61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What GPU to get for a budget of around 2500$? on: September 15, 2017, 09:20:31 PM
Is rx580 close to gtx 1060 in performance? Cause when i compare the cheapest gtx1060 to the cheapest rx580,rx580 is 60$ more.Is it worth that price?it's a 8gb rx580

The cheapest gtx 1070 8gb is 550$ and rx570 4gb is 310$.And the difference of rx 570 4gb and 8gb is 60$

If you mine Eth, the rx 580 is close to gtx 1070 in performance. rx 570 4gb is close to gtx 1060, but some special rx 570 can perform like rx 580/gtx 1070.

Wow those prices are really crazy. Is this in USD right? If you lived closeby I'd sell you a gtx 1070 for $400. If you can get an rx 580 8gb for $300 that's decent. What about any people selling used closeby? A fair price for rx 570 4gb used should be around $200-$230. 570 8gb $250-$270. 580 8gb less than $300.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 15, 2017, 09:12:30 PM
This reminds me of the litecoin thread back in May. When prices dropped everyone was creating these estimates, pretty much same verdict that the L3+ would be unprofitable. This was followed by more evidence as the market had a correction. We all know how that turned out. Let's wait until the first two batches ship before discussing more. At the end of the day just risk what you are willing to risk, but do not throw your life savings away.

I don't know how that turned out as I wasn't mining back then but hoping you could tell me? What was the market correction?

Litecoin went from high $30s maybe close to $38 to $24 which was a significant move down during that time. Thus FUD was spread. Its funny because it happened again later to roughly same values. I remember a lot of people saying July batch would not ROI let alone any batch later.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice: Do not buy pre-orders from eBay on: September 15, 2017, 09:05:15 PM
So, what you think shall be the right price off ebay ? Like +50% of current price or higher ?

I would try to buy from Bitmain given that stock is in and out due to people reserving and not paying. If I wanted first two batches, I'd likely pay 7-8 k for batch 1 and 4-5k for batch 2, but I doubt people on ebay will sell it that low.

Cheapest gtx 1060 3gb is around 280$ (277 to be precise)

What is price of gtx 1070 / rx 570 4gb ?

Free electricity you say? used Radeon 7970s, 7990s and/or R9 280Xes... they go for around 100 usd each (the 7990 can be tricky to find, but if lucky, fairly cheap). And downvolt every card as much as you can. My 7990 and r9 280 is downclocked to 950 mhz core, downvolted to 1 volt, from 1,2 which saves ALOT of power and reduces temps by at least 30%. each card makes 280 sols/s so ideal for equihash.. or if you want to go for XMR based cards cryptonote, its around 500 hs/card.

cheap budget rig that will ROI alot faster compared to any super expensive new card.

Just found this
1. Rig:
Asrock H61M BTC, Intel Celeron, 4GB RAM, 3x (corsair cs750m, XFX550), HDD 500GB, 4x Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X, 1Sapphire RX480 4GB Nitro

2. Rig:
Asrock H61M BTC, Intel Celeron, 4GB Ram,
3x(corsair cs750m, Fortron 600W Hyper), SSD 120GB, 5x Sapphire R9 280X Dual X

All for 2100€..worth it?

Do not buy this. If those cards die you're out of luck. Stick to buying gtx 1060 or rx 570 if you can buy cheaply. How much is a gtx 1060 3gb where you live?

I heard there will be a delay for later batches, and they are mostly getting money before other competitors start releasing. Is this true?
Bitcoin does not look good. Perhaps they want to offload their weight before it's too late. D3 out of stock, but L3+ still available and the site is responsive. Guess demand is not there any more.

Bitmain doesn't need to offload any weight. They have made a huge amount on selling the equipment on these and holding coins. I think they are want to reduce risk in holding btc/ltc so they are wanting to sell for USD or lower their risk. But they know they can survive for a long time. Maybe they want to outcompete others but Jihan is no fool. He would not sell equipment to ruin people intentionally. Otherwise this would be bad for his precious bitcoin.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice: Do not buy pre-orders from eBay on: September 15, 2017, 05:34:54 PM
I think the only batches you should buy are the first two. Last few do not pay more than $4000 on ebay. Also I remember the same FUD about when the Antminer L3+ was released. Everyone was saying the same stuff, right after hashnest had released 3000+. It turned out the price of litecoin rose so well that all the miners made 500% ROI atleast.

