61  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Convert BTC to GBP and transfer to UK Bank Acct on: May 08, 2015, 09:30:10 AM
Good news for you is that Coinbase has opened up a UK-based site: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/apr/29/bitcoin-coinbase-launches-in-uk

Quote
Coinbase, the American firm which has been called “the AOL of Bitcoin”, is to launch its services in the UK for the first time.

From Wednesday, British customers will be able to load up the company’s bitcoin wallets with pound sterling in addition to US dollars. Coinbase will also let financial traders speculate on the the price of bitcoin against pounds and euros on its exchange.

IF you didn't want to use them you could always just try on the Currency Exchange on the marketplace here. I'm sure there are plenty of people in the UK that will buy your coins for UK bank transfer.
62  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to Buy Bitcoins Completely Anonymous on: May 08, 2015, 09:18:17 AM
What if I buy an account on a site for tumbler/mixing services with bitcoins included?

I think this will avoid exposure of my real identity.

Why don't you just try buy from the Currency Exchange on the Marketplace here? There are plenty of ways you can send money to people without revealing your identity. You can buy things like moneypacks or similar and use them to send to sellers in exchange for coins (not entirely sure what verification moneypacks require but there are certain ways you can buy cash codes etc without revealing your identity to send to people so look into that).

Well that guy is selling one but it's apparently blocked. You can buy brand new phones shipped worldwide from coinsfortech http://coinsfortech.com/product-category/mobile-phones/apple-phones/
64  Economy / Goods / Re: iPhone 5s 32GB Brand new. Opened to check. on: May 08, 2015, 09:02:50 AM
Yeah, if it's barred then it wont magically get unlocked for no reason. All you currently have is an expensive paperweight. Maybe posts some pics of it though as you definitely wont get any interest without some time-stamped ones.
65  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never again be priced over $300. on: May 08, 2015, 08:59:33 AM
I find no entertainment value in owning or using Bitcoin, certainly not enough to account for any meaningful percentage of its value.

I am willing to pay towards the profit of a movie (its value to its creators exceeding its cost) because I find personal value in consuming it.

Apart from the (highly unlikely) "Bitcoin as a collectors item" thing, I don't see a realistic parallel in your argument...

Ben

Then why are you here? I really don't get people like you, you don't like something and you have unbeliavable need to tell it to everyoene...so? Nobody gives a shit what you think, bitcoin is about to take off sooner or later either you like it or not...It's always the same again and again...and again...buy now and have patience or be even more butthurted that you missed it...AGAIN...Good luck buying coin at 10 000 USD rate

They're called trolls and trying to stoke up responses is their goal. Just think about it, if you had little to no interest in bitcoin you wouldn't be here but they usually either do have bitcoin and like to troll or have none or lost it or their money so vent their frustrations this way. Best solution is to just ignore them but most people can't resists feeding them so they stick around until they get bored.
66  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Question on starting a new crypto exchange on: May 08, 2015, 08:46:50 AM
Curious about the US rules for a new crypto exchange. If the platform only enables exchanging of altcoins for bitcoin or other coins (i.e. no real currency is involved), is it still labeled a money transmitter, and you need to register with FINCEN or no?

You'll probably be ok for now but I'm sure they'll change the law at some point, but if you were going to set one up I wouldn't host it in the US just to be safe. I'm not sure why you would want to create another altcoin exchange though as there are plenty of ones around and its hard to attract new customers who trust you when they can just use existing ones.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this also be a legal loophole that BTC could use? on: May 08, 2015, 08:44:32 AM
I'm not sure what you are actually proposing here? Why would we need to use this loophole for bitcoin? It isn't illegal in the majority of places so I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting.

what about all those other coins popping up like shrooms everywhere? who are those people? litecoin i can understand like it's silver to gold. dogecoin haha love that dog ^^

but all the others who are they? payed by people in power to take your time away from the actual coin?
because the way i see it, the lesser time is given to something with value, the lesser value it is given over time. basic rule of giving something a value

