6041  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance permanently shuts down Singapore operations. on: December 14, 2021, 04:47:56 PM
Nobody cares what CZ and his Binance Titanic exchange is doing, they crossed all the lines when they called for strict global crypto regulations as a way to save their skin and skip any sanctions in future.
We see that centralized exchanges are hacked all the time and it's only a matter of time when this will happen to Binance again, planned or by accidental mistake Wink

6042  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk Charity and its funds on: December 14, 2021, 04:35:33 PM
Also good to know: when cabalism13 announced to pull funds out of escrow, 0.55387486BTC worth 18,308.30USD was moved.
This is especially important when we know that 1 Bitcoin was trading around $69k last month.
Now let me play a advocate role here and say that it's nothing strange if they converted Bitcoin to fiat currency to buy groceries and stuff for charity, because most shops don't accept BTC.
All they need is to provide some evidence for spending and converting coins to fiat and all this story would finish quickly.

What made me even more confused is when I saw a post from C13 when he suggested that one gambler addict should send Bitcoins to his ''Charity'' project to solve his gambling addiction, and I don't know how ethical this is, but whatever.
But if you are totally a crazy millionaire, man, I suggest to donate it on my Charity! Just go to Services Section then look for BITCOINTALK CHARITY
Let me finish this by saying this, I think that charity is a wonderful thing and everyone should practice this on personal level as much as he/she can.
It's also obvious that this guys helped some people in the past, I respect that and I hope this situation will be resolved soon.
6043  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin Store vs Konkurencija on: December 14, 2021, 12:50:39 PM

Hvala.
6044  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 🔥Satodime🔥 The bearer chip card to physically gift cryptocurrencies and tokens on: December 14, 2021, 12:27:49 PM
Satochip is proud to release its new product: Satodime.
The bearer chip card that allows you to exchange crypto assets like any banknote. Safely pass it along multiple times thanks the secure chip, unseal anytime with ease. Trustless, easy to verify and completly secure.
I see that price for Satodime is the same as for regular Satochip card, and I am not a fan of Opendime by Coinkite but I believe they are cheaper to purchase.
Bitcoin Crypto Banknotes are a good idea, especially in the time when they announce removal of cash money, but banknotes should be dirt chip to buy in my opinion,  they should even be easy to make as DIY project.

One question for Satodime, what secure element are you using for this Satodime card, same chip NXP J3H145 and J3R110 like for Satochip, or something else?
6045  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: December 14, 2021, 12:02:17 PM
Serious thought, Ledger has already made it 100% clear that they don't care about their customers. They are not even trying to hide it. But they are selling a ton of devices. So, the question is WHAT are they doing that other manufacturers are not?
Ledger indeed sold millions of their devices so far, and I tried to find some official information how much devices are sold by other hardware wallet manufacturers.
It's not easy to find exact data and some of them didn't want to reveal this info, but what I know is that Trezor also sold over one million devices, but they made first ever hardware wallet in the word so no wonder.
I think that Ledger have better marketing strategy and they are willing to work with anyone including centralized exchanges like Coinbase,
they probably have better funding, and and they have hidden signed agreements, maybe even with government agencies for spying people.
Ledger is also part of DCG - Digital Currency Group with 165 companies including Chainalysis, Coindesk, etc. so that may be one more reason.

Imagine having to deal with way more faulty features than we're already seeing after each of the updates, on their current line-up... No, thanks Cheesy
Maybe next step from them is to make ledger hardware wallet brain implant, and I am sure that many people would accept this phone/wallet spying nightmare.
Everyone should read latest interview of Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier to see how optimistic and ambitious he is:

Quote
Do you envision the Ledger device evolving into a phone, like the iPhone, that can do a lot of things?

Potentially. And it's a future that Ledger is ready for in the sense that we are developing technology that can be embedded into a phone. But you have to redesign the phone completely. You will have to compromise on some of the phone’s functionality. This is why it's such a challenging problem.

6046  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Battery Pandemic on: December 14, 2021, 11:28:05 AM
Someone posted in their subreddit yesterday about "not receiving a refund" and despite not having enough details, perhaps it could be counted as a confirmation.
This is just one example and I saw before similar complains being posted on their reddit channel, but refund is still a much better option than asking for device replacement.
It happened many times that customers received faulty device again and they had to pay extra for shipping, that is all well documented in reddit and anyone can find that in reddit history.
6047  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: December 13, 2021, 01:07:48 PM
I don't know if you heard the news but Chainalysis launches support for Lightning Network after they noticed how LN second layer protocol recently gained more popularity.
Funny thing is how they created censored twitter post not allowing anyone to comment anything on that tweet unless they approved it.
They plan to release Chainalysis KYT software for monitoring Lighting Network transactions, it will show ''risky'' activity and other insights.

