Smooth. You say you own some Dash, then you must think there are good points. Care to name any?

[...]

Releases tend to, you know, get released. The last major release was a significant upgrade and seemed to have relatively few roll out problems. That speaks to the ability of the team to deliver.

Thanks for the appreciation, we had a hard time improving our test and release process - and there is still room for improvements.

The last rollout was indeed very smooth (no pun intended) and we are looking forward to continue to deliver high quality releases.

Fair enough, so to get back on topic: Any news on the iOS wallet and/or Electrum yet? AFAIK both have been overdue for a while now

iOS wallet is submitted for release and still in review by Apple Appstore team.

If I recall correctly, they only approve Bitcoin wallets. Not entirely sure though.

There are at least wallets for Dogecoin, Ripple and Litecoin in the Appstore.

While evan is going to move away from the masternode model (supposedly).

Is there any evidence of this?  I've never heard anything about it.

He said he is going to move the anonymization on to the protocol level so mixing at the masternode level is not needed anymore. Masternodes will however do the work of quorums i.e. instant transactions (which will be on by default iirc) and decentralized API.

When and where did he say this?

Here, let me Search Function that for you.

Ring signatures are going to be implemented in V2. I will begin development immediately after I opensource V1.

18 months later, that promise remains broken.
[...]

Actually he decided to drop the ring signatures in favor of Darksend/Mixing because of blockchain bloat 10 days later.

RC3 Progress Report

I've had some substantial progress on DarkSend and have figured out how to make our existing system as secure as ring signatures. Vastly improved security, no bloat (from the ring signatures) and without actually having to trust new cryptography (it hasn't been extensively tested like what DarkSend uses) . So I think it'll give us a HUGE advantage in the coming months. More to come soon, I'm going to start implementing this tomorrow.  Grin

Actually every single thing on the OP is a fact, not opinion whatsoever. All of those things happened and you won't find them mentioned let alone explained anywhere on the Dash website or their BCT Ann.

The OP concludes with research so feel free to do so and make up your own mind  Roll Eyes
IHMO writing your OP does not make your claims facts - you are not providing any proof.

Like I wrote: file your accusations as a lawsuit against Darkcoin Foundation if you were scammed. Otherwise your actions are just a form of cyberharassment which is illegal in many countries.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin aka DASH - The biggest ongoing SCAM in crypto on: October 12, 2015, 08:41:45 PM
This thread is to spread the word.

2+ million Darkcoin/DASH were instamined in the first 48 hours30 hours of launch. (1.5 million in the first 8 hours) Dev tries to make everyone believe it was an accident.

After the initial 2+ million coin instamine, they start using private GPU miners while convincing everyone else it's still a CPU only coin.

In addition, they:

- Lower the block emission 100x (500 coins per block to 5 coins per block)
- Lower the total coin supply that can ever exist from 80 million to 20 million
- Try and fail to bury the instamine by not mentioning it on the OP or the website
- Try to distance themselves from these facts by going through two rebrandings

They instamined at 100x emission and then drastically reduced the supply and emission rate once they had their fill. What a scam!  Roll Eyes

Spread the word, research.

To be convincing you should at least try to find some evidence before starting to accuse. Can you at least post some proof of what you are saying is true?

It seems that the OP is very convinced that he has proof that Evan Duffield is a scammer.

If his proofs are that good he should sue him and the Darkcoin Foundation. All information necessary is on their website: https://www.darkcoinfoundation.org/about/team/

If his proofs are made up he should think about stopping his accusations.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin aka DASH - The biggest ongoing SCAM in crypto on: October 12, 2015, 08:24:02 PM
I did not talk about the technology at all, i was asking for a proposal how to mitigate the instamine incident.

And why should someone admit something he did not do? Will you admit that you killed John Lennon?

I threw in the bit about technology for good measure.

So you know for an absolute fact he didn't? Are you eduffield? What qualifies you to speak for him?

There is no way to know what happend until you are Evan - this applies to you and me. Judging on forum posts in hindsight and out of context is not a valid proof, for none of our or anyones theories.

And I did not speak for Evan - i just asked the question "why should someone admit to something he did not do" - in general.

Theoretically speaking:

Given that the instamine was a flaw/bug, Evan was totally overworked, glad he finally solved it by tweaking the code instead of relaunching it, mined a lot of coins, sold some, bought some - what should he do today?

