61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: July 03, 2017, 08:59:55 PM
So guys, we still haven't decided what is currently the most profitable coin and algorithm for 1080Ti? Currently my setup looks like this:

miner: EWBF 0.3.4b,
mining algorithm: equihash,
average speed (1 card): 700-720 sol/s,
pool: equihash nicehash

My average profitability with EWBF miner with one 1080Ti is: 0,0020 BTC/day (reading taken from nicehash website), which translates to 5$/day. Seems kinda low to me...

I still haven't decided if it's more profitable to mine ZEC directly, deposit it to poloniex, trade it for BTC and then withdraw it back to bitcoin wallet. There is 0,15/0,25% sell fee on poloniex if you want to exchange ZEC for BTC and 0,01 % withdraw fee, if you want to withdraw BTC from your poloniex account to your BTC hardware wallet. So 0,26% fee is the highest fee you're going to pay if you trade your ZEC to BTC and then withdraw it to your BTC wallet on poloniex. Of course that is if you mine on pool without fee (like slush pool) and also excluding 2% dev fee for EWBF miner.

On the other hand nicehash has a total fee of about 4,16% (in my case). On pay day I had 0,0408828 BTC and payment fee was 0,00163531 BTC, so in the end I received 0,03924749 BTC to my bitcoin wallet, which translates to 4,16% payment fee. In case you are wondering 0,00163531 BTC is 4,1$, so I have to mine for nearly one day a week (with one card) just to pay for payment fee on nicehash. But what makes nicehash special is no worries about transferring coins between wallets, trading them and then withdrawing them back to your BTC wallet.

Your thoughts?

What i think right now is, let's think of a coin that's gonna make a boom after the fork. Pick a coin then mine it for a month before the fork, hardware wallet it. Then if you dont want to play the game just use nicehash? Let's forget about the math right now for the upcoming fork. what'd you think?

What about MonaCoin, Vertcoin or LBRY? Currently mining these three coins is more profitable than mining ZEC (according to whattomine) and if one of them blows up, then you have hit a goldmine.

I'm solely focused on LBRY myself on my 4 1080 TI mining rigs, with the expectaction that it'll bull up in the market with the netx 6-12 months.  I could be wrong but that's just my expectation after studying the coin and it's development efforts so far.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My first 8gpu rig 6 pci + 2 pci m.2 need recommendation on PSU on: June 30, 2017, 07:07:59 AM
yo mate wanted to know if can i use m.2 to PCI4 without powered risers ? i currently have 4 gpus on a msi 970 g43 and 1200 power with gpus modded for efficiency wanted to add another.

I haven't tried it myself, but if you want stability, i would power it whenever possible.  just b/c something works right off the bat doesn't mean that it's the best option if you value PEACE OF MIND.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6 GTX 1070 Rig Only sees 5 cards on: June 23, 2017, 02:39:36 AM
reading halfway into your post, i was thinking that it was probably the updates.   you need to disable all updates and prevent changes to your Windows 10 OS as much as possible.  My advice is to start fresh on ur OS and freeze all changes (disable all services that any aspect of the registry/file system).  sounds simple but it's an art into of itself.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining LBRY with 1080 ti on: June 22, 2017, 05:36:41 AM
I'm getting about 10 LBC/day with each 1080 ti at 470.
80%tdp.
Core+120
Mem 0
Temp 60°
200w
How is your setup to get +500?

I bought the beastly, overclocked 1080 TI AMP Extreme's.  These things run quiet, cool, and fast.

85% TDP
core +75 (on top of being OC'ed out of the box)
mem -502
temp 58-68
260w <---sucking more juice

each card is getting 515-535 mh/s

also, if noise isn't too much of an issue, i would just crank up that fan speed to 100%.  Those things are meant to spin fast all the time, it's the process of changing speeds that degrades them over time.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining LBRY with 1080 ti on: June 22, 2017, 04:08:40 AM
the 'realtime' hash rate that you get from the mining pools, bet it surprnova or otherwise, will never be accurate.  My guess is that the latency, confirmed numbers, dropped packets, etc all contribute to a real time stat that ends up being 50-150% off.   You need to take the avg of a 12-24 hour period so that the numbers are more reflective of real numbers.   I have a sneaking suspicion that the inaccurate real time numbers are either by design (for nefarious reasons) or lazy programming.

Myself, I have a local real time hash rate of 3600 (7 1080 TI's) and avging about 100 LBC's/day using suprnova, which seems about right.   Was using zpool before and using their auto exchange to BTC, another layer of complexity that I wasn't sure of.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Difficulty +11% in less than 24 hours. on: June 22, 2017, 12:53:39 AM
I don't understand why people say the Eth price will crash due to higher hashrate and diffuclty.

If ETHs are difficult to get (to mine), won't their price grow up ?

I agree with that. When more people mine it, the price will go higher.

I would love to hear how that works!  By what mechanism, (besides wishful thinking), can people mining a coin cause the price to rise?  I don't know how many different ways I can explain this... It's really not complicated...