6048  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: December 13, 2021, 12:23:34 PM
Trezor releasing their new device with SE in 2022? Any ETA?
Nobody knows exact date and time especially with global chips shortage and problems with supply chain, but it is planned for the end of 2022.
You can follow Trezor Tropic Square for news, and I will probably post any new information I hear in due time here.
Important thing here is that this would be the first open source secure element, without secret NDAs signed.

List is updated and new secure element ST33K1M5C added for ledger Nano S Plus device that is not yet officially released.
I also made separate entries for currently available ledger hardware wallets because they all have different secure elements.
6049  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: December 13, 2021, 12:17:48 PM
It's obvious that, like any commercial company, all they care about is to earn money. And forcing their user off an older product in order to make them buy again is... unfortunately too common and Ledger is clearly doing the same.
Nobody is forcing people to switch to new android smarphone devices but many people do it because phones stop working after few years, apps are not supported, etc.
You will notice that Ledger is doing exact same thing, but hardware wallet should not be the same as phones and communication device consumer products.
Ledger can always create new apps that will not be compatible with nano S and that would make it useless.

Also, something you both didn't say (or I've missed) : it also depends on how other software will behave. I mean that unless something fundamental changes or some big flaw is found, I don't see why Electrum wouldn't support the Nano S for many more years after Ledger stops updating it.
Answer to you question would be that you can't really use Electrum wallet now with older ledger devices like Ledger Nano, Ledger Unplugged and Ledger Blue.
On the other hand, first ever hardware wallet device Trezor One is still working just fine with Electrum, so you see the difference.
I am just saying that people who buy ledger nano S device now are basically wasting their money, clear and simple.
6050  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Funds not showing up on: December 13, 2021, 12:02:04 PM
Mine is bc1qx8spcg and the receiving one is bc1qn379, the receiving one is not showing any funds in it.
You can check on blockchain explorer if your receiving address had some outgoing transactions or not, but I hope you do understand that you need to have wallet fully synced to show correct coin balance.
You never said what wallet you used and other members asked you that question previously, is it Electrum or not.
Nobody can help you more if you don't post your full transaction or addresses here.
6051  Other / Archival / Re: Don't send your personal data to anyone in PM on: December 13, 2021, 11:45:59 AM
I never used PrivNote so far, I don't see any activity on their blog and social media accounts since year 2020, and I think there are much better ways of private communication between members.
It's better to use your own direct encryption for bitcointalk messages than some third party website that you need to trust for encryption.
However, I do think it would be evry interesting if theymos would add option for self-destructing PMs and some privacy options, but this is probably just my sci-fi dream Wink
6052  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin Store vs Konkurencija on: December 13, 2021, 11:13:21 AM
Gospon Vedran Mijatović autor članka zna zašto to nije usporedio.

PS
Pitanje za Bitcoin Store:
- Kakvi su vaši Limiti i Ograničenja (nedostaje mi ta informaciju u tablici)?

6053  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk Charity and its funds on: December 13, 2021, 10:54:31 AM
You're quite a funny guy, you mean the almost half million I spent for my wedding was from the Charity Funds? You might want to make a computation yourself.
Thank you for compliments and for sending me merits.
Congratulations on getting married, and I hope you are enjoying your life now that you created all this mess with your donations charity scheme.
If you can use donation funds for family medications (like you admitted yourself), why are you acting surprised with my speculation that you used part of same donation for your wedding celebration also?

Thanks yahoo, now I know there are still watching the charity. No worries, even if I get that red markings I'll let you know about the activities. Especially dkbit lol, you really did get on my nerves.
No problem sir, I have the skills to do that and I am here to serve and protect, btw I never accused you of anything, it was just my speculation because of your recent inactivity.
Please let me know when you need next donation, maybe for your kids, grandkids or pets.

Happy Holidays.

6054  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin Store vs Konkurencija on: December 13, 2021, 09:24:18 AM

Smiley
6055  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: December 12, 2021, 02:38:14 PM
Even if the production stops, the device will still be supported for some time. It won't happen overnight. They are not going to prevent you from accessing Ledger Live or their services with it. Even the old HW.1 still works (kind of) as mocacinno showed in this post.
Please let's be realistic, they are doing the same thing like smartphones and they even want to evolve their hardware wallet into phone Roll Eyes
They don't have the work power to handle updates for all three active devices (they already have 3 or 4 defunct devices) unless they move their factory like Apple in China or hire other slave workers.
This is just my speculation, and we can always return to this post in future and see if I was wrong with my prediction Wink
6056  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Plus on: December 12, 2021, 02:30:03 PM
The screenshot looks like it's similar to the Nano X screen.
It's lame if they actually showed image from Nano X with Nano S plus label, and that battery icon is what got me confused in the first place.

