Why do we need masternodes when we can have simply PoS and PoW. Isn`t it the same ? You just lockdown some DRK in your wallet and you receive a certain amount whenever you keep your wallet open.
Masternodes process DarkSend transactions. PoW is still how new coins are generated, and how regular transactions are processed, masternodes just get a cut of the block reward (20%). |

Important Question Guys!!
If I keep my Darkcoin in a cold storage for few months do I still get interest on it or does it have to be on my hot wallet running all the time to get interest.
An explanation on how it works would be helpful.

You are confusing Darkcoin with POS (proof of stake) coins. People who run masternodes (which require 100DRK to setup) will receive a reward (which will vary depending on the number of people running masternodes). There is no interest. |

Can someone help me with my issue? I have downloaded the DRK wallet and left it to sync, it keeps getting stuck on block 75327 of the transaction history and is running 2 weeks behind! I have left this for more than a day with an active internet connection, but no luck! I have tried closing and re-opening, again with no luck. Any help is much appreciated!

I'm giving serious thought to offering escrow to help people set-up master nodes.
I keep hearing - I can't afford one, will never be able to get one, etc...that puts people off. That's not the main concern. My concern is that the perception of affordability leaves open the door to clones which begin to look like good value.
I have 10 mining rigs, plus another 3 PCs sitting around. So might be able to do a few private escrow wallet pools. Trust is the big issue. Am looking at technical challenges today.
Maybe if several people offered something similar, we might get people with 250 DRK to pool with others. They operate the MN, escrow operates the wallet and weekly / bi-monthly pay outs.
edit - that does diminish the security aspect of MN. Affordability was one of the barriers to protect the network. So still undecided.
Thoughts welcome.

If you want true anonymization without the need of masternades you should take a look at MRO. DRK has brought a lot movement into the anoymous functionality but the concept of masternades is sadly a weakspot. You never know who controls how much of them and if you were realy anonymous. MRO instead guarantees anonymity on the protocol level. They're currently even contributing to the I2P project to include it later in the coin which will hide all IP addresses additionally. Until the majority moves there I'll enjoy making cash with DRK One word: Bloat |

Surprised you are saying these things, Evan is a one man band and I have faith XC is doing some interesting things and is worthy competition which has to be good.. To dismiss the coin like that is childish... No one cares. That coin was copied/cloned from Darkcoin. Go away. Exactly. First mover advantage is huge. XC missed the boat. All the articles in all the major websites are talking about darkcoin as the anonymous coin, not XC. XC will have to be three times the coin darkcoin is to make a name for itself now, and I don't see that happening. It's funny, I'm pretty sure all the panic sellers who have sold DRK went to buy XC and are now here hyping it to protect their investment and to validate their choice. Seriously, if you believe XC is such a good coin why do you need to come to its bigger brother and brag? Are there people in the XC thread bragging about DRK? Nope.
