Good to see you here!

Same way you found this board I guess you must have seen some pinned threads which are the essential threads that you have to read to know your ways around the forum. I will help to drop some few links that you will need in here.

I don't know your level of knowledge about bitcoin but if you want to know more about the basics in bitcoin you can visit this website site Learnmeabitcoin.com[1] its website that entails all essentials of bitcoin including technical knowledge.

You can also visit this thread for the forum rules Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

Here is a basic thread that you need to read before posting Newbies - Read before posting

63  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a Bitcoin Nodes; My curiosity on: May 20, 2024, 05:56:33 PM
I've read a lot about the Bitcoin nodes and about running one myself but it's nearly impossible to download almost 500 GB of the entire Blockchain with the speed of the Internet I'm currently using.
Except you want to run a full node then downloading the whole Block shouldn't be your problem. You can run a pruned nodes to reduce the total storage which the block will occupy in your disk space, The current Blockchain size is around 651.13 GB [1] so it's even above your 500 GB space.

my curiosity is what would happen to Bitcoin if these 75k node operators decided to shut down. I know I'm thinking too much but nothing is impossible, right? I mean these are operated by humans.
Additionally, It's practically impossible to see all bitcoin nodes shut down. For something if this nature to occur then all network or internet has to be down generally before we can experience all nodes down which in an obvious sense isn't possible for now at least.

Basically what we are talking about is around 75,000 active nodes running, so if your node is down someone else node is still running that's how it works.

64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC never for sale? on: May 20, 2024, 03:08:59 PM
Never sell BTC Recently read a lot of blog forums I found a lot of enthusiasts are discussing never sell BTC on this topic I can only remain a certain doubt although BTC is currently high price has its corresponding value

But why do people say never buy?
Your questions shows you are obviously new to bitcoin and not just in the forum.

Alot of bitcoin enthusiasts uses the word never sell bitcoin because of the obvious love for bitcoin, if you have know bitcoin for years now or read more about it you would find out that people who held bitcoin from the onset has never for once regretted their actions and are still hodling till date yet bitcoin continues to appreciate in price. If you hold an assets and it doesn't fall you and you know it has a very long life spam that you might not meet the end would you ever sell such an asset? Of course No!

So see bitcoin lovers like me say never to sell bitcoin you should be celebrating such at because it took people a lot to hodl their bitcoins up till now, even with issues like Ban, Bear market, FUDs and SEC regulations yet they made it out to hodl till date they are worthy of celebration buddy! You can visit the Bitcoin Wall Observer thread and see how some forum member have been holding and the word never does seize from them because they understand what bitcoin is and values it.

I think this is because the number of btc has something to do with the fact that we all know that it was issued a total of 210 million and now there are very few of them that have been mined. This is not a hole in the sky and the last halving in 2028, maybe btc has been fully excavated
Firstly, bitcoin is 21 million limited and not 210 million[1]

I don't know where you got all this information but bitcoin will be fully mined in the year 2140[2], So bitcoin last halving is not going to be in 2028. Additionally, over 19.5 million bitcoin has been mined, we have less than 1.5 million bitcoins to be created because of some lost coins and the rest issues that resulted to less than 1.5 million remaining [3]

Based on the current value of btc, it does have a certain amount of collectible value and will be even more valuable when it is fully mined
This is probably why people say they will never sell BTC

But where is the value of BTC in the absence of trading?
Bitcoin is not just an asset. It's an alternative means of payment but it's volatile nature has made it an opportunity for people to make profit from it. The whole scenario of bitcoin price increasing day after day, year after years has made it become a store of value which is another reason why people prefer to hold bitcoin forever than hold a fiat currency that deprecates in value as time goes on.

So what you are saying in essence is with bitcoin being traded it doesn't have any value? Then you still have more readings to do mate.

If you have 10 gold bars and you don't sell them in your lifetime and you exchange them for the things you need to live on and you pass them on to the next generation that's an inheritance of culture rather than a manifestation of value

We can understand and learn the culture of BTC and even develop it again. However, as a virtual currency, BTC is valuable and meaningful only when it begins to circulate, rather than being placed in the home like an old antique for future generations to admire

It's only valuable if it's in circulation. Isn't that what you have in your BTC?
For over years now, even as a newbie in this forum and crypto space, I have read several articles and seen videos of where bitcoin is used every day as a means of payments which is one of its reasons for been created.

