61  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do Hashocean company will close on: June 26, 2016, 03:13:14 AM
I am not a customer of Hashocean or any cloud mining site, well expect nicehash but I don't see that as the same type of investment.
When I was seriously looking at investing in such things I found the thread below and it gave me some points to consider before investing, check it out.
They don't mention Hashocean in the beginning but, they certainly do near the end (and I think it's kinda entertaining)

62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase has partnered with Paypal - Officially! on: June 26, 2016, 03:02:09 AM
This is a welcome development for Paypal and Bitcoin users. Now it is easy to use and transact bitcoin as it is backup by this big company.Im expecting additional popularity of bitcoin and it will attract more follower and supporter.
I don't think Coinbase would allow a 1:1 withdrawal via PayPal and I'm still waiting for some more information on this. If they would need us to verify our account, it would be same like Virwox and we already have read about delays in Coinbase deposits and withdrawals. Hope everything goes well.

I have been using Coinbase for more than a year, I am satisfied with the service that they provide.
I did have go to through a large amount of verification and I am pretty sure they know everything about me, including my blood type.  Grin
My only gripe is the amount of delay they have built into buying and selling bitcoin from my bank. I have linked a checking account and it takes 3-5 days to actually receive the BTC or FIAT. Though the prices, and fees, are set the moment of purchase.
My only hope is that the partnership with Paypal may help out with that but, I am hot holding my breath.
63  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Price Passes $750 to Hit 28-Month High on: June 26, 2016, 02:50:50 AM
As we speak the value of bitcoin is about 673 USD according to preev. I hope it will continue to rise more in this week and reach 1000$ later. If that would happen it will be nice.

It's pretty hard to think now that bitcoin will rise to $1,000 because many things are happening like halving, brexit etc. The price is trying to stay above $600 but it is very unstable. It passed $750 but fast was decreased to $600, hope this halving will increase the price back to $750.

It would be really disappointing if price don't touch to $750 at halving, as people are hoping to see the price of $1k at halving and it will be really frustrating if it even reach  to  $750.
Yeah but i think i believe that th price of bitcoin will still hit in this value and more price increase after block halving..
In $1k value for now its iimpossible right now to think that the price of bitcoin will hit in 1k value if we see that the price is increase and hit to 900 value
Expect for 1k value..

Not sure man btc is going to SKYROCKET after the halving, it could take a month but it definitely will go up in price, the price range im estimating is $950 but $1000+ is more than possible because of the price value now i expect 1000% increase.

Don't expect price hike after the halving as majority of community feels that price will fall back after the halving, so if you want to secure profits then selling before or at the halving is the best time.

I also expect the price to plummet once the block halving has taken place. It's not that unusual as people are hyping up the block halving like it's the only thing left for Bitcoin that can make the price increase.

Looking at the current situation I don't think that we will see higher price at halving, as price rise is too slow and it can definitely wont take to $1k price.

Do you guys know anything about economics? please explain why you think that it's going to go down, surely you cant give me a good reason, but i can give you a good reason why bitcoin is surely going to go up after the halving. SUPPLY GOES DOWN DEMAND GOES UP. The end.

lots o quotes!!

I agree! While we may see some adjustments as we go I am quite bullish.
Not only will the newly minted supply decrease due to the halving, the larger miners need to maintain their profitability so they will do what they can to keep the BTC price at current levels, or probably higher.
Now before anyone beats me up about that last statement, again, I am not saying it is a conspiracy or collusion or they are bad, I am just saying larger miners have a decent amount of resources, I.E. Tools, at their disposal to help them maintain their margins and I believe they would use them.  I would if I was them!

then why are they complaining about it?  no one is going to listen to newb accounts anyway

LOL, That is a very good point, thanks I needed that.
Maybe it will give them incentive to become an active and productive member of the community.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase has partnered with Paypal - Officially! on: June 24, 2016, 02:40:34 AM
The best thing about this is the exposure BTC will get, which will hopefully speed adoption.  More people = More Future

I agree with other comments here..to have a large company, that is not doing all that great, potentially using BTC as it's next thing is probably not good.
The amount of time and money they can bring to the table to impose their will on BTC will be orders of magnitude greater than what exists in BTC today.

In 5 years I wonder if we will see this as "The first step in the commercialization of BTC".   Sad

Why dont you keep a seminar or live conference and connect with people interested online by joining it via google hangout etc and you explain you future plans, business proposals etc about it.

We wanna first get people noticed about us first, then we will definitely have a conference before we start selling it.

What are you doing to get it noticed. Why dont you introduce signature campaign for the thread and gets started noticed within minutes?