No. They're just greedy capitalists and scammers trying to make as much money as they can by peddling crap to fools. 99.9% of alt coin devs create these crapcoins with one goal in mind and that is to make money. They create the coin, dump it and move on. The best way to deal with alts is to ignore them unless they actually offer something new and if people did that they would soon disappear.
70  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: May 08, 2015, 08:34:24 AM
Anyone can have multiple facebook accounts but creating facebook accounts needs much effort compared creating account here in forum so it is fewer for every user to have

I agree it's easier and quicker to create an account here as you don't need to verify via email but from what I remember its very easy to create a Facebook account and can be done in a couple of minutes. Setting up an email is the same so you could probably have a new email and facebook account within 5 minutes. Creating an account here takes 6 minutes before you can post and many giveaways have a minimum rank limit to stop people easily creating accounts so it's not always that easy.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone who's going to hear about bitcoin has heard about it on: May 08, 2015, 08:29:42 AM
I watched the first episode of the documentary series Pot Barons of Colorado yesterday about the cannabis industry there and it was interesting that banks were shutting down their business accounts and refusing to work with them and as such they were forced to keep millions of dollars in their store and carry dangerous amounts around to make business transactions. Bitcoin seems like it could be a real benefit to the cannabis industry if the laws don't change on a federal level which they are unlikely to do for quite some time. There's so many benefits to many industries and they just need to realize this but will they or how long will it take?
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: May 08, 2015, 08:22:32 AM
What do you mean by selling produt of bitcoin?

If you have a product then try sell it for bitcoins. Not that difficult to understand. People sell plenty of goods on the marketplace here though there are ebay style markets like cryptothrift where you can sell your items for coins.

But not all people gonna accepted bitcoin. In my country there are still people that wont buy it using bitcoin they prefer take fiat than bitcoin. I try to explain it but still they wont listen it and insist on taking fiat so thats the problem

What are you talking about? People only accept bitcoin on this forum and on cryptothrift, the places I explicitly mentioned. There are plenty of other sites where you can list your things for bitcoin too.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Must Be Seen for Money Laundering Potential, Finma Says on: May 08, 2015, 08:12:14 AM
they still think that bitcoin is anonymous, and they disregard the comparison with cash everytime, which is even more dangerous

they should ban cash first before even attempting to restrict bicoin, if they were really coherent whit what they want

It doesn't matter if cash is more anonymous that Bitcoin. It doesn't matter that all transactions are recorded on the blockchain, do their claims that BTC is a too for money laundering. It doesn't matter that only a small portion of BTC transactions for illicit purposes and more crimes are omitted with cash worldwide than the entire Market Cap of Bitcoin. What does matter is that the general public, governments, and the press believes that all this anti-Bitcoin propaganda is true. Bitcoin will never be truly successful until we can somehow get out from under this cloud that has been put over us.

You are right.
It seems that this money laundering accusation is very good excuse to convince people that bitcoin is something bad and that they should avoid it.
Banks and financial industry don't like bitcoin (BTC has the potential to take away their share of the profits of sending money between users), so I think that they are behind this negative propaganda about bitcoin.
It's really difficult question how to get out from such accusation.

But regardless of their motive or agenda and like it or not bitcoin is a great tool to aid in money laundering or other criminal activities. It's likely one of the only ways criminals who have been prohibited from owning a bank account can safely store and move their money around. The benefits of bitcoin work both ways really good and bad, but it is here to stay and law enforcement really need to evolve along with it to punish those who break the law in serious ways with it.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Connection: Marc Karpeles --> Silkroad on: May 08, 2015, 08:08:01 AM
I will try to put up my first theory:

- Marc Karpeles opens a US Dwolla account in the name of his company Mutum Sigillum, LLC./MtGox to help his long time friend Ross laundering the Bitcoins that were made with SilkRoad.

