Why is the share value half & the difficulty doubled now?
Cost more to mine than buy LTC with your pool now. Is there an error in the share price listed?

Difficulty periodically adjusts based on the average frequency at which blocks have been solved in the last few days. If more hashing power joins the network, difficulty rises. The value of a share is inversely proportional to network difficulty, so if difficulty rises share value goes down.
Mining is definitely not something for everybody these days. It is only profitable for those who have access to the most efficient mining hardware and, most importantly, cheap electricity.

can you add new york coin NYC to the pool ?

We have been in contact with NewYorkCoin representatives, but this is not currently a priority. Given the current market situation, merge-mining NYC would not increase overall profitability.

my account qosmio was hacked again, and my payout address was changed, I received email from you alerting me that ip 217.182.199.126 based in germany had done this on 14may2019. I am not in europe, please lock all payouts, also I cannot access my account anymore, I also had 2fa enabled. please let me know status, thank you.

According to our logs, 2FA was enabled by the attacker right before changing your payout address, probably to lock you out. The account has now been locked. Please check your email.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: April 09, 2019, 04:46:13 PM
if my vorker found the block, will I be rewarded for this?

no it is a pool paying for share - share is a "part of a computation used to find a block" - you don't find a block exactly - only your share help mining pool to find it - so it is only matter of luck. Sometimes there are bonuses but IIRC not in this pool

Uops seems to I answered quite old post :F  Anyway, I am curious if I am correct

Yes, that is basically correct. There is also a FAQ entry about this, by the way.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: March 26, 2019, 09:15:34 AM
Hi,

We've recently started testing some mining equipment and have 1 x AntMiner L3+ and 3 x BW L21 setup.

Initially they performed as specified but around March 21st we noticed a drop in hashrate as reported by the pool. The L3+ dropped to around 350mh/s and the L21's to somewhere between 450mh/s and 210mh/s.

Temperature is fine and the units themselves are reporting running at full speed - so around 500mh/s for the L3+ and 550mh/s for L21's (give and take a little).

Does anybody have any hints or clues as to what could cause this ?

If the speed reported by the pool is consistently lower than what it should be, it means that the miners are submitting fewer shares than they should be. Since the speed reported locally is as expected, my guess would be that the miners are running into HW errors, i.e., some hashes are computed incorrectly and result in invalid shares. You may not see them reported by the pool because most ASIC controllers check for bad hashes before submitting to the server, and discard them. The most common causes of HW errors are an insufficient power supply, overclocking, firmware bugs triggered by special network conditions, and of course actual hardware defects in the hashing circuitry. Did the 4 hash rates drop all at the same time? Does resetting the miners help? Maybe write an email to support including your username, so that we can have a look at the account.

I made a rookie mistake with sending litecoin to an exchange with low fees. Can a litecoin miner please help me out? Trx IDs:

1.d30b57cfef7b31ccc78a67c456dde987afefa2b681e05aed70de1011d49809dd

2.428963a144d15ac5c85cfa72937cc95e87d01559a3d872c0bd5194227253e6c2

Transactions have been stuck for weeks now, willing to pay to get them confirmed.

I cannot find these transactions anywhere in the mempool or on block explorers, so if you want help you will probably need to provide the full transactions, not just the IDs. Feel free to send an email to support.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: February 17, 2019, 06:57:40 PM
I started my Litecoinpool account with a futurebit moonlander miner and have since added the Apollo miner to the mix.  I can see the Moonlander in my litecoinpool account page, but I can't see the Apollo there.  How do I set this up to combine the two into one view?

On the Apollo itself, I set it to share with my litecoinpool user name and password.  So, it seems like it should be working, but I can't see how the apollo is generating new litecoin anywhere.  What do I do?

You probably want to create a new worker (at the top of your "My Account" page), and connect your second miner using this new worker's username and password. That way the website will show separate statistics for the two miners.

My accound was HACKED ! payment address for user lexxpsycho has been modified. This change was requested from: 176.65.115.162 ! I DO NOT DO THIS! THAT WASN'T ME!
Sending an email to support was enough, but of course I understand you're worried about the situation.

Total newbie to cryptomining, can you advise if these stale and invalid shares look normal?
I am using three L3+ miners, obvious form the data I have added them over the last month.  Not overclocked.  Thanks!

Your numbers for the last 4 days look OK. Before that something was clearly wrong, though, as a stale rate of 1% is already abnormal.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: November 29, 2018, 07:27:48 AM
I noticed that there are some pools that are not small, but are not labeled in the hashrate distribution chart. Is there any way to discover what these pools are?

Not that I know of. Besides, these could very well be solo miners.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: why are we constantly getting same payout regardless of diff on: November 14, 2018, 09:47:42 AM
it seems that regardless of diff, litecoinpool will adjust the PPS accordingly so basically we are always earning the same, if diff goes down, more blocks are found, yet we are being paid the same,
It is crucial to understand that the PPS ratio depends on the relative profitability of the chains that are being merge-mined (i.e. Dogecoin, Viacoin, etc.).
The decision to increase or decrease the PPS ratio is never based on the Litecoin network difficulty going up or down, simply because this difficulty determines the profitability of Litecoin, but not that of the merged chains.
The factors that do determine the PPS ratio are the relative market prices of the merge-mined cryptocurrencies, and the relative difficulty of their networks. The word "relative" is key here. To make an example, if Litecoin's difficulty makes a jump in either direction and the other networks follow suit, the relative profitability of merged mining does not change.
At the moment, the main factor driving the PPS ratio down is the price of Dogecoin (relative to Litecoin), which has been dropping steadily since September.

