now with Masternode POS, my nodes with version 17 should be updated to 22?

Considering it's a protocol bump, you're going to need to anyway or not get paid when enforcement kicks back on.

Enforcement is ON.

Is this a protocol bump?

Yes.

I still don't get if i need to restart node in order to update Smiley

Yes.

On March 21st, there were 2407 MNs.

Today there are 2174 active MN. I haven't seen such drop in the number of active MNs for a while. Any ideas what's going on, aside the people selling to lock in the profit. (but than, that would go against the idea of a Masternode)

Is this a result of Proof of Work, Even just posted?

It's mainly because of the recent update... the count always goes down until people find the time to do the update AND those Masternodes are listed again.

Look at this graph and guess when the last 3 updates happened:

Guys do we have the enforcment on? Wondering if my masternodes payment luck is at low lvl Wink

It's on for more than a day now.

You can always check the current status here.
I don't see a list of links like this on our website.  Is there a list of these useful links and tools some where? Thanks

Can anyone confirm that he was able to run multiple masternodes on one vm (with multiple ips) since the latest release ?
Or any link to something official about this matter

Thanks

I do, no problems so far.

if you disagree with my statement above, i dont care, but answer that simple question: what if evan duffield suddenly announces he quits the project tomorrow morning?
good luck

I agree with a lot of your statements above, but this last one has an easy answer: I would simply fork the Dash repository and try to keep Dash alive together with flare and Udjin and whoever else will offer his/her help.

It WILL be hard to replace Evans input, but 13 months ago Evan started with even less than we have now!

With Dash we adopted a more active role and a few Chinese members of the community (kudos to Alexy and Raico) gave a lot of ideas to Tungfa about what kanji to use so we could start using one ourselves instead of leaving that to someone else. Our chosen one means something like 'currency to unite the world':

How to calculate masternode profits ? Anyone ?
https://dashninja.pl/masternodes.html
Quote
Estimated daily payout for an active node (blocks with MN payments last 24h: 100%): 0.21 DASH/day (Last Refreshed: Thu Mar 26 2015 9:47:57 PM)

Correct calculations can always be found here: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Dash/masternode_payments_stats.html

Now on more important things does anyone else have the latest mn count?

In cases when elberth's site is down you can always look over here: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Darkcoin/masternode_payments_stats.html

My hope is that sometime in the near future, all of these helpful commands and fixes will be incorporated into the wallet in a way that is easier for everyone to implement...

It's in the queue since last year and will be incorporated one day, see http://jira.darkcoin.qa/browse/DRK-139

checked my wallet 3 or 4 times today. I keep getting a silly low number of masternodes being reported on the info screen?
Anyone else getting similar?

Keep the wallet open a bit longer, depending on your internet connection it needs a while until all Masternodes are reported to the wallet.

When you open the Console window the command "masternode count" shows the current number, it updates faster than the "Information" window.

Or if you're too lazy to compute this yourself, see last line here: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Darkcoin/masternode_payments_stats.html

On the bottom is says: Payment fees are NOT included!
Average payment intervals computed for MY Masternodes only.

If I may, what are were your startup costs and how much do you cost to your nodes per month?

I'm not 100% sure if I understand your question correctly...startup costs for one Masternode are (obviously) 1000 DRK, and that costs are of course dependent on the exchange rate when they were bought.
I have some which were mined, but those were probably even more expensive due to electricity costs.

The payments fees (which are included in most transactions) are negligible, they are usually in the sub 0.001 DRK range and wouldn't make much of a difference.

The running costs per Masternode are about $3.5 per month.

75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 17, 2015, 04:07:17 PM

So the daily payout rate is currently 70 cents for 1 Masternode?
It's approximately 576 (ideal blocks per day [24 hours x 60 minutes divided by 2.5 block confirms]) x 4.64 block reward (floor value adjusted for diff; block reward decreases by ~7.1% annually) x 40% (increases 2.5% per month until 60%) = 1069 coins to the masternodes divided by the masternode count (2322) = .46 DRK/DASH per day x .0113 BTC rate = .0052 BTC x $288 BTC Price = $1.50/day.

Or if you're too lazy to compute this yourself, see last line here: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Darkcoin/masternode_payments_stats.html

Examples include:

- Sponsoring an advertising campaign
- Sponsoring development
- Donating to the Darkcoin Foundation's address

- Consolidating the Masternode payments to one dedicated wallet without the need to start the hot wallet

Yet what Evan has done is set precedent saying it is ok to take over a coin by buying out the dev and taking over the repo.  This creates a MASSIVE centralization issue for Darkcoin.

That's not 100% correct:

  • Darkcoin is open source with MIT/X11 license. Everyone can take over and continue. The nice repository name would be gone, that's all.
  • If Evan has the right on the name "Darkcoin", the name would be lost. Tragic....

So imagine the worst case scenario, Evan sells the name "Darkcoin", sells the repository and buys a yacht.

The next thing which would happen:
Yours truly would fork the original Darkcoin repository, rename the whole shebang (I think "Dash" would be a cool name), build wallets for Windows, Linux and OSX, inform the community and call it a day.
Nobody would lose a single coin. All Masternodes would still run.

The _value_ of the coin would most probably go down for a while during that process, though.
Annoying, yes, but not the end of the world.

Again, you think Evan is just going to "give up" the Darkcoin repo on github and there's magically going to be a masternode network to power a clone? Really?

Who cares about the name of the source repository...just clone whatever he does (it's open source) and stay with the well branded name "Darkcoin" for the end-user product. This WILL split the community. And that's the point I'm most afraid of....

How is that any different than someone cloning the coin right now... it won't magically create a masternode network serving as the backbone. Further, it's far more probable precautions will be taken to make sure there is a stale period on the Darkcoin name.

The cloner would have the well known brand name, the original would be "new" from the POV of most of the world.

The question is if DRK can get away with a name change and not loose its support.

Some think it can't. I think it can because there isn't anything else going thats going to offer what it's developing.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rebranding-and-scalability.4254/page-9#post-45246

This would easily halve followers, dev-team and market-cap.

IOW, we ourselves would create this "anything else".