Difficulty is solely and entirely determined automatically and periodically to try to maintain a constant and fixed confirmation time.  When more hashrate power is applied to a coin e.g. more miners mining it, confirmation times start to shorten which causes the difficulty to increase automatically to try to maintain the same confirmation time.  It has absolutely no relationship to price.  The price is not involved in the calculation.

So we have established there is no mechanical or mathematical relationship between difficulty and price.  The only other way, might be if investors saw a rising difficulty and took that as a reason to buy more coins.  But it begs the question why the heck would investor care what the difficulty is??  I can't imagine investors look at mining difficulty at all.  It's just not relevant as it bares no relation to present or future price movements.  All an increasing difficulty suggests is more miners are mining it.  All that means is that it is more profitable to mine, usually because it has had a rapid run up in price.  Now investors are interested in price movements but why would they look at an indirect imprecise indicator of price action (mining difficulty) when they can glance at any historical price chart?

Anyway, I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong and demonstrate a distinct correlation between mining difficulty and price.  I can't imagine how that might work but I try to maintain an open mind Smiley

I entirely get what you are trying to saying and really appreciate the semi deep dive into the relationship between price and hashing rate.    Let me try to put explain it another way:

The release of coins (ETH) into the world will be CONSTANT regardless of how many miners there are.   Because of the CONSTANT rate of release of ETH, miners will have no direct bearing on the the PRICE of ETH.

I am still not 100% sure as to the correctness of that statement, but I think that was your point.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia cards crashing: "GPU is lost" on: June 21, 2017, 11:07:23 PM

Gigabyte AORUS 1080 Ti cards.

@philipma1957

Efficiency is not everything. While you lose out on some efficiency on 100% power limit or even higher, you earn more.

Besides, setting cards to 100% doesn't mean they will always use 100% power, most algos don't go anywhere near that, more like 70% but for some power hungry algos it allows the cards to eat more and produce more.

I'm running a few 1080 TI rigs myself, specifically  a 7-card 1080 TI ZOTAC Amp extreme rig (1050w-1050w-1200w PSU's), and a 6 card 1080 TI Gigabyte gaming OC rig (1300w-1050w PSU's).   I have never gotten these rigs to run stable on anything more than an 85% power limit.   It maybe my PSU's, are my home circuit - but that's just my experience.   Also, a typical surge protector will only hand 1875w, so make sure you are using two if your total wattage is surpassing that per rig.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hush giving me almost twice as much profit than Ethereum, but how stable is it? on: June 20, 2017, 01:44:14 AM
I understand that the difficulty number is different depending on the coin that you are mining, but am confused about as to what that number should be if I am forecasting 6 months into the future (or any # of months for that matter).

For example, if I were mining ZEC w/ my (6) 1080 TI rig, and trying to get a realistic # of how much i will be making per/mo after 6 months, what should be my thought process on what that difficulty number should be?   I'm pretty sure that looking at the historical trend is a good place to start, but in terms of filling out that difficulty field at http://www.mycryptobuddy.com/ZCashMiningCalculator, i'm a quite confused.

70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: June 16, 2017, 07:46:23 AM

I am using 1080's not 1080Ti's, as I didn't want to spend too much up front right now. I have 1 more card slot to fill or replace the 970.

I wanna be frank, as far as mining is concerned, there is a world of difference between the 1080 and 1080 TI...the latter being much better suited for mining crypto coins for a profit (at this point in time).   If you bought ur 1080 for gaming, and wanna use it to mine on the side, perfect..otherwise, it's the wrong card in terms of efficiency (at this time) for mining.

as always, please feel free to correct me as i'm almost sure there are other coins that i'm oblivious to.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: June 10, 2017, 01:07:31 AM

don't mien on zpool yiimp is betetr zpool is stealing 20% earning, you should make 0.01 with two 1080ti

appreciate the input...but PLEASE!.... use periods.  slow down when you're typing.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX1080ti's: Better Options? on: June 02, 2017, 09:09:21 PM

Anyway you could point me to the ccmineralexis78, im not really seeing it under the link you have..?

After much digging around, I was able to find this link buried a few layers deep (or just confusing to trail) :

NemosMiner-v1.7.4-ZPOOL: https://mega.nz/#F!5vIGUCzC!nLsQtAwDRiV8MYA_P-q9yg
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX1080ti's: Better Options? on: June 02, 2017, 11:40:32 AM
yeah, the NH miner is useful for the laymen, but not the best IMHO.

Basically, just grab the ccmineralexis78.exe file (as mentioned in my link), copy the batch file and paste it into a new .bat file with ccminer... and just update your BTC payout address and ID tag at the top of the batch.

I must be blind, but I can't find to life of me find the link to the alexxis78 build of ccminer.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080 Ti mining OC and power? on: May 30, 2017, 08:28:29 PM
I tried downloading ccminer 1.0 (alexis) but can't get it to work mining skein on my 1070 amp extreme...keep getting an 'invalid argument' error.

is there a link that I can go to to download and compile it myself?  not much on the internet to be found just yet.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: May 30, 2017, 08:03:37 PM
I'm trying to get the alexis miner to work on my 1070 Zotac Amp Extreme, mining Skein.

Keeping getting GPU#0:invalid argument - even in offline, benchmarking mode.

Anyone have any suggestions?