They have already released information about the secure element in one of their blog posts that highlighted everything that happened on the Ledger OP3N conference they just held. There is a link to the article in my previous post. For better visibility, let me quote the part where they mention the secure element
Hmm that is interesting information I missed, and I didn't expect they would change secure element, but it's from the same French manufacturer ST.
I will have to add that info in my topic for Secure Element tracking, what I noticed is that this new chip has 1.5 Mbytes of User Flash memory (Nano X has up to 2 Mbytes), and 64 Kbytes of User RAM (Nano X has 50 Kbytes of User RAM).
I can't find the exact price but it's possible that this chip is a bit cheaper than model ST33J2M0.

Code:
Arm® Cortex®-M35P 32-bit RISC core cadenced at 70 MHz
Operating temperature range: −30°C to 85 °C
2 Kbytes of cache memory
Up to 1.5 Mbytes of User Flash memory
64 Kbytes of User RAM

6057  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitHD RAZOR - Unboxing and initial impressions (Full Review to come) on: December 12, 2021, 02:14:34 PM
How not? last commits were 23 days ago.
You are correct, there is some activity and commits in bithd-mcu by one person nining, and I was looking at BitHD main github page that showed no activity for last two years.
However, I don't see any contribution from other people, and maybe you can try contacting them on github if you need more information from developers.
6058  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: December 12, 2021, 02:03:52 PM
OP presents SEs as green/good and lack thereof as red/bad. I agree that there is certain situations where a SE can save the day but equally does the SE with their NDA-requirement and secrecy lead to a situation where we trust a black box a whole lot for being our own bank and throw "don't trust - verify" too easily over board.
I was neutral in this case, and I simply showed a color, green generally means GO, red color means STOP in traffic, but there is nothing good or bad about that.
I can also say that tomato is red and cucumber is green, but that doesn't mean either of them are good or bad.
If you read what I wrote, I actually said that secure elements can potentially be exploited by malicious firmware updates, and I wrote many times about dangers of hidden NDAs.

Especially hardware wallets that use their SE's TRNG as sole source of entropy should be called out! Nobody can prove the TRNG to be truly random and in the worst case it just creates hash("you won't guess this", serialNumber, sequenceNumber) "random" numbers that the inventor can trivially guess. Such a hardware wallet would allow the provider to know all the private keys generated by all the users, putting him in the position of being able to pull the rug at any time.
I already wrote a topic about Seed Generation in Hardware Wallets including entropy, and I am somehow aware of flaws with random generation (TRNG, HRNG, PRNG) but I am not at all expert and I don't understand deeply how they actually work.
You are free to contribute this or any other of my topics and correct any potential mistakes I made:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5317199.0

As you can see in my footer, I work on WalletScrutiny where my primary goal is to prevent rug pulls as I see them as a systemic risk if we get another MtGox situation where half the community is affected. Reliance on a compromised TRNG is one of my big concerns.
I know your work, but I doubt MtGox can be repeated with hardware wallets.
More likely scenario is that some government agency or malicious actor infiltrate any spy from the inside.
6059  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Desktop Crypto Tracker on: December 12, 2021, 01:28:29 PM
There won't be a browser version at the moment, maybe at some point later. There are no other data sources only Coingecko because it is free. Everyone else, like CMC, wants registration or money.
It's a waste of time and there is no need for releasing browser version because Coingecko already has it's portfolio page that can be used right now and I think they also have multiple chart including tradingview.
Coingecko portfolio can be used with any browser including Firefox, Chrome and all other forks.
One more thing that could be considered is making a mobile version for Crypto Tracker but this needs much more development and there are good alternatives like Delta and FTX.
6060  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Reviews for Ascendex exchange? on: December 12, 2021, 01:12:23 PM
This Ascendex exchange was just hacked and estimated loss is around $80 million in total, $60M was on ethereum, $9.2M BinanceChain, $8.5M 0xPolygon!
It appears that their hot wallet was compromised and coins got transfered with Curve.fi into stable coins USDC and USDT.
PeckShield blockchain security and data analytics made a twitter post about this hack with more details:
https://twitter.com/peckshield/status/1469915194004766722?s=21

This is the last twitter post by Ascendex exchange when they warned users about some strange activity:
Quote
We have detected a number of ERC-20, BSC, and Polygon tokens transferred from our hot wallet. Cold Wallet is NOT affected. Investigation underway. If any user’s funds are affected by the incident, they will be covered completely by AscendEX
https://twitter.com/AscendEX_Global/status/1469886844787691528

I will repeat once again, NEVER hold your coins on any centralized exchange, even if they have best ever security and reputation.
You can reduce your risk if you don't use a bunch of shitcoins like people did in this case.
