But what bothers me is they have registered UK business (one owner Eric Rosby), so if it started with intention of creating a ponzi, that would probably mean they either 'hijacked' some unrelated company's details (not very likely), or just provided fake personal details of owner/director (more likely, as I don't think Companies House has strong verification process).

Its the latter. Apparently it costs  £15 to register a company in the UK, and doesnt require any sort of ID. All you need is an address, and all these scams use mail forwarding companies for that. In the case of cryptomine, the address they post belongs to http://www.londonpresence.com/

True. But if I remember correctly CH would also require national insurance number for UK residents (I may be wrong on this one tho), so I imagine they do some basic name/address/NIN cross-match.

Let's give "Eric" some time to prove his identity, if he fails - we should report it:

Hey, I know Bitcoinland has its own rules, but don't you really see any difference between the two scenarios?
It's not "uncommon in crypto" for the whole management team of successful million dollar startups to be portrayed on their own website by pictures of other people??
A few examples please.

It's also worth to point out that they've changed the layout of the photos. Initially, photos were placed all together without any names stated. So if originally designer used random photos, they surely would have noticed when changing the layout and providing the names for each photo.
5983  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloudmining 101 (spamfree thread) on: December 06, 2014, 11:32:32 AM
So apparently cloudminer.io posted fake photos of the "team":

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=832448.msg9750877#msg9750877

Followed by some bullshit explanation as expected.

Left their sig camp due to that.

So the pictures where fake. Big shocker! How about the names, want to admit "your web designer" made those up as well?

No, not just yet. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Anything to please a fan, but unfortunately those are our actual names.  Nevertheless, you can call me anything you like if it helps you get over yourself.

Simple question, are you able to prove your identity or not?

Since we already know your name: Eric Rosby and you already put your photo on the website (or was that one fake too?) - that shouldn't be a problem. Am I wrong?

I'd like to enroll:

Thanks

OK, since I'm 99% sure Cryptomine.io is not a legit business and I don't feel comfortable wearing their sig, I decided to switch to other campaign.

If by any chance Carra decides to finish it sooner, and pay the participants for the posts they made so far, here's my final count + proof of sig:

Post coint (excl this one): 820

lol what are the odds of picking a random picture from the internet which eventually turns out to be a pic of a muslim terrorist?

The article is about terrorism, the guy on a pic might be as well an author of the quoted article. Don't speak Arabic so not sure
5988  Economy / Services / Re: Cryptomine.io - Signature Campaign with a twist - Well worth your time on: December 05, 2014, 11:53:59 PM

I hope this would not be an issue, I will see if it comes to pass.

One precedent here was the Dicebico.in campaign where they allowed them or leave or stay.

I know, I was in it. It's always a tough call for the escrow...
5989  Economy / Services / Re: Cryptomine.io - Signature Campaign with a twist - Well worth your time on: December 05, 2014, 11:46:18 PM

It's pretty clear they've just used a random photo from internet and introduced it as a 'team member'. That's why they removed it from website.

How well do you know this Eric?

What's the plan if it's clear that cryptomine is a scam/ponzi? Will you end the campaign sooner?
5990  Economy / Services / Re: Cryptomine.io - Signature Campaign with a twist - Well worth your time on: December 05, 2014, 10:54:58 PM

Yup, they've already remove that pic from website...

Originally it looked like in this post:

Ok... so who are these guys ? Can we have more about them ?

Edit:

Ow, that makes sense. You probably can't win the jackpot by playing games like dice.

Yup, but then again, there was "total jackpots" shown on the main page before the Fortune Wheel went live, so it must relate to at least one other game as well.
5992  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM | No.1 for Cryptocurrency Gambling | Provably Fair | 1 BTC BONUS on: December 05, 2014, 09:13:15 PM
Where can i find information on how to win the jackpot?

Click the 'help center' you'll find description of every game and info on how to win the Jackpot.

edit: Sorry, I think such info is shown only for 'Fortune wheel', not sure whether you can win jackpot in other games.

Affiliate payments will be sent out on December 5th.

I received my affiliate payment today as promised. Thanks for that.

