61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ANN | Espers [ESP] | New Algo | New Features In Development | Reverse-ICO | on: July 10, 2016, 05:01:25 PM
Espers is being marketed as a fair coin but this one person has a super miner. sound like a scam to me http://esp.miningalts.com/address/ETg6N7SvFQiZU4tyTgk3bzWCTDL4dn29tG Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Cry i lost money in this im not happy about it either but unless this miner is made public now this coin is trash. may already be trash as he mined over 2 billion coin with it already . its also starting to seem like alot of these community members are just devs with multiple forum accounts

The devs do not know who this miner is.  It is understandable that you would want to know who this is, but there is no way for the devs to know since it is none of us.  Unless someone comes forward and says "yeah that's me" and posts a screenshot of them mining there is no way to know who it is.

Also it would be great if you could refrain from calling Espers trash and accusing devs of using multiple forum accounts while repeating yourself ad nauseam.

The devs are doing all that they can to get the miner to the public in a working form.  The fact of the matter is that none of us have a suitable gpu to test the miner with (we understand that this proves nothing since you can't see our rigs and we get that, but it is the truth).  Since we don't have a new enough gpu to test with and we are not experts at coding and compiling miners we just assumed that they would work.  We apologize for this and are working hard to correct the issue.

if you get past the scammy mining the devs have released nothing. just meaningless fluff added to wallet and even thats been delayd few lines worth of code change on git . script kiddies with a new coin i think

The devs have not promised any dates on the new features.  Getting the miner out so that everyone could mine fairly was, and is, our chief concern at the moment.  After the miner issues have been resolved, we will be working on the features that have been listed in the mini-roadmap in the OP.  And please stop with the name calling (I know this is BCT and that may be a bit much to ask).  We will address everyone's issues with Espers to the best of our ability, but there is no need to personally attack the team.  We have been more transparent than most projects out there.  You can even see the names and photographs of 6/10 team members on the website.

I could easily run Wolf0's miner since the first release and I'm not alone, so basically people are complaining that they are not good enough to run it.

any chance you can give a step by step to get it working under windows with an HD 6450?

6450 is too old to work as there are no binaries for AMD Caicos based gpus.

i can mine just about every other coin with it though. mining decred on it now. was mining digi byte last night

I understand the frustration with that.  Wolf's custom optimized miner uses binaries that are specific to the gpu's chipset architecture.  That is the only explanation that I have and apologize if it is not deemed good enough.

To the best of my knowledge that is not one of the devs.  It is indeed quite a sum that that person accrued.  I can assure you that the devs are working hard with Wolf to get the miner to work correctly for everyone.  The problem that is currently occurring is that none of the main devs have any compatible video cards to test it with.  I know personally that the newest AMD card that I have is a HD 6450 which is not compatible with any of the current binaries that were released and since it doesn't work with nVidia, I cannot test with my mediocre 560ti either.

I was originally working on creating an nVidia miner, but since I have never really worked with miners either it only worked intermittently so we looked for outside help.  The problem with it is that outside help is expensive.  We are working hard on getting everyone on a level playing field, but it has been slow going.   We will continue to work on this but a timeframe is not something that we can promise.  We are now working with Pallas to get the nVidia miner that he has been working on out to the public, but we learned our lesson on promised dates and functioning miners, so it will be available as soon as we pay for it and test it.

slow but constant progress is what we need.
long term projects (which last for years to come) are the best investements.
yes sir I was been here from the start and I know how good the dev moves and all those members which helping this project I know it is just another pump and dump but created to change the point of view of an alt coin so better to support even it will take a long time.

I finally finished my new website, specifically for ESP mining hardware comparison.

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CON] PayCon™ HI POS | LiteStake | Multisend | TOR | Android on: June 20, 2016, 11:03:54 PM
Just curious

Why the need for new wallet code?
It their a security issue, or just want updated code issue?

Thanks.
 Cool

The current code is very out dated with issues causing fluctuations of 30-90% orphans. It uses an old Bitcoin core. We are wanting to eliminate the orphans issue, bring in newer features and update to later Bitcoin core.

I'm all for fixing the orphan issue and adding new features.

As far as updating bitcoin core, it was my understanding that no one has modified any of the newer bitcoin core versions for POS yet.  Are you saying that CON is going to achieve that and be the first POS with a newer version of Bitcoin core?

If not, what version are you planning on updating to?

