601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Bridging the Gap Between the Centralized and Decentralized World on: November 11, 2017, 10:48:13 PM

I've been debating on whether or not to respond to Brandon or not...  Sorry, but this doesn't sit well with me.  MiningHabbit has a legitimate comment, and has expressed concerns that many of us might have.  The response, in my opinion, was in bad taste.  The concern isn't about who's working hard, where the price is at right now, nor the DNotes philosophy that we believe in.  I think most of us here, appreciate the business model, and the overall ecosystem that will be built.  That's why we're here, and want to support this project.  We do believe in it.

I would say the concern or question is more about how the timeline got pushed so far out.  Maybe in a brief explanation, if someone can give us a little more detail about what's going on.  Just saying, from an outsiders perspective, this is how it looks;  Almost 4 years to code a coin and as of the beginning of September, launch was only a few weeks away.  One would think, the team would know before that, if that timeline wasn't reasonable.  Especially going from 3 weeks out, to now 5 months out (from beginning of Sept).  What happened?  Also, could you shed a little more light on who is working on the coding?  Again, just not knowing the team details, the impression that comes across to me, is there is one person, maybe part time?, who is doing this particular work coding 2.0.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  One more question that comes to mind; I know you guys have been busy laying the foundation for DNotes, what specifically does this mean?  Is this just idea's on a white board?  Any actually development in the ecosystem?  Maybe you can get a little more specific on how far along, or what is in place, besides just launching 2.0.

I look at this more as a chance for everyone to understand DNotes in better detail, not as a bashing thread.  Admittedly, I might have missed some of answers to the above questions..so sorry if that is the case.  Just whatever you guys can share along these lines, could help us better understand what is actually in place right now, and give us a better understanding, and confidence in this project.  For me, I'm still excited for Dnotes 2.0, and can't wait to help spread the word.  I'll be buying some way undervalued Notes in the mean time.  Much love everyone.

Hi Denver Dan, thanks for the questions. I will do my best to answer them all, but let me know if I am missing anything or if the progression and goals are not exactly clear.

While we have had minor changes, block reward changes, bug fixes, and upgrades to the existing DNotes blockchain, this does not represent 3+ years of cryptocurrency programming. We have taken a cautious approach cryptocurrency programming and carefully planning our next moves when it comes to upgrades, and in this case and entirely new version of DNotes, which we didn't decide upon until 2016. Also, we needed to ensure we have the right people in place to make that happen. A tremendous amount of effort and time has gone into finding / working with / investing time and money / narrowing down.

As the industry continues to grow, we need to fully understand what is happening, what challenges the industry is facing, what do users of cryptocurrency need and want, and what all of the other cryptocurrencies are doing. This is the research that ultimately led us to developing the next version of DNotes and many of our projects that we have either launched or working on.

The DNotes vision is much more than just a cryptocurrency technology. During that time, we have also created entities to help DNotes and DNotes Global Inc achieve their goals.
The DNotesVault, which fundamentally addresses the technological issues involved in owning cryptocurrency, without compromising security. This is a novel system for storing DNotes and I'm positive it's an industry first in many aspects.
CRISP, which DNotesVault was a fundamental platform for, as an outreach program and savings program. I'm certain this is an industry first in many aspects as well.
CryptoMoms, our initial project to help bridge the gender gap, but also represents a much larger initiative to make cryptocurrency as inclusive as possible. The vision for what CryptoMoms evolves and is rolled into has not been yet implemented.
The Four Pillars book, which the rights have been gifted DNotes Global Inc and as a result to the success of DNotes, and corresponding membership site. This will be a critical component in reaching out to business owners, NextGen VC, and the DNotes outreach program.
DCEBrief, which is our industry news, industry outreach, and media platform associated with the DNotes brand and ultimately will work it's way the DNotes Global Inc network as a for profit entity.
Among other projects that are currently in the planning and development phase.

DNotes is an industry leader in many ways that may not be quantified by how many upgrades we have made to the cryptocurrency itself. With some careful planning and execution, DNotes will be seen as a leader from the technology standpoint as well. Since we started working on DNotes 2.0 in 2016 planning and designing, and officially announced it may of 2017 with the starting of this thread, it has been one of our primary focuses. We've had many bumps in the road and delays, but we are not going to focus on those, we are going to keep our focus on the goal of moving DNotes forward.

Thanks, Joe. I think that is a reasonable response and as you know I am deeply appreciative of your relentless efforts and hard-work to help us make so many things possible for DNotes.

However, I think it important to address Denver Dan's concern that we shed some light on the software development of DNotes 2.0. To that extent, I can confirm that we expanded our team early last year and specifically hired a dedicated programmer, we believe most qualified, at the rate of US$60 per hour. Based on our records the first check #1005 was issued on April 5, 2017 for the amount of $1,500. Since then we have spent a significant amount out of our own pockets - and may I say quite rare in our industry.

As I have mentioned many times, we do not make any claim that is not verifiable. However, there are privacy issues that we respect. Without elaborating, there were two family emergencies that added to the delay. Above all, our wish list grew in anticipation of future projects.

I hope that helps clarify things a little more.

This has been a rough week. I hope we don't extent it with more "friendly fire". We must be respectful of others opinion and expression. We are all in this together for the mutual benefits of everyone.

Bittrex costs around 3btc.

Hi Dimitry, thank you. I believe you were referring to this: https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/202583854-Submitting-a-Coin-to-Bittrex
If so, I think that is just a optional marketing add-on to highlight your coin once accepted to their exchange.

No thats from 2014, it costs around 3btc..

Hi Dimitry,

The coin submission request looks like it hasn't changed since 2014 (it's the same one on their updated website). The 3 bitcoin is to have your coin spotlighted... For $21,000 it better be a pretty bright spotlight. lol

"Given the demand for currency launches, we limit ourselves to only a handful a week.  Launching is free and at our discretion.  If your coin passes our compliance rules and you'd like to get additional marketing in our platform, we offer the option to spotlight your coin for 3.0 BTC."

The closest I was able to find for an actual cost was a tweet from goldblocks, https://twitter.com/goldblockscoin/status/777836316545388544, stating it would cost $5000 for compliance check in 2016.