So bitcoin is every day in circulation, if it's not in circulation then there will be no market cap for it. There is a thread by @JayJuangee where he teaches a sustainable withdrawal method for bitcoin investment, the contest of his thread is for hodlers who are never going to sell their bitcoin in the nearest years but rather take profit for vacation and the rest of enjoyment you can think of [4].

65  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Read Well and also think we'll before you respond to post. on: May 20, 2024, 02:07:53 PM
~snip~
Obviously OP you have a good point but your post lacks quality from my perspective but maybe not in others perception. It's not well constructed but it's surely passing an information.

Sometimes I don't blame people for making off topics post in a thread but at the same time everyone is entitled to his or her responsibilities which means you have to read before you make a post.

Reason why I don't blame some people for off-topic post is because some people don't follow the etiquettes of the forum for creating a thread, they just type what's in their head and click post without proper reviews to ensure if it is making any sense or follow the forum standards or not.

Include enough info in the title so that readers can mostly guess what your topic is about. Try to condense your topic's main idea into a few sentences. Ideally, people should be able to write useful, on-topic replies by just reading the title (though this sometimes isn't possible).
From the above quote especially the bolded part, one should be able to write on-topic post or response just be reading the title of a thread, so where people begin to write off-topic in a thread is when the topic says some thing else and the content says another then it will have to require someone to read deeply to write an on-topic post.

For people especially newbies who will want to read more on the above you can visit this thread Make your topic title, posts more attractive by @tranthidung or click on the quote to read the complete post by @theymos

Regarding the second paragraph of OP's post, some times I see paraphrased sentence in a post though I'm not excluded to it but almost everyone is included in this part but sometimes it's necessary to add at least a line or two to a post as long as you know what you're saying even though someone might have said similar thing but with your own point it could be elaborated.
Let's say @LoyceV doesn't like writing too much on a post he prefers hitting the point straight and he already responded to a thread and I'm interested in it, I can elaborate his point as long as we are saying the same thing hence I don't consider it repetition words because it brings out the real ideal of a short sentence.

We have different perspectives of things but I guess this is mine.
66  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price predictions gone silence since the DIP. on: May 20, 2024, 11:36:12 AM
Or maybe some are enjoying the profit they made when bitcoin broke it's ATH. Or maybe the market is boring to an extent that people just want to relax and enjoy what they planted long time ago
Market is definitely getting boring but even during a boring period where price only goes sideways we continue seeing speculation because this period is usually the launching step for the next bull run. And remember we are in the post-halving time where the fresh supply being sold has been reduced by 50% and that has to have a significant effect on the supply and demand balance leading to a rise.
Your assessment is correct!
The significant effect that has cost the market to be boring at this time shows the validity of the law of supply which says the lower supply the high the quantity demanded, the reduction in block reward by 50% is quite effective in the market but we can not also forget that the boringness of the market can also be as a result of market sentiment where investors awaits the effect of reduced block supply hence speculation in this forum and outside has reduced from the observation of Op

We can also consider this boringness during post-halving period to be a result of historical trends since we (investors) have some experience of halving effect in the price of bitcoin, BTC price could be less speculated because of past trends expectations and sentiments.
67  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Life of Bitcoin Enthusiast on: May 19, 2024, 11:27:24 PM
What I can read from the imagine above is the same thing that happens in real life whether in the bitcoin/ crypto journey or in our normal life journey for success, no matter what you go through people do not really understand but all they want is to see the result either good or bad but the process it took to become successful is what they wouldn't know about.

It's same with bitcoin journey what ever you achieve with your bitcoin investment it's seen as luck but deep down behind the scene you went through alot just as the imagine shows; Ban, bear market, FUDs and SEC issues , exactly the way we are battling national regulations towards crypto related transactions etc when you finally achieve your goals it then seems simple to those who are not aware of how you got the goals but only saw the success.

