Wallet appears to be back up and running. Successfully staked and rewarded after 2 shut downs....Back on the band wagon.

Viva le greencoin!

Nice 1, cranky

Well, I was doing some testing with Ahmed and one of the commands that is supposed to work seems to officially "break" the coin for awhile. It probably creates a tx that the blockchain won't allow to be added, I am guessing, so it disrupts the mining for awhile until it somehow gets passed it. You can see where it happened between blocks 210042 and 210043. This is pretty significant. It may even be what happened back in May when things started breaking with regards to the staking, as long as someone was trying the same thing I did, I am sure this could've occurred. I'll post more if we can get things fixed soon.

not syncing...
For the windows wallet, is it quatloo.conf? the file name is not a specifically called out in the OP. Any nodes to add perhaps?  Huh Huh

we will probably have to let yobit go and get on some other exchanges as things progress. Sorry it has been slow, everyone thanks for your continued support.

Emporer - I think taking a page from Cranky's idea, you could dump the private keys for all the addresses in your wallet and simply start a fresh wallet from scratch. If it syncs you can import the privkeys one at a time?
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: October 10, 2016, 09:13:37 PM
It might be worth telling Yobit that the blockchain has been working acceptably and all they need to do is simply re-sync and they'll be on the correct chain. There might be additional issues going forward, like before, but there might not be. When we get the new coin tech out we'll probably expand to other exchanges at that point as well.

Greencoin website is down and email to Chris comes back undeliverable!

where did you send the email? If it was sent to contact@grcoin.com, this goes through google so the website being down probably shouldn't have affected it. greencoinproducer@gmail.com can also be used.

this thread is not moderated, no comments are ever deleted. not sure what this means - maybe you deleted your own?

The website went down - it was due to the web server not communicating with the DB server. The payouts for 10/7 and 10/8 were not calculated because of this. Producer's: please put in a reading for 10/9 (between now and 4:00 AM UTC on 10/10) and I'll take these and average the production for 3 days, and pay the coins for 3 days all together. UPDATE: THIS HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETED

Coin updates - Ahmed's indicated he may not have the complete skills, and definitely not the time available, to move the coin forward. He suggested another dev so I am taking a look at getting this started. The coin is "OK" for now - if we expand I would still be wary of the previous issues but it seems to be working for the current purposes.

Digithusiast - those coins we're paid out to producers. It had built up for awhile and I paid it all in one big lump in arrears. FOUNDATION COINS PAY PRODUCERS VIA RENEWABLE PRODUCTION PAYOUTS ONLY. This has always been the case, and always will be.

Web updates - the most immediate update on the table is with the web. First is the front end, and then a back-end move over to AWS. This will allow the web dev and myself to begin to add new functionality and such.

OK guys, I got current on all of the Producer payouts and will try to make sure the payouts continue daily from now on as before. Updates are being baked in now, so sit tight.

I like Cranky's referral system but it does change the current "rules" of the Foundation, which is all Fundation coins go directly to Producers for carbon reduced production pro rata to the Producer's calculated production based on their meter read. So we would need to officially change the rules. We haven't really done that in the past so maybe we need some sort of official voting mechanism to do so.

I know everyones been waiting for updates. Wanted to give some solid news first.

I'm currently using the dash codebase to create a new POS compatible codebase for greencoin. Managed to get it to accept the genesisblock. But its slow and long work so i will get it finished slowly and get it released for everyone after ive finished developing it and testing it

Ahmed

thanks ahmed - I also reconnected with the web developer who wants to help (he recently just had a baby) and we talked about how we take the next steps.

For many weeks now only 2 wallets are staking over 1 million GRE a day. This is the largest wallet: GeJw1g1rgTax56otxkFFsETMvzWFZHETAX
I think it is owned by Chris or mrbodz as it has an outflow of 1600+ transactions. A "normal" wallet would not have so many outgoing transactions.

You can check this on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gre/ under tab Largest wallets. The largest staking wallet is currently number 11.

Chris and mrbodz, what is going on?
Are you the ones staking?
Why is nothing being done about this unfair staking?

Which is the other wallet?

This is the foundation address. I talked to Ahmed last week and he said he had some time this week, and he would update, but I am waiting for him at this point.

An updates mrbodz/chris ?

I chatted with Ahmed last weekend. He may have some updates soon. He's the only one working on the fork at this time.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: August 10, 2016, 09:15:23 PM
Crapola! For Prodcuers - I put in the wrong block number for the 8/9 daily payout. Will fix tonight. I gotta go in to the actual database and regen the entire transaction, and be back on track. I've had to do it before, it's no big deal, but just letting you know the timing.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: August 10, 2016, 09:08:17 PM
Hey guys, yeah, the staking is so bad I've stopped trying to stake at all.

With Ahmed back from vacation and in-pocket we can see what kind of timeline he might be able to do on a fork, which should fix the issues.

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: August 08, 2016, 06:25:01 AM
Hi Guys

Was away on holiday and without internet. Over my holiday I've been working on getting a gitian dev machine running. Going to spend whatever free time i have trying to get the new coin compiled using gitian. Which if i can do, means any development updates will only need me to do since i can compile QT's with ease.

Ahmed

Ahmed - I hope you had a really great vacay. You totally needed one. Cheers
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: August 03, 2016, 06:32:23 AM
Hey Guys, Update here. Still not managed to get QT Wallets built yet. Going to gather some BTC and hire someone to make me some for GRE.  Once they're ready to be built i'll give everyone an exact fork block/date. RE: The staking behaviour. That is something I've noticed which i don't have a reason for yet but i'll look into it more when i get time

Ahmed

When can we expect the hardfork date?
Any feature/dev/marketting additions with this update?

What about a new start rather than working on the current one?
May do a fundraising campaign too via any crowdfunding.
What you devs and producers think?

I can;t speak to the coin dev (ahmed hasn't been around for awhile) but I'm working on web this weekend and I'll invite any interested folks to the slack channel as well.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: July 22, 2016, 06:04:34 AM
cranky - also on payouts I'm not 100% sure where the blockchain security is at any given point so I err on the side of knowing I can get the payouts out securely and that has caused some delays as well, depending on what the block explorer is telling me.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: July 22, 2016, 06:00:40 AM
Ahmed, I'm noticing a special behavior with the wallet app during the last few days.
The app disconnects automatically, being in the right blockchain, but stops staking.
If I restart the application it starts staking immediately.
Note: Stays in the same blockchain even if staking halts.

payouts: when traveling I don't get to them everyday. Once we are bigger I won't miss days, but I don't think 12 people are going to worry too much about it.

Ahmed and I have been discussing this issue for awhile. The hope is next week's fork fixes it for good.

Along with the fork I'm also hooking up with some web guys this weekend. A fork/web reboot will go a long way with re-engaging with the total effort.
