the just ask you if you are 18 but don't actually verify it. Especially at the age of 14 boys want to rebel against the system and faking their birth date just seems kind of not so bad compared to other things possible at that age (alcohol and drugs). It would be good for you to monitor the online activity of your son to really see whats going on. Better not to rely on good corporate governance.
5909  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Kanye joking on: July 06, 2020, 04:58:01 PM
A couple times in the past Trump would have something coming out like a book or whatever, and he would get the press to push it by saying how he was considering running for President.

Kanye just released a single and announced a new album. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what he's really doing.

It's just crazy to see him abusing the media for this. There should be laws against it. It's obvious he doesn't want to be president and just promote his music. I hope people won't fall for this and actually buy more of his music
5910  Economy / Economics / Re: The freer the market, the freer the people? on: July 06, 2020, 04:53:46 PM
The freer the market, the freer the people

Do you agree with that? In this community, the 80% of the members would say yes, because bitcoin is a completely liberal currency. I would just like to know if you disagree or agree and why.

In my opinion, if you leave the market free, both good and bad things will happen, but I think that most of them will be bad. You just can't leave them free. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is something different. It's the thing I exclude from this thought, although, we have left it completely free, and we can see the mountains it has created with its price. Something that isn't good for mankind. Again, in my opinion.

I think that a free country desires in some extent a free market. But for most Western Countries where we see a high degree of "free" democracies the are a lot of force trying to change the country into more socialism. A real free market we don't see at all at the moment. Most countries subsidies some sectors while having special taxes on imports. Just looking at the trade wars of the West vs China or Russia, free markets are still a long way to go.
5911  Economy / Economics / Re: world war 3 is coming ...do to coronavirus / economy ... on: July 06, 2020, 04:43:37 PM
The issue of Covid-19 is no way near to causing a war between countries or among a citizens of a country. It is a general Problem for everyone and so far so good all countries have been supportive in some way or the other to a fellow country.

Actually it will not look good because millions of people across the world are losing job or lost it, 0.5 million people till now have lost their life and still counting and later on if the world knows this was purposely being spread it will have a bad effect on that country. We are already witnessing some tensions in some countries are mounting may not be due to Covid but things can get ugly.

I don't believe there will be another world war. Very likely we will see a depression, recessions are already here for many countries. And it will get very ugly in the next 6 months. But a world war? The times of big wars with millions of people fighting on the battlefield are over. If there will be a big war it's all about who has more nukes.
5912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there any successful and relatively new casinos? on: July 05, 2020, 06:56:22 AM
There are still new rooms there are a lot of new casinos now and they are launching a new signature campaign this is to make a noise an introduce themselves to the community, they may not get a big share of the market immediately but they have a good chance to succeed if they continue the promotion and maintain a good repuation.

I think it will take some time to actually judge new casinos if they are successful. We are still in crisis mode, a lot of people have more spare time due to covid 19. Even though people are less likely to spend a lot of money we are seeing gambler who usually went to onsite casinos now switching to online gambling.
For a casino to really be successful it would need to survive the times after the corona crisis. I really hope the online platforms for casino remains more diversified in the future.
5913  Economy / Economics / Re: Rise in US unemployment. Thoughts? on: July 05, 2020, 06:48:04 AM
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/jun/18/us-unemployment-claims-rise-coronavirus-economy-latest

Base in this website almost 45 million peoples are filling unemployment in a past three months , and that is the big struggle in US. US still find a cure and maintain the health protocol to secure a country but we dont know the time can US recover this pandemic.

I think the unemployment rates are correlated with corona numbers, as long as we are seeing rising number of corona cases also the unemployment will keep rising. But as soon as the curve is flattening again, or a vaccine is available for general population. The numbers should drop drastically.
People shifted their purchases of non essential goods into the future, so demand should pick up again once the outlook for the future is better.
5914  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ghislaine Maxwell Arrested on: July 05, 2020, 06:35:10 AM

Indeed. I remember the name, seems she started out and for a while was a fashion model, maybe French.

Odd the twists and turns and humps life doled out.

PS: I looked her up on wikipedia. Her past is pretty dark...

She was Epstein's right hand..
She'll prolly be suicided just like him soon..

If something would happen to her now it would be so obvious. I mean the hole world if watching now. Let's see, I can't believe they will try another "suicide"

Is there any betting on her life expectancy?
5915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: July 04, 2020, 11:27:51 AM
Degens Exchange has Trump at 44% and Biden at 60% - https://degens.com/?sport=Politics

Technically you don't have Biden at 60%, but the field, which makes the 1.667 (sorry, I always calculate in decimal odds Cheesy) good, since Betfair has 1.71 for Biden and you have lower commission from all I know. The Field then covers any medical issues for Biden - but also for Trump, because he can get sick as well, so if I was to bet against Trump, I would probably prefer your odds.

