5961  Economy / Computer hardware / Here come the GPUs!!! on: May 06, 2022, 07:29:35 PM
I'm seeing GPUs suddenly being offered below MSRP everywhere!  I guess all the get rich quick guys decided that spending double on a GPU to mine a shitcoin might not be the best investment.  Personally, I'll be waiting until after summer when heat is again of value before expanding my GPU miners, and hopefully by then we see a 4xxx series card from Nvidia and steep discounts from the GPUs trying to be sold today.

What do you guys think?  Are GPUs suddenly a buy now that they are 1/2 the price they were 90 days ago on the secondary market?  Are low hashrate model buyers regretting ever getting involved in crypto?  What's the best way forward from here for those sitting on a bunch of GPUs?
5962  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: May 06, 2022, 07:22:04 PM
Isn't it pathetic to share private messages (emphasis on private) trying to bring up a case that's long forgotten, of a user who's left the community a year now?

I don't think so.  There are still people on these boards who support this lunatic being in the Default Trust network.  Imagine supporting someone who is a proven extortionist and still clinging to the idea that I'm the bad guy...  You'd have to be a special kind of stupid for that.

I rarely share PERSONAL MESSAGES (not private, use encryption if you want privacy) but in this case the user was extorting me privately for years and denying it.  Once he was forced to leave this place he didn't admit to any wrongdoing or remove his trust abuse, neither did his supporters.  They just pretended it never happened so I'm happy to pop up every now and then just to remind the community of how their faithful do no wrong scam busters are actually supporters of extortion and lies who only harass wannabe scammers to try and educate them how to scam without a trace using their Chipmixer signature advertisements.  Most people here probably don't realize this is why they do what they do and think they actually have good intentions.  Thinking is hard though, so I get it.
I... I saw the drama of Vod with other forums members and to be honest, its quite tiresome. A lot of us didn't really get to the truth because it took a considerable amount of time and effort to keep up with the accusations, and conversations between the two sides. Who is right or who is wrong? No, I refuse to be a half-ass, light-heart that gives out a sentence or a judgment to someone without knowing the full situation. Yes, that's why I said it was tiresome and I think there are some users on the forums like me, that just stay away from that drama and take no side either. If he did a bad thing to you, wronged you and you want to speak out then it was your right. I think I can understand and respect that. But I hope you can understand that there are people who just want to move on.

I respect that people want to move on.  I do too.  Unfortunately, I received a lot of negative attacks via the trust network that remain today without any repercussions to those who levied them so irresponsibly, so I feel it is important that people be aware of what happened, and who supported the behavior.  I've received no apologies even after posting so much evidence that people are sick of reading about it.  In fact, people like suchmoon have even gone out and said they don't believe the quote I posted is true, using that as a reason to continue supporting a proven extortionist via trust inclusions and supportive ratings.  I would suggest to the community if they want to move on from this, they should not continue allowing the victim to be demonized, as is still the case.  If this forum is to get better, we need to demand better.  Not better from our victims, better from the community that is supposed to be standing against this sort of behavior, yet you can see more posts criticizing me for standing up for myself and posting the truth than for the proven extortionist/liar.  We need to do better since our leaders are not going to do anything but pretend this is about freedom of speech (spoiler alert: allowing someone to be victimized beyond the extent of the law is not freedom of speech, it's cowardly, and advising people to report it to the police makes you a fake Libertarian).
5963  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What process should I go through, for gathering funds to develop my app idea ? on: May 06, 2022, 07:01:26 PM
Build a functional product, then demonstrate it works, then look for funding to expand outside of this forum.  Ideas are a dime a dozen.  Trust me.  Knowing what will be the next great business is not enough to fundraise for it.  For example, I know the metaverse is going to be the next big thing.  It's a trillion dollar opportunity and will make many people billionaires who are working on what ends up being the popular metaverse.  That doesn't mean I am in a position to raise millions and start hiring people to work on my Nastyverse.

