61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open on: July 08, 2013, 08:38:19 PM
Instead of using a composite of high/low BTC price can you just send a bitpay invoice when you get it set up?  This will reduce exchange rate risk for me since I buyback immediately.

+1 august order
62  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experimenting with Jalapeno firmware... on: July 03, 2013, 01:23:32 AM
I got the AT32UC3A1256 as well.  Jalapenos both flashed and running around 8 ghs.  Added some heatsinks and also an extra fan to blow on them.

Anyone in LA who wants to flash their jalapenos, you can use my equipment for free.  I also have leftover heatsinks I dont want.

I have some extra 5x2 connectors (assembled them from bulk packs), this was the hardest part to source.  Will send the extras out for .1 btc each shipped to US48.

Have been owned a few hours ago. Someone requested a payout of 4 BTC from my account to his wallet. I received an email about this; "...if you have not requested this, please contact us as soon as possible."
I did but no respond until now. I added a the 2way authenticator now and chagend password. I had always the newest antivir active...donīt know how this came and if I ever will see my BTCs again.

Same here, but for less BTC.  2FA now enabled.
64  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss Twins File to Launch Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Product on: July 02, 2013, 06:23:59 PM
I still don't get it. Can someone explain me why anyone would invest in this?

The only reason such a trust makes even the slightest sense is for precious metals as they are hard to store in larger quantities. That's a problem Bitcoin doesn't have.

Why would anyone in his right mind buy these instead of buying Bitcoin directly? Unless people that have no Idea what Bitcoin is of course.

In case the reason to invest in this is obvious: This is a honest question.

I think if the application is accepted, it will open up BTC to institutional investors who can't risk client money on gox and other startup exchanges whose legal compliance is in question.

I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end of gox.

Great, thank you.  A little btc coming your way too.   Smiley

Refund policy was shown in the terms of agreement when checking out my order, I can't retrieve it now.

There's nothing talking about refunds ...

Thanks, I must have been thinking returns and not refunds.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 28, 2013, 06:20:27 PM
I've been trying to find out what the refund policy is on pre-orders.  I was considering ordering a Saturn, but given ship dates won't be until October, I'd want to cancel the order if the difficulty is looking like it will be too great at that time (90M+)

Does anyone have direct knowledge of how kncminer deals with refund requests on pre-orders?

It was said that they would honor refunds up until the ship date but I can't remember where that was.  I just checked their site and couldn't find anything.

Bitcoinorama may have brought that back from his visit, I haven't checked that thread.

Their refund policy really should be added to the website.

Refund policy was shown in the terms of agreement when checking out my order, I can't retrieve it now.  IIRC refunds are completely at the discretion of KNC.  They say publicly that they will refund orders if the time comes, but I expect they will stop the bleeding if SHTF.

NEW VERSION 3.1.1, JUNE 22 2013
...
  • Windows: Now compiled with debugging information and new backtrace.dll to print usable backtraces to stderr on crash.
Luke, I noticed that when 3.1.1. crashes on Win7, it does NOT bring up a Windows error dialog (i.e. "bgminer.exe has stopped working ... close or debug"). It just gracefully, silently, exits. Do you happen to know the reason for this?

This is actually great because I can now run it from a .bat file that has a loop; if it crashes, the .bat file just restarts it and all is well again. I no longer have to worry about losing a night's worth of mining when I get a crash during the night.

Can this 'non-interactive' crash behaviour be included in future releases as well? Or, at least enabled by a command-line switch? It is something that would be of benefit to many, I suspect.

Can you share your looped batch file?  the best i could do was to run a batch file under scheduled tasks, and the script checks if bfgminer.exe is running or not.

71  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Preorders -- What did you get? | Who has the lowest order number? on: June 21, 2013, 11:30:02 PM
The test orders that Steve and I put through to their database entries were 1650-1655.

So 1656 and 1657 are the lowest order numbers after the page was made public.

Because bitpay called them test orders?
72  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Preorders -- What did you get? | Who has the lowest order number? on: June 21, 2013, 11:10:43 PM
Figured this would be fun for a bump - wonder what order numbers they are at now...

One of the 'test' orders was delivered.  #1653

I heard about it through reddit here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1fp68b/satoshi_square_la_the_first_openair_bitcoin/

but the site that it's linked to http://spelunk.in/ organized the events.  I didn't see any advertisements for the event on this forum, but I'm sure there were BTCtalk members there.

My house sigil has been created.

Started as a freeman with a single miner.  Now commanding a mining operation, long and short term trading positions, and 1st level face to face arbitrage network, with the goal of increasing BTC holdings to hypernode level within a year.  Seeking vassals, bannermen, and other supernodes for diplomatic relations.

By the power vested in me, Gman, Earl of Manhattan Beach, I hereby proclaim Este Nuno free man, and promise to not touch his life and liberty, in peace or in war, unless and until, he willingly comes to my aid in the time of great peril. Long live Este Nuno!

I think I qualify for Destitute Node at the moment.

When I can find work for bitcoins I expect to level up well into the Freeman classes quickly though.

When I have 0.1 bitcoin I will be Freeman 3rd class already, is that correct? That's quite a jump.

People could easily become Freemen if there were more services or jobs in the bitcoin economy.

78  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bank of America vs. Mt. Gox on: June 04, 2013, 04:34:43 PM
It looks like Bank of America is still blocking wire transfers to gox.

Quote
According to our records, this account was previously suspended from the Funds Transfer Service therefore it cannot be added at this time. For information relating to this account, please contact a Bank of America customer service representative.

Just got the above when trying a wire transfer.  Does anyone know a bank that will allow wire transfers?
79  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [NR 1] Triplemining.com <> BIG jackpot every week <> on: May 24, 2013, 05:23:16 PM
Does triplemining support difficulty > 1 shares?  I can't find an option for it but would like to point some asics your way.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wait...Does the March 18th finCen legislation make it illegal to trade bitcoins? on: May 16, 2013, 12:15:29 AM
There is no "1,000 per day" threshhold to be considered a money transmitter:

Quote
No activity threshold applies to the definition of money transmitter. Thus, a person who engages as a business in the transfer of funds is an MSB as a money transmitter, regardless of the amount of money transmission activity.

from http://www.fincen.gov/financial_institutions/msb/definitions/msb.html

The phrase "as a business" is curious though. Does that mean as a casual miner that I do not engage "as a business?" This still seems a little vague to me. I can't believe that FinCEN gives two sh!ts about casual miners making .03 BTC per day on their 7970.

Honest question, does a 2 person exchange between USD and BTC count as a money transmission?  I thought transmitters were the middlemen in the business of moving money from A to B.

The person selling BTC for USD is a money transmitter if that person mined the BTC. IF they bought, they are a user as well.

A person acting as the middleman between buyer and seller is a money transmitter and exchanger.

The person buying BTC is a user.

The $1000/day stipulation is regarding and exchanger exchanging two more or more foreign currencies up to $1000 total a day an MSB, The same definition states virtual convertible currencies are not included because they are not foreign currencies.

Thanks, this is clear now.  The 1000 limit does not apply.
