6041  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-14] “Bubble” or “Ponzi scheme”: Chinese media keep bashing Bitcoin on: January 15, 2014, 02:57:50 PM
I think you also need quotes around the word media when talking about the Chinese media. Totalitarian governments don't do media, they do propaganda.
6042  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-01-14 FT.com - Wells Fargo calls Bitcoin summit on ‘rules of engagement’ on: January 15, 2014, 02:55:30 PM
I like how WF calls a meeting about bitcoin rules. Who are they?
How bout these rules, we crush your business model into the dust.
6043  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-15] CSM: Bitcoin goes mainstream: Now accepted at Amazon, Target on: January 15, 2014, 02:53:36 PM
Where does it say Amazon or Target? It isn't even up to date about Overstock taking BTC.
6044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Haven't started but want to. on: January 14, 2014, 09:11:26 PM
My advice.
Don't mine or think you can get free coins.
Don't screw with stupid alt-coins.
Don't download any bitcoin software (other than one of the few respected clients).
Don't try playing James Bond when buying coins and giving false info.

Do buy a USB stick for backing up your wallet.
Do use an exchange for buying.
Do pay taxes on capitol gains you have made.

Try being legit, safe, and profitable.

Cheers
6045  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to buy BTC with PayPal..... on: January 14, 2014, 09:01:27 PM
Go on, take a chance. It's a free country. But don't cry if paypal locks the account.
PayPal is the worst way to get bitcoins.
6046  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is the most generous bitcoin user? on: January 14, 2014, 08:57:46 PM
OP, do update this when you have determined the most gullible bitcoin user!  Grin
6047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have a 'great' name for a new coin on: January 14, 2014, 08:55:47 PM
doesnt that already exist?

I think your right.
Since almost all alt coins are just names, you can just stop there. lol
6048  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold, Silver, & Platinum for Bitcoins on: January 14, 2014, 08:51:29 PM
Just to report. It took a long time and was not a flawless execution, but in the end I did get my gold. The website said they had 10oz. bars in stock. Not sure why it took them over a week to put them in the mail?

Whatever. I may use them again.
6049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just some questions.... on: January 14, 2014, 08:43:09 PM
website development projects are a natural with bitcoin, I can see why a programmer would want to be paid in it.
I think your question is about the pricing. You will need to decide together if services will be denominated in $USD or BTCBTC. If you go with a contract based on bitcoin then both of you face uncertainty about the future exchange rate. If you go with dollars, then you both face uncertainty about how many bitcoins you will be spent.  In any case a signed contract is an absolute must before any work begins.  That is the most important thing.

Good news.  Smiley
6051  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-14] BitPay Not Willing to Work with Marijuana Dispensaries on: January 14, 2014, 08:13:15 PM
I still say it is arbitrary. Kinda like Amazon choosing not to sell guns. They could, but they don't. Since BitPay is a private business I do support their right to do as they wish.
6052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your passwords? on: January 14, 2014, 04:37:56 PM
My password(s) is a 256 bit hash of several answers to very personal questions. Basically a puzzle that you have to solve in certain order.

Yes, it's a big hassle to retrieve it. On the other hand, yes it's a big hassle to retrieve it.  Grin

lol, big paswords wont matter if you've got a keylogger though  Cheesy.

If you're incompetent enough to have a keylogger on your system and not understand why you should be regularly scrubbing your "run on start" programs (hijackthis! generally is my tool of choice) then you have bigger issues than keyloggers I reckon.

That's true. I prefer to use linux anyway.

Just because you're using linux doesn't mean your keylogger proof https://code.google.com/p/logkeys/

Even booting from a cd?
I think your good with a live CD. Unless it included a keylogger, which is unlikely.
6053  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-14] BitPay Not Willing to Work with Marijuana Dispensaries on: January 14, 2014, 04:33:04 PM
MJ is "totally legal" in Washington. And there is no stigma among the many banks lending money to dispensaries. It does not make sense to me that a payment network is making my moral choices for me.
Having said that, I have much respect for Tony.
6054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 3 Unavoidable Problems for Bitcoin on: January 14, 2014, 03:38:02 PM
So, no problems then. Yay!
6055  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-14] BitPay Not Willing to Work with Marijuana Dispensaries on: January 14, 2014, 03:36:29 PM
Bars sell drugs. Why do they take drug money if it's alcohol?
6056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'bitcoin is a ponzi scheme and wont last without china'-south china morning post on: January 13, 2014, 06:46:26 PM
What a crock.  Roll Eyes
Basically arguing that an uncontrolled free market wont work without.... communism???
I'll take that bet.
6057  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-07] OVERSTOCK CEO: Here's Why We're Accepting Bitcoin on: January 13, 2014, 06:39:57 PM
They got over $800 of my bitcoin over the weekend. I think there CEO is capturing a lot of pent up demand.
6058  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-13] Bitcoin bubble won't last without Beijing's approval on: January 13, 2014, 06:37:46 PM
This article is a great Saturday Night Live skit.  Cheesy
6059  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How long does it take to withdraw Bitcoins from MtGox on: January 02, 2014, 03:16:10 PM
You might want to check bitcoincharts.com
If it has been sent you may be able to see it there. Just search for your address or transaction ID. If it shows the coins going to your wallet, then you probably just have to wait a bit. That is especially true if you did not include a fee. 3 hours is too soon to panic.