It a good thing I took a look through their site before I said what I thought of their $5,000 compliance fee.  Grin

Apparently the compliance fee is to protect themselves legally and only applies in certain cases. There is a list of what they research to see if a coin is what it says it is, and will not cause them a legal headache in the future. If and when the time is right to get listed on Bittrex, it may be a good idea to submit a DNotes dossier that answers these particular questions (if applicable) before they are even asked. They can't come back and ask for $5,000 for questions they already know the answer to.  Wink

What is a compliance review?https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/227902667-What-is-a-compliance-review-

In our guidelines about submitting a coin to Bittrex for listing, we have a clear statement that describes what is or isn't permitted on Bittrex.  Bolded for emphasis, "Note that we cannot list currencies where its primary purpose is to support illegal gambling, illegal drug sales, or any other activity that is illegal in our jurisdiction.  We also cannot list currencies that would be construed as a security such as digital currencies that promise/market profits or represent shares of a company.  At our discretion, we may require an additional compliance fee for listing.  These happen in the extraordinary cases where your coin's use case is extremely complex and requires significant research by our staff to determine suitability."

These rules were broad guidelines developed to minimize the legal risk to Bittrex and our users from an over zealous government regulator or prosecutor.  But as business models for blockchains evolved, we felt that the rules could have the unintended consequence of stifling innovation.

Instead of telling developers "no", we began to offer an option of a compliance review that would help defray the cost of the research needed for inclusion on Bittrex.

The research can consist of any combination of the following (and possibly more):

1) Background checks on the principle owners of a business launching a blockchain

2) Verifying that a company is registered; i.e. if you say you are registered in Dubai, we may check that you are

3) Understanding the business process; i.e. if you say you are handling gold and storing it securely, we're going to walk through every aspect of that process

4) Code reviews of technology that we're not readily familiar with; for instance, if you write a whole blockchain client in Erlang, we'll have to hire experts to help code review it with us

5) Applying the Howey test to your token to understand whether or not it is a security

6) Determining if the token violates any CFTC guidelines

7) Understanding how/if US laws apply to your token.

The compliance review fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee inclusion in Bittrex.  You may fail.

Thank you, Chase and everyone for posting helpful information relating to our efforts to get DNotes listed on other exchanges. I am actively looking at different options and pursuing various avenues including some of my LinkedIn contacts. I am less concerned about the cost than than the timing as we get closer to DNotes 2.0 launch. Beyond that we will have more options.

Remembrance Day / Veteran's Day - November 11, 2017

Thank you to all past and present members of the armed forces for your service.

We will never forget.

Thank you all armed forces veterans for your service to this world.

Ultimately we are all fighting for survival in our own unique way. I like to think we have been allotted this privilege by heroes of generations past, who put their lives on the line so we can all continue fighting in a more peaceful way that provides everyone the opportunity to succeed. I would like to pay tribute to all nations who are commemorating the heroes who were taken before their time and those who who continue to live with the scars. I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on their sacrifice, whether your country observes Veterans Day, Remembrance Day, or Armstice day, please take time to pay respect to the millions of people from many nations, ethnicities and religions, who banded together and made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Thank you to all veterans for your service and putting their life on the line to fight for your country.

“Ultimately we are all fighting for survival in our own unique way.” Thanks, Brandon.

I believe we are, and that can be a good thing. At times we must protect our own self-interest before that of others, including the defense of our own nation, self, family, friends, and for that matter DNotes. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, like most people would when emotionally charged.

At the end of the day, I still believe, like I always have, that it is better to fight for a worthy cause in unity with other like-mind individuals than otherwise as the case may be. I like to think that together we can change the world for the better. But it is too rivetted and may take generations to dismantle. Meanwhile, I am convinced that collectively, we can make a positive difference using DNotes as our weapon of choice because of its ability to be truly far-reaching worldwide.

Happy Remembrance Day / Veteran's Day!

It will take some time, but in the long run Dnotes will be very high, because the product they will deliver is something very great.
How can you tell? We can't really know when they will deliver their product...

Feels like we are just going down Embarrassed
DNotes has been developing a solid track record for the past 4 years, I'm sure that this is what Hindafing was referencing. Quite often people are attracted to flashy gimmicks and empty promises, investing their hard earned money in people who promise "the moon", but in the grand scheme of things are really just a flash in the pan. DNotes is working to build lasting wealth, it is not a get rich quick scheme that will blow smoke up your ass to trick you into investing, like some other projects do (whose teams are usually woefully under-qualified to manage such a large sum of money). DNotes does not release half completed projects, and in my opinion it's better to be a bit late than release something which is full of so many bugs that it has to be hard forked/patched continually.

To be fair to the assessment of Ben.Lock, development doesn't occur in a vacuum. Expectations for delivery were set previously, and delivery has been delayed in the context of such initial expectations. Does DNotes need developers? I sit next to one of the top 10 computer science Uni's in the world, and could certainly recruit some talent (was just talking with TeeGee about one such new s/w eng grad yesterday) to help.

Right now, the market is holding our feet to the fire. Accept that. And accept when other stakeholders do as well. Don't just lash out at shitcoins. Sure there are plenty of those, but that is defensive posturing. I, too, have invested hard earned money (7.78 bitcoins, to be precise), all into DNotes; in addition to my proceeds from mining NOTE during a large part of 2014. On what so far has been a lot of promises as well. There have been promising threads that have taken shape - a significant twitter following, a brilliant 2.0 roadmap, DCEBrief, CryptoMoms, conference leadership appearances, etc. But the real value being unlocked is still just a thesis, and we cannot forget that.

So when expectations for release timeframes aren't met, that doesn't feel good, given such a context. Hopefully the team can see how stakeholders are hurting, and release 2.0 before February, which frankly, would be disappointing given where I thought things were in the Summer.

I get the point about quality. Obviously, you need to release good stuff. But there is an ethic in Silicon Valley of "move fast and break things" for a reason. The entire concept of "ship it" and "minimum viable product" exists for a reason. Because backers of software entities know that there will always be problems with the code, and if you wait until it's perfect, the release never happens, the market window closes, and the entity suffers, possibly fatally.

Hi Nick, I know you mean well and have been of immense help to us a number of times. They are always well appreciated.

