Zero active connections on Windows wallet. Is there some other configuring I need to do?

Just came across this: aurmarket.is
Nice to see some infrastructure rolling out.

Merge-mined makes a coin at zero-cost coin. Essentially worthless bi-product.
I'm not sure why being zero-cost would make something worthless, or why adding cost would make something worth more. Isn't worth set by the intersection of supply and demand? Merge-mining doesn't increase the supply (if I understand it correctly) and should actually make the secondary coin worth more because it would be more secure than if it were mined alone.

My understanding is this project ended when Shopify started allowing its merchants to accept bitcoin.

Balduro please tell us whats next for Auroracoin. Something you can pay for with AUR in Iceland?

The unfortunate fact remains that unless Iceland does some sort of official AUR census and asks every single household whether they claimed and received their 31.8 AUR, we might never know if the dev has been laundering and siphoning AUR from the premine into random undisclosed wallets that he and his team hold to dump at a slow and controlled rate to keep the market from crashing and thus maximize profits because of the extreme lack of liquidity of AUR. There is still a huge potential for scam surrounding AUR because of the lack of transparency; and I don't think that will ever really change.
Potential for scam and actual scam are two entirely different things. We have to work with the world we live in. No one has yet offered one iota of evidence that a scam is being perpetrated here yet, but evidence does exist that the airdrop is proceeding as advertised. If you're looking for guarantees you'll have to call the FDIC.

Of note also, it appears that Balduro is actually delivering the Air Drop as promised. I cannot 100% verify that yet and the method he used screams scam. However I am not above admitting mistakes and it is certainly appearing that Balduro has made the all time mother of implementing the right idea with the wrong execution!
More to come on this as I dig deeper.

Well I didn't see that one coming. Kudos to BCX for being the man and admitting his error.

Other than because it is a scam, why would a SHA-256 alt-coin not be designed to be merge-mined with bitcoin?

Scam coin
You'd better tell all the people on here who seem to be using it: http://aurcoin.is/And the 1300 members of the Facebook Auroracoin buy/sell group

This is terrific. As one of those early bitcoin adopters I am looking for crypto-related investments and will definitely keep an eye on this.

Hey retard, you forgot to add my avatar in this bad photoshop LOL
In addition, I don't show my online status.

That is so funny. On a different note. I am completely amazed at Auroracoin's resilience. I was sure it would be practically at 0.0000000.... right now. It is steadily going down, but has totally burned away as I thought. Not nearly as many people dumping as I had thought. Considering there isn't any place to actually spend them in Iceland, the only useful thing to do with them at the moment is dump. Sooo, what is going on? No, army of Chinese hackers managed to get through into Iceland's IP addresses yet? That was the moment that AUR just lost the tiny, tiny, tiny bit of credibility it might have once had.... What is going on is a load of badly burned investors who can't / won't face the facts and get out of AUR while they still have a small percentage of their initial stake. Anyone who buys into AUR from here on in.....I've got some Gaelcoin for sale, if u want a change of country Why do you think that photoshop was done by an Auroracoin supporter?

Please explain how Icelanders are to acquire BTC, LTC, or DOGE.
Isn't Iceland one of the best places in the world to mine? Geothermal to generate electricity, cold climate to not need to waste electricity on air-conditioning, I thought it was one of the mining Meccas everyone wished they could relocate their mining operations to? -MarkM- Right. They can mine, they cannot buy. Do we now expect that everyone must be a miner to participate in a meaningful way in the crypto economy? Does ZeroBarrier never buy and sell bitcoin, LTC etc? Is he such an objectivist hard ass that he feels he must destroy anything that smacks of charity? The airdrop, which despite weeks if accusations has shown no sign of being a scam, is a terrific way to put a lot of crypto in the hands of a geographically concentrated group of people. It is conceivable that this will lead to people actually using it to **gasp** transact, rather than merely speculate. This isn't about charity, it's about moving cryptocurrency forward.

I don't understand the vitriol and shadenfreuden going on over this.
Auroracoin had the potential to really help the Icelandic economy, and is a public shop window for the potential crypto currency as a whole. This undermines the prospects for every cryptocurrency.
OK, I mean no disrespect for the Icelandic people, but I'm fucking sick and tired of hearing this shit regurgitated over and over from the AUR fanbois. Neither I nor many other users here are from Iceland; and this may be shocking to you, but we don't really give a flying fuck about the Icelandic economy. If the Icelandic people don't give a fuck about their own economy enough to correct it themselves, then that's their fucking problem. Cryptocurrencies are designed by nature to be universal. If they really want they can fight their government to use any of the other of the great cryptocurrencies disposable to them such as BTC, LTC, DOGE and so on. But hey, guess what, they fucking don't. Why? Perhaps they don't have the fucking nerve to stand up for themselves. We'll fine by me. No skin off my back. It could be argued that the dev created this to scam BTC into his own pockets, it could also be argued he created this to try to get the rest of the world to financially support Iceland (as if any sane person would willingly give money to some poor saps in another country for free, hilarious); God knows there evidence pointing to both, but regardless of that national cryptocurrencies aren't fucking needed. Let me repeat that for the reading impared, national cryptocurrencies are not fucking needed. Please explain how Icelanders are to acquire BTC, LTC, or DOGE.

balduro posted this, embarrassing.
WHERE did balduro post this? Looks to me like you're trying to set him up as an amateur photoshop artist.

June 2011 isn't so new. Means he arrived after the giant speculative run up. So maybe he's here because he is drawn to the fiat, not the technology.
Is BCX about hardening coins, or hardening his wallet?

I meant the dev Balduro; which no one knows his real name, physical address, how old he/she is or even what he looks like.
This is different from Satoshi how?

Like what? A counter on a website indicating how many AUR have been dumped since air drop? You know what, that's a brilliant idea. People are so gullible that they'll believe anything; they'll eat it up. Like putting feces in a candy raper and telling them it's chocolate; it's genius I tell you.
LOL a candy raper? That is an interesting picture! I can see it with a donut, maybe.

Glad to be of public service!
~BCX~
BitcoinEXpress, please update your public service announcement now that the airdrop has begun. For instance, you could provide evidence of the developer dumping coins and making millions, as indicated in the OP.

Wow, lot of negativity on here, yet no suggestions of a better way of executing an airdrop. Kudos to Baldur. Even if this is a total flop, he has led the way and others can build on this experiment. However for every seller of AUR there is a buyer who is willing to hold for longer term. Because they know this isn't a 3 day experiment. I remember when BTC were less than 10 cents and I still have some I bought back then because that experiment isn't over yet either. The majority of the population segment that has been cut out of the airdrop (35yo+) because of the validation chosen (facebook) is also the same segment that owns the majority of businesses. I am guessing they might be a bit put off because of this alone.
In less than 3 minutes after reading your assertion I was able to determine there are 116,000 people on Facebook who claim to live in Iceland and are aged 35 and over. And there are 220,000 people on Facebook who claim to live in Iceland and are 13+, so in fact more than half of the people that can participate in this experiement are in your segment of the population that are 'cut out of the airdrop'. I can't think of a more efficient way for one person to execute an airdrop at such low cost than using FB to validate, can you? Sure there will be fraud. This is a project that involves humans. If you're looking for perfection let us know when you build it.