As others have stated, you are about 5 years late to this sort of party.  All the ICO scamming that went down in 2017 took down the market here for investing in anything.  Lack of moderation, reputable escrow agents helping scam users out of their investments, alt accounts making false statements...  All the cause for why you won't raise a single penny here for an idea.  Just trying to save you some time.  Good luck building your project!
5964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: has there been a post about sending bitcoin via infrared and bluetooth? Can it? on: May 06, 2022, 05:51:04 PM
Can you send bitcoins via bluetooth or via infrared?

Sure.  If it's capable of sending data, you can send a Bitcoin transaction.  If you knew someone with a node that could enter raw transaction data for you, you could send a Bitcoin transaction via carrier pigeon.  Even better, you could send encrypted private keys via carrier pigeon and you'd be sending funds without even needing to use the network at all.

Bluetooth has terrible latency and bandwidth and is generally not suitable for a deployment for a mesh network of sorts (ie. Bitcoin Nodes).

You must be thinking of Blockstream which has the participants operating with a satellite dish connected to the satellite. This can be achieved with something like Starlink, which has fairly reasonable latency and bandwidth. HAM radio is possible as well but you would run into some problems with potential obstructions and interference.

Latency and bandwidth aren't big issues for uploading raw transaction data.  Sure, you might not want to run a node that way, but the question of if Bitcoin can be sent this way is certainly a yes.

HAM radio is actually the thing I think it the coolest.  Personally, I think that is way more exciting than satellites.  I hope someday a giant HAM radio network is setup for Bitcoin.  Any mesh networks I find to be pretty cool.  Especially ones using old school tech.
5965  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1oz .999 Silver NastyFans Minted Seats on: May 06, 2022, 05:28:54 PM
I bought 2oz one 2nd-3rd hand. To get in the lottery do people have to do something or it follow the coin/address?

I’m not 100% sure what lottery you’re talking about, but nothing is ever required of Minted Seat owners other than not losing their coins.

They think it's a lottery because only some the coins actually get these "distributions."  One would wonder why all seats don't get paid out?  Many of us are interested in this answer... but I'm sure you'll delete this post so you don't have to explain the scam publicly.

All seats receive BTC weekly from NastyFans distributions. You can see the amount held for each minted seat here: https://nastyfans.org/mint.json

Once seats reach a certain threshold amount, BTC is distributed to the coin’s address with the weekly NastyFans distribution (closing in on 10 years of weekly distributions with over 700 BTC distributed. You can view the distribution history here: https://nastyfans.org/distribution.summary.csv). This is to avoid “dust” amounts building up on the coin that would get eaten with a large transaction fee when the BTC is moved. You can check amounts held on individual coins by using a block explorer and entering the address engraved on the coin.

There are 30,000 seats in total and distributions are supplied by mining rewards from my humble mining operation as well as donations from other members, so expectations should be appropriate. Those only concerned with BTC returns would obviously be better served purchasing online digital seats from https://nastyfans.org than a precious metal coin, but as far as an innovative physical Bitcoin wallet, I think Minted Seats take the cake.

Also, I believe the lotto he inquired about (my response still being valid) is my coming $10,000 coin giveaway mentioned here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=86854.msg56118909#msg56118909

Were you happy with this answer?  Everything is publicly documented on the blockchain so it is verifiable and all information is provided with regularly updating statistics you can view through .json and .csv files.  Seems like an apology would be in order for saying something that is blockchain verifiable as not being a scam and documented clearly so it is easily provable and understood by anyone who takes the time to look.  I'm a bit surprised that anyone would continue to take the stance that this project is a scam after more than a decade of regularly paying out distributions exactly as stated and providing such easy to access and well documented history.  In any event, I did appreciate the opportunity to once again prove the merit of this organization.  That's why we provide all this data, so that people don't have to blindly listen to those yelling fire in a crowded theater.  They can look for themselves.
5966  Other / Meta / Re: Neutral feedback of negative spirit on: May 06, 2022, 05:21:54 PM
Enough con artists got together to get control of DT and now they cast out anyone that doesn’t turn a blind eye to their abuse.

Hey OG, come on! The trust system is more decentralized than ever. There are 92 members in DT1 and 606 in DT2, it is laughable that you say that.