But those odds for Trump are shitty with 2.23 compared to Betfairs 2.84 right now, even with commission advantage.

Thanks for the update. Betting on Biden seems a good bet at the moment. But I also think betting at least some money on Trump could be a good hedge for the next election. I am waiting for better odds to get a good payout. Who knows how the campaign will end, it's probably just another coin toss like with Hillary.

5916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: July 04, 2020, 11:22:22 AM
In the meantime, we should avoid visiting sports sites.
No one will allow you to visit sporting events if you don't have any permission or you don't have to do something important within the area. Only authorized people will be allowed to be present on those events for streaming purposes and other staffs that will be working for the management.
So as a typical fan, I doubt it that there will be people who will be allowed by a management or even close to the team that will play.

It probably will take a long time until sport events will be back to normal. As long as the corona numbers are so high, it would be completely reckless to open up the big stadiums again. Fortunately for sports betting the impact is not so big.

We just have to be patient and get used to watching sports only on TV for a while.
5917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery help? on: July 04, 2020, 11:08:18 AM
You already have the basic that it's impossible to predict the numbers of a lottery. But it's not only about chosing the correct numbers. If you want to write a guide for new lottery players I would take an approach to try to maximize the value from a lottery.
One appraoch would be to work in a team. If you split the lottery tickets with other players than you don't have to pay so much upfront and are able to buy more ticket (increasing your winning chances). Of course if you win you have to share your winnings with your team, but since most people prefer big winnings it's a decent trade off. So splitting 20$ with 10 people doesn't make a big difference, and splitting $100 Million with 10 people seems fine to if your chances are much higher.
Another approach if you prefer to win really big a lone, would be to avoid common numbers such as 3, 6 13, 19. etc. Most people tend to pick theirs, or family members birthdays; or other specific dates.
5918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Potential Valorant Esports betting sites on: July 04, 2020, 09:13:59 AM
I didn't know this, can you spill some of it? I wanna know the teams  Cheesy
Also became curious though, recently, few of colleagues started to play this game as an alternative for CS GO. While being one of the hottest game in todays' news, they are continuously making a discussion which players of CS GO are migrating to Valorant. They sent a link containing a list of pro players specifically in CS GO.

You'll see a lot of streamers of FPS games switching to Valorant these days, as we know it is hot as a newly baked pancake, just like every games does every launch. I started playing Valorant last week and I can say is that it is really a CS:GO type of FPS with added skill,  I already mentioned it before. I've been following NRG Aceu FPS game player in youtube for like months now, I've watch him dominate the Apex Legends and twitch rivals, now he's playing valorant and it seems like he's totally in switched from Apex to Valorant. It's been a while since I watched him play Apex legends.

But who knows how long this trend will continue. It's mostly streamers swichting from games like Fortnite, Pubg, Apex, etc. It's not really new players who haven't played before now starting to play because of Valorant. Likely we will see another game coming out in 6 month and then the players start shifting again. It's really hard for a game to be around for a long period of time.
On twitch at the moment even Call of Duty has more viewers than Valorant - not mention Mobas such as LoL.
5919  Other / Politics & Society / Re: S. Korea ponders naming churches coronavirus danger zones on: July 04, 2020, 07:51:12 AM
~If you want to pray, is praying in a group worth being a transmission vector for a virus?

Of course not. No one is forcing believers to have group prayers.
In fact, the person who wants to pray doesn't need anything at all. You can pray anywhere and at any time, of course, except Muslims who pray at a certain time.

I agree, there is no reason to be praying all at once in one special place. Your connection to God can be from anywhere. But if you really need to go to a church, then entrances should be limited and very spread out.
The risk of spreading the virus during a mass gathering during worship services is very high.  Only one corona infected could easily infest 200-300 more people. We need to be keep distance
5920  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Strategies to Face the Next Crisis on: July 04, 2020, 07:38:57 AM

All in all ,you need to become economically ,resourceful and strategic. Save keep  what you have in this pandemic situation because we all don't know when it will stop or if when is the cure for the virus so that we can live a normal life again.

On an individual level your strategy seems very good, but for the hole economy it's not very helping. With cutting down spending you will just worsen the crisis for everyone. Cutting down unnecessary spending seems good but if everyone stops spending, where will the economic recovery coming from?
Same for trying to avoid investing in risky assets. So far the stock market is pretty resilient to the crisis. If you would sell all your risky assets and just hold cash then you will be losing money every year due to inflation. Being risk averse is good, just not too much, you might miss out on the recovery.