As I mentioned recently, we are planning to aggressively expand our development team in 2018. Initially, the bulk of the software development was centered around DNotes blockchain with full conversion to C#, related projects, and global payment systems. We did not plan on starting work on our full-service exchange until the fourth quarter of 2018. A feasibility study of a full-service exchange is now on our front burner along with DNotes 2.0 initial launch. We could start working on it early next year.

I know University of Illinois well and had dealings with them in the past. Their computer science department is top notch. Our biggest challenge is competing with other well-funded employers with very deep pockets. I am sure you know that we are not quite at that level. Nonetheless, the right candidates committed to our cause could end up doing very well. Your challenge is to line up interested candidates to meet with me. I trust that you will do your best. As always it will be very much appreciated.

Just one comment on your other points. We take our fiduciary duties very seriously and will not knowing take shortcuts that could compromise the safety of DNotes and our stakeholders' assets. I rather take a few shots for holding the ground.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Bridging the Gap Between the Centralized and Decentralized World on: November 10, 2017, 07:18:35 PM
I was just browsing through some old DNotes posts, and came across one Alan made about valuations that is very important. DNotes market cap was only around $25,000 when this post was made, but it is just as relevant today as it was then.

I am not a stock analyst but this is my take on valuation. DNotes like all the other Altcoins at its formative stage are pure speculations. No one with any financial discipline should invest any more than what they could afford, potentially a total loss. I am in awe taking notice of some other altcoins showing a market cap of $500 + million hours after its launch and  dropped down to $200 million in 24 hours. There are no fundamentals to support even a fraction of that value. Yet like mindless zombies many little guys with a few hard earned dollars are taken to the cleaners again and again.

If DNotes were to succeed as the digital currency of the future with lasting value it has to take a very different path to reach that mountain top. It must build a solid foundation, block by block, systematically, while executing its strategic plans at the most opportune time which may often conflict with that of speculators.  Long term stake holders of DNotes or any other Altcoin , for that matter,  are merely securing an opportunity to share the potential of the future value of the currency they believe in. If they are right the “buy-in” value will go up. Sometimes, at the early stage, active stake holders are given a chance to increase their stake through “sweat equity” and even help to shape the future of the investment they believe in. Given the opportunity, I normally prefer to have some participation in the value creation process of my investment. Hopefully, many stake holders will see this as a unique opportunity and participate to the best they can.

Thanks, Brandon. That was one of my first posts, a few weeks after DNotes was launched (Feb. 18, 2014)

One of the questions for discussion next week at the World Funding Summit in LA is " How to evaluate risks in investing in ICOs and cryptocurrencies and spot bad actors?"

With a long career in the business world, I have certainly encountered a few bad actors and lost money in the process. Fortunately, the loses were not large enough to wipe me out. However, they were expensive lessons learned.

As former President Ronald Reagan put it best, "Trust but verify". Don't always believe what people claimed. Always check it out. If there is nothing out there to check and verify, it is probably worth nothing or very little. Don't just fall for the excitement of the moment and jump in with both feet. By all means, do your home work first.

Past records and representations are good predictors of future conducts. Look for pattern of behaviors. As a rule people are very consistent with their behavior. Though, no one is perfect, and there are things beyond one's control, but nonetheless, should not be a constant blame game loaded with excuses.

However, if there is a track record, as in the case of DNotes, check for consistency of messaging and delivery of promises. Did we mean what we said or represented? Did we delivered what we promised? DNotes has left a very large foot-print that can not be erased. It is one that is easily searchable and verifiable. Thanks to you all for creating all that contents. It is one that we all can be proud of.

606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Bridging the Gap Between the Centralized and Decentralized World on: November 10, 2017, 05:00:43 PM

I have just ended my long term relationship with Poloniex, dating back to April 5, 2014 (when DNotes was first listed there). I transferred all of the DNotes I had there (that I used for occasional trading, but mostly to help people get into DNotes) to a place where I can trust the people in charge - DNotesVault. I even sold all the bits and pieces of other currencies I had on the exchange (forgot all about them), and used the bitcoin to buy DNotes. Without DNotes being listed at Poloniex, the entire exchange has rendered itself useless to me.

I tried to find some information as to whether or not there is standard requirements for maintaining a listing on the exchange, but there is not. The closest thing I could find is this blurb on what it takes to get a coin listed:

"We don't have a definitive set of criteria as each project is unique. We listen to the community and select projects that we believe are unique, innovative, and that our users would be interested in trading. We also look for products that have strong (organic) market demand."

I'm not sure what their definition of unique or innovative is, but surely the only currency that has chosen to take a different path (even if it is a lot more work), meets the normal definition of unique and innovative.

On a happier note, it is incredible to hear from supportive and loyal community members that believe in DNotes.  Smiley Smiley

Wow, Chase. I am speechless.

I trust that we all have seen very successful businesses faded away at the highest point of their success. Why? Most of the time they forgot that they became successful because of their customers. One of the “Four Pillars” in my book is “Your Customers”. It is one of the cornerstones of business success. Collectively, DNotes and its stakeholders who have an account at Poloniex are their customers. They obviously failed to consider us as a group or the long-term impact we could have in our industry. If that is truly the attitude, we will survive, and they may stumble. I am disappointed but still wish them the best.

DNotes is different in many ways. Among others, we treat all our stakeholders as our valuable customers. We treat them all with ample respect and appreciation, irrespective of whether they own one DNotes or a whole lot more. It is the consistency of our attitude that matters. If we treat one of our small stakeholders badly, we established a “consistency” or the capability to treat others the same. Once taken for granted it becomes habitual until it is too late. The competitor just took over the top spot.

I hope many of you will have a chance to read my book and watch some of the videos. I have every intention of helping as many people as possible. That is one of my major contributions to DNotes and I trust that it will go a long way on our road to success.

Short-sighted and selfish decision can cause a lot of grief and pain to others. This time it hit close to home. Our community has spoken. We shall overcome and remain true to our vision as we continue to build a unified culture worthy of mass support. Once we start gaining momentum, we will be unstoppable. Join us and help spread the words.