It's not easy to make it in life generally, it's not also easy in life to build a solid portfolio in bitcoin and every other cryptocurrency currency as you will have to battle a lot but as long as your are not quitting then you're surely going to succeed. Take responsibility of your coins and remember "Not your keys, Not your coins" in order to remain safe be guide with your assets and keep investing as long as you have the capacity to buy. Hence at the very end you will remain profitable.
68  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Do Airdrop tel buy bitcon on: May 19, 2024, 11:10:55 PM
On a personal level I don't do much of Airdrops but with the result I have witnessed people proclaim how much they made from the Not coin farming, it shows a bit of concerns to me because definitely shits are going to be popping up frequently with the same strategy that Notcoin used to attract it's users which is taping or doing some task to earn the Notcoin.

I've been seeing some few people trying to farm other coins that are using the same strategy but I don't know how well it will turn out but definitely most are going to be scams that will never get listed anywhere but as Nigerians who are opportunistic in nature you have to try whether it profits you or not but at least you won't be missing out the fun while it last. There is a proverb that says "Get mad when your mates are mad but don't start when they are stopping because you would be considered the real mad person" if you can read meaning to it then you would understand what I'm saying in essence.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shops now accept BTC on: May 19, 2024, 10:57:02 AM
It just get to know that some shops now accept BTC as exchange, that is very good Bitcoin is making progress, after some years now Bitcoin will shock the world, with the way things are going now.
bitcoin has gone beyond being accepted as means of payments in shops to different levels.

Have you heard of bitcoin ATMs ? I guess No! You have to read https://www.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-atm/

I don't know what country you're from but in my country Nigeria, I have seen a lot of threads that shows that bitcoin is accepted as means of payments in different high firms in the country and other local shops. I can attest to it that I have seen a furniture shop that accepts bitcoin in my city.

So you will have to find out how far bitcoin has gone, sooner buddy! Before it has a big community like this forum you should know it's not kidding right?
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are more people getting excited about memecoins? on: May 19, 2024, 10:33:03 AM
People always seem drawn to meme coins. There are so many with quirky names like Pepe, Bonk, and Meme. In 2023, a bunch of these coins hit the market and made lots of folks rich. Then in 2024, it happened again with coins like WIF, BOME, and SLRF. Now, everyone's talking about Simsol. People love meme coins because they can make you rich quick. It's kind of wild how much excitement they bring to the market. But, it's important to remember they're risky too. What's your opinion about this?

Web: https://simsol.fun/
A lot of people are fascinated by this meme coins because they believe it has the opportunity to turn their little capitals into millions in just a few weeks or days of investing in them meanwhile sometimes it end up being a scam because most of the meme coins that are being organized these days are pump and dumb shits that are just here for the meantime and after a while they will disappear from the market.

I see a lot of promotions these days about meme coins but I'm absolutely not interested in them instead I use my little earnings to invest more on bitcoin than altcoins that are more shitty than shits (memecoins).
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How it is possible to get MC in millions ? on: May 19, 2024, 10:28:42 AM
i have been looking into the dextools and dexscreener the meme projects of solana mostly tokens just launched and within 1 2 hour they gained more than a million dollar market cap and when i check their socials they are dead not a single active post their but still manage to engage audience and reach Million dollar MC how i can't figure it out same now i found a https://simsol.fun/ project a meme one but this time their socials are quite active and but still no as such marketing but i am getting vibes it gonna make million for sure what you think ?

It's your own perception about the project but for me I'm not a memecoiner so I wouldn't be too intense to make an investment into any meme project because they have a social media community that is active for aaby reason. I would rather opt for bitcoin and increase my stash where I'm certain that profit will be guaranteed at the end of every bull run.

My major problem with this memecoins is the fact that they are launched by scammers most of the times just to get some attention and then they did appear from the space.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bull in Altcoins Sector on: May 19, 2024, 10:22:01 AM
Bitcoin ETFs approval makes itself expensive along with rest altcoins. As altcoins follows Bitcoin movement, that's why a massive growth have been seen in altcoins industry. Top altcoins are become so expensive. But others altcoins are Still underrated. Maybe they are waiting for pure bull run in altcoins sector. After that, they might be touch new record again. And top altcoins will be more and more expensive then now.
Of course altcoins depend on Bitcoin for price increment during the Bull run of Bitcoin but in the past price movement that we just seen some altcoins resistance to increase is an obvious sing that we are not yet into the full bull run but at this point, we are expecting the altcoins that couldn't flow with bitcoin price movement to follow the trend  from now till the end of 2025.

