Great, the more people know about the advantages of DASH over other cryptocoins the more people want to be DASH partecipants.

Like having a market sector to itself with truly original tech where incentivised, decentralised network specialisation can be levered to solve problems that mono-functional networks can only dream about. Such as solving the fungibility problem without recourse to 'invisibility'.

Like not having to occupy the same tiny tech space with 10 other projects all doing basically the same thing.

Like not having to worry about "oops, here comes Bytecoin to byte us in the ass with a brand new GUI Cryptonote Wallet, refactored codebase, a bunch of 'proper devs' and a customer-oriented roadmap and their thread is already in the top trending threads of blockchained.com.

 ^^^^^^^^
(P.S. That is very cheeky of me and I would normally feel quite inhibited about poking fun at other coin's sensitivities but hey - this thread is so heavily trolled that I feel like a catholic just after absolution from the pope himself.

P.P.S. What is also very cheeky of me is grabbing myself a bunch of BCN at a bargain 7 sats ready for the ride when the near 20k of XMR that just got dumped in the last hour picks up it's hedge  Wink  )

Wow! Bytecoin is back and then some.

Out of all the reasons not to touch XMR, the main reason I never bothered to hedge DASH with it was the fear of the original devs (i.e. Bytecoin) lapping Monero overnight because it was their tech that was cloned.  Grabbing some popcorn for this one.  Cheesy

@any Coreteam member or Dev

Has Bitfinex been contracted about the rebrand? As of today, their site still shows "Darkcoin".

Can we just stop interacting with the guy?  He has been given advice that he has not bothered to follow.  Hence, this is obvious trolling.

As other have posted, Darksend is working and working quite well.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 31, 2015, 03:00:47 AM
rebranding ffailed ... selll all my dash , and move on

LOLOLOLOL, someone was expecting to make 5000% maybe?

The positive aspect of the name change will slowly pay off fully in time. My goodness on your thoughts, or are you just trying to buy in cheap?

Not to mention that since the rebranding to DASH was made official on March 15 the price is up about 70%.

11.2 - The Dash Release - Mandatory Update!

https://dashtalk.org/threads/11-2-dash-release.4515/

Awesome release.  Shocked

Love all the hardwork amist everything going on with rebrand. New wallet is very nice looking and I do like seeing the beginnings of the PoSv implemention that you discussed on the LTB episode.

Keep it up and don't listen to the haters.  Tongue
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 30, 2015, 03:46:13 AM
I must be missing something.

DASH was originally Evan's idea and a little more than a year into the project he is still the primary decision maker.

Bitcoin was originally Satoshi's idea and a little more than a year into the project (that would be early 2010) he was still the primary decision maker.

Why are we being held to a completely different standard compared to the most successful crytpocurreny project to date?

Young projects like this one need a strong guiding hand or else they will not be able to evolve (or fix their problems) fast enough to survive. It is about efficiency. Look at the logo selection process. That was handled democratically and people are still having a go at each other a week later over this or that change. Do people really want every decision to be like this?

Vertoe's concerns will be valid if Evan is still the sole decision maker in 2-3 years time. Just like over the 6 years Bitcoin moved from things being under Satoshi's control to using the BIP process, I expect the same here.

In short, holding this coin to a standard that Bitcoin didn't even meet is disingenuous at best and FUD at worst.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 29, 2015, 10:40:22 AM
  looks like "DRSH"  Huh

-onetime
I don't see the R but I wouldn't mind if they closed the line off in the A.  It might even look better because the D is already so stylized...
The A, styled in this fashion, sports a little C in the white part of it. This is a subtle subliminal message that DASH is "Cash". Subliminal messages can be quite powerful, so that's why I've been advocating keeping it.

the subliminal "C" is NOT worth making the word illegible. this is important. people need to look at it and see DASH, not DRSH.  Sad

-onetime

The logo "as is" is the one that got voted for, this would not have happened if everyone's first impression was that it looked like an R. Most people see an A, this hasn't been a problem.

I'm had so much trouble seeing an "R" that I had to help myself. This is what the actual letter could look like:

I think it's a big difference and people seeing it for the first time definitely do NOT think "DRSH" with the original version.
I like the logo as it is, with the hidden "c".

+1 Hidden subliminal "C" FTW!!!

I agree. What is the point of having a vote if Evan goes and changes the logo because a few people are complaining?

It really seems like you can't win with some people.  If Evan makes a decision without resorting to some democratic process (a la a vote) then people get mad, but when we do have a vote people get mad at the results.  Logo #1 won the vote.  Simple as that.  Plus it really doesn't look like an "R" unless you slide the dash as Macrochip shows above.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 27, 2015, 11:27:44 AM
The re-branded wallet doesn't seem to support the "litemode=1" option in the conf file - meaning I have an unusable wallet again on Win7 64bit. This is on both the installer & the binary versions.

Going back to the previous version.

That shouldn't be so, as the the changes are only aesthetics, ergo, logo only.

 Weird.