I'll assume you aren't being sarcastic (if you are I apologize for being dense).

If I cared more, I'd get 20 alts in the DT network just to show how easily this shit is being manipulated.  Honestly though, I have better things to do with my time and as mentioned, I don't care enough anymore as that's the attitude that has trickled down from the top.  Maybe someone with more free time and an axe to grind will go get 20 usernames into DT and expose the plot to show just how ridiculous the system has become.  I imagine it might cost a few hundred dollars and take a couple months, but I've been watching it happen for years by people who I'm amazed can figure out how to turn on a computer or feed themselves so it isn't like it's some hard thing to accomplish.

When I was involved with another site and had access to private data, I was amazed at how many usernames used here are controlled by the same few individuals.  That's why when a well known troll here disappears, you can find half a dozen or so members who all had the same opinions suddenly stop posting as well.  Don't underestimate the crazy here.  Trust me.  If you think this place is decentralized or that anyone even gives a shit about the end result of the trust network being accurate, don't look behind the curtain.
5967  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-vaxxers now drinking their own urine on: May 06, 2022, 05:12:29 PM
Seems like you're angry that you fell for the vax and now have a weakened immune response as a result so you're taking your anger out on the people who were smart enough to think for themselves.
When exactly am I going to die again? Originally it was within months of the first vaccine. Then it was definitely the second one that was going to turn me in to a 5G zombie. Then it was the booster that was definitely going to edit my genes and control my mind. I just can't keep up!

How would I know when you're going to die?  I only know you won't die from covid, with or without the vaccine (assuming you aren't fighting off serious medical illness already and I'm not talking about mental illness of thinking kindergarten students need access to tampons or that biology doesn't determine sex), but with the vaccine you'll probably have a harder time fighting off covid in the future once all this hysteria settles down and people stop lining up to get injected with a substance that actually achieves the opposite of it's claim for people with healthy immune systems.  On the plus side though, we're seeing unprecedented inflation and healthcare companies making record profits, so I guess it's mission accomplished?  Now people can suffer for real for a few years as this coming recession absolutely destroys the middle class and causes another housing market collapse that will reduce the level of home ownership in this country.  Not to mention all the microplastics obliterating people's lungs as a result of all this forced mask wearing giving the medical industry a gift that will last decades.  Trump was 100% right that if Democrats got in control the solution would be worse than the cause.  Welcome to the worse solution.  It will be more clear to those without foresight in another two years and it won't be due to a war or whatever the next BS false flag we see in the media is when this Ukraine business is finished.

5969  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitcoin and Stock Price History 2012-2022 on: May 06, 2022, 04:58:58 PM
If somebody had asked you a decade ago if you wanted to invest in stocks of the world's largest corporations or in Bitcoin, what would you choose?

I asked myself this question nearly 11 years ago and the answer was clear.  When I discovered Bitcoin it was such an "ah-ha" moment.  The question, "but what can I do?" finally had an answer.  It really was clear as day that Bitcoin was a real emerging technology that was vastly undervalued as a p2p trading network solution and superior as a low cost way to do business internationally while giving the ability to maintain privacy.  It was like if Western Union owned the Black Market (this was my thinking at the time) and had a valuation around 10 million dollars.  It genuinely was a once in a lifetime opportunity and the first night I learned about Bitcoin I was up all night setting up software to mine on my old computer and looking at what I needed to grow the process.  There are few things in life that ever came close to exciting me as much as Bitcoin in 2011.  The blocksize wars and all the drama surrounding villainizing members of the community set in place an attitude and environment that has made me think twice about Bitcoin's dominance and start looking into more inclusive communities.  I hope someday there's some sanity and truth in the community again.  Once upon a time this place was a Libertarian heaven and it was clear Bitcoin had a bright future.
5970  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Menstral Equity? Oregon requiring tampons in kindergarten boys bathrooms? on: May 06, 2022, 04:33:58 PM
Since you don't seem like the type of person who's ever been in a healthy relationship (of any kind) with a member of the opposite sex, I'll let you in on a secret: Men are sometimes asked by women to fetch menstrual products for them. Not everything is some evil plot by trans people to, um... hold on, what exactly is the alleged evil that arises from kindergarten boys having access to menstrual products? Are you afraid they'll choke on them or something?