PPS ratio apart, the actual statistics don't match your claim that the payouts always stay the same. One month ago, when the difficulty was 9054556 and the ratio was 107%, the PPS rate was 4.50792x10-11 LTC/share; today, the difficulty is 8068443 and the ratio is 104%, and the PPS rate is 4.91704x10-11 LTC/share, which is over 9% higher.

and thats not to mention the doge blocks that litecoinpool get.
You seem to be a bit confused about how this works. The blocks resulting from merged mining are converted to LTC and used to pay miners, and they are the only thing that makes a PPS ratio of 100% and over possible.

why is the PPS constantly being lowered?
It is not. The PPS ratio goes both up and down. The last time it went up was on September 10, when it went from 104% to 107%, and it stayed there until November 2, when it was deemed no longer sustainable and lowered to 105%.

Your stale rate on 2018-11-03 was abnormally high, but from the pool's side it's hard to tell why. What I can say is that this probably wasn't a pool issue, as other users did not experience an increased stale rate. It is possible that there was some temporary network issue on that day causing increased latency between your miners and the pool's servers. Another possible cause, depending on how your hardware is configured, is overclocking, which generally makes a miner's output more unpredictable.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: November 02, 2018, 06:38:54 PM
Why did it get down to 105%?
Same reason as always: the relative profitability of merge-mined chains changed.

How and when does the PPS ratio change?
The PPS ratio depends on factors such as the current network difficulty and market price of merged-mined cryptocurrencies. Since these elements can be highly volatile, the ratio can change at any time.

Hello, my account got hacked. Same username as here. The problem is that now they also have my e-mail account so I can't recover anything. If you can message me here to help out that would be great
Jk my bitcointalk account got hacked as well, RIP

We received your email and replied shortly thereafter, but I assume the reply got intercepted by whoever got control of your email account.

I am going to suspend all payouts for this account until the case is clearly resolved. Luckily none of your balance has gone to the intruder so far.

If you can regain exclusive access to your email, we might be able to work things out. By the way, you may have to consider the possibility that your computer got entirely compromised, so you should proceed very carefully.

Is it possible to make EU.litecoinpool.org which leads to same servers like litecoinpool.org?
Can do.

Oh btw, litecoinpool.org have 3 DNS records but www.litecoinpool.org have just 2.
Different services. The former is for mining, the latter is for the website.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: August 06, 2018, 03:02:30 AM
Ive noticed that the share efficiency has been lower than normal recently. Is there a particular reason for that? Does it have to do with the variability in hash rate that we have been experiencing? Are there any planned updates to increase the share efficiency?

As far as I can tell the global share efficiency hasn't moved substantially recently, it's still floating around a 99.5% average.
There isn't much to be done in terms of updates to increase this figure, as pool-side latency is already quite minimal. Most of the latency is due to network communication and miner software.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: July 14, 2018, 08:52:29 PM
Pooler, how is the state of litecoinpool in terms of financial stability? I am hoping that it is making a nice profit to help keep the lights on and you interested in continuing its development!

Our profits may not be as big as our competitors', but we are fully aware that financial sustainability is of the utmost importance for a PPS pool. We try to maintain a reasonable "buffer" at all times, so that we can sustain relatively long periods of bad luck.
Also I'd like to mention that, even though litecoinpool.org was never profit-oriented, it's always been one of my favorite projects. I've never given up on it just because there was a lack of profitability (and in over 6 years that happened quite a few times), and I still don't intend to. Smiley
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The First Litecoin PPS Pool (litecoinpool.org) on: July 13, 2018, 07:42:57 PM
Hey Pooler,

I sold my 8,000mh of Bitmain L3's and L3+ scrypt-pow miners, so I'm off the pool. Thanks for the run. Back in the day I think I got as high as 25 on all time list and was 2 on the

daily list for a while....I made 12,700 some LTC on your pool and should have kept them ALL.....(sigh) like 99.99998% or so of LTC holders, before April 2017 when LTC was $4.15 usd

and below...I swap'd for BTC or spent it....alas...

anyway, with Bitmain controlling about 51% of the pools for BTC and 90% of scrypt-pow miners that are still mining.. and soon will be at 51% for a lot of scrypt-pow coins like LTC, I doubt I

will be back to scrypt-pow and LTC.

Bitmain has a method where they will mine the summer, IMHO, with NEW EQUIPMENT, supposedly, at 3x the speed now and the same power, more or less and as a 4 month or so pre-order

thus the game is they will further run the difficulty up 30% or more over the summer before you could even get their units..if this is the case (again IMHO)

Thus with 90% of LTC miners and scrypt-pow now being Bitmain L3 and L3+ units...IF they all have to shut off...I really, really doubt I'm gonna play Bitmain's game

and start from scratch with new units as a pre-order in the fall.

Thus a lot of folk on your pool may move on unless some competitor comes in and stifles Bitmain...but alas it is looking a lot like 2014 when small fry BTC miners went the

way of the dodo

anyway, what I see coming down the pike this summer..so I took the $$$ and ran like heck!

anyway, hopefully, I'm wrong..but my logic on what I see as MORE than a bit of 'centralization' on Bitmain's part of scrypt-pow and LTC at least for the next 6 months

anyway, thanks for the pool...if it ever makes sense to come back ..I will simply fire up my account and start it up again

brad

Thank you, Brad! Smiley (I also got your message on IRC, sorry I wasn't around to answer.)