I figure answers to these questions would be good for the community to know before they donate funds for updating the wallet.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LDOGE]LiteDoge | Community coin | No Premine | Very fast | NEW WALLET OUT! on: June 19, 2016, 01:19:48 AM
Today i saw the ad, I downloaded the new version, but there are no connections, so it does not stake. It serves bootstrap?
Or do I add nodes?
I disabled the Firewall, but my Norton took this version(v3.4.0.0) as a big threat!!!

You probably have to resync the database from 0.  You can either let it sync from scratch or use the supplied bootstrap.dat file from litedoge.tech

As far as Norton is concerned:  Norton typically does not like new files that have not been downloaded very many times by the community.  If it is marking it as a reputation threat, then that is why and you can just choose to restore file.  If if is some other threat please let us know and we will work to see why it thinks it is a threat.

Looking for pools to start mining, how much is premined?

Premine is 378,000,000 -- 50% of total supply

That could be why no pools have touched this yet

Edit: and now it has a pool  Huh

Are you using Joblo's optimised miner?
it is much more faster than others.

Edit: here is the link to it: http://cryptomining-blog.com/7930-windows-binaries-for-the-cpuminer-opt-3-3-5-cpu-miner/

I tried, but it throws an error once it starts, and program closes..

What is your command line?

I use this

cpuminer-sse2.exe -a hmq1725 -o http://127.0.0.1:22440/ -u xxxxxxx -p xxxxxxx

I've tried, cpuminer-sandy, and sse2 also.. but it starts, gets the latest block count then windows says the normal cpuminer has caused a problem blah blah.

Thanks!
-Roger

I now see what is causing your issue.  cpuminer-opt-sse2 is the correct execuatble for you to be running for a core 2 chip.  cpuminer-opt (at least for espers' hmq1725 algo) only works while pool mining.  It crashes when trying to solo mine.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ..........NETWORK COIN......... [NETC] X13 POW/POS ....YoBit..... on: June 10, 2016, 11:09:31 AM
NETWORKCOIN (NETC) Was created from the beginning and is open source ,
is a new alternative crypto coin that uses X13 algorithm,Why I chose the X13 algorithm rather than SHA256,Scryp-Jane,Scrypt or X11?.
I choose x13 over x11, because everyone is thinking that x11 is the ‘new’ scrypt so i wanted to be different and have something different.
I find that the innovation in NetworkCoin lies in its algorithm, The X13 algorithm is based on the X11 algorithm, but incorporates
1. more hashing functions and 2. more secure,Networkcoin include both a POW and a POS stage ,In that case once the coins have been mined
they will increase in value holding an open wallet your computer be online.Max coinbase 400.000 NETC ,
POW mining coins only 80.000,Block Time 60 Seconds ,Reward 5 NETC. Expect more improvements and features to come.

  • Why revive the thread while the coin is in maintenance mode at its only exchange?
  • Where are these improvements and features that you have presumably been promising for almost 11 months now?
  • Max coinbase is not 400,000 NETC, it has no hard cap.....static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 400000 * COIN; does not mean what you think it means dev

Mac 64bit cpuminer for espers (and many other algos) now available!

If anyone wants to give mining with their cpu on a mac a try and didn't know how to compile a miner, I have compiled the binaries for each chipset and zipped them up with the necessary library dependencies.  You can find the download here: https://github.com/ctgiant/cpuminer-hmq1725/releases/tag/0.1

It also has instructions on how to mine to a  pool or solo mine using the miner on the download page in case you need them.

This miner should also be able to be used for all other algos that are included in the normal cpuminer-multi from the day that ocminer originally forked his repository.  The only algorithm from the original that will definitely not work is neoscrypt.

If it does not work or you run into any issues let me know and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]: cpuminer-opt, New v3.3.3, Hodl fixed, x11evo and Windows support on: June 03, 2016, 10:14:06 PM
I continue to encourage Windows users to compile their own. That is always the best way

How would I go about doing that? LOL. Is there a "free" Windows compiler out there? I have Xeon E5640.

I do have access to Visual Studio Community 2015; supposed to be the same as Professional without CodeLens.

On the other hand, is there some "newbie" guide to doing this with a fresh install of say, Debian 8.4? (Or would you recommend Ubuntu?)

I just made a Debian 8.4 VM. Maybe I'll do it over again.

This is compiled on windows with a free compiler, but it is a pain to set up if you don't know what you are doing.  It can compile using mingw-w64 and msys, but you need to first compile all of the dependencies and link everything correctly.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ANN | Espers [ESP] | New Algo | New Features In Development | Reverse-ICO | on: June 02, 2016, 08:15:54 PM
any good mac miner for this?

