61  Other / Meta / Re: Merits could be a character molding. on: January 27, 2018, 12:25:26 PM
I am somewhere in the middle about Merit.  Definitely I see so many posts which are pure nonsense or repetition of what others already said.  It is crystal clear that they are making posts for the sake of posting but not to share any useful info with community. But at the same time Merit is very tough to achieve and its totally dependent on others.
I feel we have to find a middle ground.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: US forum? on: January 27, 2018, 04:54:54 AM
Given that the US has its own regulations and restrictions, especially concerning ICOs, a US forum seems like a decent idea to me. It doesn't necessary have to be the bulk of the site's posting. It can just be a subforum for pertinent US discussion.
That sounds much better than OPs post.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: US forum? on: January 27, 2018, 04:46:02 AM
Not meant to be racist (though I don’t think that’s the word you’re looking for here), but rather just curious...perhaps it’s just me, but 50% of what I read doesn’t make sense. For those native English speakers...is it just me?
I have read many posts here on bitcointalk that are poorly worded sentences, with lots of grammatical errors etc. but with little effort I was able to infer what the posters intended to post. Moreover as other users pointed out this is a global forum and every body is treated equally.  When you say " Forum for those native English speakers", it sounds like somehow you are priveleged.
64  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Time Frame on: January 27, 2018, 04:20:58 AM
it depends on the type of trader you are. Day trader are typically looking at the shorter time frames like a 5 minute chart.

A swing trader may look at a 4 hour chart. The hold for a swing trade is 3 days to a week...

Position trade will most likely look at the daily chart. Holding for over a month...
This is the best answer.  I would like to add that I even look at tick, 1 minute and 3 minute charts when I am daytraing.
65  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to start trading ? on: January 27, 2018, 04:13:21 AM
There are several different Trading styles like Day trading, Swing Trading, and Long Term trading( investing).
Daytrading is the most difficult kind and can be lucrative if done right.  Its a skill like any other skill based activity such as music, basket ball etc. It needs lot of practice. It might take few months or few years to become a skilled trader.  Best way to learn is to watch charts experiment with different indicators, then open an account on an exchange like Bitmex and start trading small until you gain confidence.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ABT] ArcBlock - BORN FOR BLOCKCHAIN 3.0 on: January 27, 2018, 02:41:39 AM
I haven't any body post in this thread that they are verified. Could somebody please let me know if they got verified for the KYC yet?
It is concerning that it still says "verification in process" when I login.
I am really excited and looking forward to this ICO and I don't want to miss out on this.
Thanks in advance.

67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with CoinsMarkets.com? on: January 25, 2018, 04:28:20 PM
I have been optimistic until now, but it looks like the guys over at coinsmarkets.com were just buying time and had no intention of resuming the business.  At this point I have no hope.  The only reason I opened an account at Coinsmarkets.com was to buy Electra.  According to Electra's website, we could stake electra coins at Coinsmarkets.  It was an indirect recommendation from Electra.  There must be some relation between Electra and Coinsmarkets I am guessing.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ABT] ArcBlock - BORN FOR BLOCKCHAIN 3.0 on: January 25, 2018, 02:06:45 PM
I am looking forward to participating in ARCBLOCK Ico.   I have submitted KYC documents almost a week ago.  When I login into Arcblock.io, under account info it still says Verification in process.  Wondering if anybody here got verified already and if so how long did it take. Is there any thing else I need to do?  Thanks
69  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: One more leg down - price to 8000 - 9000 area? on: January 24, 2018, 04:31:42 PM
Looking at the price action, I don't think Price is going below 9500 any more.  It tested that area many times and bounced right back up. But anything can happen in any market as we are talking about HERD mentality and its hard to predict the mass psychology.
Having said that the best way to go about buying it is averaging down when it gets close to 10k .
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ABT] ArcBlock - BORN FOR BLOCKCHAIN 3.0 on: January 22, 2018, 08:24:21 PM
I am wondering how long it would take for the KYC process as it has been four days since I uploaded the information and it still says its being processed.
I am really excited about this project and I don't want to miss the opportunity to participate in ICO.  I strongly believe this as one of the best.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ACT] Achain - A smart contract platform for enterprise-class DAPP on: January 22, 2018, 06:21:14 PM
I tried to download and sync the wallet.  It ran for more than 24 hours but wallet never synced.
I don't want to keep my ACT tokens on the exchange as I have had bad experience recently with Coinsmarkets.com.
Could somebody point me to how we can store AChain coins in our private wallets.
Thanks in advance.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VeChain Discussion on: January 22, 2018, 04:09:26 AM
I just taken profit from this token and i would like to buy again in cheaper price, i think the price will down a few days more when ETH and BTC going up. Vechain is good project because they has concept to verify some other product of brands from counterfeit products using blockchain technology. In my opinion the price still able to going up 10 times in longterm.
I bought it around 3 bucks.  Its so strong, I don't see any correction until it gets to 12 to 15 dollar range. The minute Bitcoin and overall market starts going up, VEN will explode to the upside. You will be lucky if you can buy VEN again at lower price. Yes price will much higher in the coming days and weeks.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! on: January 22, 2018, 03:44:58 AM
I just invested most of my savings in crypto, and I was very unlucky with timing as the market crashed/corrected the day after. But there is nothing I can do now but wait and hope. I am trying to plan my portfolio...

