S9 will be in the market for a long time. If you are Bitmain, why would you want to release any new product when existing product still hit a 3 month ROI...
Let alone the limitation of silicon chip being reached. Efficiency comes with size reduction... you cant expect wafer fab to have fast development as the past 20 yrs anymore. We are reaching the limit already.

One reason may be to stay ahead, you don't want to find yourself 6 months from now in a position when a competitor is selling equipment you can't compete with. Also, there are players like Bitfury that may be eating part of Bitmains lunch in the industrial space.

I read 14Th/s batch have bad quality than 13.5th/s. More complaint from customer... It's true ? Old topic... And no futures... Stock firmware from Bitmain on the Antminer S9 isn't that great. If someone re-writes the OS to increase efficiency, I will pay a dev fee.
I tried to reverse the system, with SSD, we can have access to everything. But there are two solutions for now, use bmminer, and try to disable auto tune, and use any frequency (it's a risk). Or maybe use ccminer, but it need to compile and work with Asic chip... And maybe it will be more efficiency... The main question, is what is the goal ? More frequency ? Best cooling ? Ultimately, to extend the life of the miner. I use Blissz firmware on an antminer D3. I can decrease the power consumption while keeping the hashing relatively high. He also solved the fan noise issue.

Is there a way to flash the firmware to factory if there is a problem? Thanks in advance.

I think Bitmain have a many money now to R&D, just check their new project Sophon. Ultimately, to extend the life of the miner. I use Blissz firmware on an antminer D3. But nothing for S9....

One board stopped hashing a couple hours ago. Red light on board was off. System only showed 2 boards. I shutdown, reconnected the cables on the non-hashing board, rebooted and now all 3 hashing..... for now.

Let alone the limitation of silicon chip being reached. Efficiency comes with size reduction... you cant expect wafer fab to have fast development as the past 20 yrs anymore. We are reaching the limit already.
bitmain is working on a new 7 nm ASIC. halong mining is offering 16 TH miner in march`2018.

There was a recall and not very many were shipped, so most got fixed from the factory. The concern is there might be some floating around resellers. There hasn't been a rash of complaints here so it seems like it's not a huge deal.

Happened to me too. I had 2 sets of orders for Dec 21-30 made about a day apart. They pushed back the second one about a month ago, and now they pushed back the first one.
