I  reinstalled the VH version and it will not detect any miners. am I missing something when I am installing (i.e. are there corrective steps that have not been added to the original post?)

These are the instructions I used when I installed on my Pi4.

it worked with the wareck github link... strange.

No idea what that means??

Are you using someones else's github distro?  If so make sure their legit and not malicious.  I would only use code from the actual developers which are Kano or VH (vthoang).

Hi guys, can you tell me if I can use cgminer with ubuntu 21.10 version on raspberry PI 4B or should I use 20.04 LTS version?

My experience was always to use the x.04 LTS version.  The x.10 always seem to have problems.

I am having trouble getting 4 Newpacs to work with my PI4. I installed the latest CGMIner (Kano version as suggested in the GMiner forum - strangely this is 4.9.2 - hopefully the correct one)

No idea where one would get that old version.

Here is a link to a post that has the current version and compile instructions:

I don't see any .conf files. I could try to uninstall and reinstall but I am not sure which step the .conf file would have been created.

...

Would it have been in the ./configure --enable-gekko step you think?
No, there's a save configuration option in the CGMiner UI.  Selecting that option is what would create the configuration file.  If you didn't find it then you may not have done that.

Uninstalling/reinstalling wouldn't help, I don't think.  Sounds like you have some other issue.
66  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: April 14, 2022, 09:19:54 PM
When I change the freq in the code the program still runs properly without error but the miners continue target the standard rates of 200 MHz and 150 MHz

Well, it sounds like you may have saved the configuration to a .conf file.  If so you can find it and delete it and then just run with the command line.

I prefer the command line rather than the .conf file.

I've set it to 750 now and will leave it a few days to see if it runs any differently. I see it's already changed the frequency to 550/550/550 which presumably is part of some initial auto tuning.

I would try tuning at each power level from 3 to 7 and see what works best for you.  Power consumption isn't the only thing to worry about but also Heat dissapation at the higher levels.  Also your highest hashrate may be at a lower power level frequency combination.

I have a R606, which is running very nicely with an original Raspberry Pi, plugged direct into the pi's USB, running with "--gekko-r606-freq 1000" and think I have the power at the max (all three LEDs lit). This is the current output:

Questions:
1. Is this the best I'm likely to get, or may it be better with a powered hub and/or a more recent pi?

I think that's about the hashrate you would get 500Mhz on Power Level 4.

I would try 750Mhz at Power Level 4.  Increasing the Power Level to max will just consume more power with no benefit past a certain point.  You need to find the sweet spot for hashrate and power consumption.

You don't need a Powered USB hub for R606's since they are powered by an ATX Power supply.

what of the config file ? i will like to input my settings in it ... how do i create  / locate it ..? looked through the cgminer directory looking for gekko.config i imagine but didnot find one ..

The extension for the config file is .conf.

The conf file is a pain in the a--.  I like just using the command line so that I can easily make changes when I want to try something different.

But each to their own.  Just don't forget you started using the stupid thing because it overrides your command line when you try using it.

Getting a COMPAC F soon in the mail after waiting 2 months for supplies to replenish... looking to solo mine CHTA during resets with Cgminer 4.12... although it looks like I will be on a pool until solo mining is supported for either Ubuntu or Windoze...

If you want to solo mine you should mine to a good quality and well connected solo pool and then failover to your local Bitcoind or whatever coin your using.

I have acquired a Pi 4 8gig and would like to run my newpac's and r606 through it.
I understand the install and version of cg miner is designed for Raspbian - Kernel version: 4.4.
Is there an install for 'PI OS'? My searches so far have been fruitless as was my attempt to compile it using the current instructions.
I also tried one of the Raspbian images from here https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite/ however this did not work either.
Anyone know which one works with the PI 4?
Thanks in advance.

Here are the instructions I used to install CGMiner on my Pi 4.  I just used the Raspbian OS that came with it.

When the R606's came out I tried the Pi 3b and had terrible performance with it.  I moved up to the Pi 4 and that works great.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Was it the 3B or the 3B+? Not sure if there's much of a difference spec wise but I am running 2 R606's with 5 Compac F's & 2 newpacs on my 3B+ at my family's house with no issues. every once in a while (like once or twice a week) one of the R606's stops hashing and you just need to plug/unplug the USB from the Pi but otherwise it runs smooth. Pushing like 3.5 TH/s there on a headless Pi.

Roughly have the R606s @ 800-1000 GH/s
Compac F's @ ~300GH/s
Newpacs @ ~100 GH/s

Can't remember which mine was for sure, but I think it was a 3B.  It was very unreliable.  The Pi 4 was always stable and never had to reboot, unless the power bounced.  Glad you have good luck with yours.
73  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: November 23, 2021, 05:37:54 PM

Pi4 might be overkill for it if you're trying to save a couple bucks. You can probably get away with a Raspberry Pi 3B+ which is a bit cheaper and just SSH into it. I haven't tested 12+ sticks on mine yet but i think it should handle it no problem. I have a Pi 3B+ Model A that i'll try out and report back on.ting like 3.5-3.9 TH/s off 12 Compac F's.

When the R606's came out I tried the Pi 3b and had terrible performance with it.  I moved up to the Pi 4 and that works great.

I factory-test these on an old Dell 755: to give a hint at the age, service tag says support ended 11 years ago. 14 sticks per machine, 400MHz.

Don't know if you have multiple USB busses on that machine, but if you do, split the load up. I run seven per bus.

Thanks for the reply!  Were you testing on windows or linux?

Windoze Sux.  Use Linux.  Had similar issues with my R606's on Win7.  Switched to Ubuntu and issues went away.  Then switched to the Pi 4 and all was good.  Don't know how 18 sticks would fare vs. my two 606's.
75  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: November 07, 2021, 06:21:34 PM
Yep that seems to be an issue some people are having. It runs from that config file instead of the user made one. Never had that issue myself but it certainly seems to be a common problem.

I think people sometimes, unwittingly, save the config which writes a .conf file and then the command line gets overridden from then on.

Ideally I can build it in a way that I run them as miners working for a local full node on an RPI, but for the short term it seems easier to just solo mine to a pool.  I've never personally operated a node.
It is best to ALWAYS use a known solo pool for mining with any stick miner vs mining to your own node.

I completely agree with !Fuzzy.  However you can still put your full node at the end of your failover list.

So, I've read enough here to know some of you are successfully mining, is it just that I shouldn't be mining with NiceHash? If so, any recommendations?

Known good pools are kano.is and solo.ckpool.org

Use those to get everything configured correctly.

Can anyone shed some light on what the T: and P: actually mean?

T: - Target
P: - Plateau or Peak, I forget which.

Check the R606 threads.  There's allot of information there on these new values.

@ OS2sam, all the wires the same color? If so then the PSU does not meet the ATX standards

On my Seasonic Titanium they are all black.

nevermind, a quick reboot and repositioning of the paperclip and I'm back in action!

Thanks so much to everyone that helped out with comments!

Just ordered one of these for the PSU:

Glad to hear it.

That connector came with the last few Power Supplies I've bought.  They do make things easier.  Especially when all the wires are the same color.