Yes. As I mentioned, we are a media company with our own TV channel with global coverage. We've already inserted ads in our channels.
We are trying to take advantage with this forum but we are facing difficulties. We are not able to insert images in our profile or even in the post.

i am going to test something with this reply

<excluded Image>

As you can see, it can be done.

You need to get to a higher rank in order to add more fun stuff to your postings.
The only way to do that is to post and let time pass, it may be a good way to become more familiar with Crypto Currency in general.
I think you need to get somewhere around "Member" to "Sr. Member" to do what you want.

FYI, the timing if when your posts become activity can be a little confusing, pay close attention.

69  Economy / Digital goods / Re: btc poker accounts with balances ($10-$10000) - 50% on: June 22, 2016, 08:53:49 PM

i dont use the accounts, not recommend anyone to use the accounts. just selling mate. and thanks for the advice.

as my op states, what they do with the account is their choice. i dont recommend anything

I admit it... I did not unwatch this thread...I couldn't help myself!!! I was too interested to see if/what the response would be.
And I was not disappointed and was again amused.

What you said reminds me of what a drug dealer, or maybe an arms dealer, might say.
I don't use what I sell...I don't tell my customers how to use what I sell them...I tell everyone that I sell to "Do not use these!"

Really this time I have unwatched it....really!!!
Thanks!!
70  Economy / Digital goods / Re: btc poker accounts with balances ($10-$10000) - 50% on: June 22, 2016, 08:20:20 PM
False. They will see chip dumps when the owner of the hacked account complains.  Even if it's using different iP and Mac addresses. I've played poker for a long time.
false. i have customers who make thousands of withdraws no problem. stop talking like you know everything.

just dont be idiot and dump all chips to your acc? lose to others in a 6 man table
make it look legit, no way they will suspect everyone.

and this site doesn't care. im telling you man. contact them and say you got hacked, they will say it is your fault there is nothing we can do.

I had been watching this thread because it was amusing to me (I have now unwatched it)
I am no angel but, your flagrant disregard for your fellow humans is truly astounding, and a little sad.
To argue, in an open forum, about how it's ok to steal from people and describing how you justify the actions to yourself...the size of your balls must be immense.

I wish you good luck in all you do, both honest and dishonest.
but, be aware Karma can be, and usually is, a bitch!!
71  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: newbie question - buy/sell diff on: June 21, 2016, 01:57:23 PM
stupid question, probably. On YoBit, sometimes there is a small difference between the 'buy' and the 'sell' price, and sometimes there is a huge diff between them.

I don't understand what drives the difference between the 'buy' and the 'sell' price.  I can see the sell orders, and when one of them is used up, the price increases a little bit. Why don't the buy orders match? ie if the buy price goes up by 2 sats, why doesn't the sell price goes up 2 sats?

trading for dummies 101?

A part of that difference is a fee that the exchange platform gets.

In every currency market there is a difference between "buy" and "sell" price.

Usually the "Sell" price is higher because of that fee.

I am pretty sure the fee is not factored into the price.
It gets deducted from the amount you are willing to trade, so if you commit .01 BTC to a trade and the fee is .2%, then you actually buy .00998 worth.
Now that is not to say when people set their buy or sell price they do not consider the fee and set a slightly different price.
I agree with the premise of the comment and that is "Pay attention to the fees"

meaning all exchange platform gets their profit in every the transaction fee, then no more...??

In general that is correct.
The publicly stated way the exchanges make coin are through 2 fees, a per trade fee, for yobit that is generally 0.2%, and a withdraw fee, which usually varies by coin.
If you leave your coin in the exchange and just retrade or hold them, you do not incur a withdraw fee.
Each exchange has a little different policy and fee structure that you should take into account when using it.

Now I can tell you there are horror stories about what some exchanges are really doing with our coin. (Search on MtGox and Cyrptsy)
The lesson learned form this stories...You should not hold all of your coin in any one exchange.
72  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Idea, Opinions Needed on: June 21, 2016, 04:04:45 AM
The reason we are doing this is because we want to take advantage of the advanced technology nowadays.
Interesting idea and a use of a cryptocurrecy that I have not seen before.
I really hope this approach works out for you!

A couple of thoughts:

The price of a coin/shares is based on the sales on a public market.  If this will not be on a market, who sets the price?  How do investors trust the valuation?

Coin investors, and investors in general, need some type of return. Your plan must ensure people get paid.

Stock/shares/coin in the company implies ownership which means income and a vote.
The coins are totally different from stock, but owners of the coins can participate in company's daily management business and decision making through different channels.
The coins grant you the rights to receive dividend but not voting rights.
These 2 quotes seem to be at odds, better get it straight.