Precisely Alan. Forgetting customers can be a grave mistake, especially in an environment where there is ever-increasing competition. It benefits few people to appraise things "in the moment" as opposed to wha something will become in the future. The presumed strategy is that when that "in the moment" situation changes in the future, that they will renew the partnership and cater for those same customers. However customers remember, and may become attached to the competition.

DNotes community really good, I basically read every comment, but my English is not good, do not like to leave a message here, I believe many people like me, like to read in this community, but not in speaking here, this community treats every customer as polite, courteous and equal, and there are many talented people here who are working or mentoring for DNotes.

Poloniex was from the trough and hardships long time ago, is now on track, But abandon his most loyal client, DNotes. feeling poloniex is so overbearing now.

Before my impression of poloniex has been good. Now I may have to rethink. Anyway, where does DNotes go I will go with it.

Seriously, now the exchange so much, without poloniex's listing a had not any discouraged, because had a lot of choice, and the end result poloniex will also lose some important and loyal customers.

PS: My English is not good , translated by Google.

Thank you dogemoon8888. We understand your message completely and are very proud to have people like you in the DNotes community.  Smiley

"However customers remember..." - It's funny that I can forget things like my own phone number after moving too many times, what I went downstairs for, where I parked my car, etc, but I NEVER forget poor customer service. It is extremely difficult to win back trust after a blunder like this.

First, I agree with Chase, “I NEVER forget poor customer service. It is extremely difficult to win back trust after a blunder like this”. I used to respond to almost all the posts on this forum because I believe that you all are important to our success - you are our valuable customers. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible. We are growing with more and larger projects. But I certainly try to remember as many of you and your contributions as I can.

Second, thank you for your support and confidence in DNotes, dogemoon8888. We understand you perfectly. In fact, I am impressed, especially by your long-term view and your great ability to see the big picture. I remember responding to one of your posts earlier (see below). I did not want to disagree with you that “Dnotes value must be higher than the ETC” any time soon. So, I tried to explain how it could be possible and let the readers reach their own conclusion.

The fundamentals of DNotes today have not changed, as much as the value of DNotes has fallen significantly. I would have written the same post with adjusted values.

Quote from: dogemoon8888 on July 13, 2017, 02:01:52 PM

I have always been concerned about every item of Dnotes, each of which feels great, the current price is too low, if the developer continues to improve the value of the increase, Dnotes value must be higher than the ETC, that is now the price of 50 to 100 times Between, worthy of long-term holding, can ignore short-term fluctuations.

Quote from: Dyna on July 14, 2017, 02:58:26 AM

Thank you for your confidence in DNotes and our team. I share your frustration and will say that DNotes is significantly under-valued. I will be a fool if I agreed to sell just our ecosystem, including DNotes Global, Inc. (25% owned by DNotes’ stakeholders) for $$7,304,692, as valued by CoinMarketCap at the time of writing. It would be like selling Google or Facebook for that amount during their first year of operations. Essentially, zero value is assigned for our ecosystem – the most valuable driver towards mass acceptance of DNotes as a supplement to global fiat currencies. Yes, it is a big bold endeavor and we are the only team totally dedicated to make it happen – and we will. Everything that we have done is real and verifiable.

Wait, if we have only DNotes – the digital currency like our industry peers and spent all the money and time pumping up DNotes the value of DNotes perhaps would be worth many times more than it is today. In my opinion, our industry, as a whole, has a rather confused judgement in sorting out value investment.

Why is DNotes so different? Because we believe that digital currency is the future of money (not fluff and puff thin air). The one to succeed must meet and exceed the full functions of money as a unit of account, a store of value, and a medium of exchange. And there must be fundamental or intrinsic value behind it.  For it to happen, many challenges must be overcome, and many problems solved – hence it requires a complex ecosystem and substantial investment.
So, what is the difference compared to what everyone else is doing?

We all started with the same OEM (original equipment manufacturer) engine – (Satoshi Nakamoto Bitcoin engine) and changed the name plate with a few bells and whistles added to it. Without doing much more we claimed that it will magically be accepted as the transport vehicle by the masses. We don’t think so. We believe that for it to gain mass acceptance, we must use the amazing engine to build a great car along with highways, gas stations, repair shops, etc. This takes a great deal of time and investment; few in our industry would care to understand or take seriously.

Our vision is to build DNotes as a trusted, purposeful digital currency accessible to everyone world-wide to supplement, and ultimately replace fiat currencies. How much could DNotes be worth one day – well your guess is as good as mine.

I've Held All My coins!! I wouldn't have it any other way! Dnotes is one of the only coins I personally truly see being around for many years... they'll be others just hard to know which ones especially after regulations around the world kick in. Things are well thought out and theres an active vision. Yes Yes we had a set back, to be expected in this type of technology. It is a Bummer but lets just remember what happened to our friend Bitcoin in the Mt Box incident.. and where is the price of bitcoin 6 years later(long term)? I think anyone that held it up till today is happy. Think if you sold on that crash and never got back in how much you would be kicking yourself today. Dnotes has so much going for it its amazing were having this set back but quite frankly I personally don't see it effecting the long term outcome by any means.

I love to see how much everyone agrees how stupid of a decision Polo is making, Yes our volume is low but theres reasons for that we all can agree if the team was bigger the expansion would be faster and more PR would change things. BUT there would not be the quality control as the foundation is set. there will be a time and a place and I agree that you should never invest more than you can loose. Even though I put Most of Btc portfolio into Dnotes over the last 3.5 years I have no regrets if anything I've learned a lot from this valuable forum. And if they succeed I will retire in my early 30's if not then I keep working and take my experience with me. Either way I'm gaining to a degree.

Team your doing great I wish 2.0 would be sooner as well but it is what it is, no worries. I really hope Alan that your ready for your seminar next week. I wish you luck and know it will go great! I Really wanted to go but I can't stir the cash together. I'm 100 miles north in Santa Barbara, I was planning on hopefully using a few Notes but I dont think id want to sell that many at the current price. Going to Hawaii the week after and I'm penny pinching after my Jury Duty these last few days. Anyway team thanks for being very active on this forum and keeping us updated!

