Hi Reynaldo,

I'm running ubuntu with lubuntu-core desktop

Once I do the shutdown there is no output, just a blank screen.

If there is a way to look at logs (unknown to me)

I will happily replicate the error so I can post the output.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / bitcoind 0.10 freeze ubuntu 14.10 on: March 04, 2015, 12:54:40 AM
If shutdown the machine without shutting down bitcoind it will not shutdown unless I do a hard shutdown.

If I stop bitcoind and then order the shutdown. It shuts ddown like it should.

Ubuntu 14.10 64bits

we should use bitcoin related 2FA

https://github.com/nanotube/supybot-bitcoin-marketmonitor/blob/master/GPG/local/bitcoinsig.py

easy to implement and only requires storing public bitcoin addresses.

theymos hasn't responded here for a few days. We will know after he respond. But I don't whether he will use this instead of Google Authenticator. Is there any other site, which uses this 2FA? AND HOW does this work, if only public Bitcoin address is needed?

  ~~MZ~~

Only the owner of the bitcoin address can sign the message. Giving an extra layer of control for the user and less responsibility for the administrator. Since the administrator does not have to provide and keep private keys for the google authenticator.

bitcoin address;

Now you can use bitcoind, electrum, etc to verify the signature. or the script I linked above.

That would be great! So if it is implementing, I would suggest a bot to prevent re-use of same signature again because if we have posted a message in BT, then the user can bypass this 2FA by copy-pasting the signature. Roll Eyes

  ~~MZ~~

Actually you need a random phrase generator that changes on every login. So no copy pasting can work.

Yes this would be a great feature, and it be nice to include a way to bump a thread by updating the reserved announcement slot, without the "BUMP" feature....

Keeping withing a rule of no more than one announcement update every say 24 hours

edit and a format of

#date update message

would create an autobump without needing to bump and have the update highlighted.
73  Other / New forum software / Auto Update Option on: September 25, 2014, 11:08:33 PM
It be nice, if I leave the forum window open. for it to update every say 5 min or more...

and if I get a message and look back at the forum tab on my browser I will know I have a message.

Rather than waiting on my email notice to tell me I got a message. it would just freeze at the "open message" message...

75  Other / Off-topic / What is cheaper bandwidth or cpu cycles? on: September 25, 2014, 01:39:48 PM
Would you rather receive compressed data to safe bandwidth at the cost of extra cpu cycles?

or

Would you rather receive uncompressed data to reduce cpu cycles at the cost of bandwidth?

2fa would be  great layer of security. And we can use bitcoin available technology to verify signatures.

Tipjar great way to tip ops for good threads or comments.
