5941  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your NBA Champion this season? on: May 10, 2022, 08:15:09 PM
Now that Embiid seems to be healthy enough to carry the 76ers, I wouldn’t put it past them to make it to the Finals. I like the Embiid/Giannis matchup and hope we get to see them in the Eastern Conference Finals. Also hoping we see a Warriors/Suns matchup in the West. I like Embiid and the Sixers though. I think they’ve got a decent shot at winning it all if Embiid can continue getting healthier. I really feel like the Bucks/Sixers/Warriors are the only teams left capable of winning the championship at this point with the Bucks still being the defending champions and team to beat.
5942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor margin call if Bitcoin dumps below $21,000 on: May 10, 2022, 03:53:39 PM
According to Saylor, this talk of him being liquidated is just FUD.  You can see in his tweet today he claims that his company can survive a drop below $10K without an issue, and even below $4K he seems to think he'll be able to keep his leveraged trade active.

Quote
MicroStrategy has a $205M term loan and needs to maintain $410M as collateral. $MSTR has 115,109 BTC that it can pledge. If the price of #BTC falls below $3,562 the company could post some other collateral. See slides 11-12 in Q1 2022 presentation. #HODL

Not sure if I totally believe him here, but he certainly has some options before letting his current trade get liquidated.

Anyone having any login issues on Stake this morning?  I haven't been able to login in spite of multiple attempts.  The issue I'm having seems to be in relation to the email confirmation to log in.  After solving the captcha it takes me back to the login screen with my username and password, but no popup for the email code or email being sent.  This results in the only option being to click on the login button again, which brings you back to solving the captcha, which then leads you back to the login screen.  Is anyone else seeing an issue with the email code entrance popup not loading or no emails being sent?  Wondering if it may be a browser issue, as that tends to be the problem when TOR has been recently updated.
5944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 10, 2022, 03:10:25 PM
Great night for NBA basketball. 76ers vs Heat and Mavericks vs Suns. Both games are game 4 of the series and both matchups are tied 2-2 in a best of 7. Tonight we’ll see who is going to have their backs against the wall. The games are also being televised on TNT so Shaq, Ernie, Chuck, & Kenny will be around for the comedic relief during breaks. Personally I think the Suns have this in the bag and now that a few more days have passed I’m hoping Embiid can be healthy enough to carry the 76ers past the Heat. I thought for sure they were done once Embiid was injured, but he’s showing how much of a beast he is by coming back so quick.
5945  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you see in this chart? on: May 10, 2022, 05:42:30 AM
I wanna know from you guys, what do you think where are we going?  Roll Eyes

I can’t say I know where we’re going in the future from looking at that chart. I can say that it looks like it is at a critical support level and will either bounce to new highs or retest the previous support level, which appears to be quite low.
5946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 10, 2022, 05:40:04 AM
Al Horford had himself a game. 30 points for the old guy against an MVP in Giannis. On top of the Gianni’s had a bad shooting night but put up huge numbers himself. I didn’t expect the Celtics to win another game against the Bucks but they’re showing that they can compete. Horford and Taytum carried them tonight.

No real surprise with the Warriors game. The Grizzlies put up a good fight without Ja Morant though. I didn’t expect that they’d keep the game so close.
5947  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Here come the GPUs!!! on: May 09, 2022, 10:21:01 PM
Just as an FYI as of this weekend NiceHash and others have released mining software that gets around the LHR for ETH for most cards.
https://twitter.com/NiceHashMining/status/1523739588048474112
Just tested and it does work. You need the full miner not the quick miner and it's Windows only at the moment.

Going to be interesting to see if this changes the pricing over the next few days / weeks.

-Dave

I'm not sure it'll have a positive effect on pricing.  Especially considering we're in a downward spiral.  More hashrate from smaller miners (I assume most LHR owners are little guys) probably means more big operations getting their profit margins squeezed while at the same time smaller miners have more revenue coming in that they will likely immediately dump on the market.  Who knows though, markets aren't exactly the most rational things.  Any increased demand for LHR miners I assume will likely be supplied by those who bought GPUs at higher exchange rates and now are looking at the low exchange rate as an opportunity to earn an ROI in their crypto of choice.

Glad to hear the unlock works, but I may wait until other miners get it figured out before I take the plunge.
5948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash - 100% LHR Unlock on: May 09, 2022, 10:15:41 PM
Very interesting.  I'm also not very interested in this at the moment due to profitability and the fact that summer and it's demonic heat are quickly approaching my neck of the woods.  In fact, I've shut down a few miners already but maybe with this 100% LHR unlock I'll think about firing up my one LHR model to see how it goes.  Mostly I hope that this doesn't stay a secret for long and other miners are able to accomplish this same unlock so that we aren't stuck using Nicehash software.  I don't see any reason why on anything besides a LHR model you would use their software, so maybe this is a big opportunity for them to win some market share.
5949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 09, 2022, 09:56:21 PM
I confess that I underestimated the Dallas Mavericks and unfortunately I suffered some defeats, I believe this serves as a lesson.