I would say so yes, that is a risk. But the major consequence of this is likely to be toilet clogs - they do not have any other use in a kindergaten than playing "who clogs faster".

No doubt. As for someone saying that boys have to so often provide women with tampons that they need to have free access in their school bathrooms… If your significant other relies on you and your children for tampons from their school bathroom so often you feel it should be the government’s responsibility to provide them, you aren’t in a relationship with a woman, you’re a spoiled little girl’s bitch.

Hi everyone,

I wasn't receiving email notifications about new posts on here for some reason and just checked this posting today...

I completely understand and agree with you all about the design, I had zero clue about this situation or where the original design came from till now.. I would of or will gladly pay him for use of the design, I just thought it was a copyright free use and downloaded the SVG file from Etsy a long time ago. It was never my intention to do anything nefarious and glad it has been brought to my attention. I will attempt to reach out to him.

Also at the present moment, due to demand and shipping costs etc etc, selling just one coaster isn't plausible for me at the moment. I hope you all understand and I'll let you know if I'm able to make that happen in the future.

Sincerely,
PBA

I have his address information as I recently sent him some free silver and there are 3 of us willing to buy. If you provided a 25% discount on a 4 pack and the other two nice folks were willing to help with shipping to Mick, I’d happily handle getting them distributed. Would do it just for Mick to get something cool in the mail… Let me know if there’s anything we can work out. Would love it if someday Mick’s house was overflowing with all the free goods people send him for using his designs. He deserves it for being a pioneer in this space.

Joel Embiid just cleared concussion protocol and is now eligible to play in game 3. It’s still likely he’ll be out because of his orbital bone fracture, but it is POSSIBLE he could return for game 3 tonight. Personally, I’m not sure I’d rush him back and risk a longer recovery time or a worse injury, but this is the moment he’s been waiting for so maybe he’ll throw caution to the wind and suit up. Whatever happens, I hope he’s able to play near his usual at some point in this series. I’d like to see the 76ers snatch a win without him to give him more time, but I’m not sure that’s possible.
5973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 06, 2022, 08:29:01 AM
With the Suns seemingly dominating the Mavericks and the 76ers without Joel Embiid, I think both series look like they could end in clean sweep victories for the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. I’d feel pretty good betting on both games individually for the Suns and Heat to cover the spread as well as a multi-bet for them both to win. I feel like Dallas has a chance of Luka managed to take over a game but so far Devon Booker has been shutting him down. Both games will be televised on ESPN.
5974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 06, 2022, 01:26:37 AM
Sixers fans will have someone new to blame if they go out this time and that would be Harden hehe. He becomes an easy target since he's been under 25 PPG in the playoffs so far which is below what's expected of him. Expect another low scoring game for him as Celtics defense will be tight again.

I don’t think you can blame Harden for this. Without Joel Embiid and all the pieces they lost to get Harden, their offense is pretty centered about Harden and therefore easy to stop. A shame because Embiid seems to catch one bad break after another year after year when it’s his time to shine. He’s one guy that I truly hope gets a chance to play in the Finals before his prime is done. I think he would be capable of greatness, but the bizarre mental health issues with the Sixers draft picks over the years has held that team back.
5975  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Menstral Equity? Oregon requiring tampons in kindergarten boys bathrooms? on: May 06, 2022, 01:22:46 AM
Quote
In the state’s guidance, school officials are told to use gender-neutral phrases like “menstruating students” instead of “girls.” When it comes to explaining the reproductive process, teachers are instructed to tell kids that “someone with a uterus and ovaries may begin to menstruate,” instead of girls. There’s no such thing as “female hygiene products,” the toolkit argues, only “menstrual products.”

Gender neutral terms now conflating leftist politics and basic biology. Bizarre.

Your article cites this important story: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10449589/Clay-County-school-suit-update.html:

12 year old attempts suicide by hanging twice after 'months of secret meetings about her gender identity'.