But one thing I am sure of is that the altcoin market is timeless so we do not know when exactly it will appear but for sure we will surely meet a price movement that we push most of the altcoins to a new all time high.

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what things can do if i hodle for long time crypto on: May 19, 2024, 10:03:22 AM

what are methods you used to forget the market conditions and keep hodl?

In my story , i always log to twitter and see what is happing , see coinmarketcap always, see youtube videos related to crypto. so this makes me sometimes panic , fear.

please update what things you do
Obviously you are not clear with your point yeah so if you are holding an altcoin and you see updates on Twitter and the rest of the social media and that shows decline in the price movement and you begin to fear then what you need to do is do more research more concerning that particular coin, search for groups where holders of the same coin communicate or share idea.

Then you will find updates on what and what not to do at the moment because currently, here we do not know what situation you are in or what coin you are talking about but if it is something like Bitcoin which you obviously stated you are in for a long time hence I will advise you keep Holding but if it is an altcoin which I am not certain about it volatility then I would suggest you make more research concerning that particular coin in order not to loss everything.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Swap crypto or sell first then buy? on: May 19, 2024, 09:55:04 AM
If you really want to immediately own your target coin, then exchanging it directly is the best thing. However, if you feel that the price of the coin you currently own will fall, and still want to wait for your target coin to have a suitable price, then exchanging it for USDT first is a good option. However, it all depends on you. If it is at the same time, then both are the same thing, but it would be better if you swap directly.
I think I also have the same initiative here but I would rather OP hold the current coin as long as it is not failing yet but if op thinks the coin is holding currently is about to fall then swapping directly would be the best advice but if the otherwise then he should split the coin swap the other part of the coin then still hold the coin because one does not know what way the market goes.

It might end up going high after op decide to swap or sell which will end up in regret so I suggest op still holds the coin in the meantime swap the rest for the new project which he thinks is better or wil do higher. As long as profit is what we aim at then op should do the best he can just to maximize profit.
75  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding cryptocurrency on: May 19, 2024, 09:05:12 AM

edit; after going through your post history, you should visit threads after making them and join the conversations and do more reading than creating low quality threads.

- Jay -
Honestly is the best policy, this the only honest response I have seen here. Obviously op isn't making any much sense in his posts but we ignore that and head straight to making a response without trying to put the person in order but I see your have sane zeal with me I guess I will maintain my stand because I'm not allowed here.

Btw, to you OP you must have to take at least the advise above to increase your post quality.

For every beginner or newbie as you and I because I'm also a beginner but with a difference of forum rank but by knowledge a beginner it's most important to keep in touch with people who are grounded with the basic knowledge which is required for your success in any area one chose to go. Here in the crypto space one must at all times be willing to learn from every one and contribute their own part of experience in order to show learning.

Learning or acquisition of knowledge is the fundamental in the crypto space that one must acquire before venturing into investment of any kind or in the process of learning you can be investing or doing that which you profits from (trading).
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Memecoin Gambling verses Normal Gambling - which is more profitable? on: May 19, 2024, 08:48:10 AM

2. Assume you are not into any of the above, which would you prefer to get into if you are asked to choose one? And also explain why..

Although, I gamble but not frequently because I feel like I'm going to get used to it easily because I once tried and saw how vulnerable I was to it then I took a break.

I would choose gambling on casinos or sport betting than gambling with meme coins. Although gambling is gambling it's all luck but I like to make my actions concrete and precise so I would choose gambling on sport not memecoins.
As long as I'm not a memecoiner and I don't understand memecoins I wouldn't wager on what I don't know or understand how it works. Memecoin has a complex system that one has to be strategic but when comes to gambling on casinos I just chose a football match stake what I can afford to lose and I'm done compared to memecoins you will have to connect one wallet to another, different kind of things before you can act on it but in normal gambling those stress are minimal.
77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake curse strikes again, rapper loses on Fury, Usyk bet on: May 19, 2024, 08:14:51 AM
I'm beginning to think what exactly is Drake doing because this isn't an obvious gamblers behaviour because of he wants to maximise wins he would bet on both sides if this losses then the other wins but he doesn't engage in such gamble rather he only focuses on his favourite people.