Great response Mrbum805, I'm glad you're as confident as we are. While development setbacks are common in tech industries, they do remain frustrating. You're quite correct -- the only thing that matters is where you finally end up. The first module of DNotes 2.0 is the beginning part of implementing that plan, which focuses on improving how the DNotes economy functions, and starts our first synergistic integration between the DNote ecosystem's components, with the first being the integration of the secure storage and saving plans into the payment platform.

Yes TeeGee I have much faith in the team! I don't post often, but when I do I never have any idea what to say but the words just start flowing. I couldn't do that if I didn't believe in how far this Vision could actually go. Its an awesome arrangement that could thrive very well in this world if implemented in the right fashion. Dnotes is the only coin that I am aware of trying to accomplish anything to this degree. In my opinion its being done the right way if you truly want to be acknowledged globally and on a wide scale (wide net as its been said). I am a firm believer that one day (years down the line) Dnotes will set the guidelines for others and people will study how it was accomplished. Let alone you have a Dnotes Global that can teach it to others once the foundations finished and the walls and roof are up. Lets just not have a leaky roof when the storm hits and nothing will stop it! lol

Very Very cool.. Cant wait for this Expansion and the bright future to come after this hiccup Polo created

That is inspirational. Thank you, mrbum805. It is because of people like you and many others, who could be like you, but yet to discover us, that give us the will-power and tenacity to do what it takes to make our vision a reality.

DNotes is a grass-root movement based on the fundamental belief that a trusted purposeful digital currency built with a clear and cohesive vision for the mutual benefits and participation of everyone is the best tool for us to make a positive impact. Yes, by strategic design, DNotes is casting a very wide net so that anyone who believe in our vision can participate. That is the pathway to global mass acceptance.

Nonetheless, it is a mighty ambitious goal of global scale. It must start with a solid foundation and a small group of people who share our vision and believe that our missions are worthy of their support.

As much as it is frustrating, disappointing, and downright painful to be delisted by Polo at the worse time, it is also rewarding and inspirational to see how our community come together to voice their opinion and reaffirm their support and commitments to see us through. What is most refreshing to me is the general confirmation that we are on a worthy mission worth pursuing.

Joe and I will be leaving for LA Thursday next week to attend the World Funding Summit where I will be speaking. This is a terrific opportunity to get the words out. I am well prepared and looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, we are actively exploring all options to get DNotes listed on other exchanges. Any help from our community is welcome and well appreciated.

Thank you all for your support and words of encouragement. You are my inspiration. As much as it is painfully frustrating, this is a short-term setback. We will come out of it stronger and less dependent on others. It’s been a long day. I will continue tomorrow.

It is a sad and disappointing day for DNotes. And the timing of Poloniex delisting DNotes could not have come at a worse time. I thought that we had friends at Polo, at the highest level for almost four years. Obviously, that made no difference – not even a courtesy notice. We have written to them to shed some light as to why DNotes was among the three they took to the chopping board. Let’s see if they care to response.

This is a temporary setback but shall not impede our long-term commitments or success in our industry. If anything, I am personally even more determined to give DNotes all I got to ensure its success. I trust that many of you share that sentiment with me. It is not changing my outlook that DNotes will be the rising star in 2018.

We are contacting other exchanges for the possibility of listing DNotes. Realistically, the chances of being accepted before DNotes 2.0 launch is quite remote. Nonetheless, we will do whatever we can to explore that possibility. Any viable help from our community in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Our best guidance at this point is that DNotes 2.0 will be launched in early 2018, as early as February 2018. In the meantime, you may want to move your DNotes to a different exchange, (Cryptoia, C-Cex, and Novaexchange), DNotesVault, or your private wallet.  Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

I'm a little ashamed to say that I don't really understand the upcoming Bitcoin fork as well as I should. I suppose since I'm not marathon training, I spend a lot less time listening to podcasts, which are almost always crypto-related.

I appreciate the people on this forum's opinion. It will be deep, and not waxed of with self-serving BS opining.

That said, what does this article mean?

https://medium.com/@jimmysong/segwit2x-game-theory-scenarios-part-1-7f863904a72

It looks like the focus of the article is surrounding the implications for miners, block times, price and profitability. The bigger issue to me is what will emerge as the new bitcoin and how will people keep everything straight.

For the sake of argument, let's call what we know as bitcoin / BTC today as B1X and Segwit 2mb as B2X.

At block 494784, if B2X is supported by more than 80% network it will be activated. Estimated Nov 15. If it does, and all signs point to it being activated, from there as long as people are mining both chains with enough hashing power for it not to be abandoned before the next difficulty retarget, which is again highly likely, and we will have 2 again versions of bitcoin.

So what the article was addressing mostly is how the difficulty mining either chain will be higher. B1X cannot adjust itself quickly to a massive change in miners, so until the next difficulty retarget, it will likely take a lot longer for new blocks to be mined, if 10% of miners are still mining B1X, it will take them 10 times longer to solve a block. B2X will start with the same difficulty as Bitcoin, so if it maintains the majority of the hashrate it will have much faster blocks, but not 10 minute blocks, if they have 90% of the network it will take roughly 11 minutes to find the next block.

Now, onto the bigger issue to me topic...

What is the new bitcoin / BTC? If you owned an exchange, you would have to make a decision. You could call B2X bitcoin / BTC, and relabel B1X. Or you could call B1X bitcoin / BTC, and call B2X something else, like B2X.

How will the regular people be able to keep track of all this, what exchanges are calling what BTC / bitcoin, and are all exchanges on the same page.

Disclaimer: There are many possibilities and no one can predict what will happen exactly, this is only my best estimation of the information I have available to me.

Thanks, Joe. Very well explained on the technical side.

Personally, I believe that the split is unavoidable. It is damaging to Bitcoin as the leader of a confusing industry to begin with. That is the price we pay in a leaderless decentralized system where self-interest (verses common interest/goal) rules.

I recognized this challenge at the founding of DNotes and decided that it is important to have a group of dedicated individuals with sufficient self-interest to promote and protect the best interest of DNotes. There is no perfect solution but we are convinced that DNotes has the best solution for a reasonably long-term. Hopefully, by then DNotes will be very successful and well grounded with a purposeful and unified culture where common interest for the benefit of everyone rules. Frankly, that is our dream and why we are so different and willing to do so much more than others would bother with.

