61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: March 11, 2014, 02:51:25 AM
Anyone tried to flash the firmware of the miners? I've read the manual from LA but it looks like something I wouldn't want to just "try" for fun Smiley

So far I can't find out which firmware is on the gridseeds anyway so can't see if I can upgrade anything.

I'd be willing to give the firmware flash a go. Gota link? I've looked everywhere and have not been able to find any info on a firmware update for these things.

http://www.diffpair.com/lightningasic/

Which is the link that LA provided with the firmware stuff. Got it from this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=477709.0

(and here confirmed that it's from LA: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421921.0)

I tried to flash the firmware on my gridseeds but couldn't get it to install the included driver.  I had to take the heatsink off so that I can get to what I assume is the same "white" button the documentation refers to.  It then proceeds to show up as an unknown usb device under windows but I can't go any further than this.

EDIT: I only say this because of the following:

Has anyone been able to update the firmware on these units?  Lightningasics has an update to the firmware that supposedly makes them more stable. Just trying to decide which to buy.

can i mine nvc or any other scrypt coin besides LTC?

Any scrypt based coin will work.

Get purchasing! As soon as I hit 100 units I will buy the other 100 to push this group buy along alot faster.
Just a quick update on this I have a few users who are buying large bulk quantities which will surpass the minimum order for these puppies. I will get the site fixed ASAP and order will more then likely be submitted by monday.

The first post shows 120/200. Is the order being placed today (Monday, March 10)?

BTW: How many unites to be considered "bulk".

100+ units is what I would consider a bulk purchase the orders going to be placed between tues-wed unless gridseed replies back within less then 24 hours.

Can you send me a quote for 20,30,50,100, and 150 units please. Thank you!
65  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [INSTOCK in California] Selling Gridseed Asics. Ship from California. [$235] on: March 10, 2014, 08:51:31 PM
ordered 60 units. knew i wasnt going to get power supplies but i got no barrel plugs at all.

I am pretty annoyed right about now. I already ordered them off amazon seeing as i refuse to wait for new barrel plugs to get shipped from china.
(My order got shipped from china not california...)

I had to spend 120$ for 60 barrel plug cords also i cant mine with them in the mean time. I hope zoomhash will rectify the situation to the best of his ability.

PS: this morning i wake up to my phone ringing at about 8 am cause fedex is calling trying to figure out my address due to the fact they were only given a partial by the shipper...

Overall disappointed in the results of the chinese factory. Seems like they could put in a little more effort.

I can tell you that Zoom has been SUPER quick to rectify issues I've had with items missing from shipping (oddly enough all from China too, hmm).

60 will make a nice little farm. You going to run them in single or dual mode? I just got done taking 12 off of a controller and putting them on a Win7 box. LTC only, no fans... Cool and quiet. Smiley

Gonna have 80 total. Running LTC only. I would run dual mode for the next difficulty adjustment but i just dont have the power i need for that.

I was a little angry before. I know zoom will make right by it.

I also know its on the factory in china and not on him personally.(sorry if i made it seem that way)

60 of 80. Only 35 running cause i only had 15 spare barrel plugs and 20 from my last set.

Can you post more details about your setup? What hubs are you using, how much hash are you averaging per device, and what you are using as an controller.
Thank you!

Has anyone successfully updated the firmware on the gridseed devices?

How would one do that? I got the red devices with a physical flash firmware button thing.

The gridseed unit also has a button but you have to take the heatsink off to get to it. When pressed while plugging in the USB it registers as an unknown USB device.

Everything has been going great. Clocked the units to 900 and now my pool is showing a lot different speed than cgminer.

Pool is only showing 5.2 MH/s. I guess just put them back to 850?

man you got a crap ton of hardware errors.... I have like 2 or 3 errors in the past 3 days on my RPi running 20 units

Danny

what usb hubs are you using?

I am using those 60 dollar anker hubs... Might be the reason

Could you link or PM me the exact model number?

I can't right now. Its title 50 gridseed setup or similar. He lists it in the thread.

Another user was running 48 units with those hubs with no problems...

Zoomhash is there any firmware updates for these? Seems weird to have 2 that run so differently.

Same clock? I'm in a similar situation and kinda wonder what to do or if I should blame cgminer. Lol

Not cgminer... its the ASIC itself... not hardware wise either... i believe it to be firmware related. I get the same thing at 900... high hashrate locally... shit at the pool... you can watch share speed to see it is WAY slower to find shares compared to 850... that is not a hardware issue at all... that is flimsy firmware that needs to be updated.

Have any of you guys updated the firmware? Idk if an update is even out. Also my unit that is having issues has a more uneven heatsink then the other. Might be an issue as well.

and now they just all went offline. BTC and LTC and wont restart.

f***  Angry

If you are using cgminer you might have to restart the comp.

Using the controller that came with the miners.

Sorry, can't help you with that one. I suggest getting a hub and just running them off a comp. Seems the controllers are the source for most the problems currently.

My unit that arrived today runs well but seems to be getting about 23hw per 14hr. The other unit works fine. Any suggestions? I run them both on cgmine with 850mhz.

Hey what accessories did you receive with your gridseed?
THX

Just the gridseed and a USB cable.

ok, Thx, I saw the 360w hobby psu on amazon. But, can I use a molex from a standard PSU, and tie it into a 2.1 5.5mm male plug adapter? just trying to figure out how to power up. Like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058RLD9C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1THAZDOWP300U

As long as you use the 12v rails a computer PSU will work.

I think cgminer has a display error with the HW.  Seems to me that on my 2 seed setup only 1 card gets HW even though they are on the same speeds and power supply. I can't think of another reason. Cgminer might be displaying pool disconnects as HW because I am on a multicoin pool. I remember that on my GPU rigs it would sometimes mix the temps up.

I'm using that cheapie 360w hobby PSU from amazon. Hash is 360 according to cgminer.