Another thing I'm not sure s if we are getting the real gist of his actions or gambles because this nigga could be winning straight but that doesn't occur to us but only his loses are shared for we to talk about, maybe he has won many times with the same strategy but only this days he has been unlucky.
78  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seeing is no longer believing on: May 19, 2024, 08:00:06 AM
This isn't my first time of hearing about this deepfake tools used to scam people but at some point this people are so naive to fall victim of this scams at least no matter how real a project seems for a good amount like $18k which the victim lost, he should at least involve more than one person to help out on the project at one of two would have suspected and faults would have been found oj thr process but because he or she was convinced of the selfish profit he fall for the scam.

One thing is certain scammers are not dumb they are part of the smartest people in the world but chose to use it in a negative way. So as you said we all have to be on guide, updating each other on what ever is happening around the space not to fall victim of any scam because it hurts to loss ones hard earn money.
79  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 19, 2024, 07:29:08 AM
It going to be an interesting football in the English premier league today the title is still undecided the ability of Manchester City playing draw against Westham United gives Arsenal the title if only Arsenal can be able to win Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
Football game is unpredictable I don't still think Manchester City and pep Guardiola will want to gamble todays match. But lets wait and see what will really happen at the end of today's game.
I'm a fan of Manchester city but aside that can't you see from the look of things that Manchester city are going to win Westham, I can't imagine man-city playing draw game with Westham because statistically Manchester city beats them in every part and for some reason that they emerged to play with Manchester city at this point doesn't me ean they can draw the match. Although I'm a big fan of Manchester city but I want Arsenal to win this time because I think it will seem unfair if Manchester city keeps bagging the English premier League. And for sure Arsenal stands a big chance of winning if they can put Everton away with at least two goals winning.

Personally I don't think there is any chance of Manchester City losing or drawing against West Ham. Manchester City is a strong team. Moreover, this team is in very good form now. This team is able to win consistently. On the other hand, West Ham's performance is very erratic. Although West Ham won the last match against Luton Town, the team lost 5-0 against Chelsea in the previous match. West Ham's defense is also very weak. This is why the team's performance is erratic.

Manchester City's performance against West Ham United is very good. Manchester City has been able to defeat West Ham easily in the last 3 matches. Guardiola is expected to take all necessary steps to dominate and win today's match.
On a head-to-head record, from BBC Manchester City is on the 1st position, and Westham is on the 9th position with a 52 total points and City's with a total of 88 points. The difference is very very clear that City's are beyond doubt the winners of todays match.

Although this gambling board we are only lucky games but at least statistics has shown that today's match with City's and the Hammers is not a lucky game but a clear and precise factual with for Manchester city.

Following the arguments, you can find out more points to why I'm certain that Manchester city is going to be the winners of today match to battle either Arsenal or Everton on their next match, here is the link on BBC - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/czkvkp3ej9xt#:~:text=Match%20facts&text=Manchester%20City%20are%20unbeaten%20in,winning%2013%20and%20drawing%20three.
80  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chased loss, got it back and lost everything. on: May 19, 2024, 07:09:24 AM
Firstly a gambler who finds himself in such a scenario was quite a lucky one but also greedy. Chasing gambling losses us something every responsible gambler tries as much as possible to avoid this is because not only does it end up ruin funds, it can also cause some sort of emotional stress in some gamblers. If you agree with me, there are certain persons out there that get soo fatigued and can even fall sick just because they ended up overthinking certain things. This is the main reason why as a gambler one is adviced to stake what one can afford to lose so that even if they lost the bet they won't be struck with such high and intense thinking.
Apparently, we all know gambling has to do with spending to get entertained but alot of gamblers stake with what they can't afford to loss even after reading so many instructions concerning gambling addictions and consequences attached to gambling without control but yet they keep heading for it.

However when they get the results of a particular gamble some of them refuse to accept the outcome of their gambling hence the inherent urge of wanting more will lead them to chasing losses, the story OP shared is a deep example of people without emotional control as one couldn't accept their fate to end the gambling instead of acquiring more loses they rather go ahead to gamble more than give it up for the loses.