This is really only the beginning. The indoctrination campaign of the left is rooted in shoving their politics down other peoples' throat, including children. It won't be years until the pendulum swings back. Woke gender theory will be viewed the same as lobotomies some number of decades from now. The only issue is how many lives will irreversibly be damaged before such nonsense stops.

I’d hate to be an elementary school science teacher nowadays. Imagine trying to teach about basic biology and chromosomes when you can’t use gender terms without some crazy parent trying to cancel you and have your livelihood taken from you. These people really are sick. Forcing this sort of thing on children, it’s hard to even imagine any reasonable person being able to come up with ridiculous scenarios why this could ever be something that’s needed. You’d have to be so brainwashed, you’re an absolute lost cause for the hope of ever having any individual thought to call your own.

I get that Liberals have lost their minds. They identify as things they can’t define, think men and women are interchangeable, and now apparently they think 6 year old boys should have the right to access free tampons provided by our public school system. I feel like I’m living in some crazy episode of a TV show where everyone has gone insane. Even the most vaccinated wrong restroom using trying to get pregnant liberal man identifying as a woman should be able to see this is nonsense. How far are we going to go to cater to this mental illness? Why are my tax dollars being wasted like this? How long before urinals are required in women’s restrooms?

Some idiot who has been trolling me for years recently left me some bullshit neutral feedback. It’s how the trust system is designed. Enough con artists got together to get control of DT and now they cast out anyone that doesn’t turn a blind eye to their abuse. It’s sad because this forum was once upheld with Libertarian beliefs, but laziness has given way to an attitude of telling people to call the cops on other forum users in order to avoid handling responsibilities of running a community. It’s sad, because some of us have been here in time now measured in decades doing work on behalf of Bitcoin but are stuck being extorted and harassed anytime someone covets something we’ve built, whether that be reputation, businesses, or just a positive working environment. Nothing will be done until the money laundering signature campaigns are removed and the scammers no longer have a financial incentive to be here and continue exploiting the system.
5978  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 05, 2022, 04:32:24 PM
Volatility has kicked it up a notch. Typically that means losses are ahead. With the Fed shrinking their balance sheet next month investors are eyeing spots to get their funds out of the market. I suspect May will be littered with bull traps for all markets as trillions of dollars in assets begin being dumped on the market. This year might be the biggest, “sell in May and stay away” example I can remember. Time will tell, but common sense is saying to sell the peaks and wait for the recession. Inflation will keep the numbers looking better than they did in 2008, but that only means it will be more difficult to escape the carnage while maintaining the value of your investments.

How about we stop labeling people and making crazy claims about them when they don't want to participate in your mental illness?
Right, because the side claiming that drinking your own urine cures everything from AIDS to cancer are the sane ones. Roll Eyes

The only person I've seen say that is you.  Seems like you're angry that you fell for the vax and now have a weakened immune response as a result so you're taking your anger out on the people who were smart enough to think for themselves.  If we're going to cast out claims, you could at least have them based in reality...  Like, you think the people who identify as women but can't define them are the sane ones?  At least that point is valid.  Yours is some made up nonsense that only an idiot liberal who believes everything the news tells them would think has any basis in reality.
5980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: May 05, 2022, 04:25:53 AM

Even though the odds are clear that Phoenix Suns have the advantage in their series against Dallas Mavericks, my strong will for Dallas Mavericks to win the series doesn't change. Luka Doncic is playing on the highest level and what he needs is a boost from his teammates. I'm looking forward that those Mavericks guys who stepped up against the Utah Jazz in the first round of the Playoffs, turning the team's status from underdog to favorites, will play at their best in this series.

A cool and a nice win from the Phoenix Suns' home is a good advantage before returning to their home crowd on Game 3. I hope they will get a win.

Looks like they’re going to get the win. This has been an extremely physical game. Not really what you want to see with injuries being such a huge factor in playoff basketball. The Mavericks seem frustrated with how the second half went. This is the sort of thing that can weigh on a team going forward. We’ll see how they bounce back next game.

No surprise that the Sixers lost again without Embiid. Such a shame…