I have been gathering info and researching for weeks, but the more I research the more I find new coins, and it gets a bit overwhelming and confusing. I have quite a few coins I am interested in but probably too many. I just can't decide!

I am looking to hold things long term for the most part, and only leave 10% for speculative trades. I don't want to watch charts all day like Ive been doing and lose my life to crypto!

So below is my proposed portfolio, but very open to change. Any suggestions welcome, especially if you think I have one coin that is almost certainly better than another and in direct competition.

BTC – 4000
ETH – 4000
LTC – 2000
XMR – 800
NEO – 800
OMG – 1000
ICX – 1000
STRAT – 700

XRB – 600
VEN – 300
WTC – 150
WAVES – 200
REP – 200
XLM – 250
REQ – 150
IOTA – 200
XZC – 150
ZEC -100
GNT – 230
ETHOS – 200

Any help very much appreciated.
Your proposed portfolio looks well diversified.  For biggest gains you have to look for coins with good projects, low price and low market cap. In that perspective VEN XRB REQ ETHOS WTC look good.
But take a look at which I would say are extraordinary opportunities like ACHAIN, Rchain, Aelf, Quantstamp, Chainlink which have very low price as well as low market cap and all of them have nice potential.  Also check out ICOs such as Arcblock.io and Pundix.
Don't worry about overall crypto market going down as its part of market movement and its very difficult to time your entry.  Invest in good coins and check them every few weeks.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Managed $2K to invest, pls help on: January 22, 2018, 03:27:57 AM
Hello Coingurus,

I have been a silent visitor of this site. After reading so much about BTC and coin frenzy, finally managed $2K and have decided to invest. According to my research, here is what i have decided to invest in. I would appreciate if coingurus can help me if this table is good or not so good.

1. ETH - 30%
2. LTC - 20%
3. XRP - 25%
4. VEN - 25%

Thank you  Grin

You can diversify a little more into coins such as
ADA ELF ACT QSP REQ LINK etc may be by investing 10% into each.  Also check out some upcoming ICOs like ARCBLOCK.io which has huge potential.
ICOs offer opportunity to multiply your investement 10X or 20X very fast.

76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Arcblock will be No.3 on Coinmarketcap? on: January 20, 2018, 04:41:05 AM
Do you think Arcblock with blockchain 3.0 will be no.3 on coinmarketcap in the future?

