61  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN] CoinBoards.org - New Bitcoin and Litecoin Community! on: August 15, 2013, 06:46:19 AM
Okay? But I dont see your point on hating on someone that has done nothing to harm you. I do graphic design for a living and bitcoin is my hobbie. If you feel so strongly that it is unsafe than dont use it, no one is telling you to be in this discussion or threatening you to join or use the wallet.

No, but it's suspect to me that you keep pushing it.

You wouldn't like it if I went onto your forum to advertise a bitcoin forum I own, it's poor manners for you to do it as well.
62  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN] CoinBoards.org - New Bitcoin and Litecoin Community! on: August 15, 2013, 05:26:03 AM
Lol the forums have been online now for over 3 months...The wallets code is free available by doing a view source one coinboards.org/walletcb I have no access to anything in anyones wallet it is direct code from carbonwallet just a feature for the forum, if you actually took a look at the site then you would see how nice it is, including the features in postbits. This community generally doesn't want flamers, people who have good intentions and are set on development wouldn't want to care about or listen to the hate. See you knowledgable members there! Smiley

And how long does it take to change the javascript out with a malicious one?
63  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-08-13 Senate panel kicks off broad look at Bitcoin on: August 15, 2013, 12:51:24 AM
Guys.

We want them to declare war on bitcoin.

Everything they declare war on becomes SUPER EXPENSIVE.
64  Economy / Lending / Re: .11 btc loan on: August 14, 2013, 06:05:54 AM
Odd.

The .11 BTC loan was never spent on anything.

ummm whats the point advertising a small bitcoin forum in a big bitcoin forum?
where else would you advertise it? ;-)
people are getting pretty tired of the scams going on here and the lack of moderation on them. ie people openly selling old accounts to help scammers seem legit etc.... wouldn't surprise me if this site ended up dwindling down whilst members went elsewhere
That last won't happen, @scams and viruses @FB compare to g+ or twitter. It holds and will hold majority.
Anyways you're right on the first part, the problem with it is moderation and so the list would go on. Yes, a new community might be something that we would need (doesn't need the same/bigger userbase as this, a fraction is enough to start with), but it needs something to stand out from the rest.. something that would actually make me want to join it?

It's pretty scammy to advertise a forum, in another forum.

If I start a forum and then advertise my forum in his forum, even if my forum has less members than his, you can be pretty sure that he'll delete the thread and ban me, and rightfully so. You don't go to someone elses party then tell everyone the party is actually at your house and expect the host not to kick you out.

The carbonwallet clone he's running now as well is also a bit of a red flag, since we can't know whats going on behind the scenes with the code installed on his server.
66  Economy / Lending / Re: 1 btc gamble , 300% return potential on: August 13, 2013, 02:43:43 AM
Wouldn't it make more sense for the individual to bet themselves and keep all the profits?

I don't think you thought this all out  Roll Eyes

But then they have 100% of the risk. This way, as a loan, they only have 100% of the risk.
67  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: CoinBoards Wallet - Secure Easy to Use Bitcoin Wallet on: August 12, 2013, 08:24:00 PM
Our wallet is integrated into the forums making it easier to access than going to carbonwallet if you are using our forums

And if we're not using your forum, what advantage is there?

How do we know there isn't any malicious code, that is server-side code, on the site? It's not very difficult to modify the software on the site itself to steal pass phrases. It seems to me like you're just trying to get people to use your forum.

You took CarbonWallets code, put it on your own site and run their code on your own servers (to which we hope hasn't been modified for malicious purposes), but what have you done, other than installing the script on your web server?

Also, I'm not sure how this qualifies as investment.

Allow me to introduce myself, after which I will no longer be a stranger Smiley

Seriously though, if that's the issue, name someone you'd trust and I'll ask him to join as a treasurer.

I trust me, can I be a treasurer?

71  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN] CoinBoards.org - New Bitcoin and Litecoin Community! on: August 12, 2013, 03:41:42 PM
So since this is in services..
How much BTC will I get for joining?  Roll Eyes

Great idea.

I think you'll have better luck paying people to join the site.

Maybe 1 Bitcoin each.
72  Economy / Lending / Re: need 0.60 btc for these three cool things on: August 12, 2013, 01:57:51 AM
Yes i do have a job

and as for the interest rate it would be about 1.75% i believe

when i will pay back? I will pay this Saturday like i said. At 6PM, more specifically EST time.

0.60 btc loan, paying back 0.60 btc = 0%.

And seriously, a loan for articles of consumption? Suicide.
73  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Getting Wikipedia to accept Bitcoin donations - Community pledge on: August 12, 2013, 12:11:06 AM
I'm not saying thats what anyone here is trying to accomplish (uh, well, okay its actually not entirely clear to me that the ask here is entirely orthogonal with that kind of outcome—  I can promise that _someone_ is going to run some "OMG BITCOIN WORLD DOMINATION, EVEN WIKIPEDIA ACCEPTS" story on the basis of anything done here) but past outcomes have seriously soured people to certain kinds of relationships (enough that as a result Wikimedia generally no longer does partnerships with commercial entities),  and plenty of companies stumble in wanting to make a "donation" when really what they're trying to do is buy their name in lights on a top 10 website.

There's a little problem with that theory...

Let's take a look at ways to donate to Wikipedia...

https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Ways_to_Give/en

Amazon
PayPal
Moneybookers
Stock donations through Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

First, I don't see how they can claim that these are not commercial entities. All of these businesses exist for one reason, and one reason only. To make money.
Second, I don't see how accepting payments through these services is qualifies as an Wikipedia ENDORSEMENT of these services.

Bitcoin is no different in my opinion.

Who the hell cares?

I can do that right now! OMG BITCOIN WORLD DOMINATION! EVEN WIKIPEDIA ACCEPTS! JUST BUY AMAZON CODES WITH BTC THEN DONATE TO WIKIPEDIA WITH AMAZON!

That being said, I fully endorse Wikipedia's right not to accept a currency they don't want, regardless of their reasoning behind it and I suspect eventually they will accept it anyway, because money talks and bullshit walks. We don't need to be begging people to take the currency.

If they accept it, great.
If not, move on.

If you got a good product people will come around eventually, you don't need to advertise. Ever see advertising for pot? I didn't think so.

If they don't want to accept free money, that's their problem.

It kind of reminds me of this...

I think the reason why these people don't get banned is for their entertainment value.
76  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.70 btc for 20 bottles of anti-depressants on: August 11, 2013, 10:32:06 PM
well.. what should i say to them? Like if they ask me why i need them then what should i say what i buy with them?

Why don't you go ask the guy in the gun department at the Wal-Mart if he can help you pay for anti-depressants.

At least it will be funny.
77  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.70 btc for 20 bottles of anti-depressants on: August 11, 2013, 10:26:44 PM
"I will ask my cousins to help me out"

Ask them to buy some bitcoins for you.

Problem solved.

In other news, people actually gave this guy bitcoins?

~$940/ounce if you buy all 5.

80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crowdfund Homes in Detroit? on: August 06, 2013, 05:44:57 AM
I think Hollywood should just buy up Detroit and use it for post-apocalyptic movies and TV series.

It'll be cheaper than making the sets, they don't even have to touch anything.
