It's over.  Hide your cards, sell your wife.  It's going down like the Titanic or like KFC's stock on a promotional free chicken day.

I'm loving every minute of it!!!!!   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Anyone know what happened to the 10,000 bitcoin bid wall at $11 dollars? Did they pull out because of the high risk of actually having to buy all those coins at $11?
603  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low can we go? on: August 03, 2011, 05:52:30 AM
Bitcoins should never have went as high as they did, right now the price is way high for what you are buying.
604  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELL EVERYTHING!!!!! on: August 02, 2011, 07:53:34 PM
Do you think those bid walls, say the $11 dollar bid wall is people actually wanting to buy bitcoins at that price or do you think that is people trying to hold the price from falling too low?

606  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELL EVERYTHING!!!!! on: August 02, 2011, 07:27:24 PM
Depends if that buy wall at 11.5 is fake or not.

What wall at 11.5? there is no wall?

Seems like they are building their defences at the $11.00 dollars with over 5000 bitcoins bid wall.
That seems the last wall that they can put up now, they are losing the battle for the single digits.

607  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELL EVERYTHING!!!!! on: August 02, 2011, 07:14:29 PM
But, if they go too low mining will become unprofitable =( grrrrrr...hopefully miners start droppin off and difficulty lowers for those that still continue to mine hehehe..
Mining is dead...
Unless you have some customized gear, and thousands of dollars... And even then you may never pay back your equipment.

How is mining dead? Last I looked as long as the bitcoin was above a few dollars which was about the cost of electricity mining was still profitable.

There is no easy way to make money in this world, you just can't run a stupid computer and expect it to generate you money so easily.
608  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELL EVERYTHING!!!!! on: August 02, 2011, 07:07:57 PM
THis is great, bitcoins should be cheap and affordable for all!

Shore up the Ask wall into the $12's, don't let them force the price back into the 12's, we need the new psychological level to stay in the $11's for a while.

609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alternative Indications of Price Trends on: August 02, 2011, 03:46:51 AM

before the next big price increase, which could take us to the mid-40 range sometime around August 8th.

LOL, mid-40 range by August 8th. Your right that we are heading back to previous months interest levels,  you specifically said mid-may. Do you know the price range in Mid-may? try around $5 dollars, that is where we are heading.

I do not know how you can analyze all that information and conclude we are heading back to previous months interest, which is much lower, and then expect to have a whopping price increase in such a short time when interest is falling and probably will continue to fall.

your analysis proved one thing, SELL SELL SELL, interest is falling and we are heading back to mid-may levels, and will even go back to further lower interest levels.

610  Economy / Speculation / Re: A lot of bad news recently for bitcoin, IMO it is going to start to hurt. on: August 02, 2011, 03:21:00 AM
Good points about the penny stock. What has really changed in a year that makes bitcoin worth $30 or even $13? Really nothing has changed except it was hyped up with a few major news articles.

I wish I would be able to short bitcoin.
611  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like the 13.5 bid wall is holding up. But for how long? on: August 01, 2011, 11:42:03 PM
Looks like the $13.5 barrier is finally not able to hold anymore for a 2nd time. I must admit it fought well and I was thinking it won for a while as the price pushed into the 14's and stagnated around high $13's. However, the battle for the single digits is hardly over.

If the price manipulators (a few people who putting up big walls and buying so the price will not drop) can't hold it from falling into the $11 dollar range this will be a clear victory for the bears and the price should push into the single digits.

I believe that the price manipulators will throw every last dollar they can in the $12 dollar range, so it will take a bit before they give and let the price fall into the $11's. It will be a long battle.

I think they will lose in the end and bitcoins will be cheap enough for everyone to own and make it reasonable to finally invest in it long term for people who came in late and want to own it as an investment.

612  Economy / Speculation / Re: A lot of bad news recently for bitcoin, IMO it is going to start to hurt. on: August 01, 2011, 11:25:41 PM
Bitcoin being so easily hacked is one of the big reasons I say that it will never take off. These hacks will continue and if the mainstream ever uses bitcoin, most of them will lose their coins.
613  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $20 again on: July 31, 2011, 11:45:24 PM
Scaracity and hoarding is the only tool that bitcoin bulls have.

