Users: Browser-based means that it runs completely in your Browser without any installation required (check Betanet). The first time you open a Nimiq Wallet with your browser, it will create and store a wallet securely in your Browser. Yyou can export/import your keys. The only way of erasing them is by removing the offline data of your Browser. It also make possible features like Cashlinks: Transfer Nimiq within a simple URL that you can send in WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, etc. The users who opens the link will be redirected to his very Browser Wallet and NIM will be added to his Balance.



Developers: The code for the Nimiq Blockchain is public and completely written in Javascript. This way most developers are empowered to build applications using Nimiq. Nimiq will validate the security of community applications but we encourage community memmbers to contribute. Some examples of community applications: Nimiq Faucet, Nimiq Block Explorer, Nimiq Chrome Extension.

Merchants: We plan to create an entire Ecosystem of applications that will make it easy for any Merchant to accept Nimiq. The special benefit of holding NET is to hold the very first NIM available. When Nimiq Blockchain is launched all available NIM will come from NET tokens, then because of mining rewards (which we expect to be very competitive due to how easy it is to mine) at the end of the first year of the Nimiq Blockchain 25% of the available supply will still be from original NET holders.

Before the MainNet launch we will provide an easy-to-use web tool to redeem your NIM tokens using NET tokens. The tool will create for you a new private/public key pair in the Nimiq Blockchain. This address will be hardcoded in the Genesis Block of the Nimiq Blockchain with the according NIM balance.

The current PoW for the Betanet is SHA256. We plan to use a Memory-bound PoW Algorithm in the MainNet which will make Hashrate for Desktops and Mobiles similar because Hashrate in a Memory-bound PoW Algorithm is defined by Memory Latency instead of CPU Clockspeed

Right now we are working on reducing the size of the data you need to download to join the network. That way loading time for the Wallet and Betanet will be much much faster. I think you mean the code for the mining client. We are pro-opensource so any effort in porting the code of our miner to another language is appreciated. We are focused on building the best and most easy to use (and develop with) Blockchain for payments. In fact, the first Nimiq Chrome Extension was built by a community member and is now available in Chome Store. (great work Sören!!!  )

Yes it is a different one. NET stands for Nimiq Exchange Token, an ERC20 Token on top of the Ethereum Network that will be redeemed for NIM in the Nimiq Blockchain once we deliver the Mainnet (December). The one you mention is Netcoin, a Litecoin/Peercoin Hybrid from 2013. We are defining how to make the dissimbaguation and will post it in our Blog

As soon as the Mainnet is live you will be able to mine the real NIM. No pre mining.

Browsers are probably the safest applications out there. We trust them with all kind of sensitive information. Browsers undergo several audits and testing programs to make sure they are secure enough for all kind of usecases. We actually think that the security level of browsers allow us to use Browser miner in a more secure and transparent environment than many Crypto miner clients that are subject to an uncontrollable and unpredictable OS.

Short answer: Lisk is not using browser technology like WebSockets or WebRTC, only JavaScript. It's not possible to build a full Lisk client in a browser
