It's the 14th... were any new pictures posted?

Modminer MMQ may be the best miner to buy right now

Isn't it the only FPGA that you will actually get right now within a reasonable timeframe?

I am surprised so many people think BFL is legitimately a scam..
65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL is shipping out August FPGA orders on: October 13, 2012, 04:33:12 PM
According to pics I've seen, the actual chips come from somewhere else but they are assembled and tested at BFL's main labs.  I've seen pics of them working on those 2-chip ASICs and inspecting them and stuff.  They say assembly and testing of the ASICs will happen at the same time too.

I would hope that BFL is going to at least hire temp workers to help with assembly upon ASIC release.

You know, one page on their website says they'll be out in October, another used to say Nov/Dec, yet another says Oct/Nov, and another asks themselves if they'll come out in October then answers it Tongue

Our ASIC based products ranging from 4.5 GH/s to 1,500 GH/s are currently scheduled for availability in November, 2012.
-----------------------------------------------
So will the BitForce SC product line REALLY come out in October? This is a fair question.  Let's review our track record.  If you're not aware, our initial product, the BitForce Single had a slow delivery cycle. (that's about all the further you need to read that paragraph, lol)
-----------------------------------------------
Butterfly Labs, INC. is accepting pre-orders for ASIC based products, expected to begin shipping in late October or early November 2012.

My personal expectation is no ASICs anywhere until Q1 2013

Is there any reason to  anonymize the order #'s?

I was just too lazy to back in to the website after I had forgotten to crap the number D:

No, but BFL as an entity is limiting it's contact with Bitcointalk.  I'm speaking merely as myself and as a pool operator.  On the rare occasions BFL intends to interact with this community, I will post as BFL_Josh.

Will be interesting to see if this improves or hurts BFL's current reputation.

Are you asking him to predict how quickly the next 350 units will sell?

No, but they don't make the boards. There's a couple possibilities here, one is that they have enough cash on hand to just order 1000 boards regardless of the state of preorders. It's not like they'll have trouble selling them if customers start receiving them in early December. The other is that they don't and won't order a unit in the first batch until they get a preorder for it. If that's the case, then at some point in order to meet their deadline they have to say "We have 800 preorders now, go ahead and make 800 boards and ship them to us." I'm asking when that date is, if it exists at all.

1000 seems like a minimum order quantity to me to be honest.. but obviously I don't know the conditions in which Tom is purchasing/making these units.

I've had problems trying to figure out cgminer quickly. It seemed like it would be simple, but setup was not intuitive to me and the help file were poorly made (I think the format examples in the help file were wrong). I had no idea from where to run it...command promt or a window. And trying to disable the GPU using helpfile examples didn't give me any indications it was working in the DOS window (though I still wasn't even sure was the right place to run the program).

Anyway, it didn't take long at all to lose patience with it. A friend told me he used bitminter, and found it from a link on BFL's website. Starting it was just toooo easy and using it's interface was intuitive. So, I've been using it ever since with no real problems.
You should try BFGMiner. Generally, you can simply run it, enter pool info, and it just works.

Thanks for the feedback. For now, bitminter has been working great..and hopefully Tom will work with them. It might seem trivial, but it just might make the difference on whether I make another bASIC vs. BFL purchase.

Sounds like you are using windows
following this guide you can have cgminer running in about 5 minutes from a .bat file
https://ozcoin.net/content/win7-cgminer-setup-guide
you can use the same .bat file with any pool just change mining url, user and pass to the one you want to use

on my dedicated mining rigs I drom a shortcut to the .bat file in the startup folder and cgminer starts when the rig does
and that is just one way to setup and start cgminer Smiley

You forgot to mention that you named that shortcut "FREE MONEY" so that your wife knows what button to click in case of a crash Cheesy (or was that someone else?)

At least they finally said something that made sense and stated they will be outsourcing their first set of boards. That will actually significantly reduce expected delay (in my opinion) as setting up all the fab pieces, getting people trained, making sure everything works properly and to spec is a significant undertaking.

Good Morning,

It's October 10th 2012

Today's Agenda:
  • Going down to the new office space and work on getting it ready
  • Talk to web developers about when the new site will be ready
  • Ask the engineering firm if they can get me some graphic renders of the board for website launch
  • Customer service later this afternoon

I will be out of the office this morning, need to start working on the new office space to get it ready, the business line will be forwarding to my cell if anyone needs me or has any questions.
I will be doing customer service / answering emails when I get back this afternoon. If you dont want to wait for an email please by all means give me a call.

See you later and have a great day! Smiley

Tom,
Will you be helping out mining pools and software developers soon by providing information on your equipment so they can get their mining software ready for your hardware? I'm no expert, but it makes sense to me  Tongue

I use bitminter and hope that your hardware works with it's java based mining software.

The lead developers of both cgminer and bfgminer have been contracted/promised to have compatibility with their miners before release of bASIC. I don't know about other systems...

79  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: High Efficiency FPGA & ASIC Bitcoin Mining Devices https://BTCFPGA.com on: October 09, 2012, 03:07:38 AM
we arent even close yet to chip / board availability limit (which btw is right around 1000 units) to be available to ship with the first batch.

The first "batch" is scheduled to begin shipping the first week after thanksgiving. I have probably only 2 people confirmed so far to help out, I still have to interview others and depending on our order load come the end of November I may need another 3-8 people to work 1-2 weeks.

As I explained before this is really the only bottleneck, the supply of hardware is available - but it will take some man power and man hours to get these loaded with firmware, tested, postage printed and shipped out the door.

Hey Tom,

I just wanted to let you know that my birthday is Nov. 29th! Hint hint wink wink! Maybe I can get something special with my 2 bASIC orders? Cheesy

Stablehost is another host that has been working well for me with good uptime.
