61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOXT] - NobleNXT Proposal/Whitepaper - Noble's 1st Colored Coin on: December 09, 2014, 07:48:08 PM
Just confirming I've said hello on the NXT forums! I will need 10 posts for the NOXT ANN to work.

Nice!

A few things.

1. I think we need a glossary of abbreviations as with this integration it seems more and more are popping up suck as "AE" a link in the OP would be helpful.

2. Yes keeping a 1 page summary of the project plan is a great Idea. I for one do not and assume many others don't have the time to read an encyclopedia to keep track of one coin no matter how promising it is. I am spending far to much time just trying to get my head around cryptonote coins and really cannot spend that kind of time on NXT and it's assets (piggybacking?| I'm still not sure what the term is LOL sidechaining?).

This is a good start and definitely something that should be kept up to date and posted in the op.

Those are some decent ideas.

Let's bear in mind we all need to do our own research in doing serious investments Smiley

63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Insignificance of Altcoins? Potential? Mass adoption? Really? on: December 08, 2014, 06:44:49 PM
It all depends on the approach the developer is taking to tackle the issue. I personally think NOXT with its public developer is going to be making inroads in a proper direction in that regard.

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptos that Actually Hold Value on: December 06, 2014, 04:50:28 PM
I think we need to focus on the quality of the dev and his plans, specifically on his past actions and whether he was honest about his goals and ideas instead of giving way to every pump and dump in the scene.

In that regard, I think no one is better to qualify for the trust of the community and potential to do something real than Rofo, AKA Jason Curby who is the developer of Noblecoin and NobleNXT, currently both active here in the forums.

67  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mark Zuckerberg investing $100 million in Bitcoin on: December 06, 2014, 02:30:43 AM
I heard a RUMOR from a friend of a friend who knows Zuckerberg personally that the Facebook guru is planning to pump $100million into Bitcoin

True or not, I don't know - but my friend is hardly a flake.  I wonder what a Zuckerberg entry into the Bitcoin market would do to the price?

I imagine much more have been planned for crypto.

If im not to old with arthritis, Ill buy it back, if/when POS ever happends. Guys , heres the truth , It takes a MAX of two week at the most to add pos. Weve been waiting .. what 6 months!?!? Yes, I know the dev is not capable on his own.. fine. There are HUNDREDS of devs out there he can hire.

Many devs have made such commitments, but as you can see, they all backed out or dragged out than gave the bad news later. I would not blame rofo and I am sure he is well aware how frustrating it is - since it is his project.

If you know anyone who is reliable and dependable, feel free to suggest them to rofo and I am sure he would be happy to talk to them.

Im out. Been waiting for POS for MONTHS now. By the time ppl figure out there will be no POS, the price will be in the toilet. Just sold my 1/2 millions shares. Dev has had LOADS of time to get POS in place.

Just when things are getting exciting? Highly suggest you buy in a bit.

https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_noxt

[..]
We are also on Poloniex, but I committed to getting more info. out (including accountability) first before kicking off the full crowd fund so that will come. Ill put some up though beforehand.

Edit: If people get cold feet and want out don't sell to lowballers - PM me and I'll take the coins back at rate - I won't be unloading any under the rate asked.

So what anybody can explain whats going on?

In general or with NOXT?!

Noble was already listed in polo, now they listed noxt for the ico Smiley

Are we able to exchange NOBL for Noxt yet? Or does this not come until after the 21 day buyin period?
Also, will you be burning the noble that people turn over all at once at the end or a little at a time as it comes in?

At the end of the ico process, the noble burning process will begin.
In the future we will have noble/noxt paired in some exchange I guess (it is unpreventable those 2 are close linked)

You can read about the noble/noxt burning rates in here:
https://www.noblemovement.com/noxt/2-Distribution-v7.pdf
(It was updated yesterday)

Right any recommendation for a NOBL holder? When does stake begin? Should I get some NOXT?

Would recommend you spend some nobl to buy noxt along with btc.