Arcblock is an excellent project but becoming no.3 in terms of marketcap might be a long shot. But in crypto space anything is possible.
77  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we ever see 20k+ again? on: January 20, 2018, 02:13:05 AM
Every market like stocks commodities Interest rates etc see corrections upto 75 % which doesn't mean that they will not go back up higher and history proves otherwise.  These corrections in fact are healthy. There can be many many factors behind these moves.  Bitcoin being the first crypto with early mover advantage and with improvements like Lightning Network in the works, Bitcoin will keep growing and will see new highs in the near future.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good cryptoexchange? on: January 19, 2018, 02:04:31 PM
My favorite exchanges in the order of preference
No. 1  Binance -  Variety of coins, with huge volumes
No. 2  Bittrex  -   Lots of coins, with not as much volume as Binance but still has good volume
No. 3  Kucoin  -   Low volume but very small cap tokens which are still not on big exchanges.

Had a bad experience with Poloniex where my coins were stuck for almost a week with fake transaction IDs after the withdrawal.
Although I got my coins, I got scared and never used poloniex again.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Crash! on: January 18, 2018, 03:20:11 AM
Hi, I have been observing Bitcoin prices as well as the prices of other cryptocurrencies and currently it is on a steady decline. I think Bitcoin is crashing down fast opposite to December 2017 prices. It is expected to dive below $10,000 in a weeks time and I know some people who invested in Bitcoin when it was at $10,000. Is it still advisable to hold on Bitcoin? Not only bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies as well are affected as well. I think this is due to some countries Banning or trying to regulate Bitcoin and Trading of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies! Still would you Sell or Hold into Bitcoin? Thanks for your input.
Up and downs happen in any market including cryptos.  Bitcoin went up so much so fast, it was bound to correct. Bitcoin will go much much higher in the coming months.
But whether to hold or not depends on an individual and his/her circumstances. Otherwise its one of the best investments any one can do.
80  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Number One Reason NOT to invest in Crypto on: January 17, 2018, 02:27:00 AM
Most of us have invested hard earned fiat money and time into trying to make gains in Crypto.  The recent price spikes have validated our enthusiasm for crypto.  We trade, invest long term, stake our coins, study, and wait.  What is really going on here?

The entire crypto universe is being driven by thieves.  They steal coins from users and from exchanges.  Apparently there is nothing that can be done.  They are free to have their way and there is no limit to what they won't do.  That sounds a lot like taxation.  Criminals are driving crypto, and by investing in crypto, time and energy,  you are helping make rich, people who would steal everything you have and leave you to die in the street.   How many billions in Crypto have been stolen?  The thieves just stake and hold our coins, that they stole, and you still use the coin paying the network fees that go right back to the thieves that took your coins.

You want sovereign money.  The last thing you want is money that is in a network.  Network money is a really bad idea. You will be robbed and then you will turn around and feed the ones who robbed you in the first place.  It's not right.  At least with fiat there are rules.  There are no rules in Crypto, and by the time rules ever do get put in place, if ever, the criminals will be at the top.

The scum rises to the top and all the idiots feed the filthy greedy children, that can't just invest in a good coin like everybody else.  Their mantra is "Me Me ME!!!"

Just because you CAN hack someone's computer and steal their passphrase, doesn't mean that you should. But apparently their are no repercussions, no laws, no rules, no honorable men, so the jackasses continue with their malware and trojans and you know what?  Fuck it.  I'm out.  I would rather have fiat in a real bank than this bull shit.

These were my coins.  ARDOR-HKCS-V6N8-FH7T-A3SLF  Worth about a quarter of a million dollars on the day they were stolen by someone who hates his fellow crypto users.  He probably thinks he is real smart.   He will sit there and stake my coins and you idiots will reward his behavior by using this coin and giving his coin value.

This jerk still has a chance to return the coins to their rightful owner, but why would he?  Does a piece of dog shit not stink?  Once you say goodbye to a conscience, it's gone forever.  There is no turning back.  You can go about your life thinking pretty highly of your self.  But the world knows the truth.
Sorry for your loss.
If you can tell us how you lost it will help us all what not to do and protect ourselves.
So I request you to tell the whole story, I will be thankful.
