61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOLD can now be made in laboratories and what it means for bitcoins on: May 02, 2014, 12:24:23 AM
It means next to nothing and even the scientist admits that.

As for what a man made precious metal or stone would do to a real market, I suppose diamonds are extremely cheap now since they can be man made, right LOL

If every investment succeeded we'd all be rich.

63  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Gox on: April 30, 2014, 11:47:14 AM
Sunlot based on what I read has named it New Gox.

I thought about it for a second and agreed the term "New" is a good idea, simply being gox is no longer as good as I mentioned above.

NewGox  Cool

65  Economy / Service Discussion / New Gox on: April 30, 2014, 03:09:37 AM
So far it appears mtgox will be renamed New Gox which imo makes sense in terms of marketing and here is why. Regardless of your feelings there is value in the name and recognition, good or bad, its got value.

Adding NEW to it implies things have changed and thus New Gox, perfect.

As far as the deal moving forward, hurdles still and courts have to agree but even if you dislike it the chance they can rebound and investors get funds back and more is possible. They plan on expanding the coin list and so on, not just a redue but change.

So... support NEW GOX! Because continuing hate on a company willing to revive something is a good thing and may be good for a lot of people, big and small.

New Gox... looks like it is happening.

69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin after the collapse of the Dollar on: April 22, 2014, 03:37:37 AM
No dollar, no bitcoin value, sorry.

Bitcoin would have to be more valued than gold.

People off grid or on will not exchange in something which can be destroyed, hard asset cannot.

Nick is the second layer!  Shocked

Handful to go lol

The only reason someone would go through all this trouble is they are A) A nutter B) The Government C) Truly and honestly believe their life would be in danger for an idea that hadn't yet been successful.

My guess is B.

What I fined humorous is the almost diagnosable social issues these men have. I am starting to think secrecy is not the most important thing because of the work they do more so than their own psychological issues.

Just adds to the stigma.

He might be dead. If he's several people I wonder if it will make him easier or harder to track?
[/quote]

On one hand harder and on the other easier. More people, more talk, more leaks etc. It has pros and cons.

I found this a good starting point, taken from Wiki. So question, who owns this forum at that time, why don't they expose the IP addresses, who caught vulnerability and had power/auth to fix it. I mean was this just a community hey anyone join in growth or what?

Creation[edit]

In November 2008, a paper was posted on the internet under the name Satoshi Nakamoto titled Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. This paper detailed methods of using a peer-to-peer network to generate what was described as "a system for electronic transactions without relying on trust".[8][9][10][11] In January 2009, the Bitcoin network came into existence with the release of the first open source Bitcoin client and the issuance of the first bitcoins,[9][12][13][14] with Satoshi Nakamoto mining the first block of bitcoins ever (known as the "genesis block"), which had a reward of 50 bitcoins. The value of the first bitcoin transactions were negotiated by individuals on the bitcointalk forums with one notable transaction involving a 10,000 BTC pizza.[9]

On 6 August 2010, a major vulnerability in the Bitcoin protocol was spotted. Transactions weren't properly verified before they were included in the transaction log or "block chain" which let users bypass Bitcoin's economic restrictions and create an indefinite number of bitcoins.[15][16] On 15 August, the vulnerability was exploited; over 184 billion bitcoins were generated in a transaction, and sent to two addresses on the network. Within hours, the transaction was spotted and erased from the transaction log after the bug was fixed and the network forked to an updated version of the Bitcoin protocol.[17][18] This was the only major security flaw found and exploited in Bitcoin's history.[15][16]

Generally what I do if I want to find someone is first start with the closest link and work back.

Who do we KNOW worked with or must have worked with Satoshi, start with them, go back.

Really people unless Satoshi is  gov project and is in fact a real individual, he/she/they are able to be found.

I mean who founded the foundation, how did Jed start using the coin, who helped him, there are many leads to foloow.

I think we wouldve found him by now. He obviously wasnt sloppy. The biggest mystery is the unspent coins.

Possibly only because if he/they went through so much trouble to stay private that any spending would create a trail.

Or they already sold out? Or it is gov backed so will never be spent or spent downt the road or or or...

For me personally I just don't care enough but what we need to know is the first hint of their use was when... Jed?

Start with that, has anyone ever asked Jed how he discovered them and how he developed a platform to trade them? He MUST I mean MUST know something.

Maybe this has been asked but it seems clear people must know something more and just haven't said. Be it money or threat of death, both likely reasons lol

76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ron Paul says Bitcoin is not "True Money". on: April 18, 2014, 07:41:15 PM
It isn't about tech, it is about hard, gold is hard, printing paper to infinity or creating a digital form, mined or not that can keep being duplicated is just as bad, maybe easier. If a government or group can simply create money again but in a different shape with no REAL backing like gold, what is the difference. You have simply used a different form to mask the same problem.

That is the issue, age is not, understanding is.

Actually it's about religion-- christians have always loved gold and that's how Ron Paul's grandpa prolly got land off the Lakotas.

Might be true however the world since time has valued gold, Christian or muslim (Countries have seasons dedicated to its buying as storages of wealth), never been worthless, never will be. Something else a digital currency cannot promise. It is insurance you can hold.

Don't get me wrong, bitcoin has advantages, ease, fee's etc but it will never be what gold is or was. I don't think it was ever ment to be compared any ways.

I used to like him a fair bit but realized ultimately he was unable to do/change anything.

I'm here (bitcoinland) entirely because of Ron Paul.

Why, it isn't silver or gold, what he considers real money, solid, in your hand, hard currency, desired since the beginning of time, money. Not a digital creation that can be destroyed or made to infinity like the fiat he so detests.

If anything, the motive behind bitcoin (antigov) is what he respects, the actual bitcoin, not so much.

Ron Paul gave you encouragement to be here to in a sense protest paper money but this would not be his desired vehicle.

Someone can speak the truth but actually being able to mobilize is another issue, his son will be the same.

80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin was copied but didn't need to generate coin. on: April 15, 2014, 01:56:19 AM
While true you can divide a bitcoin however the finite number of 21 million is still a huge issue at the end of the day because 1 bitcoin is still only worth X.

What would a bitcoin have to be worth to impact the entire world financial system?  $ X 21 million Sad

That would result in one very big issue, a large majority are owned by very few people, maybe XXXX worldwide. Those people would become so wealthy, powerful etc that the forbes list would have to be renamed and add a trillionaire spot(s).

It just won't happen, can't. If it ever did based on a crypto it would be government owned/backed, there is no way the government would allow it any ways. All the hypotheticals are fun but again, futile.
