5981  Other / Beginners & Help / [GUIDE] Lock Thread(s) After Receiving Enough Replies. on: January 29, 2018, 07:10:52 AM
Topic Starters, please read: Close Your Started Thread if You already got the Answer(s) to your querries.

When you see a Mega-Spam Thread, who is the first person to blame? The Topic Starter himself!

Some newbies doesn't really know what they are doing, some members are just stupid enough to bump a 30-page thread with their "constructive" opinions bringing back the topic on top of the list, so on and so forth, leading to a spam fest.
Closing a thread isn't that hard to do, it will only take less than 10 seconds to click the button.
But I think most of them didn't know how, it's either that the button is too small or first time forum users didn't know that threads can be locked.

TL;DR, Here's very a simple tutorial for Topic Starters:
  • After opening the thread you wanted to close, find the "lock topic" button on the Lower-Left part of the page
  • If the button is unnoticeable, look at this:
After the thread was locked, the owner can always unlock it whenever he feel that the topic needs a bump or additional posts.

To avoid duplicates or new threads/topics with previously answered questions, edit and add "[SOLVED]" to the title before hitting the lock button as LoyceV suggested:
For technical questions, it's very helpful to add [SOLVED] to the topic title before locking it.

And here's the best thing: if you have a problem, and you're looking for a solution, add "solved" to your search question in Google. It will help you find what you're looking for.

I hope in the near future, there will be no more MegaSpamFest threads. But memes in the Speculation thread are still welcome.
If you want to add this message to your replies, you can use this:

Win Flash Tool when downloaded is showing a virus. Is this the correct link? http://winflashtool.sysprogs.com/download/
VirusTotal's results for the link you provided: https://www.virustotal.com/#/url/a273863471f6b2d0313edf572cbdd5b309809d18f839274b1348dd6c438d2ee4/detection

It's showing 1/66 means that one of their scanners detected a malware within the site.
False-positive or not, I'm not going to use that if I were you.
5983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Request Expert Help With a Transaction on: January 29, 2018, 04:03:38 AM
Sorry but, I think that this is not the right board to ask that question.
HomeblockCoins should be discussed in the project's own forum or in the Altcoin Discussion.

---  Edit ----

Thread was Moved to Altcoin Discussion. Just keeping this post as a Reference.

You may want to look at these Junior Member's profiles: SanderM2 and Anti-Cen

They both deserved some merits but doesn't even bother to ask one.
5985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen IF the Lightning Network succeeds? on: January 28, 2018, 08:18:19 AM
In competition, those centralized payment networks may stay the way they are without being a threat to Bitcoin.
They could utilize Lightning Network instead of finding a way to scale or create their own blockchain.
Just one rule, "use" Bitcoin, keep the blockchain and Lightning Hubs decentralized, keep their centralized payments within their network. Easier said than done.
Although, a new blockchain is a better idea for a Country who needs clean Fiat2.0.
When they think lightning network is fit to be a good source of taxes, what to worry about?[2][3]

Don't worry about those Altcoins that are "copying" bitcoin's features, the game will stay the same. [1]

Some traditionalist doesn't even know who Satoshi is and with the current updates and scaling solutions, I can barely see his vision.
Why do we even fear if the majority of them will hate LN? [4]

Lightning network is the potential scaling solution to make bitcoin go mainstream.

It's been 5days since you posted the OP.
Any new updates regarding this "experiment"?

I've been looking at this thread since it was posted. I got curious.
Don't worry, I'm rooting for your success.
5987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the waves platform a magnet for likely-to-be scams? on: January 28, 2018, 04:07:03 AM
@OP Thanks for the warning, but isn't it obvious?
If you will start a poll to all users here that thinks the same, you will get the majority vote for "yes".

All investments aside from cryptocurrencies are always an unknown venture.
Whether you researched a lot about the project or not, there will always be a possibility of a scam or bankruptcy.

Now, ICO are not different but the platform is unregulated, it isn't hard for a working brain to think that most of them are likely scam.
With enough research, advertising and "backing", you can point out which one is legit, a possible fail or scam project.
5988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with my 6 card evga gtx 1070 rig on: January 27, 2018, 08:08:30 AM
A year isn't enough to break it down even with constant read and writes brought by huge pagefile that we usually set.
But it's pretty the same with flashdrives' breaking points, the estimated max R&W does not always justify the quality of the drive.
Most unknown brands are totally produced from low quality parts while some products of a Reputable brand may contain hidden defects.

