My point exactly. Thought the sarcasm was obvious!  Wink

It was. I was just being doubly obvious on my reply. Some people might be seeing the ebay listing and thinking that this is something new. Don't want people to get their hopes up.

As said many many times on this thread. Its a scam until someone independent and credible gets their hands on one for review.

So I'd venture to say that there's at least a prototype of this miner in existence.

The only "evidence" of working prototype is the youtube video. Only shows the miner for less than 30 sec then just shows the slush dash. Notice at 30 seconds in a finger conveniently hides the computer. Amateur doctored video.

There's actually pictures on ebay, or at least the same pic at different zoom levels... Roll Eyes
Heaven forbid there's a pic here in the thread!  Cheesy
Looks like an S7/S9 with a paint job.  Tongue

Ebay pics are copies of the images from halongmining.com site.

What we know about that pic is that it was Photoshopped on 11/22/17 same day as the announcement, presumably modified to add the dragonmint logo which somebody (I forget who) acknowledged was not real.

We need additional photos and better videos, not copies of old ones.

Btw how do u check antminer chasis temp?

Easy way is download and run Awesome miner or any of the other monitoring software you can find on these forums.

Or learn something for yourself, use python or your favorite scripting language to read the antminer api. Script is here https://github.com/dfoderick/Mining

Check out the other B2x mining pool. https://b2x.multipools.club/ Has higher hash rate than MiningPool Shop

Still no exchange will take a deposit for B2x. Anyone know where to exchange?

want to mine b2x but still no walket wtf cant even mine to yobit nonadress generated

Same at HitBTC, can't deposit to exchange.
So far no way to dump this B2x garbage we're mining.

Is there any exchange that you can deposit and sell?

There are some. Follow this thread for exchanges.

Good to know man. Wat temps do u run them at? Do u check the heatsinks every week or so? Are they expected to loosen up later?

Do not open the machine during the warranty period!

I just shake machines gently when I first get them and listen for rattling, you need to make sure nothing came loose during shipping. The controller thing does rattle on top but that's normal.

Once the machine is running I try not to touch it. Monitor hash and temps. If you run them real hot I guess they could loosen up and drop off but temp would jump and machine would probably stop hashing. Then do the shake check again whenever you need to clean out the dust.

I live in cool dry climate and have 5 of them in garage so far. My ventilation is not ideal so I am looking to improve. But in winter I don't care because they heat my home.

There are 2 temps for the machine
#1 chip temps you can get from the machine web page, one for each hash board
#2 controller or chassis temp you can get from api stats command. I don't know where this temp sensor is so if someone knows then let me know. Its always lower than chip temps and it doesn't show on the web page. Awesome miner or the raw api output will tell you this temp.

My machines are running about 70 deg. Celsius chassis/controller and about 80-90 deg. Celsius chips. Not bad for a setup without proper ventilation. Many people run them hotter.

I'm helping Halong with sales. That's all.

Who are you in communication with at Halong?
What have they been telling you?
What is the timeline for phases leading to production?
You have a blog on the site https://halongmining.com/blog/
Why is the blog empty?
Why is there no physical address for the company?
Why do we not know who the owners are?
Or the engineers? Or Anybody except you?

One of my 14Th/s is hashing at 9Th/s this morning. Never had a problem with my 13.5.

One board stopped hashing a couple hours ago. Red light on board was off. System only showed 2 boards. I shutdown, reconnected the cables on the non-hashing board, rebooted and now all 3 hashing..... for now.
71  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 29, 2017, 06:47:26 PM
I was thinking something like that as well. *puts tinfoil hat* How come that there is no 14TH/S version in last few months? I think last 14TH/s version was like in summer IIRC, since then rest of is only 13.5TH/s. And when they get rid off every S9 for 3k  Grin Grin Grin Grin they will announce new miner Cheesy *removes tinfoil hat*

I read 14Th/s batch have bad quality than 13.5th/s.
More complaint from customer...