Deutsche Bank Strategists: End of Fiat Money in Sight?

https://dcebrief.com/deutsche-bank-strategists-end-of-fiat-money-in-sight/

There is a real danger, but not anytime soon. And it may not be Bitcoin but a digital currency, like DNotes - built to meet the full functions of money and positioned for everyone worldwide to participate.

The mounting debts of nations with an unending desire to print more money out of thin air is a very serious problem. Economic cycles are dynamic, they can be managed to remain more favorable for an extended of time within limits, but always evolve and change. The next cycle could be a period of high inflation and high interest rate coupled with a loss of confidence in their governments to manage and service public debts - already too big to fail. A wide-spread change of confidence and sentiments globally could be troubling. Now that there are options to diversify into other asset class like digital currency it is an appropriate time to take a serious look at DNotes.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1924858.0

To those thinking about joining DNotes, https://dnotesvault.com/ take a look at the vault balance and you will find a community that believes in this project long term.

I have large sums in the retirement portion of DNotes vault. Some locked in interest bearing addresses until 2021. I believe.

Great idea, great people.

Hello CryptoJohn, great to have you stop by!

We appreciate and value your confidence in what we're going to be achieving over the next few years. 2018 is already shaping up to be a significant one for us, when we will begin to execute many of our plans that we've had from the the very first days of planning, four years ago.

DNotes 2.0 upgrade will see all DNotes Vault accounts earn interest from the DNotes block reward, and all retirement accounts will be changed over to that type of account, without a lock in. We're very pleased with the saving incentive that we have created with 2.0, which ties into many of the investment / savings plans (retirement, students, employee benefits) that we've created over the last 3 years in recognition of the importance of personal saving to stable economies and personal financial health.

There are many more exciting things to come.

Happy to see you too, CryptoJohn. I know that you have been around for a long time. We certainly appreciate your participation and support for DNotes. With DNotes 2.0, DNotesVault will be playing an even more significant role. We expect the account balance at DNotesVault to increase substantially. That will be one of the key indicators to watch for in 2018 to determine if DNotes is going to be successful. With rapid growth in account holders and account balance it will make it very compelling to professional investors to consider DNotes as a viable long-term investment candidate - giving us a solid foundation in migrating to other financial services including a full service exchange, bank, partner banks, online lending, global payment services, and multi-currency card.

DNotes is a very large scale global project built with great strategies, strong commitment, and relentless tenacity. Now that we have a solid foundation, our next move is to aggressively expand our team with increasing global projects. Feel free to PM me if you have the interest and strong skill-sets to help propel DNotes to the next level.

All, we need some suggestions and comments on how to get DNotes into the hands of many people after the launch of DNotes 2.0. What kind of promotions would you suggest and how would we execute them?

On February 18, 2018 DNotes will celebrate its 4th birthday. Thanks to your support we have built a solid foundation to propel forward aggressively. There will be many opportunities for qualified individuals to join our team, especially those with proven development skills in digital currency, digital currency exchange, and blockchain technologies. Preference will be given to those highly skilled in C# development willing to relocate.

We are also gearing up to promote DNotes globally and love to have your participation. Feel free to share your ideas and proposals. This is our turn to shine. I am all in.

Moas Forecasts Bitcoin Price at $11k in 2018

https://dcebrief.com/moas-forecasts-bitcoin-price-at-11k-in-2018/

forecasting bitcoin price is a tricky piece of business, with reliability often questioned

Welcome to DNotes, Spaniarder. Our industry, at this stage, is the most speculative among anything that I have encountered in my life time. It is mainly based on fear and greed. Majority of the investors are in it to make "quick" money and run away with a profit if they are lucky. Unfortunately, such environment is ideal for bad actors to exploit. Invest with caution.

Being a global phenomenon, it is difficult for regulators to keep this in check – even in the name of consumer protection. At least not any time soon. However, over the longer term, it will settle, and our common rules of law will prevail – not that I like more government interference.

At DNotes we believe that there is immense value in building our digital currency as a true replacement for global fiat currencies; starting out as a supplement. There are many prerequisites that must be met including building a trusted name and making it accessible to anyone worldwide to easily to participate.

Thanks for sharing, MiningHabit. Very entertaining. I like the short video clip too, when the old man (AG) said "The United States can pay any debt it has because it can always print money to do that." We have added $ trillions to our debt since but with that kind of mentality it does not matter.

The citizens of the world never had a choice. With Bitcoin and other digital currencies like DNotes - now we do. With your support we can make DNotes a truly viable global currency option - the freedom to chose between the old and new money.

Easily the best part of that clip is the look on the other guest's face after Greenspan uttered the phrase. He looks like he just saw a ghost.

The other guy is Austan Goolsbee, Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago and former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers during the Obama administration. He might be thinking “Do you have to expose such a naked truth?” Normally, Alan Greenspan is quite "measured" with what he says. I was quite shocked too.

Hey, thanks MiningHabit. I got a good laugh out of it and thought that you and TeeGee are quite a team - quick and knowledgeable on wide-ranging subjects. I enjoyed spending time with both of you. Looking forward to your continued support and entertaining clips.

TeeGee and I were on a roll last night on a Facebook thread. The conversation must needs be reproduced here.....

My original post: "Oh hey there Bitcoin Cash. Have yourself a week."
TeeGee's initial reply: "The good Bitcoin  Smiley"

Me: Disagree. If we had to rank order bitcoin blockchains, it's definitely bitcoin gold for me  Cheesy
TG: My favorite altcoin is the dollar -- 100% pre-mine, no coin limit, off-chain settlement, great dev team.

Me: Great dev team. The best.
Me: For example, this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6vi528gseA
TG: I heard the USA just got a new developer?

Me: Yeah we did. But there are a lot of shadow devs behind the scenes too. Can't audit the blockchain b/c there is no blockchain explorer.
TG: I've been playing with blocks since I was two or something, and these people still can't work it out.

Looks awesome BTCWise!

Excellent work! I love it. Thanks a lot, BTCWise.

Hi Dyna, Thank you very much for the wonderful feedback. I am glad you loved the design. I am happy to contribute my time and skills towards the success of DNotes. You guys are doing a wonderful job btw.