I've built ocminer's cpu miner (https://github.com/ocminer/cpuminer-hmq1725) using both homebrew and macports after making a few code changes, but there is no downloadable binary for a mac miner that includes the hmq1725 algo.

If you know enough to give building it a try it can be worthwhile.  If you do try and have any questions, you can PM me and I will do my best to help with any trouble that you run into.

The optimized cpuminer by joblo uses instruction sets that are formatted differently from how clang wants to run them, so it is much more difficult to make work on mac, and I have yet to get it compiled.

For sgminer, I haven't tried to compile that yet.  I might try and tackle it at a later date, but because I have no video cards in my mac, I cannot reliably test it.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteDoge - such Community coin | no premine | very fast | much profit on: June 02, 2016, 04:01:41 AM
So i take it that this coin is essentially dead?? No Dev??

contact ctgiant here on bitcointalk
he's in charge of the dev team

I am not in charge of the dev team, merely part of it.  The last update that was done to fix all of the issues that caused chain to fork was done by some of the other devs.  It is a community coin, so if anyone wants to help out, just let us know.  We'd also like to see this coin continue, but some of us have had other things taking up our time for the last few months.

As far as getting in touch with the devs on BCT, they monitor the other thread that they started more than this one.   So if you have any questions/suggestions/thoughts on litedoge that you want to let the devs know about, they are more likely to read them over here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1308769.0

If you would like to get in touch with the devs quicker than BCT, they are frequently on IRC in the #litedoge channel.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ANN | Espers [ESP] | New Algo | New Features In Development | Reverse-ICO | on: June 01, 2016, 05:00:17 AM
Cryptomining blog has built Windows binaries of cpuminer-opt.

http://cryptomining-blog.com/7900-windows-binaries-for-the-cpuminer-opt-3-3-cpu-miner/

Edit: they've packaged it with all the DLLs you will need to run and will be portable.
Compiling with mingw_w64/msys does not create a portable build.

NICE!

I guess it's important to use the right version, or??
cpuminer-sandybridge-ivybridge.exe
cpuminer-haswell-broadwell.exe
cpuminer-amd.exe
cpuminer.exe

Yes it is. Or?? it does not work. Smiley

...or works slower.

Haswell is for core i 4000 series, sandy for Core i 2000. If your not sure give them all a try and use the
one that works best. If the algo is not AES_NI optimized you won't notice much difference.

I tried the Windows binary. On my E5640. I'm pretty sure it has AES_NI, but the software doesn't like it. Says "rebuild with  -march=native"
Then I tried the other two binaries, they won't even start at all, just crashes.

Oh well.

the e5640 is technically a Westmere cpu.  One generation prior to sandy bridge.  I know that the intel site says that it has AES-NI support, but it has a slightly different instruction set which could be the problem.  It is missing AVX.  I don't know enough about exactly how the miner works to say whether or not that is why you are facing your issue though.  If that is indeed the problem, then you would need a compiled version of the miner without AVX support.  Otherwise your guess as to why it is not working would be as good as mine.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]: cpuminer-opt, New v3.2.5 on: May 29, 2016, 07:51:19 PM
I'm installing winbuilds now, will report on my results.

Edit; I've looked over your comit and I have a couple of questions. Why no #endif?
Most of the changes are related to the use of asm by changing it to __asm__ for windows.
But in algo/groestl/sse2/grso-asm.c you made the change unconditional. I also find it
peculiar that some of the code with the asm syntax previously compiled on Windows.
Why is this change necessary?

Edit2: I downloaded your code but there are files missing, most noticeably configure. What's up with that?

Edit3: Nevermind, I've got something better going with my own version, only have to disable hold for non AES_NI.

Regarding the #endif.  That was a mistake.  I compiled without any conditional statements but when putting it up on github I added them and overlooked adding the #endif to the statements.  Same thing with grso-asm.c, I just missed adding the statements all together.  These issues have now been dealt with on github.

Regarding files missing, I cloned hmage's source from github so I have the same files that he put up there.

I've made progress but there are still issues.

I found a solution to the makefile issue that does not require a workaround.

I can compile on real HW, however, it requires a small procedure change for windows.
Unfortunately the display issue remains. Not only is the newline missing but the hash units are also missing
from the output. This does not occur in the startup text, only the mining output.

Still working on it.

Good luck on getting it working.  I look forward to seeing what you can do with it!