You might just want to consider using a token/asset coin that's already out there to do this for you, like counterparty. https://counterparty.io/docs/assets/#assets
If you start your own coin, you need to consider all the mechanics behind it and have the capability to maintain and run it properly.
This is a great statement, don't recreate the wheel, it is not your core business and other people probably do this better than you already.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Still worth buying GPUs? on: June 21, 2016, 02:34:47 AM
I was thinking of making 2 rigs of RX 480s, either 10 or 12 GPUs in total. Just mine profitable coins or coins that look promising in the future even if they aren't the most profitable (Ex. Decred). My electricity is around $0.09/kwh. Is that electricity a good price for mining? Seems around medium. I have another house I where I could set up for $0.04/kwh.

With electricity @ .09, the margins will not be large but your setup sounds promising.
You may want to pay investigate algo switching and/or coin switching pools to maximize the profitability of the rig.
There are lots of people doing some awesome GPU rigs, in this forum, and your sounds like a good one.
Good luck.

So people pump a coin to increase the buy price- what do we do to increase the sell price?

The exchange relies on the # of buy orders that come in, to promote different emotions to people.

Most can relate to fear because its what we fear on missing out on - so hence people jumping on last minute which can push the price increase further.

Thats basically all youre looking for and being aware of these situations as a trader.

Emotion in trading = potentially bad decision.

The difference between the bid and ask is called the spread and they are there to stimulate a free market.
(What is someone willing to buy the coin for is the bid, what someone is willing to sell the coin for is the ask.)
(The order book, all those lines under each side of the trading screen, shows the supply(ask) and demand (bid).)

Why is there a big, or small, spread? What will the spread be tomorrow? How high will it go? These are called speculation (I.E. how to make the best possible guess)
For me trading is all about the numbers, I concentrate on those, they are exact, they are real and they never lie.

The mechanics of trading coin is not very different from trading stocks, there are lots of resources on stock trading so don't forget to include those in your research.

76  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Before and After the Halving. on: June 19, 2016, 03:59:38 PM
I think after halving the trading will be more beneficial and more people will be involved in bitcoin trading , as at that time everyone will sell and buy bitcoin on large scale so there will be a large profit in trading.
I also think that after halving a large number of people will buy and sell bitcoin so every exchange will be more efficient and within a day a trader will earn a bigger amount of profit and will be millionaire sooner.

Now that is very optimistic "millionaire", good for you!

IMHO, only due to the halving, other factors aside, the price will stabilize somewhere in the 700 to 800 USD range.
This will allow the miners to be profitable, which sustains the blockchain and allows our transactions to keep flowing.
I also think it is not out of the realm of reality to think some of the larger miners are playing a role in the rise we are currently seeing.
There are enough of 'visible' events causing bitcoin price to go high already.
Claiming that there is hidden agenda of miners which behind our back are pumping price like crazy is a bit too much.
Bitcoin is undervalued as crazy, people started to realize that. Miners don't have to do anything.

I am not saying it's a hidden agenda, or that I am right about it.
It just makes sense to me, large miners are about profit. The halving has the greatest direct impact to mining profitability, cutting it in half instantly.  I am sure they think about it.
Now it is true that I am an infrastructure kinda thinker and I am too simple minded to understand everything that is moving BTC but, I do understand profit preservation.
I really hope the rise we are seeing is not only about the mining profitability and other factors are more important and this is more about the markets being behind the current perceived value.

EDIT: Some Grammar errors, I need to check first and not post right after I wake up.

78  Other / Archival / Re: Do you use bitcoin as currency or investment? on: June 19, 2016, 04:27:01 AM
I use it only as an investment

I use the BTC I have to make more, that might be through mining or trading.
My objective is to have more BTC tomorrow than I have today and I do multiple things to make that happen.
There is alot of opportunity out there, though most of it is not large.
FYI: I do not scam and I try my best to be a good citizen

I have to say it does make me a little sad that I cannot use it as currency but it is just not accepted as one as of yet, at least where I am.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I can't see it ever really catching on on: June 19, 2016, 03:05:15 AM
While it is a little sad that more people do not share our passion, I don't really care!!

When I mention BTC to my father, a retired C-Level from a not small investment firm, he rolls his eyes and starts to ignore me.
I am so happy to see that.  BTC, and Crypto Currency in general, is still like the wild west.
Most people died in their 30's but a decent amount of the underpinnings of our current society where born back then.
(Not to mention that a bulk of the old money was generated back in those days)
80  Economy / Economics / Re: USD vs BTC on: June 19, 2016, 02:30:18 AM
We need to give BTC time to mature and for people to get use to it.
When the US centralized dollar was first introduced, in the late 1700's??, it took a while for it to become the defacto standard across the nation.
Now granted things are a little faster in the world today but BTC still needs to live a while longer to allow people the opportunity to adjust to it.