Yes, people are very fond of making excuses for him like you've just done here  Roll Eyes

Like i said, a trivial amount of research reveals the many inconsistencies and so-called coincidences that enabled eduffield to benefit greatly from the instamine.. his deception about the launch time and lack of windows wallet both support the intentional instamine argument. Also, his gross overstatement about "inventing" X11 is a good indicator of his complete lack of ethics

tl;dr: if it smells like shit it most likely is.
Where did I make a excuse for him? I've asked you to propose a mitigation, not to repeat your statements.

Once again: What mitigation plan would suit you?

What's your proposed mitigation to the instamine incident - right now? We can all talk about the past in hindsight.

The main issue is that eduffield continues to insist the instamine wasn't intentional, when a trivial amount of research shows this is completely laughable. Until he admits to the intentional instamine Darkcoin/Dash is a total scam regardless of what you think about the technology.

Why wasn't the "bug" that supposedly caused Dash's instamine caught on testnet?  Dash does have a testnet and is open source, right?

Wrong, there was no testnet for Xcoin in Jan 2014. Evan was working on this coin alone in his sparetime. Since when is being open source a synonym for "bug free software"?

Why wasn't the coin relaunched after such a failed fiasco of a first 48 hours?

Why should it? Is there a definition what fails a launch and what process has to be followed in the case of failure?

Technicalities aside, Dash's instamine was, for everyone not named Evan Scamfield, a premine.  We don't need him to come and 'Duff-splain' all about how Dash's instamine is actually a good thing.

And who are you, calling Evan Duffield insulting names? What's your proposed mitigation to the instamine incident - right now? We can all talk about the past in hindsight.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin aka DASH - The biggest ongoing SCAM in crypto on: October 12, 2015, 12:17:07 PM
Exactly my idea, selling point is "No Premine" yet won't put the instamine comment or tag anywhere visible.

Where does it even say no premine any more? It was in the thread title in the past but it's been gone for a long time.

If you go back several months the title changed long ago...not sure when.

Oh well not important.

Did a quick check, the "No Premine" was removed 1.5 years ago - why do you consider it to be a "selling point" today?

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: October 12, 2015, 12:00:00 PM
Thanks for clarifying. My mistake.

At the same time I still don't think taking 11 other hashes and slapping them sequentially is anything of an "invention".

If so I'm curious why Evan never filed for a patent on X11 if he truly believes it is an invention.

You are welcome.

IMHO slapping existing things together can still be considered to be a invention - one can argue that the novelty standard for something like X11 is low though Smiley

Nevertheless there is no law forcing you to file for a patent before calling something a invention. X11 is open source anyway, so there is no point to file for a patent. Use it as is.

If you want to deal in facts I have presented facts backed up with links.

Care you refute anything I posted in my post above instead of playing on the tune of ethics theatre?

Your claimed facts are wrong

Interesting when chain coin appears to be using the same 11 algorithms (just in a different order). Note date of launch. About 2 months prior:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422149.msg4592564#msg4592564

[...]

Both coins were launched on 2014-01-19 - additionally the ChainCoin dev states that the similarity is "purely coincidence".

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422149.msg4602074#msg4602074

It uses an algorithm similar to XCoin (11 hashes, but in a different order). This is purely coincidence, I already had the client developed a couple of days ago. XCoin uses the Litecoin base afaik and ChainCoin uses a Bitcoin base and includes transaction messages.

Amsterdam Meet-up

Hi,

sitting in a Hotel near the Schiphol airport by myself and wanted to share my experience as well.

I had a couple of very nice and informative days in Amsterdam. Due to a flu I had to postpone my travel by two days and was not able to attend the Bitcoin Wednesday session, but made it to the FinTech Holland session.

The quality of speakers and topics was very good and given the fact that Evan was sick he did a great job to sprint through his slides in four minutes time, following a Q&A of six minutes. After we (dutchnomad, minotaur, balu, otoh) have listened to the final talk about IoT devices we directly headed to the bar and had some beers and fingerfood, where we got approached by some other attendees and discussed current state of Dash and future challenges.

At ~8pm we headed to Amsterdam city having some great Indonesian food and lots of talk about different habits and cultural identities - actually this is what I like most on working on this project since 18 months :-)

All people I have met from the team till now were very open minded and receptive. We are already like a virtual company, sharing the same vision and passion to drive things and I am looking forward where it will get us.

And I fully agree with minotaur on the case of forums: they do not reflect the reality. So do not get to inflicted by some posts here or anywhere - go out and have fun instead, meet other people face to face, make friends, create networks, get Indonesian food and Dutch beer. Be open minded to others peoples ideas and passions.

I for myself have dedicated a lot of time to Dash in the past and will continue to do so. Looking forward for the next meetup with you guys.