That's what I thought. Using the "litemode=1" option in the conf file eliminated the mixing tab from the wallet gui & made the wallet usable, but it has no affect on the newer wallet, it's still there: high cpu usage, ultra slow sync, not responding, etc......

Silly question, but you did rename the conf file to dash, right?
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 25, 2015, 10:45:40 PM
sooo new wallet? or wtf is going on can someone catch me up to speed??

The name simply changed from Darkcoin to DASH and a new wallet reflects the new name.

When will we get a "fancy" new wallet instead of the same old looking one?

You can get it now on testnet until the bugs and visuals are ironed out.

Yeah I know, I was just hoping the re-brand would make a bigger splash.  :/

I guess I should be glad that the core team is more technical than marketing centered.  (We do need some good marketing too though)

Well if they released something untested then it would have been a disaster. Better safe than sorry when you have this many eyes on the you. Plus we are up 2x since Evan announced the change was official. I would say we have made a "big splash".  Tongue

Especially considering that Evan has applied for a trademark for the name Darkcoin...

Time to pester Kraken yet again to adopt Dash.

Anyone with me ?? Hate the old and new web interface, but its the most secure exchange out there, imho.

I was thinking more along the lines of OKCoin. Weren't they rumored to be interested in DRK a while back?
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 25, 2015, 09:47:54 AM
PHWARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR price rise AND rise in the number of Masternodes
Total Masternodes: 2418 = 2418 actives

If this isnt a sign of strength I dunno what is!
+1
This is probably last time we see such a low DRK/DASH price.
wait till tomorrow.

What is special about tomorrow?
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 25, 2015, 07:40:29 AM
so? i dont care about any of your FLASH that FLASH that.... i wont sell any Dash no matter what

Not to mention that the total volume since the evo incident is about 10,000 btc which pales in comparison to the 130,000 btc stolen. Basically, the stolen coins total to more than our entire marketcap... in other words, it makes no sense to launder through DRK/DASH.

Plus if they where laundering through us then why is BTC crashing? Huh

130,000 btc stolen sound awful high to me. i remember when sheep went down and they claimed they stole 40k when in reality it was more like 5k. the 40k ended up being a btc-e wallet if i remember correctly.
you got a link that explains how they had 130k to steal?
either way btc is sinking like a stone right now as we speak.

I have no links either way just posting what I heard in various places.

Can you please STOP FUCKING TALKING TO THE TROLLS. Jesus christ just put them on ignore already. I can't ignore them if you keep goddamn quoting them for fucks sake.

The really obnoxious ones I don't quote. In fact if you go back through my posts I generally don't quote people who are here to attack and demean. But occasionally I will respond to one or two on specific posts that merit some response.

qvan is not an obnoxious troll, he's more of a naive "I don't know why I'm here.....can someone show me the way back to Dashcoin?" troll. Somewhat harmless and he'll eventually run out of whine and give up on such a futile line of questioning/demand.

Alright alright sorry, why not just ignore though?

I've certainly been guilty of this behavior in the last week.  It must be what it is like at AA or something, you feel dirty, unfulfilled and down on your self after interacting with such scum.   Sad   My name is Richard and i'm been a TRoll Feeder.   But I am recovering....thanks Anon.

Yeah it is really just best to ignore them.

Actually, this thread is not nearly as bad as the general altcoin section. There must be at least 10 anti-DRK/DASH threads filled to the brim with Monero supporters calling for legal action against Evan. Just disgusting. Who are these people and why do they have this much time to FUD on a daily basis.... Roll Eyes

All the while, the price keeps rising as real investors (i.e. people don't bother with Bctalk) are buying into an excellent coin.

At this rate we will be seeing ATH against BTC in a few hours lol.....onward to 0.05+ I say

Yep. We will be there in a bit.   Wink

Btw, do you know of any other alt that returned to its ATH (vs. BTC) after a prolonged (say, a few month) downtrend?  I can't think of any...
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 25, 2015, 02:57:04 AM
I need a Countdown Clock For Dash.

Please someone knowledgeable....

Major exchanges and partners know to convert from Darkcoin to Dash on the 25th (as per announcement).  You'll see the begining of this migration over the next 24 hours or so.  It will be a bit of a process that is not likely to be instant, but will run it's full course in the near term.

It is important not to expect all sites to update at a specific time or even tomorrow. Tomorrow is just the beginning of the rebranding process. All the exchanges, trading info sites, news services, faucets, merchants, payment processors, etc, have to update, and that will take time. We will start contacting sites on a one to one basis starting tomorrow but this process will definitely take a couple of weeks

Major sites will probably update the quickest but I can easily see minor sites updating for a couple of weeks.

Do you know what is planned for this thread? Obviously a title change...

Also a brand new first post is in order, right?  I would expect that a lot of people who only occasionally keep up with crytpo news will see DASH at 4 on coinmarketcap and come over to this thread to read about this awesome "new coin". Given that, taking this opportunity to make a well organized, informative first post with updated information is very important IMO.

Ignore button still works great.

Thanks for the assist. I was just about to respond to another person who can't seem to figure out that Evan wasn't the only person mining at launch... but then I just hit the ignore button.  Tongue
