61  Other / Politics & Society / Re: George Zimmerman arrested for 2nd degree murder for killing Trayvon Martin on: April 13, 2012, 03:25:57 PM
Ah, but Trayvon was the original instigator in this matter, and he got what was coming to him.  He went looking for a fight and found one he couldn't handle, and died because of his own actions. No amount of crying, or "I could have been him 20 years ago" bullshit is going to change the facts of this matter. Zimmerman acted in self-defense after a premeditated assault, and the world has lost one more wanna-be gangbanger. Boo fucking hoo.
Interesting. Have you been interviewed as a witness? When do you testify?

If not, you're full of shit man, and you whine like a little punk ass bitch white boy, which you undoubtedly are.

IMO, it appears to be a pretty good time to sell bitcoins, but we need some buyers  Wink

65  Other / Off-topic / Re: An open question.... on: April 12, 2012, 10:03:28 PM
I am 18 but I've only successfully dated women over the age of 23. I am now talking with women 30-35... approaching the age of my mother. Luckily I give the appearance (through personality) that I am in my mid-20s to most people in my circles but I still feel conflicted over how socially acceptable this is.

I feel almost pedophillic for when I date women my age and even a little older. I often feel like I am talking with an ignorant child, quite frankly.

I am curious if I am not the only one who has had tastes like this at this age. Is anyone similar to me? Is this "acceptable"?
Sure, anything you say Jon, it is best to humor a weak and pathetic child such as yourself.

Do any of your folks know how one can ignore an entire thread? I can't say that there is any individual here I would want to ignore, but I often see opportunities to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. Thanks for your help.

perhaps by just not keeping on clicking on it & posting in it, just a suggestion - though we'd miss you for sure I'm sure
Uhhhhhh... wait. You're saying to not click or post on something I don't want to see or read? Huh! I'll have to try that, thanks  Grin

Astrology is not a big part of my world view by a longshot, but it can be fun, what the heck.

I have a dear friend, a college house mate and chemical engineer with a definite bent for what I would broadly term mysticism, we would cast I Ching hexagrams with morning coffee just to have something to compare to the newspaper horoscope and Dear Abby's latest insights into living.

Now, anyone who's had the questionable fortune to read some of my other posts can easily see that I don't have no truck for no hoodoo nohow. I may view all the Semitic religions as an ancient curse on humanity, but I just can't get too worked up about Ouija boards and the like.

I used to frequent another investment discussion board where one of the folks ran an astrology thread and would regularly clue us all in to secrets hidden in the stars. I don't recall anyone, at least for not very long, getting bent out of shape about it, it was just for fun.

That's my take on this discussion, have fun. I hope I'm not insulting astrology fans by patronizing them, that's not my intent.

Can't effectively collude? You are kidding right? At least with fiat there is an infrastructure for trying to stop it.

What do you think people will do with something like Bitcoin where there are no regulatory bodies by design?
How exactly could multiple parties manipulate the exchange price without losing money on average? It's hard enough doing it on your own without having to worry about being double-crossed.
How can you be double crossed if you are on your own? That makes no sense to me.
You can't. What I'm saying that a large entity like the Manipulator still has a tough time. If he had co-conspirators he would THEN have the additional trust problem.

Also, haven't you heard of the Manipulator? Wink
Yes, but I'm still not convinced he's real. I'm talking about large groups of potential speculators, not the Bill Brasky of Bitcoin. Tongue

And are you saying that if a bunch of people got together and put a bunch of money into bitcoin, they couldn't play the market or fux with the price?  I don't see how that makes any sense considering lots of people with smallish amounts of money have made money so far.

They could try, but on average they will lose money. It would be generally ineffective.
Are you kidding? Think penny stocks, manipulation is the only reason they exist. This has been discussed elsewhere, really all it takes is a 500 lb gorilla. People make whole careers out of scamming pennies, some even using their real names to do it Wink

Facebook must die, it is one of the greatest threats to personal privacy and freedom worldwide today.

Warriors against Facebook, know that this is jihad, take no prisoners. Destroying the enemy is an act of mercy, so be merciful.

So, where are the Elliot Wave guys?
Elliott's last publication was entitled "Nature's Law–The Secret of the Universe", by that time he was a full-fledged Operating Thetan and ascended to a higher astral plane two years later...no, no, no, never mind, I'm thinking of Scientology  Wink

Perhaps some sort of transcendence of the life-death cycle of bitcoin has sent the wavers off to their celestial destiny.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Encourage George Zimmerman (Florida self-defense shooting victim) to accept BTC on: April 10, 2012, 04:51:43 PM
I'll wait for the investigative process and the grand jury. One possible outcome is that the whole thing is just a really unfortunate screw up, such things do happen.

So, just for fun, who else here besides me has ever used a firearm in self defense in a civillian context on their home soil? I'm not looking for military experience, I was quite enthusiastic about putting rounds downrange at the enemy, I know I connected more than a few times.
78  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What happens when the coins dry up? on: April 10, 2012, 02:56:54 PM
Been wondering. What happens when all the coins have been released? Does everyone just stop mining? Would that leave just people who want to contribute to the cause hashing to verify transactions? That seems like it would make it quite easy for someone to gather a modest amount of hardware and hit that 51% mark.

OR will there still be rewards for hashing? Such as the transaction fees being distributed?

Yes, bitcoin will get killed by attacks when this happens unless the protocol is changed. Actually, death due to decreasing rewards will likely happen much sooner than when rewards drop to zero.
I seem to recall seeing something here about one of the alternate blockchains dying from inattention, someone posting something to the effect that several episodes of corruption and a need for recovery preceded the ultimate demise.

The "spinning plates" ( a reference to the stage show where dozens and dozens of spinning plates are balanced on sticks and kept spinning by the performer running from one to the next to keep them spinning ) model of bitcoin operation has always given me doubt. The state of the blockchain freezing completely is not so bothersome, but what happens if mining declines is. With all the hashing horsepower that has built up out there it seems rather likely that an attempt to seize control of the blockchain could be successfully executed. Unlike the alternative blockchains there is enough value locked in bitcoin to make it an attractive target.

I apologise for the length of this post and number of images. I'll keep the analysis short and let the charts do most of the speaking.
Very nice, good stuff. I've been stacking up the various charts the same way, it helps much in seeing movements. In fact you just gave me an idea, too bad I'm not a web developer.