The Mavericks surprised me by beating the Suns with team basketball last game.  I don't think that will continue, but as far as tonight goes...  I'm not expecting any surprises.  I think the Warriors win easily over the Grizzlies and the Bucks should be able to take down the Celtics.  Giannis himself seemed to insinuate during the last after game press conference that the refs weren't exactly calling a fair game.  Most likely he'll be able to step up and take care of business tonight.  Without Ja Morant at 100% though, Steph and the Warriors should be able to beat the Grizzlies by 20+ tonight.  Both games on TNT.  Smiley
5950  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Menstral Equity? Oregon requiring tampons in kindergarten boys bathrooms? on: May 09, 2022, 07:51:19 PM
Why are my tax dollars being wasted like this? How long before urinals are required in women’s restrooms?

Actually, I who think that gender theory is garbage, I think that the best thing to do for the future is to gradually make all WCs mixed, so that each person regardless of their biology (sex) or how they feel (the so-called gender) can enter without any problem. Of course with shared vestibule and individual compartments, as in the changing rooms, as I explained in the fluid gender garbage thread.

That sounds expensive to "retrofit" old bathrooms to this.  It is probably the long term solution though given how everyone is questioning gender these days.  If pedophiles and rapists weren't a thing, it would be the obvious solution.

Why are my tax dollars being wasted like this?

In the same way that your taxpayer dollars are spent on a thousand other ideological issues.

Hence why I'm a conservative.  I'm with whatever party claims they'll spend the least amount of money.  I think when the country runs a deficit, politicians should get pay cuts or receive some sort of strike against their record.  3 strikes and you're out.  That's a term limit law I could get behind.  We'd instantly solve the budget crisis with this one move.

I have a couple that I got from the last batch and am willing to sell one since they are sold out on the website and it’s heating up outside. Let me know if you have any questions and I’d be happy to answer them for you. I started a thread about it that you can view in this section of the forum here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5397731.0

…or you can just send me a personal message directly and let me know what price you’re paying and where you’re located. Thanks and good luck with finding your BTC Apollos.
5952  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish market continues? on: May 09, 2022, 06:34:59 PM
It certainly feels like the sky is falling. We’re cleaning all the leverage out of the system. This can be a long and drawn out process. With the world’s most famous leveraged  Bitcoin holder having a cost basis of $30,700 and a liquidation level of $21K, I think we may see this dip go just a bit further. Michael Saylor has been a little bit irresponsible with his leveraged buying and I have a feeling that the Bitcoin market may just teach him a lesson before this drop is finished. That would seemingly be the most fair ending to this cycle. With mtgox coins on the way, I wouldn’t discount Bitcoin showing the billionaires it has it’s limits to what manipulation it will allow.
5953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 09, 2022, 06:31:27 PM
^That's great! He definitely deserve that award. One of the game changers of the league and the point of view in center positions. They can also learn to be a good passer. Congratulations to The Joker.

I doubt the Grizzlies will recover from what the Warriors are throwing at them. From defense to the offensive end, they are having a lot of troubles to answer back. Frustrations are also swallowing them and it's not a good mentality when it comes to the playoffs. Experienced players will definitely win this one.

I honestly would’ve liked to see Joel Embiid win the MVP this year. I thought he earned it and the playoff circumstances he’s in now prove it. Even injured, his team needs him to win. Congrats to Joker in what is a well earned MVP. He’s redefining the role of center and showing that big men can have skills with the ball too.

I don’t think the Grizzlies will recover either. If Ja Morant isn’t at 100% I don’t think they have a chance to beat the Warriors again in a single game. A shame because Ja Morant is something else. Love watching that kid fly through the air.

Anyone else also watching the Suns vs Mavs game!!?

I never imagined... the Mavericks would be giving so much "work" to the Suns!! Even Booker being on-fire isn't enough for the Suns to be superior to the Mavs!
It's been a competitive and interesting game to watch