NOXT is more business oriented as far as I can tell - must be good profit wise if you want to invest.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOXT] - NobleNXT Proposal/Whitepaper - Noble's 1st Colored Coin on: December 04, 2014, 03:26:55 PM
Latest

- Reaching 40 BTC worth sold
- Just added to Poloniex (10% added for earlybirds - will add more with new paper sections)
- 5th highest weekly vol. NXT AE
- Misc. updates to sections
- Distribution exchange rate revised slightly upwards to aim at burning 1bil NOBL (also reflecting price/amount mined over last 4-5 months)
- Thought Leadership draft added
- Finalizing Utility
- Received 2nd-hand dealers/bullion license application (to be published)
- I will be working personally with a professional technical writer in Canberra so that this paper reads and can be presented better to interested parties next year - please consider it a draft but feel free to send corrections my way.

Excellent.

For all those who are watching, the bullion licenses are certainly NOT cheap - and rofo's usage of ico funds for such purpose is I am sure first of many real, proper usage of ico funds to come. A very welcome, honest change from all other 'ipos' who never even bothered to reveal their full 'plans'.

Reading up on new sections.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Pre-ANN][NOXT] - NobleNXT Proposal/Whitepaper - Noble's 1st Colored Coin on: December 03, 2014, 06:00:02 AM
Just want to wave to y'all from the Nxt side and congratulate you on your project Smiley

Looking forward to seeing all your plans bear fruit!

Thanks Damelon, I'm a little humbled by the support shown from the NXT community. I am planning to present all the info. (once complete) on the NXT forums and hoping to work closer in the future! Just did not expect it to move this fast.

A few notes:

- I placed the NOXT on the AE for those interested in using NXT while we waited
- More than half will still be available for BTC on Polo. once I hear back (only 10% have been placed on AE and I honestly did not expect the first nor second to be gobbled up so quickly) - I can be reached via PM in the meantime if you want to discuss
- Looking for this to run approximately 3 weeks
- I will be publishing registrations earlier (moving forward on roadmap plans sooner) than expected due to the support shown so early (went into town and got a number printed today)
- The overall price for crowd funded coins will not be changed from 0.00042
- If I haven't responded to PM yet I will within the next few hours (Aussie timezone adds delay plus the amount to respond to)

I apologise for continuously saying 'today' for more sections (Thought Leadership & Utility are coming next) - I keep getting a lot of PMs to work through but we still have 3 weeks of crowd fund/info/discussion to go.

No worries, take your time. I am just surprised that a paper this in depth and this big (over 75 pages if I recall, may have gotten even bigger now) can be done in such a short time.

From the looks of it all, NOXT will be selling like hot cakes once the btc and nobl portions come around. I wonder if there will be enough to go around for everyone Smiley
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: December 03, 2014, 05:58:19 AM
We will soon be releasing a non-mandatory wallet update (1.1.0.3) with the following:

- Fix .pro qt files and builds
- Fixed the windows thread problem (this is what caused the previous windows builds issues)
- Cleanup dead files
- Updated codebase to qt5 compatible
- Made new windows 32 bit client all-in-one (static) one file/one click update
(this has all up to date libs including SSL J,. etc)

I hope this acts as a hint for coming resolution of our developer/PoS troubles this year, and is just the beginning. Smiley

Sounds like a great start Smiley

Already the nxt portions are being bought up! Amazing. Just wait until btc and nobl portions come up.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentrally mined currency has failed and can't possibly be rescued on: November 29, 2014, 11:29:45 AM
I identified in April that the powers-that-be (Peter Thiel et al) were taking over Bitcoin. Since then it is become more noticeable with Paypal and soon eBay adopting Bitcoin.

Bitcoin mining and everything else about it can be highly regulated because none of it anonymous. Even recent research found that 81% of Tor users can be unmasked, as I had long warned was the case. Regulation means any decentralization is just for show and doesn't have any practical protective effect. Some have argued about inability to get consistent regulation across all jurisdictions, and even one country that took a free market stance would provide hope. Any one who believes that, isn't studying the reality of what is happening in the world with G20 pledging cooperation[2], etc.

I have thought deeply (I was AnonyMint) about the possible designs for decentralized consensus, as well the various strategies for anonymity that are plausible.

It is impossible there can be all 3 of true anonymity, fast enough transactions, and truly decentralized mining consensus. I could explain in depth, but I'd rather challenge anyone who thinks they are technically capable, to explain a design that makes it possible. Because over the past year, I've run every possible design through my mind, studied everything I could find from others, and have finally come to this conclusion.