Almost 70 videos with transcripts and bullet points are being produced for the membership site with a completion date of 12/31/17.
This will be followed by an aggressive PR campaign and supporting advertisement. We are offering free membership till the end of 2019. A monthly membership fee of $10 will apply thereafter. 100% of the revenue including book sales will go to DNotes Global, Inc.

Could you please tell me a bit more about the membership site. Is this a DNotes related website and what will the content be? Also, I would like to offer my transcribing services for the videos.

Im looking forward to hearing from you. Regards,

Thank you very much, BTCWise. I am glad that you appreciate the value that our team has contributed towards the long-term success of DNotes. It has involved a great deal of challenging work and dedication from many DNotes’ supporters over the last 3 ½ years. We have been relentless in building a trusted brand and the most essential ecosystems so that we can ramp up quickly at the right time. We are getting very close to it and privileged to have talented supporters like. Thank you.

Regarding the book membership site: https://fourpillarsofbusinesssuccess.com/register/free-membership/ the initial contents are very much about the book with 70+ videos with transcripts and bullet points. I have been investing a great amount of time and money in this project with the goal of helping to reduce the high rate of business failures worldwide. It is well accepted that eight out of ten businesses failed in their first ten years of operations. That is a lot of pain and suffering. I am very passionate in helping as many entrepreneurs as possible and believe that this is the most efficient means for me to reach out to millions of entrepreneurs worldwide.

We will soon start a major campaign to reach out to potential partners and others interested to collaborate with us, including SBA and other groups dedicated to supporting small businesses and start-up entrepreneurs. This is a significant project with a lot of potential and possibilities.

The initial membership is free till December 31, 2019. Thereafter, the monthly membership is $10 with 100% of the revenue going to DNotes Global, Inc. I have also granted 100% royalty free to DNotes Global for any sales revenue from the book and related merchandize.

The DNotes Story – an Unfolding Big Bold Idea of Global Scale
https://fourpillarsofbusinesssuccess.com/the-dnotes-story-an-unfolding-big-bold-idea-of-global-scale

DNotes is based on a complex long-term master plan to be a purposeful trusted digital currency for everyone worldwide to participate. This is a very large-scale project with intricate plans to gain mainstream acceptance one day. If we succeed, it is because we have been planning for it since day one.

From my vantage point, the ground work we have been laying are coming together nicely. As in the real world, it is not uncommon for projects to end up costing more, taking more time, and even more challenging than originally anticipated. At the end of the day, our success is largely dependent how well we manage our resources, the controllable, and the uncontrollable. The book “Improve Your Odds – The Four Pillars of Business Success” is the blue-print DNotes follows religiously. We have developed a trusted brand with a unified single culture. We have the mindset of treating all of DNotes’ stakeholders like our precious customers. They are the reason for DNotes’ existence. I trust that once we are ready to promote DNotes, many will be interested to learn more about us. The book is a "foot-in-the-door" to the corporate world.

Meanwhile, may I ask what language do you have in mind for the video transcript translation?

The price is important, it impacts the growth rate and scaling of DNotes in a significant way. Stabilizing the growth trajectory is an important factor in our upcoming upgrades. If DNotes was, for instance, consistently a dollar, it would give us the fuel and we could more rapidly deploy the DNotes strategy and continue to the growth from there. However, as you said it's much more important over the longer term, rather than over the short term. The price of DNotes is 300+% higher than it was a year ago, that could go down, that could go up, only the open market can determine that.

Yes! This is exactly what I'm driving at. I don't want this Board to misunderstand me. In the case of DNotes, I certainly hold with Zuckerberg "I'm here to build something for the long-term. Anything else is secondary." The long-term is the core of Bezos' RMF I mentioned above. Alan has the capability to see around the corner. And it's great to see such a solid team driving towards a long-term strategic vision. That's rare in Crypto, as we all know.

But here is my deep point about focusing on price at levels other that the 10-year, 30,000 foot view. It's not an exact analogy, but I think there are a some really fantastic similarities to  the way DNotes and DNotes Global has been structured, and how Berkshire Hathaway kickstarted its otherworldly success in the 60s. It all has to do with a concept called float.

Here is a description of float from a book called the Warren Buffett way:

"In addition to department stores, Diversified Retailing owned a company called Blue Chip Stamps, which provided supermarkets and gasoline stations with trading stamps to give to their customers. Stamps were collected into books and in turn exchanged for merchandise. To purchase the merchandise, the supermarkets and gasoline created a pool of money, or float, which Blue Chip Stamps managed. In the late 1960s Blue Chip Stamps had a float of more than $60 million in unredeemed stamps. This float ultimately allowed Buffett to purchase other businesses including a candy company, a newspaper, and a savings and loan."

Basically, Buffett was able to produce amazing Returns on Capital by leveraging compounding through what is called the Homeostatic Business Model. Here is how Alice Schroeder, the author of Snowball (the only authorized biography of Buffett), put it:

"But in the bigger picture, what Berkshire, Diversified, and Blue Chip [the latter two were eventually merged into Berkshire] really possessed were two things. The first was the homeostatic business model--the idea of grafting float onto a holding company so that it could respond internally to the changing environment. The second was the power of compounding, as float and investments doubled and redoubled over time. The novelty and strength of Berkshire's model cannot be overstated. Nothing like it existed, or would for years to come. 'That was the golden period of textbook capital allocation,' Buffet says".

I see DNotes 2.0 as a kind of float. Which can then be used to further invest in the ecosystem. In Buffett's case when starting up his models with Berkshire, he bought See's Candies. For DNotes, it might be investment in CryptoMoms to take that to the next level. Or whatever it is.

But if NOTE continues to decline in the near-term, there is a lot less float with which to supercharge NOTE 2.0 environmental element. And as you say, nobody knows the machinations of the markets. They will do what they do. So does NOTE pop on 2.0 release? Likely, but also maybe not. Which again then means less float for development. So, near-term price does matter. And I'm glad you see that.

Tactically, this is where my critique of the eye-popping numbers fits in. It psychologically primes NOTE newcomers to confusion, because of the disconnect between right-now price downturns and starry-eyed 10 year out projections. Most folks can't readily cognize that kind of vision.

