No. That isn't the moral of the story.

The moral of the story is carry out a realistic appraisal in relation to other crypto-assets before you invest anything and arrive at your own valuation.

Back at the time you're talking about, Maxcoin's marketcap was never near what Paycoin's is now. Even at these prices, Paycoin is grossly overvalued.

A realistic cap right now, given Paycoin's horrendous legacy is somewhere between Vertcoin and Monero - i.e. a million dollar cap which works out at around 8 cents per coin or 0.00035 BTC.

That's the price below which you can start to "buy on the way down" with any hope of averaging out your losses.

Precisely. Anyone buying this now will be a bagholder. I do not think the ht cult will pour any more money into pumps. Moral is very low with the majority resigned to their loss. It is sad reading some of the posts.

I'm guessing 1.14 will fix most of these issues.  Download from Google Drive...

Thanks but the linux 64 bit wallet is 1.12.0

I have a totally different issue. I'm running the buntu 64 bit wallet 1.12.0.0 which is the latest I can find.

Mine says its minting and that I should "earn reward in 10 seconds". Its been doing this since the blockchain stalled and was fixed in Dec. Checkwallet and repairwallet shows everything as fine but obviously something is amiss.
I reinstalled the wallet with a fresh blockchain sync 2 or 3 weeks ago. Still no change. Dec.8 was the last time I received reward.

WTF are you trolls doing!? You're crashing the paycoin!!!!

I might as well buy some and dump it back on the cult later. Disclaimer: I am not Gaw.

Dear crypto world,

I told you so. Am I surprised. No. I saw this coming the day that GAW announced PayCoin. You shouldn't be surprised. This is just GAW being GAW. Josh isn't a smart CEO. What kind of person announces a new program without legal advice. He wonders why things are failing. Its his fault.

Josh Announces He Failed Again:
https://hashtalk.org/topic/30826/personal-note-about-tonight/1

This is preamble to bankruptcy imo.  The legal team news is, probably, not bs. Timing would be perfect to file.

Vancefox did an analysis on the paycoin blockchain. Here is one of his posts which pretty well sums it up. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857670.msg10146342#msg10146342

Just start from block one and look where the coins go... They split all the way down and whenever a dispersal happens the leftover goes to a completely new address.  This premine dispersal script, in my opinion, is designed to make it difficult to see exactly how many coins were not allocated to either "primes" or hashpoint conversions.

There very well may be tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of XPY spread out in small 100 coin or less balances that are being used to create pure profit through PayBase credit card purchases and/or slowly dripping into the exchanges.

This is my main concern about the long term viability of this coin. There is absolutely no accounting for all 12 million coins.

OMG. They have a suicide thread at hashtalk now. Poor sobs.

I know! What kind of prick posts something like that!  Wink

You would have posted your phone # if you really cared.  Wink

Looking at the train of events in the last 2 months; especially the sell off of hardware and closure of zencloud mining; one should now expect Gaw to file for bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy will protect him from litigation(for the most part) and he will be able to move on with little consequence. No one will know how much he milked from paycoin and it will be impossible to track.

As previously reported, we are reviewing with counsel the features of the Honors Program and what if any aspects of the program may require regulatory approval. We intend to proceed based upon advise of counsel and will provide updates as developments warrant.

http://blog.paybase.com/status-of-honor-program/

I think we can safely say this is the END of paycoin as far as Gaw is concerned. I don't think we will hear much more from him going forward. We will hear lots from the losers with the usual lawsuit and "lets track down Gaw" types of threads.

Perhaps the community can resurrect paycoin later on but they will have to change the name to shake off some of the scandal.

That is your conclusion? You do know that wishful thinking doesn't achieve anything, right?

PayCoin will eventually thrive. And the Honors program will go into effect ON SCHEDULE... your wishful thinking notwithstanding.

Hey Bud. The honors program is running a little late. Could you let us know the minute it starts so we can buy some really cheap coins to get in on this once-in-a-lifetime-offer? Thanks.

Paycoin appears to be a well executed scam plan from the start.

Kumala, if you're still there, have the decency to release the remaining funds. I can confirm that my account was locked a few days ago with no response from support. Password reset was locked as well. No hacking or funny business, just the site suddenly not working anymore.

Do you not know there are hundreds of us with *frozen* funds in Vicurex for 11 months? Vicurex has never responded to anyone.

613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin (XPY) is scam on: February 02, 2015, 04:24:50 PM
I stayed away from this and know very little about the coin, out of sheer curiosity, could anyone let me know how much the GAW CEO has collected from selling Paycoin? I read somewhere it was around $ 30 million, is that really what he has received?

I don't think anyone has been able to pin down the numbers.
Paycoin was PRE-MINED with a small portion set aside for miners. There was also an IPO/ICO that ran for months.
Not to mention the high percentage rates of coins produced by Orion controllers. I heard it was up to 3000% when it should have been max of 350%.

That is why PRE-MINE and ICO/IPO/ITO are dirty words in the cryptocurrency world. It is too easy for unscrupulous developers to put their fingers in the cookie jar.

Post 1505 in the emc2 thread mentions bobsurplus.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494708.msg5677861#msg5677861

I also remember he spent a lot of time in the Poloniex troll box at the time promoting emc2.  I have not had any dealings with bobsurplus but there does seem to be a lot of controversy surrounding him. Just so people are aware.

Nevertheless, this will die a slow death, the whole purpose now is to sell as much of the premine as possible that's been their goal all along, but we all know that.

I expected xpy to crash hard with the zencloud news and the latest Gaw announcement. It seems they still have hope the buyback honor program is happening.

If Gaw delays the buyback expect the gawtards retards intellectually challenged to pass the hat around to help Gaw pay the lawyer fees.

You mean the program that's supposed to start tomorrow that the lawyers are still "working on" today? No way that would be delayed.

I have a bridge for sale and hashtalk is the perfect place to sell it!

Dear Vertcoin Community

The Einsteinium Foundation is working closely with other coins to form a crowdfunding platform that will accept cryptocurrency and fiat. http://www.crowdfundingpr.org/10-cryptocurrency-communities-unite-form-powerful-crowdfunding-platform/  We are currently looking for coins with active communities to join the project and help make it a big success.  This kind of project can help cryptocurrencies to be recognize by the world outside of the our CC world. The more coins involved the bigger are the chances that it can become a turning point in the CC revolution.

All of the coins involved will benefit greatly from the project

Djnocide
Board Member of The Einsteinium Foundation

Bobsurplus still involved with Einsteinium?

I watched the first few episodes of Arrow and then abandoned it. It was more like a day time soap opera.

One of Gaw's biggest mistakes is banning customers and investors from hashtalk.  You take their money and then shut them down when they ask questions or make comments you don't like ... hello.
Nothing like adding fuel to the fire. These unhappy campers have no choice but to vent and discuss in other venues like btctalk, gethashing, reddit, etc.

They complain about btctalk over at hashtalk but they created their own monsters.

Not too bright.
