I do not know whether there is any other way than to buy or hold because i still do not understand all about bitcoin. There may actually be more ways than to buy or hold on this forum if you can find out or ask the bitcoin officials.

Buying a house with bitcoin is a bit hard in my opinion. But if your bitcoin is transferred to money like a dollar it will be easier. Because it can be said no one accepted if you want to buy a house with bitcoin.

It seems that it will be hard if money will be extinct. Because still no one can replace cash. In my country also so, there are still many who use cash to give salaries to its employees. Still rarely people are using like atm.

I think it depends on the bitcoin price you have invested. If you invest in a time when the price is stable and you want to sell when the price is rising. If that's possible it does not include selling bitcoins that are stupid. But that's a very smart strategy to me.

Stability may not help the popularity. Come to think of the coin Xaurum which its value is almost $500, the price don't move much a day and that makes users back away for trading with a coin which the market price don't fluctuate much means lesser trading profit.

Diversify is the best strategy. There is no good reason to go all in on any one single thing. Mix it with stocks, foreign currency, Bitcoin, even gold or silver and you will be far better off. Even saving money is a part of diversifying.
