if they are regular 7870 it's ok, if Le or Xt then they consume almost as much as 7950 ie 250W each. Grin

this makes no sense. "by the time most people have them they won't hash any better than GPUrelatively to the difficulty that GPU faces now compare to what ASIC will have to face, peoples predict a rise of 100X of the difficulty before all ordered asics are delivered". there is absolutely no logic to this statement.

According to this page  http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp   Recommended Power Supply with the above hardware is 661 watt . so i choose the abvobe psu .

any suggestion ? will that psu work? for the selected hardware no . how about the motherboard or the gpu

if you are mining litecoin  please do post your hardware spec if possible

thanks in advance.
70  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Building my first rig... on: April 14, 2013, 08:09:53 PM
GPU - Fine
CPU- Fine if rig is just for mining
Ram - 8GB, if just for mining is OTT.
Motherboard - You can add a 2nd card, but not for gaming.
PSU-Fine.

You can probably 650mh/s with an overclock, probably on stock volts. More if you up voltage. Overclocking is also a lottery.
600 kh/s or so depending on OC. Maybe more/ maybe less, depending on oc.

Rig is just for mining, I have a 2012 macbook pro for every day life which handles my level of gaming.

Could save 20 quid by dropping to 4gb, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-021-TG&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

But dont i need more ram than the graphics cards for LTC? in which case if i ever added a 2nd card I would have to buy more ram.usualy it's equal ram to vram for LTC and reaper only

How come a 2nd card wouldnt be ideal for gaming on this mobo?the second pcie*16 is only 1 or 4 x not 16, for gaming too slow but ok for mining

any where that I can save a little money? I would like to get this under £500 if possible. not much you already running without a case or dvd or Hd
71  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboard recommendation for i5 with 3x GPU? on: April 14, 2013, 08:01:02 PM
your case is more important than the mobo. you will need a lot of fans to keep 3 7950 cool. Grin
72  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Which mobo? on: April 14, 2013, 07:51:42 PM
with 3 GPU like that you will need to run open case or with riser, so any cheap  motherboard with 3 PCIe will do.

Of course, this system is overkill, by far, for mining.

It's also overkill for gaming, unless you have three 1440p monitors that you want to game on simultaneously.

And 64 GB of memory is overkill unless you are doing things like image process, rendering, etc.

you will need powered riser, a better PS, any 5 pcie motherboard

Merci!  Grin

Cordialement, Buyn.