Everything seems correct, except for Reddcoin. I've earned a very little commission of RDD 0.64683500 and this has not been credited to my balance. Not sure whether RDD payments have been accidentally omitted or is it due to some minimum payment threshold.

Other thing, I've never noticed that before today, but when I switch between coins in the affiliate panel, fields: "Deposit", "Casino profit" etc still display bitcoin logo. It's not a big issue, but it can be misleading for others.
5994  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin were backed by something. on: December 05, 2014, 11:15:27 AM
How can be bitcoin backed by commodity? Will mighty God Satoshi come once again to computer and change bitcoin code and peg it to gold or barley?
...

1 - you don't need Satoshi to change the protocol
2- you don't need to change the protocol to get bitcoin backed with something
5995  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advertising with freebitco.in - is it worth it? on: December 05, 2014, 11:00:35 AM
Don't know why, but number of clicks jumped by 1 to 44 (number of views hasn't changed). The campaign is paused since 1-2 days before I started this thread...

Either there's something wrong with their counter, or someone kept the tab open for a few days (?) and eventually click my ad. Similar thing happened with the other campaign, got click ~2 hours after it stopped.
5996  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advertising with freebitco.in - is it worth it? on: December 05, 2014, 10:50:35 AM
You need more clicks , it may become profitabile.
You have a really low CTR rate,
You have to test different ad placements, different positions , try using ad networks etc.

I think CTR of 0.31% is actually pretty high (considering specifics of the website).

Freebitco.in doesn't allow you to modify size and placement of your banners, you can only experiment with changing colours/appearance.

In terms of numbers alone, that's a fairly cheap CPC. Most CPCs I see with AdSense are in the $0.20 to $1.50 range, so your cost of around $0.08 is pretty good.

But you're right, the traffic is not very valuable. If someone is scrounging on a faucet for a few pennies, they probably don't have much to spend on the site you're advertising.

Yup, comparing to adsense it's supercheap, but with adsense you can pay for clicks not views. With freebitco.in it's not guaranteed that you'd get any clicks at all.

But adsense is out of the question, they won't allow bitcoin gambling ads (or any other gambling ads).

Was this over the course of one day?
I expected it to be higher.

Not even a day, more like few hours.

What did you expect to be higher? CTR or CPC?
5997  Economy / Services / Re: Cryptomine.io - Signature Campaign with a twist - Well worth your time on: December 04, 2014, 10:39:38 PM
This site looks nice.

But I don't know if it's legit or not. Can anyone approve this site that it's legit? Smiley

This is campaign thread, you should be asking in the official thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=832448

Is it legit? I don't know. I know the company is registered in the UK (I've checked with Companies House). I've seen some senior member (in this thread) confirming that he had no issues and everything is fine so far.

But do your own diligence, don't rely on anyone else opinion. And it's always good idea to test the site with smaller amounts.

5998  Economy / Gambling / Re: [SafeDICE.com] Low 0.5% Var House Edge - Fast Cashout & Bet - True Provably Fair on: December 04, 2014, 10:15:29 PM
Is the list of referred players showed anywhere at all? I can't find it.

I remember seeing that asked (and answered) before, but can't find it now.

I think the answer was "the list isn't shown, but the payments go through anyway" or words to that effect.

It would be better if you could see a report listing of all the people you had referred, how much they gambled, how much that earned you, and the percentages.

Hope it's just temporary. The list (names + earnings) is a must imo.

Very interesting....I am surprised they don't advertise that when they are trying to get donations?  Seems it would be good to put that on the page, at the very least it will generate some interest"What is bitcoin?"

Before they decided to accept BTC donations, Jimmy Wales (co-funder) was discussing the issue on reddit. And if I remember correctly, they had some concerns that some people who would normally send say $10 will send much smaller amount in bitcoins. Also, people who donate regularly could make payments less often after switching to BTC etc.

It's not completely unreasonable, I've seen many very small BTC charity donations (ie 0.001 = ~$0.37), if you use paypal/cc you probably won't send anything below $1 or even $5.

That's why wikimedia (and others) opt to 'hide' the BTC donation option.