Note I didn't say there couldn't be decentralized adoption, use, or even decentralized mining shares. But the mining pools will be centralized and thus regulated (unless they are anonymous). Note I didn't say there couldn't be anonymity nor fast transactions, but decentralized pools would have to be forsaken (and they don't really exist now, it is just for show).

It might be possible to get anonymity and decentralized mining pools, but this certainly wouldn't be able to support fast transactions nor would it be resistant to a Sybil attack on the number of mining pools.

Some of have argued that there is P2Pool, but how many times do I have to repeat that P2Pool can't be impervious to a share withholding attack[1], thus it can't be a sustainable paradigm.

Conclusion: Bitcoin is not a savior. As I had warned in my first essay on this forum, Bitcoin: The Digital Kill Switch, Bitcoin is part of the push towards electronic money that will be used to control all of us[2].

I have come full circle. The situation is quite hopeless (note I didn't say Bitcoin won't appreciate in value, although I still expect a bottom below or near $200 first), rather I mean hopeless in terms of the idealism of protecting our monetary future. Maybe it is time for me to leave cryptocurrency and go back to writing software applications.

Satoshi's invention of decentralized consensus is useless from a practical standpoint at least for money and sent us on a wild goose chase where we end up with nothing in the end. Sad but true. Cry

DOOM

In all seriousness, saying bitcoin or crypto is a savior was the same as saying you are anonymous and 'free' on the internet.

Both false.

Rofo, the donation wallet is not a fresh wallet right?

No it's my hot, going to moving to a few separate cold I'll post once we get started.

A few questions & answers based on the most common I missed in IRC.

When does the crowd funding start?
You could consider it starting now if you're interested in chipping in. The colored coin itself is ready on the NXT platform/decentralized exchange. Otherwise, I hope Polo. adds NOXT next week.

Where will it be?
For a traditional exchange I've emailed and PM'd Poloniex re-confirming a request for addition next week. If crowd funding goals are met, I will be sure to pay to get NOXT on BTER also as they also strongly support NXT 'assets'.

I'm interested in entering now?
Feel free to PM me.

The numbers have been slightly revised upwards to burn close to 1 billion NOBL.

Awesome! Thank you for the updates as always.

People should start going in for investments and crowdfunding if they are interested. I am guessing what's there would not be enough.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: November 29, 2014, 07:16:13 AM
For those who are not aware, #noblecoin channel on freenode is the public irc channel for this project.

Yup, lots of tips at the moment Smiley

On another matter, Cryptonit, any news on how the PoS code is getting on?

doesnt look good at the moment
cant give any ETA
it will be a big delay or we need to withdraw from the deal because we cant deliver in time

make no sence to sweettalk a bitter situation....  Undecided

OK well we will discuss in private and we're going straight to working with someone who can do a wallet swap with us ASAP on Bittrex and be paid to maintain PoS code. I can't afford to wait any longer after so many PoS guys stepping in and stepping out.

Shame. But it will all come to fruition one way or another.

I admire your dedication Rofo. You deserve some succes and I think you will be able to put the funds from the ico to good use!

Exactly.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: November 25, 2014, 02:05:00 AM
Any thoughts about the noxt burning process? hold? burn? sell? I haven't see anyone talking about it, please share your tactic with us Smiley

If the ico will go as planned (210 btc ico is not much, we have seen few 3000btc ico already Smiley ) 3 things will happen:

1) Burning nobles into noxt will be a very good move since (if) 210 btc were raised and now rofo has something to work with (beside awesome plan and dedication).

2) Noble price will go higher since more people will want to burn. (I will use the btc received to invest directly in noxt in this case)

3) More nobles are burnt - each noble is now worth much more. (those will be used for the next colored coins cycle with much less nobles in circle)

1 say burn.
2 say sell.
3 say hold.

all correct.

what do we do? Tongue

All of the above? Smiley

Nomination Thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855130.msg9604806#msg9604806

Great news! Their's no dev more deserving! =)

It also says a lot about our community; even though we're approaching (or just past? will need to look this up) our first anniversary, we still have an active enough scene to achieve community driven goals! Not many coins this old can claim this. Just look at how few names are up their! The thread has over 12K views, and only 14 names have gotten enough votes!

I'll keep lookin for other ways to get Noble's name out their!

A brief reminder, this was the nomination, not the actual voting for the honor.

Let's start up our community and support rofo as soon as it begins!
