Realmente é uma excelente notícia para a comunidade do bitcoin, empresas como microsoft, paypal, e outras grandes aderindo mesmo que com algumas condições etc, ou de forma tímida gera uma segurança jurídica no bitcoin, assim os órgãos competentes dos países não terão força para chegar e inconstitucionalizar o bitcoin por exemplo, ou pelo menos dará uma briga boa, essas grandes empresas reforçam o nosso lado nessa, porque hoje em dia a única coisa que me da medo no bitcoin é justamente as forças contrárias governamentais que podem surgir

Yes, that would make a faucet popular but I'm not looking for a lot of traffic right now) More into just trying things out at the moment. Not in a hurry) I'd rather have sites that stay up than closed down quickly like so many faucets seem to start with paying 500-1000 sats than you see them gone after few weeks or months. It's nice to see you are planning things instead of making too big clumsy steps. That's wise. I hope your faucet will grow and get better with time, as you get more experienced. As other people have said before, it's important that the faucet pays well in order to attract good traffic. My suggestion is that you make it fun, by changing it into a game like faucet, lotto, etc. Success! |

If so, are you guys looking to run a different set of scams since your ICO luck has run out? I guess the next step in running a constant scam would be to take established coins, put all your current development behind it, and make it look like a successful revamp. In the meantime, you goons are collecting coins on the cheap, only to pump and dump on others. I'm sure that's where this is heading.

find a moribund coin with a somewhat alive community (bag holders) buy as cheap as possible. use the community (unknowingly) to advertise the scam hype it as the second resurrection in human history popup the coin and dump it hard. kill it for a second time and for good  That would be not noble at all! Sad if someone has got the knowledge and ability to help and make a difference, but would prefer to use their potential to harm others. But, well, humans can be so weird... |

I like paper wallets. Since I have started with my first bitcoins, I always had the good habit of keeping most of my coins in paper wallets. I even have an offline computer (that has never been online) just to create my paper wallets, backups, etc.
But I would gladly use a hardware wallet if I find it safe and practical enough to use.

IMO, the translations are fine. I would only do it a little differently for the "Number 1" because it alters a little the original message: Peercoin é uma das moedas alternativas verdadeiramente únicas. Uma grande diferença do Bitcoin em relação ao sistema bancário é que para o cidadão comum o saldo na conta do banco pode ser convertido em papel moeda, assim o número na tela não é apenas um número qualquer, é uma representação de quanto em papel moeda o banco lhe deve.
Mas isso também não é verdade. O saldo na conta do banco pode não pode ser convertido em papel moeda, porque não existe papel moeda suficiente para converter todo o saldo. Alguns poucos sortudos (3 a 5%) que chegarem primeiro poderão converter seu saldo em papel moeda. Depois disso o papel moeda acaba, e vc só tem o número na tela! A relação entre o número na tela e o saldo é uma mera promessa que só pode ser cumprida se ninguém duvidar dela! Essa é a grande diferença, e vantagem do Bitcoin: O saldo de sua wallet EXISTE realmente (dentro do blockchain). Já o saldo de uma conta bancária NÃO EXISTE, na medida em que, como o girino apontou, caso haja uma "corrida aos bancos" muita gente vai ficar a ver navios. (...)

1BTC vale 1BTC, sempre valerá 1 BTC... independente de seu preço em qualquer eventual mercado. E quando a wallet mostra um "saldo" de X BTCs, ela não está fazendo nada mais que isso: informando que seu possuidor "tem" X BTCs. O bitcoin não precisa representar qualquer outra coisa para ter valor. Seu valor vem de sua utilidade: se eventualmente pode ser convertido em dólar, ouro, feijão, ou serviços, por exemplo, esse "preço de conversão" não representa o bitcoin, e nem é representado pelo bitcoin, é apenas um preço, uma cotação dada pelo mercado em específico. O número apresentado na wallet representa nada mais nada menos que a própria criptomoeda ali controlada. Mais cedo ou mais tarde a humanidade vai pular nessa toca do coelho e a evolução das criptomoedas será uma realidade sem retorno. Algum dia no futuro alguém vai tentar entender as curiosas sociedades do passado que aceitavam como dinheiro meros pedaços de papel pintado, e dependiam de banqueiros para que esse dinheiro de papel pudesse efetivamente circular. |