Try it in another PCI-e slot or another system.
It may be a short or a power surge but I highly doubt it.
5989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with my 6 card evga gtx 1070 rig on: January 27, 2018, 06:45:20 AM
I see that you're using HDD.
Probably yes, but you can try replacing the Sata Cable for it may be a problem to the connection, but your case strongly indicates a non-spinning or broken disk.
Seeing a Corrupted Partition (0mb/0mb) is a sign of a working PCB of the HDD, but the mechanical parts are broken (which is basically 90% of the unit).
5990  Other / Meta / Re: Re-initiate Merit System and Consider this Week as Beta Test on: January 26, 2018, 02:42:01 PM
What if another member like you is not convinced with the way it is used after re-initiating ? Another re-initiation .
That's why I set the poll to last for a 6 days, roughly a week after it started.
There's enough time for some tests.
5991  Other / Meta / Poll Ended on: January 26, 2018, 02:36:13 PM
-snip-

The Poll will End after [6] day(s), enough to catch hidden sMerit Trades and experience the positive benefits of Merit system to the forum.
The poll had ended.

5993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🔴SEGWIT2X website language bugs!!!🔴 on: January 26, 2018, 07:30:46 AM
In general, I can only say that projects like Segwit2x, they are created only to split us, do you understand what I mean? After all, these are quite serious actions towards people and the community as a whole, because they are trying to divide us in this way
What are you saying? No!
These projects are total scams, all they want is the snapshot of the original blockchain leading to "free" coins available to the current users.
This will easily make the coin famous supplemented by the glorious name it chose (SegWit2X from SegWit).
What happened last BCH fork that they want, will never happen again.

@OP "Participate" is correct.
5994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Riserless Mining Motherboards the death of PCIE risers? Mining Rig Tear Down! on: January 26, 2018, 06:12:32 AM
I've seen this coming since that GPU mining craze.
These might go along with the case made by the manufacturers themselves. sssSmells profit.
Looks like they taken the opportunity to make one, but others will, overtime.

For stability, these might be the solution.
The whole unit was designed to work together unlike regular Mobo with couple of Risers.

The design though, this doesn't look innovative at all.
It looks like a stretched gaming rig.
5995  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: URL shortener with paywall on: January 26, 2018, 05:51:16 AM
No one wants to do the hassle just to open a page or article, that's why the options to monetize like Page Ads or Video Ads exist.
Lightning Network is fast but the hub model is not convenient for those type of services.
We got a lot of traditional fast payment options and yet no one ever successfully deviced a similar scheme.

Google's URL shorteners works not for monetization but really for "shortening" long URLs, along with their shady tracking business.
5996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: need help! on: January 26, 2018, 04:00:10 AM
Understand that some newbies are real totally new persons in this forum.

@OP
Since you're using a single GPU to "try" mining, I bet that the system you're using was Windows, right?
If that's the case, you can use the miners available here in the forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647251.0 or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632724 or use search - "miner")
You only need to point them to the right pool that mines the coin you want to mine. like halker2010 said.

Except, his example was for Bitcoin, and i don't recommend mining Bitcoin with a single GTX980ti.
Choose an altcoin with a nice value and a low total hasrate, excluding cryptonote coins.

If you need more information, the best action is still using the "search"  function.
5997  Other / Meta / Re: Vital Facts and Figures about Merit Point.(Answers to your Queries.) on: January 25, 2018, 11:38:22 AM
Q: Why can't I find the "+Merit" button to rate a post?
A: You can only see the button when you have sMerit to give away. It is on the right besides the quote button, but hidden when you have 0 sMerit.
I now have 0 sMerit point after using it, but I can still see the "+1 Merit" button.

If a newbie or Jr Member that had received at least 2 Merits = 1 sMerit can confirm that he can now see the button,
the answer should be like this:
A: After receiving your first sMerit, the button will be visible.
5998  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Still possible to bootstrap blockchain via Torrent? on: January 25, 2018, 10:51:28 AM
The download speed might be faster if there are a lot of users "seeding", but keep in mind that using Torrent pose a huge security risk to your system.

Example: One person might intentionally integrated a malware disguised as a file in his seeds.
There are some counter measures you can do with the Torrent Client's settings (ex. BitTorrent) but regular users will find it hard to do so.
5999  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Request - Offline app to sweep Paper wallets? on: January 25, 2018, 07:52:20 AM
technically impossible.
The process of sweeping private keys involves a transaction in the blockchain.

I think what you meant was "importing" private keys.

But all in all, one time exposure of your paper wallet's private key means that you intended to spend its balance,
so there is no need for such security measure unless the wallet you're using is unsecured too.
6000  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned on: January 25, 2018, 07:14:20 AM
Regarding to the amount you had paid, that was for that newly registered account, not for ban removal of your banned account.

Q: Why is my IP banned? What are those units of evil?
A: Your IP might be banned because it was used by a user that got perma banned. Don't worry - IP bans decay over time if there's not too many of them during a small period. If you register using a banned IP, are using TOR, VPNs or well known proxies, you will have to pay a small fee. This is to prevent spammers while allowing legitimate members to post without many restrictions.

Have you been browsing the forum using VPN? Yes?
Because some of them were previously/actively being used by scammers or hackers.