I hear a similar story regarding De Beers and Diamonds.
Apparently it's working ok for them.

Yes, it seems to also be working to some extent with bitcoin.

However, when you compare De Beers with  Bitcoin, De Beers is much more controlled by far less people.
Bitcoins are owned by many people so collusion should not be so high.

Again, I still think that there are a few market players in bitcoin artifically holding up the price and causing the scarcity. I would bet that a few people are responsible for buying most of the bitcoins that are going on the market.

Will these few players be able to hold up the price of buying the marjority of future bitcoins for the months to come... I do not know if they would take the gamble with that kind of money.

614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $20 again on: July 31, 2011, 11:21:33 PM
What surprises me about the bitcoin price is how well it is holding around $13 dollars. I guess most bitcoin holders are rich tech savy people, who would rather sit with their coins to their death rather than sell them.

This is probably the reason why the price has not fallen. I can see this going on for a while, and bitcoin holders have already tasted the $20+ dollar range. Most are insane and blind enough in the idea to think each bitcoin is worth a small country. And shit, if I actually owned even 1 bitcoin, maybe I would be insane and blind also. Who does not want to be filthy rich.

Scaracity and hoarding is the only tool that bitcoin bulls have.

Most people interested in buying know that the bitcoin is not worth even worth $13 dollars a coin. They will be much more careful with their dollars.

So the price will be up to the horders not giving in and selling too cheaply. It will not be up to people actually needing or demanding bitcoin for any useful purpose.

I say in the end the price will be lower because every day there are still thousands of bitcoins being produced. With each passing day it will be a test on how long can you hold out when it becomes more obvious that the price is not going any higher.

615  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach 5-6 dollars within 1-2 months on: July 30, 2011, 07:01:35 AM
I predicted also that bitcoin should fall into the single digits, I have predicted this for a while now. I base this on the fact that bitcoin honestly has currently no real use. I also do not see it having any real use. The problem is that it is too easily hacked. It is too risky to use it as a currency as that may bring the government after you. Plus many other reasons which I do not want to get into.
616  Economy / Speculation / Re: No more free trades on: July 28, 2011, 03:18:55 PM
Technically speaking, the price of the bitcoin should go lower when you remove the free trades. The reason for this is simple economics, or more put it is like a tax. When  you now have to pay comission on a transfer, the price people will pay for a bitcoin will be lower.

SELL SELL SELL

617  Economy / Speculation / Re: Number of users connected to MtGox Live on: July 28, 2011, 03:17:02 PM
What does the number of users connected to MtGox Live mean exactly? Is this number good or bad?
618  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kook's Price Speculation! Backed by facts! on: July 28, 2011, 09:02:58 AM
To me it looks like the bitcoin price is holding on by a string. I am surprised it has held for as long as it has. It almost held on so long that I was thinking maybe the price will be going up. However, there are just so much negatives things going for bitcoin right now, and not accepting dwolla is a major one.

What I think will happen will be steady hold around high $13, then before we know it there will be a big drop in price. The drop will come quick not gradual.
619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Number of users connected to MtGox Live on: July 27, 2011, 02:30:44 PM
I never thought about this, but the bitcoin price is probably largely based on Dwolla.
620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Long, slow slide on: July 25, 2011, 05:47:31 PM
Realistically, the price seems to have leveled out for now.  It's roughly at mining cost; the mining forums indicate that running existing mining hardware is worthwhile, but buying new hardware is not.

Mining cost alone isn't enough to determine the price, but it does seem to have an effect.

Now that we've had a few weeks of reasonable stability, Bitcoin has more potential as a currency.

I know that the going trend is to state that mining has nothing to do with the price of bitcoins, however, I agree with you that I think mining cost has something to do with the price of bitcoins, probably more then most people think.

have you noticed that if you say anything on the forum about price of bitcoins and mining people will get all crazy like "Bitcoin price and mining has nothing to do with the price, you moron".