A preocupação de ter que transferir o blockchain de um computador para outro sempre passa pela minha cabeça: por exemplo, estou querendo comprar um computador para servir apenas ao Bitcoin (já que o que uso atualmente uso para tudo, inclusive para instalar joguinhos e possíveis trojans  ), mas tenho medo da possibilidade de ter que baixar todo o blockchain novamente, já que uma vez tive que reinstalar a qt, e levei mais de uma semana para baixar/sincronizar tudo ( as trenete daqui de casa é sofrível)... Se for possível simplesmente copiar todo o conteúdo da "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin" de um computador para outro, será bem mais fácil... nunca testei. Obrigado pelas respostas, estou usando a Electrum portátil, com a carteira sincronizada ela ocupa menos de 50 MB e aqui diz que possui tanta segurança quando o bitcoin core https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet Funciona no TOR também. XD Aqui vi no fórum en que basta mover o blockchain com wallet.dat e tudo.... se der erro, as coins não aparecerem ou são de uma carteira diferente da do outro PC basta reescanear usando o comando no console. A internet pode ser salva, o HD vai sofrer um pouco, porém será bem mais rápido. Testei, e realmente funciona. Tive que instalar a bitcoin-qt em um outro computador: - copiei todo o conteúdo da pasta "AppData/Roaming/Bitcoin" (menos o wallet.dat) do computador original; - instalei o programa da Bitcoin-qt no novo computador, e abri o programa; - fechei o programa e substituí, no novo computador, o conteúdo criado em "AppData/Roaming/Bitcoin" pelo conteúdo copiado do computador original; - abri novamente o programa Bitcoin-qt e, após alguns minutos (o programa demora um pouco reescaneando a blockchain) a wallet abriu, já sincronizada. |

This slightly different use case has probably been discussed here before, but I think it also belongs in this thread.
I struggle with what it means to own private keys. I think we just "know" the private keys. Anyone who knows the private key has complete access to the associated bitcoin. So if I try some obscure brainwallet phrase and discover a long unattended address with BTC, is this the same kind of theft as the OP's fraud use case?
Since we can't communicate a warning shot to the person who set up a bad brainwallet passphrase, how can any be sure that the private keys have not been lost due to bad memory/security proceedures? That might be the same thing as finding a $20 bill in the middle of Central Park in NYC. Untraceable owner and no confidence that the authorities can get the money to the rightful owner. Most people would treat it as a windfall, and no one would consider it theft. I think this last point depends on the amount of money found -- if you found a satchel of $100,000 cash, taking it to the authorities would make sense.
But back to the question of "knowing" vs. "owning" private keys. Can there be clear delineation of how to interpret this?
I am not sure how exactly to define how someone can "own" a private key. I would however say that it would generally be considered to be 'stealing" bitcoin in the event that you use some kind of exploit to learn what someone else's private key is Well, at least it is a "moral question". As someone said above, discovering someone else's private key would be more or less like finding someone else's money: There's the possibility that the rightfull owner had lost (does not know anymore) that private key (in the case of the found money, it was a "lost money"), and as a consequence the bitcoins would have been lost anyway: in this situation, as it would be "impossible" to find the owner, I believe "recovering" the coins to the ownership of the "person finder" is acceptable. But there's also the possibility that the "original rightful owner" still has knowledge of the private key (maybe it's someone else's cold storage). In this case, it would be totally wrong to steal the bitcoins from that "found" address. (for the example of the found money, it could be a "hidden treasure"). As it can be very hard to discern the situation (if it was lost or hidden money) the person who eventually collides with someone else's address will be in a moral dillema situation.... But, anyway, key collisions are virtually impossible to happen, fortunately... |