Idk, that make any sense?

Firstly, I love the quote from Zuckerberg: "I'm here to build for the long-term. Anything else is secondary." It was in part this mantra, and focus on strategy to achieve the long-term goals that I detected in the early DNotes community forum that led to my direct involvement.

I also really like the business acumen you're referencing in compounding growth of an ecosystem. I haven't read snowball, but I have decided to now read it.

It is a great feature of this forum that the main focus isn't 24/7 about what the price is doing as is common in other forums that are heavily dominated by near-term price speculation. Chase's compounding interest example was helpful in some senses -- crypto is very volatile in low-liquidity markets that can mean rapid gains for holders well in excess of the interest earned, and this in turn compounds the earnings from interest paid out from the blockchain in 2.0 even further. But in respect to a high value price point, it's likely the market price would be much more stable, and I would guess that a lot more of the gains would come straight from interest rewards the higher the price went. I think the illustration is helpful from a potential future visualisation of the dollar-denominated interest that could earn in a 'more fixed' and higher liquidity market, and we all know what has happened to many crypto in this industry once the market discovers them. Of course nobody knows what will happen with the DNotes price, but over the long-term we are very confident.

The float concept is a great mention to compound and grow a business, and DNotes currency will likely play a significant role in funding expansion of DNotes' ecosystem, which has been designed to syngergistically and internally compound growth into all the parts of its inter-connected system. That said, for the moment, and up to this point, the DNotes ecosystem has been 100% paid for by its co-founders. This has meant significant outlays both monetary, and even more so in time and experience (and just imagine what Alan could charge as a private consultant, or CEO of a large company?). This is the investment and effort that kickstarts the ecosystem (lest chicken/egg scenario).

The float will be one of the potential tools used to grow the system going forward, but all of the pieces in the engine need to move in alignment for the system to be ready to rapidly scale. In lieu of the DNotes 2.0 upgrade completion (which includes a DNotes Vault revamp), we are not yet spending big on advertising to make our plans known to everyday and institutional investors. Once DNotes 2.0 is complete, the other parts of the engine will rev into gear, and the engine will turn on to create a self-sustaining model for growth. This will mean more attention for DNotes, and likely a higher price at the market, which then compounds investment internally in the ecosystem (higher intrinsic value), which can lead again to higher prices, and more investment in development. The float and the business work in unison to build up the other, but unlike most ICOs, the engine must be completed and turned on before it can begin to propel the vehicle forward. Before the engine turns on, it is entirely funded by its creators.

Fantastic response, TeeGee. You said it better than I would have.

Now that you mentioned it, yes, DNotes has been 100% privately funded without ever asking for any donation from our community. This allows us to always do the right things that we believe are in the best interest of our stakeholders and never have to worry about the price of DNotes. Thanks to my business partner, Kevin and Smokeys Gardens for their generosity in making many things possible. We will soon have a daylily registered and named "DNotes". Of course, we already have a book published with a chapter dedicated to the DNotes Story.

We have been building an amazing engine (business model) without having to ask for permission. And that engine is about to turn on.

This recent article by CNN talks about how bitcoin is becoming a safe haven in Zimbabwe. It puts the rush to purchase bitcoin down to a lack of confidence in their local fiat currency. But what I found most fascinating is how the exchange rate for https://golix.io/, their local exchange, is so much higher than the standard rates.

Over the last month this exchange has traded a relatively low volume of 115BTC. But their exchange rate sits between US$9,900 and US$10,900 per BTC which is significantly higher than US$6,447 shown by CoinMarketCap. I don't understand how this could be. My only guess is that using their existing financial system makes it extremely difficult to send money overseas.

Another interesting takeaway from the article is this quote from Saxo Bank analyst Kay Van-Petersen. "It's only a matter of time before an emerging or frontier market government decides to adopt a cryptocurrency as a foundation for credibility, transparency, accountability, and attraction of foreign capital."

This might seem like an outlandish statement in any normal context, but Zimbabwe is no normal context. In 2008 the Zimbabwean Dollar was replaced by the US Dollar as a solution to rampant inflation. While successful, it has now resulted in a shortage of US Dollar hard currency, so banks are limiting how much is handed out. Then recently the government began issuing "Bond Notes" which are best understood as a new fiat currency that is pegged to the US Dollar. But black market trading has broken it from its US Dollar foundation and its value is also plummeting.

In such a situation, the cheapest option with the most stability is to embrace bitcoin as a national currency option. This has the added benefit of facilitating foreign trade which is so critical when an economy faces instability. Then, there is also to reasonable probability that the increasing value of bitcoin internationally will result in an increased net worth of the Zimbabwe economy.

Bitcoin is already being used by local traders, but from the article it seems like it is only for large purchases like vehicles. But adopting bitcoin opens the door to exchanging with other cryptocurrencies. If locals became familiar with a cryptocurrency running on a mobile device that had minimal or no fees, that cryptocurrency would quickly become the basis of daily transactions, while bitcoin would be the top-up vehicle, and safe haven for larger funds.

That last point about cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin is exactly what I thought when I read that. We all know that Bitcoin may not be the best option for small transactions. It could serve as a longer term store of value, but there is clearly opportunity for another cryptocurrency (or several) to become mainstream for everyday transactions and micro transactions.

Great observations, TwoCorn. Looks like Bitcoin will continue to lead the industry in market capitalization but there are opportunities for other digital currencies like DNotes to fill the missing gaps and “become mainstream for everyday transactions and micro transactions.” This is a vital component of our long term strategic mission as reflected in our roadmap. DNotes is firmly committed to meet the full functions of money – a prerequisite to gain mainstream acceptance in global commerce.

There will also come a time when specific strategies will be deployed to facilitate currency stability. This is one of the biggest challenges confronting our industry. It will take significant resources and great strategic executions of various proprietary programs. We are best positioned to make it happened. However, we don't have to do much until DNotes is fairly valued. I trust that it is going to change in 2018 when the next phase of DNotes kicks in. Expect us to be very aggressive in promoting the DNotes business model already in the works for four years by then. We have already developed a massive amount of written materials and videos that are searchable and verifiable.