- HSI confiscates this Dwolla account with at least 2.9 Mio USD (maybe a lot more)
- Marc K. agrees in a deal with DEA to help to take down his friend Ross

Theory? Based on what? It seems like pure fantasy to me without some supporting evidence. If DPR was pals or even a business associate of Mark he would have mountains of evidence from chats/emails/messages etc and would have leaked them or provided them as supporting evidence to his accusations that Mark was the main DPR. I've yet to see any evidence at all that Karpales had any ties to SR's operation.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is trying to kill Bitcoin? on: May 07, 2015, 04:32:32 PM
Anybody who watches the evening news or glances at the newspaper must be aware of the negative image that Bitcoin has hovering above it. People believe that it's nothing more than a haven for criminal activity. It seems that governments, the press, and the general public all believe the volumes of anti-Bitcoin propaganda that is released on a daily basis.

My question is "Who is doing this?" Is it the governments because they want to control Bitcoin and have been unable to exercise full control yet? Is it the banks because they see Bitcoin as a viable threat their exclusive domain? Or are we, the Bitcoin users, simply shooting ourselves in the foot with enterprises like the Silk Road that are using Bitcoin for illicit purposes? What do you think?

People fear what they don't understand and sadly most people get their information from mainstream media which makes a business from fear-mongering and taking advantage of peoples ignorance so it's probably nothing more than that. I don't really think there's some grand conspiracy here and if there was we would likely see far more blatant propaganda.

77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could a cashless Denmark become a bitcoin hub? on: May 07, 2015, 12:35:13 PM
Doesn't really say anything about bitcoin, just 'alternative payment systems' from what I gather.

Quote
For instance, he said retailers spend a fair amount of resources on security guards and surveillance systems, as well as spending the time to make change for customers. Grocery stores, dentists, doctors, post offices, hospitals, and nursing homes are among the establishments that would be excluded from the proposed rule.

I don't think making change takes that long, and probably just the same as using a credit or debit card to be honest. People will still need security systems for thefts of over things aswell  but I guess it would eliminate cash robberies.

And why is everyone all of a sudden using the 'bitcoin hub' terminology?
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: May 07, 2015, 12:20:55 PM
Some people even farm accounts to sell on at a later date, but the market for them seems to be low at the moment so might not really be worth doing it as it takes 8 months I think to get a Senior account.
Even if it tooks 8 months to get a senior rank, you can sell it. Sell it to high price so that your 8 months will be worth it.

From what I've seen recently Senior accounts seem to be going for not much over 0.2, so it would seem hardly worth it to sell for so little, especially when you can make that back in a month on a pay per post or two months on a fixed rate campaign. Might as well just keep it and earn from it yourself. Wouldn't be worth farming them unless the market picks back up.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Connection: Marc Karpeles --> Silkroad on: May 07, 2015, 12:16:08 PM
I was already wondering about the connection between Marc Karpeles and Silk Road my another related topic here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=935434.msg11122821#msg11122821

It is interesting, that Marc's Dwolla account gets seized by the HSI and short time later Ross Ulbricht writes in his journal:

Quote
29/05/2013 - $2M was stolen from my mtgox account by DEA.

So Marc gets his money seized and Ross complaints about this beiing his money?Huh

How are a Dwolla and Silk Road account related?

Karpeles and Ulbricht were best of friends back at Harding.

Just like Carl Mark Force had his little techie stoolie Shaun Bridges, Ulbricht's techie stoolie would have been Karpeles. Because, apparently, wannabe kingpin Ulbricht wasn't good at tech stuff. Karpeles should be ashamed for selling out his buddy angel boy Ross Ulbricht.

Or Ulbricht should be ashamed about trying to sell out Karpeles by trying to pass all the blame onto him at his trial. Ross was obviously the main guy here and you seem to be making a lot of assumptions based on little to no evidence.

I have a premium Full member account. It will turn senior soon. Current price 0.32

Please tell me what is "Premium Full Member" ? I never heard about it. Thanks !

It's a good quality account, it was once green.

Well if it isn't anymore then this doesn't really mean much. I think the 'premium' of the account likely depends on quality of posts and if it's been previously banned or not.