71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain has released two GPU miner models: G1 and G2 on: September 13, 2017, 12:35:14 AM
I would also say do not buy these. Better to spend money on their ASIC equipment or build your own gpu rig.

I'm such a loser Sad. I purchased some equipment in June that has made back 60% of the cost oh the suffering. People actually paid $700 for gtx 1070 lol?

Here is my wild estimate / speculation on batch size:
Batch 1 early September: 2000
Batch 2 late September: 1000
Batch 2: 3000
Batch 3: 5000
Batch 4: >5000

more likely, september  batch both of them 3k

october batch 3k

early november batch 5k

late november 1st batch 20k

late november 2nd batch 20k

check this tread from start till end and will get same numbers

i just hope that numbers and method for determining number of units for sell is wrong

Everyone is speculating about this huge november batch because of this 30,000 sold number. I remember buying and not paying and it took away from that number, so who really knows how much were released. 20,000 is quite a bit to sell though isn't it?

Those high 20k numbers are probably legit. When they were selling the units we were able to see how many were left by looking at the web site source code. I remember seeing the in the 18,000's. None of us will really know what the amount will be until we see the hashrate go up.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, but it started at 30k, but people could hold a lot of purchases and not pay, hence who really knows how many were bought. I personally was testing it and the number drops despite not paying for any.

Updated, now selling 3 November batch. Was going to keep, but increasing power would require too much money.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WHAT WILL DASH DIFFICULTY BE NOVEMBER 2017 on: September 06, 2017, 10:34:29 PM
I like how everyone expects to get $10000 in 2 months by buying a $2500 miner. It looks like October is a great batch considering Bitmain and everyone else will be testing September and profits will drop. Might as well buy $1000 less right?

this is my first post, i did buy (16-23 November) batch of D3 found about this item way too late Sad  and this is my calculations.

from what i saw in this tread around 30000 d3 where sold including 18000 form last batch if numbers are correct.

current difficulty is around 1mil with 30th network hashrate (roughly)

so 30000 units of d3 means + 450th to network hashrate its like 15x increase of network hashrate, so i assume difficulty will increase accordingly and it will be 15mil (roughly)

with this difficulty it will be around 10-15 USD day on dash mining at the end of November if dash price wont go down.

i used coinwarz calculator https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/dash-mining-calculator/?h=15000.00&p=1200.00&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=15046312.86048716&r=1.80147602&er=0.08062313&btcer=4821.57250000&hc=0.00

i know there is another manufacturers out there who are delivering miners before november and difficulty will be higher, and there are other coins too which will consume some of this hashrate.

my question is, is it realistic calculations or i missing something here? i just want to know what to expect.

If Bitmain is doing like before, this number is way to high. It's probably mixed with people that just buy and take out the count but don't pay with coin. In the previous batches, I would make really late purchases and leave them open expecting the "Sold Out" to come back, but they never did. It may just be extras to prevent people buying 50 and not paying at a time.

Think about it this way. Let's assume the hashrate does spike something very high. Would you rather buy 2 Antminers for $3k and match the Dashmaster that costs $10k. Sure the Dashmaster may be delivered earlier, but at the same time, the hashrate may not be what they post. Plus the Dashmaster has to compete with Antminers being released in october and sept, so it's not like they reach their profitability either. Also, the Dashmaster might be a 22gh/s with the wattage, who knows. I don't think it's reasonable to expect the miner to itself off within 1 month. That's just too much to ask for.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Beginner in mining rig on: August 31, 2017, 03:30:23 AM
1. Mining is not a get-rich quick scheme. Sure, many of us have gotten lucky, but much of that has to do with price variation rather than mining alone. This leads us to 1b:

1b. There is a chance that your mining rig will not generate more profit than you would have ended up earning by taking your mining rig funds and buying certain cryptos.

1c. There is a chance that you will fail to break even.

2. If by "tools", you mean hardware, then I would personally recommend a GPU rig. ASICs tend to lose much of their resale value as soon as a significantly better chip is distributed, although many people still swear by them. GPUs generally hold their value better.

Look around this subforum and you'll find plenty of suggestions related to GPU hardware, or certain ASICs, for that matter.

I think the reason to go gpu mining is that it is less risky than investing directly if you don't watch the coin values constantly. Also, people like the fact that they can buy hardware and eventually have it free to mine anything. The cons of course is slower path to riches and it takes effort to monitor and you would have to know how to fix things when they occur.