It's true ?

Crap! It might be true. One of my 14Th/s is hashing at 9Th/s this morning. Never had a problem with my 13.5.
72  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the average lifespan of an Antminer S9 on: December 29, 2017, 06:39:02 PM
I think we got off topic from OP question.
Check these forums. Some say S9 might only last a few months then need repair, other people say they are still running from first batch in 2016.

I have only owned 5 S9's operating for a few months without any problem. Use good power supply and keep the air flowing. Check the heat sinks to make sure they do not fall off.
73  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the average lifespan of an Antminer S9 on: December 29, 2017, 06:33:49 PM
Aftermarket prices are going to rise about Feb or March 2018 when higher price S9 hit the street? Why wouldn't you mine and then sell them? You will probably get the same $$$.
That's not how the market works. You can't predict the price of the miner two months from now.

One thing people usually don't think about is that if you own an S9 today, you are paying $5k for it. It doesn't matter how much you paid for it, you can trade it today for $5k, so that's your opportunity cost.

I can't predict future price but I can protect myself on the downside by accumulating the payouts slowly by mining.
I get your point about opportunity cost. The way I look at it is that I am leveraged to the price of bitcoin but in the most conservative way while I do carry a large risk by mining instead of just selling the unopened boxes for a one time profit.

What troubles me most is that Adam Back himself said that the product do exist and he saw it.

 Huh

If Adam pulls a scam like this he is done.

All the dude did was report seeing something. He didn't implore people to send all their money. Still, it wouldn't be a good look.

I find it laughable that the supposed bitmain killer requires a no post noob to reassure other noobs they haven't stolen all their money. Yep, that's precisely how you become a world leader in your market. Tim cook and Jeff bezos could learn a thing or two from these guys.

Incorrect. Back did more than just "report seeing something". The fact that he invested $$$ in buying the machines was used as an endorsement to PUMP the SCAM.

Scott, while we are patiently waiting for more details on DragonMint, can you please fill us in on your background or role in all of this? Do you work for them? What is your interest?

I didn't think he would respond. This is 100% certain a SCAM.

I feel sorry for all those who sent their hard earned money to a SCAM operation.

Some break fast some don't

If I had 20 machines coming .

I would not sell  a single one on ebay.

I would sell them in the marketplace here.

I would sell 10 of them .

If I paid  1415 plus shipping I would sell the 10  at  2800 to 3200 each.

I would use a trusted escrow.

I would mine with the other ten.

I am not plugging my self as escrow , but I do escrow.

I can respect this.

79  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 26, 2017, 10:25:39 PM
Just an FYI I got notification that my January order has been shipped today

1 of our 4 January 21-31 orders shipped today. Still no word on our December 21-30 order. I suspect that Bitmain has more than 1 manufacturing facility for the S9 and one of them is outperforming the other. I also noticed that the product page for the December 21-30 batch has been updated with "(HK)" at the end of the heading, which I assume means Hong Kong. The product page for the January 21-31 batch does not have this. Perhaps the "(HK)" denotes which facility the order is being handled by. I've noticed that my previous orders updated to show "(HK)" were shipped later than my shipments for orders the came from product pages that didn't show "(HK)". "(HK)" was definitely not present during the purchasing process, so there still isn't a way to know ahead of time which manufacturing center your order is going to.

I think you are right. My "HK" was shipped from Hong Kong and arrived much quicker than the one not labeled HK. THe S9 not labeled HK spent about a week just to get out of China.
I still had to pay customs either way.

Haven't they already took 1 preorder so far? Something like 10 BTC value? Please correct me if im wrong, other then that, until there is REAL evidence that it exists, we can only FUD around until we see it

Can the community do some sleuthing with the BTC transactions they used to pay halongmining for the pre orders?

Did all the payments go to the same wallet? Trace some of the payments on the blockchain to see how they have been spent.

Anyone here have some knowledge about transaction forensics? Lets do it.