That was crazy. Finney-Smith had himself a game. With Luka getting some offensive help and tying up the series, the pressure is on. I’m not exactly sure what went wrong for the Suns today but they had better be careful or they will find themselves with their back to the wall while one of the league’s best is trying to put them away. I didn’t think the Mavericks had a chance without Luka scoring 40, so Finney-Smith proved me wrong today. I’ll be keeping an eye on him during game 5. I hope the Suns defense will be as well.
5955  Economy / Gambling / Re: I miss the old OnChain gambling on: May 08, 2022, 08:01:47 PM
I used to use directbet.eu and it was the single best gambling experience of my life. It was a shame that it was taken down due to attacks against that style of taking bets as a result of high transaction fees allowing users to place bets that would never confirm both ways, and then double spending the losing bet while confirming the winning bet with higher fee transactions. It’s a shame that this method of gambling was attacked and abandoned before it could be developed further. This is exactly the sort of thing that I point to as an example of why Bitcoin has actually lost use cases over the years instead of gaining them. We’re ironically centralizing ourselves as a community as frequently as we can. I don’t blame casinos though, nobody wants to risk having you business bankrupted by the downfalls of the Bitcoin network.
5956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 08, 2022, 07:57:21 PM
Yeah, almost a triple double performance for Giannis again, he knows that he will be double or even triple team that's why he look for the open man. Although there were instance that his pass was intercepted, but at least he prove clutch again. For sure Tatum will bounce back next game, he had a good series against the Nets and I said that he is a legit star now. So he has to adjust to the defense being put on him to score.
The other Celtics problem is the speed of the game. The Bucks are trying to always slow it down to avoid creating the momentum for the Celtics where they are used at. It's a nice strategy from their coaching staff. Take it slow, every second must be dried out while looking for an open man.

Philly against Heat later. A crucial game for the Heat to steal a game in the 76ers home. They are overflowing with confidence now with Embiid's return and they may want to stop that if they want to finish this in Miami. If not, it may go as far as Game 7.

Embiid is nowhere near 100%. Even if he does come back and play a lot of minutes, I’m not sure how much better an injured Embiid is then whoever they’d replace him with. I did want to see Wmbiid carry the Sixers to the Finals, but it would be a bit of a miracle story if he was able to do it now. I think the more likely outcome is that the Heat win this series and then lose to the Bucks. The Suns beat Dallas and then it’s up to the Warriors to keep the Finals from being a rematch of next year. With the way they’re playing, I think it’s pretty likely we see a Warriors/Bucks matchup, which if the Warriors were healthy we would have seen last year.
5957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Warriors vs Grizzlies 2nd round discussion on: May 08, 2022, 06:45:13 PM
There's a clip going around of Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole running an off the ball screen for each other, but they lock arms and swing around in opposite directions to confuse the defense trying to switch the screen.  I've never really seen anything like this before, and now it makes me wonder why not.  If this is a play that the Warriors are going to start using to get Steph open for 3s, the league might have a new problem on their hands.

Here's a link to a clip on Twitter of the play I'm talking about.  It's being referred to apparently as the sling shot and defenses should be terrified.

5958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA _ Phoenix Suns vs Dallas Mavericks - 2nd round on: May 08, 2022, 06:40:57 PM
We have an early game tomorrow for the game 3 of Suns vs Mavericks.

Dallas is still the underdog with +2 in this game.

question..
can they duplicate the same performance they did in game 3 and continue to limit the offense of the Suns?
I'm thinking of taking the visiting team and believe that they'll finish the series when going back home.

How about you guys, what's your prediction?
I think they cannot do the same thing or try to duplicate what they did to the Suns on the Game 3 because we already know that the Suns will always learn on their mistakes and make some few adjustments with the help of Chris Paul's IQ. Might be a close game tomorrow but I'm seeing that the Suns will take the win and try to finish the series on their homecourt just like what you've said mate.

I think the Mavericks are just too dependent on Luka Doncic to be able to beat the Suns in an entire series.  The Suns just have too many weapons.  By now Booker has got to be nearly 100% again, and I think so long as Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton stay healthy, the Mavericks are really just seeing how many games they can take the series to.

I'm expecting the Suns to come out trying to destroy the Mavs and get them one game away from the next round.  The only thing I reasonably think could stop them is if Luka has an extremely efficient night and scores 40+.  Without some help, I think he'll struggle to do that against the Suns defense.
5959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really believe Satoshi is real?? on: May 07, 2022, 09:38:19 PM
Bitcoin is in many main languages but not Japanese. Why would the guy who created it not make it in his own language? Don't you find it suspicious MtGox is in Japan?
Also the project really isn't a success. A lot of progress still has to be made. Security is still an issue along with sites still growing. Anyone ever even talk to him? I'm not saying he isn't real I'm just putting this out there.

I don't understand the connection between satoshi and Japan.  Are you just saying the name sounds Japanese so Bitcoin was invented in Japan?  Seems like judging a book by it's cover...

Do I find it suspicious that a site called Magic the Gathering Online Exchange is in Japan?  No.  It was also owned by a Frenchman.  Not weird.

You don't think Bitcoin is a success?  It's worth nearly a trillion dollars and kicked off a new asset class.  It's hard to imagine it being any more successful at this stage.  Sure, it's got it's downfalls, but hijacking control to push poor agendas aside, it's growing about as fast as anything could.

Someone had to have written the Whitepaper...
